You may be rich or poor, you may be blind or lame — you may be may be living in another country under another name, but you’re gonna have to serve somebody.
— Bob Dylan

The Capricorn Full Moon shortly before 10:20 pm EDT tomorrow (02:19:33 UTC Thursday) will be the first of two Full Moons in July. Subdivisions of the civil calendar don’t usually mean a lot to astrologers. Even so, based on its aspects and timing, the Full Moon tomorrow appears to be as just much in service to measures of civil history as to the epochs implied by astrology.

len-wallick-logo

In her Planet Waves column yesterday, Fe Bongolan adroitly brought us up to date with a synopsis of your place in service to this time in civil history. Tomorrow, the Capricorn Full Moon completes the picture from astrology’s perspective.

For astrologers, tomorrow will initiate more than a civil month. Also starting with the Capricorn Full Moon will be a series of meaningful aspects from the luminaries (Sun and Moon) to what one might call planets of history: Uranus, Neptune and Pluto.

Unlike the so-called personal planets (Mercury, Venus and Mars) and trans-personal planets (Jupiter and Saturn) the cycles of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto repeat over periods of time longer than the average human life expectancy. Granted, many in this day and age do indeed survive long enough to see Uranus make one full circuit of about 84 years around the Sun, and through all 12 signs of the zodiac. No human that we know of, however, lives to see Neptune (nearly 165 years) or Pluto (almost 248 years) complete even one orbit.

Nonetheless, the Cancer Sun in opposition to the Capricorn Full Moon tomorrow implicitly supports a suspicion long held by many now living. It’s the perception that you are living now to fulfill a unique place in history. It’s the idea that your choices in this life will unavoidably serve to have more influence than any who have gone before when it comes to determining the fate of our kind.

Indeed, if there is anything to astrology, both your conscious and less-than-conscious awareness of your place in service to history will have expanded considerably by the time of the Aquarius Full Moon on July 31. Appropriately, it all begins tomorrow with the Sun and Moon opposing each other in simultaneous aspects to Neptune.

Neptune is big, both literally and figuratively. From all appearances, Neptune’s symbolic influence has increased immeasurably since it first entered Pisces in April of 2011. Everywhere you look, both the upside of Neptune (which includes both inspiration and creativity, among other qualities) and its downside (which includes delusion and deception, among other liabilities), have ramped up to unprecedented and pervasive levels.

Tomorrow, the Cancer Sun will be in a precise water trine (a separation of 120 degrees) with Neptune. At the same time, the Capricorn Moon will be separated from Neptune by precisely 60 degrees, for a sextile aspect. Trines and sextiles imply amplification, emphasis and support. The trine is inferred to be both easier and potentially more dangerous than the sextile because of how it alludes to unimpeded (and therefore unregulated) flow.

Hence, the Sun (which represents waking consciousness, among other things) will be implicitly in thrall to Neptune, inferring both a trend and your part in service for at least a month. Your role is to be an intentionally conscientious governor of your own inspirations and impulses alike. It will be up to you not to get carried away.

Even if it seems like a good idea at the time, excess and extremism will almost certainly not serve the greater good. For every ounce of enthusiasm flowing through you, it will be advisable to bring an equal weight of intention and discretion. Such cautions will apply particularly to any situation where alcohol and fireworks come together this weekend. Interestingly, the Moon appears to be part of the solution.

Usually, it’s the Moon that’s associated with unconscious impulses. Given a Sun in emotional Cancer opposed by a Full Moon in Capricorn, it’s very possible the tables might be turned. Such a possibility is enhanced by the Capricorn Full Moon’s exact (to the degree) sextile to Neptune.

Sextiles, just like trines, do have a sense of reciprocation. Unlike trines, however, the flow implied by a sextile is more deliberate and conditional. Sort of like a grant or scholarship, sextiles tend to correspond with rewards based on merit, encouraging further effort (as opposed to the trine being analogous to winning a lottery).

Hence, let your own sense of whether something feels right (or wrong) inform your service in July. Also, if possible, allow things to develop at their own organic pace. The idea is that you can then be present to phases as part of a whole, rather than allowing a passing phase to be construed as conclusive and holistic.

