Work patiently toward your next breakthrough. You will get there. What you’re striving to accomplish isn’t the sort of endeavor that can be completed in a week, because it’s the type that’s hard-won and built to endure, rare and precious, and well worth the effort. Along the way, you are re-creating yourself, gaining strength and depth, and growing into the next phase of your life. Keep going.

Mercury stations retrograde today in the last degree of Pisces — which is also the final degree of the entire zodiac. All retrogrades tend to imply a phase of review; this Mercury retrograde highlights that theme particularly strongly. There’s an inward emphasis on past emotions and beliefs, and the thought processes and decisions influenced by those emotions and beliefs. The question is: in this busy, hyper-digital, social-media-saturated (and therefore externalized) world, do you remember how to give yourself the time and space to reflect deeply?

Neptune’s conjunction to the asteroid Vesta today (which will also be conjunct tomorrow’s Pisces New Moon) underlines this idea of holding space for yourself, and the beliefs you might have about that. (For example, do you believe you have a right to give that to yourself and set some boundaries around it? Do you believe doing so has value and purpose? Do you feel a sense of purpose in holding space for others to be introspective?) With Uranus entering Taurus tomorrow — and the New Moon a few hours later — giving yourself room to notice what’s new, unusual or compelling could prove especially informative now. Taking your time today — even with basic tasks like writing your to-do list, leaving the house, or driving to work — should help keep hiccups to a minimum, and allow you to make corrections with less stress.

Stretch into your visionary abilities: the power of your intuition and the breadth of your perception. There will always be moments when you are tempted to respond with a hot head, or to confuse emotion with philosophy. The present environment encourages that behavior. However, if you can keep in mind to pause and check in with your ethical compass, you will have access to a profound, wise and accurate source of inner guidance.

Written In The Planets
How’s your energy level — physical, mental, emotional, sexual, psychic? There are some agitating factors in the sky currently; yet we’re also just two days from a New Moon. So if you feel under pressure but also lack the ‘oomph’ to deal with it head-on (or in any way productively), there are correlations in the astrology. Namely: Mercury stations retrograde in the last degree of Pisces tomorrow; Uranus leaves the last degree of Aries to enter Taurus on March 6; and later that day the waning Moon meets the Sun for the Pisces New Moon. The New Moon is also square the polarizing Great Attractor (a deep-space phenomenon in mid-Sagittarius).

One way to deal with all of this is to go inward — to make a little space for yourself to settle down, settle in and take inventory of where you’re really at. Yet Jupiter is making a conjunction today to Varda, an object named after the deity associated with light in J. R. R. Tolkien’s legendarium. If you feel more called to express yourself outwardly, it appears that any offerings of light will probably go big. Just take your time to think everything through carefully, and mind previously identified boundaries. Mercury is entering trickster mode. Double-check all emails and texts before you click send.

Remember that what you decide to bring to the world is entirely your call, and therein lies much of your power. If you choose to, you can create beautiful expressions of thought and substance. That can range from a fully fledged artistic masterpiece to simply brightening someone’s day with a kind word — on the surface very different things, but each necessary to making people’s lives easier on this rock we call Earth.

Today the Pisces Sun opposes Rhiphonos in Virgo. We don’t know a lot about Rhiphonos (a centaur), but there’s a suggestion here to be precise and firm in your boundaries with others today. It could also be that you discover someone else to be holding a much-needed perimeter for you, especially if you may be overstepping in subtle ways. There’s a lot of planetary emphasis on watery, all-welcoming, empathetic Pisces right now; that includes Mercury, which is slow, powerful and a little agitated currently, prior to its station retrograde on Tuesday. Few things truly require rushing around the way we usually do, and this would be a particularly good time to shift to a lower gear — no matter how much you feel like you might burst if you try. Some focused physical activity could help to discharge whatever electrical current Uranus is generating from the very final edge of Aries.

Consider that you likely have more options than you realize in terms of shaping your reality. Thinking outside the choices immediately before you can offer a wider perspective, but when was the last time you truly did that? This is one of those instances when your intuition, synchronicity or dreams could offer the most useful insights. What would the ideal scenario look like to you? Ask yourself, then play with the metaphorical Crayola box of 64 crayons in your mind to envision the answer. This may do more to show what is possible than anything else.

Mercury stations retrograde in Pisces in three days. Have you backed up your computer yet? Even with this event happening in a watery sign like Pisces, which indicates some review of — and possible confusion in — more emotional facets of communication and creativity, it’s never a bad idea to begin following basic retrograde tech protocols, just in case, a few days ahead of time. Note that Mercury is in a square to Ixion in Sagittarius, and will still be so when it stations. How are your fantasy versions of a particular scenario matching up to the actual ethics involved? If you’re facing a second chance to behave with clear boundaries, are you taking it? Or can you already feel certain lines getting blurry? If ever there was a time to mean what you say and only say what you mean, this appears to be it.

Growing into the person you wish to become is more often than not a lifelong process, and there will be the occasional stumble. Take it easy on yourself. The key is perseverance: you will make it through so long as you keep heading in the right direction. At this moment, you are likely to see that path clearly, and have the opportunity to progress substantially along it. All you really need to do is maintain your focus.

How flexible are your closest relationships (especially the more intimate kind) when it comes to new experiences? What do you need to get out in the open with a partner? In what ways are you itching to make a bold declaration, indicate your interest, or otherwise spark up your interactions? All of these questions (and their related offshoots) appear to be on the table today. So how can you answer them with action rather than just more thinking and imagining and wishing?