After their concurrent reciprocal aspects to Neptune at the time of their opposition to each other, the Sun and Moon will move on to spend the first part of July moving through similarly significant aspects to Pluto and Uranus. As such, it looks to be a month when history will be served in such a way as to rival or exceed the events of June.

As part of the defining theme we call the Art of Service, Planet Waves will be there for you. We will be there with hard information. We will be there with astrological perspective. Were will be there with support for your best choices and with encouragement for your best outcomes.

What we ask in return for our conscientious practice of the Art of Service to history — and to you — is some reciprocation on your part. We pledge that, insofar as you are capable, becoming a Core Community member or giving the gift of a Planet Waves subscription to somebody you care about will go a long way to put you on the upside of history.

Even if you cannot provide financial support at this time, some encouragement and morale support for the service Planet Waves provides to the world as an advertisement-free oasis would sure be appreciated. Refer somebody else to us for a read of the wealth of materials we provide gratis — and perhaps a peek at the for-pay services that support the whole endeavor.

Given that you will implicitly have to serve somebody in July, you could do a lot worse than to devote part of your service to Planet Waves. Make July the month you make the difference you were born to make. Help us help you.

Dear Friend and Reader:

Wednesday, July 1, 2015, is the Capricorn Full Moon, exact at 10:20 pm EDT (2:20 UTC Thursday, July 2). You may view the full chart here.) This is the Moon in Capricorn opposite the Sun in Cancer.

To read these horoscopes, it helps to know your Moon sign (where the Moon was at the moment of your birth), which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. If you know your birth time, that will ensure accuracy — but often you can still be sure of its sign even if the exact degree is fuzzy. You can also read these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional insight.

By Len Wallick

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — This would not be a good time to get liquored up. Nor would it be appropriate to get worked up about a conviction that you are an infallible force of nature. Count your blessings instead. Those who love you have good reason to treasure you in the depths of their hearts. Your own heart, in turn, retains a youthful vitality that defies biology. Apply your persistent vitality where you live and you will be immortal in the hearts of others. Return love where you find it and gratitude will bloom. Support others in their passions and your own desires will be received with understanding and quenched with generous approval. Give and be received.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Whether you travel or not, you are somehow bound to have many meetings of one sort or the other before the current season is concluded. Therefore, conduct yourself as though you are visiting even if you never leave home. Show the same respect to your guests that you would offer to a generous host. Assume the role of careful caretaker with all you possess. Practice the most common and trivial of courtesies with humility and sincerity. Bring light to custom and lightness to where you are accustomed. Take great care in all matters without taking too much time on any one matter. Make vulnerability a virtue.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — To better be yourself, know who you are. Find comfort in your own skin. Anytime you have a chance to take a load off, do so. Seek not to distract yourself. Rather attend to yourself. Make any routine form of self-care (such as trimming your nails) an occasion to cherish rather than something to get over with. Inasmuch as is possible, bathe surrounded by soft lighting. Whenever you can, take a break from inner dialogue to sit in the shade and listen only to what surrounds you, to better know your own place in the world. This is not about recovery, it’s about a journey of discovery into what is real, present and good about you.

Your 2015-2016 Cancer Reading
To Achieve the Most, Take Care of Yourself

Dear Friend and Reader:

The sign Cancer is associated with food, emotions, nurturing and bubble baths. Yet the astrology influencing your sign is about some stunning achievement. Your focus is being drawn ever-outward into the world, and if you have not noticed it yet, you will be soon.

Planet Waves

There is a conjunction coming — Uranus conjunct Eris. Technically it’s exact in 2016 and 2017, yet it’s influencing you now, calling you to take action and perhaps even summoning you to shake up your world. For a long time you’ve been itching to do something bigger, more significant, more bold.

It would be an understatement to say that this describes a breakthrough of some kind. Note that no astrology has happened like this in our lifetimes. The last time this aspect took place was in 1928!

This conjunction is developing in the most outgoing, dynamic house in your chart — the 10th. That’s the one associated with career, reputation and what you achieve in the world. The planets are putting you on notice that your life is developing in some bold and positive ways.

Going well beyond career, this astrology describes your overall role in the world, as a leader, as a creative force and as one contributing to solutions.

I am about to prepare your 2015-2016 birthday reading. I’ll be recording a clear, practical guide to working with your astrology over the next four seasons. In that reading, I will read this aspect that guides you to toward some unusual success.

Yet there’s a cautionary note here — about the need to keep a clear focus on your home life and your relationships. Simply put, you can accomplish great things, if you take care of yourself.

My Cancer reading will help you do just that. I will offer you a complete picture of your astrology, which looks at your life holistically. I’ll remind you of the many facets of who you are, all of which add up to the whole person that is you. The key to this astrology is drawing on every facet of your creativity, strength and intelligence.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Persistence is not a bad thing, especially if applied to finishing a task or improving yourself. You may, however, find it both efficacious and productive to let up on others. Instead of continuously confronting, consider an alternative role as a constant witness. Be present. Hold space. Notice how, one way or the other, everybody really does do their best. Let yourself be moved by emotions not your own. Allow yourself to feel what others appear to feel. Instead of pushing your passions, pull up and take time to contemplate how judgment has no place in compassion. Sometimes an insistence on being right isn’t right at all.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Imagine your life running backwards in a wondrous way. See yourself meeting everybody again as if for the first time, but possessed of all the knowledge gained from prior experience. Think about what first words you would say to somebody you know well, even though by some trick of perspective, they know you not from Adam or Eve. Ask yourself what your first actions would be, given the opportunity to flip hindsight into foresight and start over. Then, take what wisdom such contemplations bestow and carry them with you through the days and weeks to come, so as to make the most of every new acquaintance.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Be conscious of what you regularly lay your eyes on. Then do what you can to see everything anew. A new coat of paint can do wonders, as can a new slipcover or even just a cushion or quilt flipped over to reveal the other side. Think about replacing light bulbs with a different kind, or just moving a lamp. Even redirecting a track light or two can give you something of what you are looking for. Whether you know it or not, you are looking for something. Whether you believe it or not, you will know it when you find it. Most likely it’s something you need. Quite possibly it’s already in your immediate environment but somehow hidden.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — From this day until the current season draws to a close, make an effort to constantly clothe yourself in your best and most presentable underwear. Not because the all-too-common dream of attending class or work (or standing on stage) in your skivvies might actually come to pass in reality — not at all. Rather because you may soon find an occasion to share your most intimate self unexpectedly. This does not mean you should go out and engage in indiscriminate sex (although you might want to have an open mind about how to do so safely). More likely, you will simply want to prepare to make the best impression possible even if all your usual facades are suddenly stripped away.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Burning the candle at both ends can exhaust you. Playing both ends against the middle can get you burned. Even though you place a great deal of importance on being a stand-up gal or guy, you might want to allow for some self-examination. It’s remotely possible some equivocation has insinuated its way into your conduct. It’s somewhat more probable that you have allowed (or even rationalized) a contradiction in your own terms with yourself. It’s not as if your soul is in peril. This is not about right or wrong. It’s about setting patterns consciously so that the consequences of your choices align more consistently with what you know is truly for the best.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — If anybody has consistently made the best of what was available to work with, it’s you. As a matter of fact, you have been so conscientious for so long, others could easily take your due diligence for granted. Even if others fall into the trap of not appreciating your customary and admirable ethic, please don’t go there yourself. You are about to enter a phase of your life when being critical of yourself will be less than helpful. Do not sell yourself short. Indeed, consider how it may not be necessary to sell yourself at all. Instead, cultivate an image of yourself as being without price — which is to say, that you are truly priceless.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Steady as it goes. Let that be your motto. You have every reason to believe that your decision-making process has become more sound. All you need to do is look back at the decisions you were making four years ago, and compare them to relatively rock-solid choices you have recently made. Now, it’s a matter of following through faithfully. Putting a long string of good days together is no small thing, but have no doubt that you have attained a proficiency for doing so. What you have labored so long to make of yourself is about to pay off. All that remains is for you to be patient, consistent and upright in every way.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Triumph awaits so long as you do not trip yourself up. Vindication is inevitable, so long as you do not diminish yourself. It’s not that your situation is precarious; quite the opposite. It appears as though you have a win in hand. All you need is simply to refrain from any behavior that would cause you to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. To that end, remember that the best defense is feeling no need to be defensive. Additionally, while your drive is undeniable, it’s nothing compared to the way your true altruism inspires others to carry you up on their shoulders. Once you are up there, all you have to do is not let yourself down.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You owe yourself a lot, so pay it off. Begin with pleasure. Select a legal, safe, healthy, affordable pleasure to which you are not accustomed. Then, allow yourself to have it in moderation. Repeat that allowance at reasonable intervals until there is no longer even a shadow of guilt showing up to spoil your satisfaction. Once you have paid the debt of pleasure you owe to yourself, you will be ready to take on other obligations to your wellbeing. So, in between sessions of well-earned and guilt-free joy, start thinking about what burdens you owe it to yourself to relieve, and how to do it. For the time being, however, simply enjoy.