Even though Venus is in a relatively reserved sign (Capricorn) as it makes a square to high-voltage Uranus in the final, restless degree of Aries, it’s still prompting activity to ease some of the tension. By late morning (Eastern time) Venus will move into cooler, calmer ‘friend zone’ Aquarius — though it will still be within friction-distance to Uranus, and Uranus rules Aquarius. You might find that your need for stimulation shifts more to groups and acquaintances, rather than primary partnerships. Whether that’s true or not, keep tabs on what, exactly, you may be provoking in others (and whether it’s truly the reaction you’d prefer). Supplying a little extra warmth than you might automatically offer looks like a useful approach.

Cardinal Cross Activity

Welcome to today’s Four Winds Report. If you haven’t yet listened to Eric’s latest Planet Waves FM recording, do check it out — it’s a fascinating discussion of the schoolkids who are making themselves heard on gun safety, and of the astrology that sets them apart. Also new on our website: regular cartoonist Jen Sorensen satirizes toxic masculinity in this week’s comic.

In terms of today’s astrology, Mercury and Venus make contact with three significant minor planets from the early degrees of Aries. Eric explores all three of these objects — Pholus, Quaoar and Salacia — thoroughly in The Art of Becoming. Here is a link to the resources area on that website; it’s packed full of information on these intriguing planets, and a good deal more besides.

He briefly considers what people born in the 1980s and 1990s experienced astrologically, and then demonstrates the significant differences in charts starting in 2000.

Depending on your time zone, the Moon enters Sagittarius sometime this afternoon or evening. When it does so, it immediately picks up the signal from Mercury and Venus, which are early in fellow fire sign Aries. This should ease the way for communicating with people you care about, even with seemingly ‘philosophical’ topics; you may notice a sense of optimism when it comes to discussing feelings. This might be going out on a limb, but even politically charged topics could be easier to approach — though discussion is likely to be quite spirited, and that window might be brief. With the Moon also making a challenging aspect to the bodies still in Pisces, you might notice an urge to travel or escape that could feel frustrating if you can’t indulge it. Remember that even a modest change of scenery within your neighborhood or giving yourself an hour to daydream could offer relief.

Across the Aries Point

Welcome to your Four Winds Report for Tuesday. Though the Sun has a good couple of weeks longer in Pisces, today both Mercury and Venus will cross into Aries, bringing a bit of extra warmth and vigor into the zodiacal atmosphere.

The Aries Point (the border between Pisces and Aries) is well-known on the pages of Planet Waves, such as this article from the archives. The ‘personal is political’; wider events serve to remind us that we are not islands, but part of a greater community.

This Week’s Horoscope for Pisces by Eric Francis Coppolino

Pisces

Your chart is still reverberating from last week’s Full Moon in your opposite sign Virgo. The Sun is now at the midpoint of Pisces, and is still close to Neptune, which is providing you with energy and motivation. And as of Monday, there remains a triple conjunction of Mercury, Venus and Chiron in your sign. You have plenty to work with, and you’re deeply connected to your inner sources of ideas and inspiration. Beginning this week, planets will be shifting into Aries, which represents your ability to finance your life and your projects, and also your sense of belonging in the world. The two are closely related. While Pisces is sometimes depicted as the sign least able to function in the world, a careful look at your solar chart makes a rather different point. Everything about you, including your sensitivity, your love of beauty and your clairvoyant quality, are all perfectly suited to grow and thrive in the world at this genuinely strange time.

With Mercury and Venus leaving languid Pisces today and entering Aries, you can expect the pace of communication and reaction to pick up. Yet, if you find yourself gripped with any sudden passions or impulsive thoughts, there’s still enough Pisces activity to make empathy accessible. You might find it especially useful to notice whether your patterns of thinking and responding remind you of your parents — or, better yet, remind you of how they used to respond to their parents. Thoughts and feelings about sex and desire — and how it gets framed culturally — could be especially provocative.

Initiative, Review, and You

Although there’s a significant concentration of bodies in Pisces this week, the focus shifts to other signs for the main events — specifically, Aries (planets changing sign) and Scorpio (Jupiter’s retrograde). You may notice a shift in tone, tempo or orientation as a result.

Early in the week, Mercury and Venus both leave Pisces and enter Aries on Tuesday. Mercury makes its move at 2:34 am EST (7:34 UTC), and Venus follows suit at 6:45 pm EST (23:45 UTC).

At its most basic, this nudges emotions, thought processes and communication into more impulsive, inventive and enthusiastic (or possibly reactive) territory.

You might find that you need to make a little more effort to sustain your concentration at times, or to put yourself in another’s shoes and offer some empathy. Yet with several notable planets and the Sun still swimming in Pisces, there’s a natural softening and stabilizing influence to keep things balanced. We’ll be getting some good Aries initiative to pair with the dreamy visioning Pisces is so famous for — and that can be a recipe for getting really interesting things done.

Yet there’s another dimension to Mercury and Venus entering Aries: they’re landing on the Aries Point — that hot little parcel of zodiac real estate that connects your personal experience with that of the collective (such as through politically charged events and issues).

Not only that, but Mercury and Venus make aspects to three minor planets that have featured prominently in Eric’s Art of Becoming annual readings: Salacia in Aries, and Pholus and Quaoar in Capricorn.