Venus, Jupiter and Choice

Astrology does not cause anything to happen. Astrology is a source of information. The information is derived from observing and correlating cycles and patterns exhibited by the solar system of which you are a part. Your part is to make choices. The Sun, Moon and planets cannot choose. They follow the laws of physics. You, however, have the privilege of choosing to serve and manifest what you value — or not.

len-wallick-logo

Your choices do in fact cause things to happen (or not). Even a choice not to choose has consequences. Better, then, that your elections be informed so as to accrue results that align with your values and support your intent.

That’s where Planet Waves as a membership entity, and our Art of Service as a concept, comes in. Planet Waves is a unique source of information about the solar system and the world, because what you read here is provided without advertising.

Hence, the content of Planet Waves is without corporate influence. That’s how the Art of Service extends to you.

If you place value on Planet Waves being accountable only to its subscribers (rather than serving as a platform for corporate profit), and provided you have the privilege of discretionary resources to go with the privilege of choice, please consider actively participating as a subscriber.

By selecting from one of the membership options here, rather than simply buying a product from a corporate sponsor, you become the sponsor. You can ensure that your resources directly support your values. You can choose to serve and manifest the Art of Service in the world as part of something greater and more expansive than you could be on your own.

Unsurprisingly, the astrology at this time continues to inform Planet Waves in its endeavor to continue in your service without corporate sponsorship. Fittingly, our membership drive initiated earlier this week with Mars (a planet of action) entering the cardinal sign of Cancer (where the Sun initiates a new season).

Now, appropriately, our appeal to your values continues as the planetary emblem of value — Venus — moves to merge with amplifying Jupiter in Leo, shortly before 3:51 am EDT (7:50:46 UTC) on Wednesday, the first day of July. And Leo is where the Sun, as a symbol of consciousness, rules the roost. Now that’s interesting, isn’t it?

It’s interesting that you are today being offered a choice to merge a small part of your resources with others who share a similar consciousness, amplifying the influence of your values and your intent in the world.

Of course, such a result is not inevitable. You could choose otherwise. You might elect to be passive (another manifestation of Venus) and do nothing. You have the privilege simply to watch as Venus and Jupiter come so close together in the West, that holding up a single finger at arm’s length would cover them both.

As you hide the symbolic potential of this moment in time behind your extended digit, you might wonder. You could wonder who is seizing a moment that implicitly will not repeat again until Aug. 23, 2038 — the next time Venus and Jupiter will conjoin in Leo. You can choose simply to wonder whether those who are actively moving with Venus and Jupiter, rather than just watching, are also moving to hold up their middle finger towards all you hold dear.

Or, you could elect to express an alternative side of Venus and indulge yourself, provided you have the discretionary resources to do so. Admittedly, not all of us have that privilege.

If you do, you could easily exchange the same portion that would avail you of a Planet Waves Core Community membership for an entire year, and treat yourself to a weekend feast. In return for the temporary comfort of indulgence, you might possibly expand your waistline (another manifestation of Jupiter). At the same time you would almost certainly expand the influence of those who would very probably devote a portion of your exchanged resources to support social agendas and political candidates that you are not comfortable with.

So you see, astrology does not cause anything to happen. Inevitably, you do. One way or another, exercising your privilege of choice, in the time you have available to do so, will manifest consequences. By distributing what resources you have available, results will undoubtedly accrue.

Should you be fortunate enough to have discretionary resources at this time, please consider the options you have, and the outcome each option would entail. Should you be so fortunate as to be able to be something more than passive, and choose to be something other than indulgent, please consider becoming something of a patron of the arts. In this case it is the Art of Service, which Planet Waves endeavors to practice for a greater good in which we ask you to take part.

What Service May Come

Dearest Reader,
Each of my written offerings here at Planet Waves has, from the very first, signed off with my personal declaration, “Offered In Service.” Yet, that same signature (whether explicit or not) also distinguishes every person who participates to bring this subscriber-supported, advertisement-free, one-of-a-kind phenomenon of informed awareness and empowerment to you. Please consider this statement my request that you serve in turn at Planet Waves by becoming a financially supportive member in our community through one of these three membership options:

A 12-month Core Community Pass membership, on a sliding scale

A 6-month Core Community Pass membership, on a sliding scale

A regular-price Core Community Pass membership, through recurring monthly billing

Please take a moment to consider the optimum level of your own participation, and also to recommend membership in the Planet Waves community to others you care about and wish to serve in turn (or give them a membership as a gift).
With Sincere Gratitude,

— Len

I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy.

It’s interesting how astrology always seems to know. Just as Planet Waves initiates a membership drive inspired by the art of service, Mars is about to ingress Cancer. Additionally, less than two hours after Mars enters Cancer shortly before 9:33 am EDT (13:32:52 UTC) tomorrow, asteroid 4 Vesta will align with the Moon and its nodes in a manner probably unprecedented.

len-wallick-logo

Mars so closely following the Sun’s entrance into Cancer to precipitate a new season represents (as Eric has already noted) a second stage of this year’s June solstice, but also something more.

Upon entering Cancer, Mars will also be opposed to the sign of its exaltation — Capricorn. The ancient tradition of astrology considers any planet opposed to the sign of its exaltation to be ‘in fall’, and somehow debilitated.

Yet, if the ancients (and more recent astrologers who brought us ancient tradition, such as William Lilly) were alive to speak, it is reasonable to think that they would encourage us to see their doctrines as guidelines rather than gospel. After all, what responsible astrologer would arbitrarily write off anybody born with Mars in Cancer as somehow a less viable manifestation of Martian energetics than anybody else?

Astrology is not destiny. Everybody is born with Mars somewhere in the sky, and how it elaborates through you is a function of awareness and choice, not fate. It would be absurd and pernicious, for example, to say that anybody born with Mars in Cancer has no chance of becoming a great athlete. Regardless of the position of Mars in your personal astrology, it can be made to serve, and its principal service is to life.

For, as the outstanding contemporary astrologer Robert Hand has written of Mars, “…in fact its energies are a vital part of life.” Hence, Mars in Cancer can be made to serve in your life just as surely as fire (one of the manifestations of Mars on Earth) can be made to serve, rather than endanger life.

Indeed, as a member of the species that has discovered the utility as well as the danger of fire, you should be able to intuitively apply this year’s tenure of Mars in Cancer (until Aug. 8) to the principle of service as a human prerogative. Fire (as represented by Mars) and water (a distinguishing characteristic of Cancer’s unique identity) are not necessarily in conflict. Fire and water can, in your hands, be complementary.

Yes, fire can be extinguished by water, but that is not an inevitability. Fire can instead serve to warm and/or boil water in service of bathing, cooking and other life-sustaining purposes.

Interestingly, the principle of service, the purpose of sustenance and the subject of fire are contained in a single asteroid, 4 Vesta. Meaningfully on multiple levels, Vesta conjoins with the lunar south node in Aries shortly after 11:44 am (15:44:28 UTC) tomorrow, in precise opposition to Cancer’s ruling planet — the Moon. By that time, the Moon will have moved from Virgo (where it is today) to a Libra conjunction, to the degree, with the lunar north node.

An opposition aspect consisting of two conjunctions on opposite sides of the sky and zodiac is admittedly complex. Too complex to plumb to exhaustion here. But this particular opposition of two conjunctions clearly reinforces the message that Mars in Cancer represents the potential of service, and that the form it takes is a choice rather than an inevitability.

Vesta’s name is reminiscent of the vestal virgins in ancient Rome who served to sustain an eternal flame, which in turn was thought to sustain the civilization itself. For as brutal and unconscionable as the political and military conduct of the Roman empire was, the Roman civilization served to sustain literacy, architecture and astrology among other worthy human pursuits. Hence, modern astrology’s glyph representing Vesta as a votive flame, and the implicit interpretation of Vesta as representing (among other things) the art of service.

In opposition to the Moon tomorrow, Vesta will serve (among other things) to remind us that, like the relationship between fire and water, opposition aspects do not represent a conflict by default.

Rather, just as with the perpetually opposing lunar nodes, the implicit emphasis of all opposition aspects is complementary. Hence, Vesta’s conjunction with the lunar south node (which represents, among other things, the past) in opposition to the Libra Moon’s merger with the lunar north node (representing what the future might be), supports and reinforces the potential of what service may yet come while Mars traverses Cancer.

Indeed, how could a holistic interpretation of tomorrow’s astrology serve any other purpose than to support this as a time to practice the art of service, when you consider how unlikely the combination really is? Mars tours Cancer for only about two months out of every two years. Vesta takes more than three years to move through all 12 signs, spending only a handful of days in conjunction with either of the lunar nodes during each circuit. The Moon, for its part, spends only a handful of hours each month in conjunction with the nodal points where it intersects with Earth’s orbit around the Sun.

Hence, it’s reasonable to say that the sum of what Mars, Vesta, the Moon and its nodes are combining in precision to represent tomorrow has never been seen before. If that is not an occasion for you to serve as you have not done before, what is?

Reinforced by the occasion is the fact that brutality need not be served. Reiterated by the whole of tomorrow’s astrology is the notion that service to civilization’s highest principles may yet bring harmony between people and with the Earth itself. But only if you free yourself from all forms of doctrine as gospel, and bring your conscience to the table set by the solar system.

For while we may dream of life as joy, it is not that way by default. You must serve to make life joy for it to be so. Just as surely, you must serve the solar system of which you are a part by making astrology actually happen to its highest potential here on Earth. So, what are you going to do?

Not In My Name! Not In Yours!

The shooting in Charleston is the result and the product of a protracted political genocide resulting from institutionalized racism, centuries of dehumanization and the current denial of economic and political equality of opportunity.
— The Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.

Two days ago a lone gunman walked into one of the oldest and most honored churches in the U.S., and with premeditated malice, gunned down the pastor and eight other productive, law-abiding American citizens. In his own words, the motive of the gunman was unambiguous: genocide.

len-wallick-logo

It’s time, people. It’s time for each of us to rise with the Sun and state just as clearly “Not in my name!”

While there is evidently no “vast right-wing conspiracy” behind the misguided actions and twisted reasoning of the of the young, Caucasian millennial male implicated in this heinous crime, there is undeniably a vast complacency.

Now, that complacency has become the evident enabling factor for this most recent and tragic link in a long and unmistakable history of overtly murderous racial oppression in the United States of America.

On the cusp of a new season, which holds the anniversary of America’s birth, complacency has once again served the cause of mass murder, motivated by racism. It’s time to declare, people. It’s time to come together even as Venus and Jupiter are steadily coming together in tropical Leo and the western night sky. Come together and clearly state, “Not in my name!”

Tell the policeman. Tell the judge. Tell the politician. Tell the teacher. Tell the priest, rabbi and preacher. Make it part of every statement to every vestige of social and legal authority. Tell them so they will know you by a single statement.

Not in my name!

Take to the social media as Mercury gradually regains its footing in its Gemini home. Refuse to equivocate (or accept obfuscation) as Mercury confronts slippery Neptune in Pisces one last time. State it clearly. Repeat the words until all the ostrich heads ‘un-friend’ you. “Not in my name!” Bring the servers down if necessary to make it clear that you do not serve the complacency that aids racially-motivated mass murders and gives them comfort.

Refuse to give aid and comfort to a cold-blooded and cynical murderer who intentionally left a survivor to pass on his pernicious propaganda. Don’t let his words have the worth that silence confers. Refuse to let this pass, lest everything you love, cherish and serve in your own life also pass. Make no mistake, you must speak if only to say “Not in my name!”

For the United States is entering a summer following a winter when even the most bitter cold did not dissuade justifiably outraged people from taking to the streets to confront murderous authority. If you do not speak, incite others to speak, and come together to act, what can you expect from a long, hot summer? What can you expect if it is not made clear that institutionalized racism and its murderous inevitability cannot any longer be perpetuated in your name?

This is no rant. This is what we have come to. All of us. Together. We have come to the point where sports jerseys must be replaced by homemade T-shirts stating our refusal to be complicit in genocide. We have come to the point where every ‘post’ and ‘tweet’ should sing the same lyric and repeat the same ethic until the walls of institutionalized racism come down.

We must let every potential racial mass-murderer know that there will be no walls to hide behind. We must bring every office of authority and person in power to understand that the insidious system allowing such criminals to feel supported must now be intentionally and systematically brought to an end.

Otherwise, those who murder will hear support in your silence, and the families of those murdered will infer that you will allow this to happen again. Let them at least know that if it does happen again, it will not be in your name. If silence can make horrific things possible, then a refusal to be silent must certainly at least further the cause of making the unspeakable less probable.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, June 18 – June 25

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Let ‘connections’ be your key word. Itemize connections you have made in the recent past. Define ‘recent past’ as no more than three years back. Try to go beyond making a mental inventory. Go through business cards, correspondence, phone records, social media relationships and ‘favorites’ of all kinds. Let these people all know you are alive. Imply you are available to make some mutual rain — or art, or in any other way work toward mutual creative benefit. After refreshing recent connections, start seeking new ones. Look to become friends with friends of friends. If you encounter an acquaintance you don’t know much about, ask them to tell you about themselves. Admittedly this prescription for better fortune may start off feeling as though you are going around kissing frogs. Give it a few months, however, and it should at least open the way towards a princely result. — by Len Wallick

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Try behaving as if all the world is indeed a stage (with you a willing and enthusiastic player upon that stage) at this time. Look to associate with those who have something substantially illuminating to share. Show those potential associates how the light you bring could serve to enhance, harmonize with, and bring attention to the brilliance of your intended collaborators. There will be no need to come on strong. Attract rather than pursue. Persuade and win over those whom you perceive to be your fellow players as if they are your audience, at least at first. Then, continually emphasize how you are open to integrating their visions and their aspirations with the role you most want to play in the world. Above all, never doubt your own value and the value of what is within you. — by Len Wallick

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — The planet Mercury is no longer retrograde. However, Mercury is not yet up to even half its normal speed as it retraces the degrees of Gemini where it recently appeared to be moving backwards. Hence, be patient. Your time will come. Implicitly, your time will come in the company and society of others with whom you share a similar lifestyle and ways of being. In the meantime, go with the flow as regards to society as a whole. Remember that one of mythical Mercury’s main talents was the ability to go and fit in anywhere. For the rest of this month, it would be a good idea for you to employ that same talent, which you surely also possess. Therefore, as a temporary measure, consider the benefits of going along to get along as you make your own way through life. — by Len Wallick

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You may already be more than halfway towards an objective you did not even know you had. Either that, or you are unknowingly well on your way to somewhere you don’t want to go. For your birthday, consider giving yourself the gift of some time to add up what has accumulated for you as a matter of course and habit. The timeframe to look at is at least the last three months, and possibly as long as the last two years. For example, consider whether you have gained or lost some weight, either on your body, in the form of possessions, or even in your influence. If you like what you see happening, apply yourself with conscious intent henceforth. If you see a trend you don’t like, you will have some unconscious motivations to examine and something to turn around. What you learn from your discovery of your unconscious doings will allow you to follow through to intentionally build on — or break with — whatever you have unintentionally started. — by Len Wallick

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Indications are that two or more parties are contesting for your time and attention. Give special awareness to those who seem to be going out of their way to flatter you. Of course, you want to be gracious rather than aloof. You also want to accept what you have earned with appropriate gratitude. Nonetheless, now would be a good time to notice when the props coming your way are out of proportion. In other words, consider the person’s motivation. Some may want a piece of you because you look good. Others may be interested in how their attentions to you make them look good. Whatever the case, stay humble, continue to work hard, and remember that your light will not always be so high in the sky. Also remember that when the contest is over, the playing field has taken the greatest beating. Those who want to win you may not have your best interests at heart. — by Len Wallick

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Some of the greatest thinkers in human history have noted how there is sometimes a stark contrast between heeding your conscience and aligning with groups you identify with. Even so, doing the right thing appears to be your thing at this time. To mitigate the downside of being in integrity with your own awareness, act so as to be at peace with yourself as a first principle in all matters. Next, consider whether there is a difference between the right thing to do for the short term and for the long run. If so, look for a way to close the gap. Also, make an effort to ensure you are seeing things clearly. Compare observations with others you trust. Finally, to be less alone in actuality, appeal to the conscience of others you trust and ask them to do right by themselves as well. — by Len Wallick

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Did you know you have been showing the way? Whether you know it or not, you have been showing at least a few people a way to be for quite a while now. Whether you want it or not, at least some other people have been looking up to you to measure their own progress. Whether you like it or not, something you did about two years ago keeps returning you to where your aspirations (or lack of same) converge with what others feel they need to become. You probably will not be able to hide away and avoid being observed. So, why not simply accept that you are leading by example and attempt to grow into the role? There are worse things to be than a role model. There are worse things to become than more worthy of respect. It’s not like you will be putting yourself on a pedestal. It’s a simple case of putting yourself in your proper place. — by Len Wallick

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Don’t cave in to fear. However, just as an exercise, spend a little time (repeat: just a little) each day looking at how the worst of all possible consequences could possibly come to pass. Then, take just a little more time every day (repeat: just a little more) doing something to be better able to live with a worst-case scenario. Put a little money away every day. Stock up on a few necessities. Make do with a little less. If you can do that sort of thing consistently (and not go overboard into anxiety or compulsive behavior), your darkest, deepest worries will shrink in your perception — and rightfully so. On any given day the worst is almost certain not to happen. The cumulative effort of many days will grow. Do a little every day just in case; it will allow you more time each day to make (or remake) your life in the image of best possible outcomes. — by Len Wallick

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Whatever burdens you feel, try an experiment: shake them off. See if they stay off. Whatever does not stay off will need to be addressed in another way, such as meeting obligations or finishing tasks. Even so, there will be some things you should be done with. To get perspective, look for a chance to travel away from where you reside over the next couple months. If you can arrange for such a sojourn, try to spend most of your time with those you have not become accustomed to since this time last year. Once you get back home, look to renegotiate your responsibilities, and delegate to others a little more than you take on in return. If travel is not in the cards for you anytime soon, at least seek to accumulate less of everything. Buy only what you need, give some things away. Let go of want and become lighter. Focus on need so as to be stronger. — by Len Wallick

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Do not seek approval from others. You don’t need that. Approve of yourself, for you are worthy of your own affirmation. Give yourself credit. Yes, you have made mistakes; yet, you have also made more than that. You have quite often made the best of what you had to work with. You have even occasionally made a proverbial miracle. In spite of (or perhaps even because of) what turns your life has taken, the actions you have taken in response have shown you to be a person of substance and grit. So give yourself credit, and spend it on further enhancing your value to yourself. Learn new skills because you want to have them, not because somebody else thinks you should. To the extent that others make it their business to depreciate you, make it your business in turn to disassociate with them. Align yourself with those who accept you and want you to accept yourself. — by Len Wallick

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Show up. If your presence is required by those in authority, be there. Once you are there, you need not actually be something other than yourself unless that is what you choose. But at least show up. If you don’t, you will make it possible for others to believe or say you are something that you are not. Even more important, show up for obligations you create for yourself. That way, you will dispel doubts — and widen cracks through which the bright light of opportunity shines. Perhaps most vital, always show up in such a way that you do not show others up. Apple polishing and brown-nosing do not become you, least of all now. There is no need to make yourself look better by making others look bad. Rather, show up and make it your purpose to make others either glad you are there, or more truly aware of who you are. — by Len Wallick

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — John Muir had little patience with those who were interested only in what was ‘useful’ to them. Just as Muir made it a point to periodically step away from the world of those who did not appreciate what was useful in nature, try to get out of your world and into experiences that do not serve a ‘useful’ purpose for you. Also, take some time away from what’s most immediate and pressing for you, and take in the ways of other people. Go to the movie your date wants to see. Ask somebody older what songs she likes, and listen to them three times. Ask somebody younger what’s good to eat ‘around here’ and dine on it twice. There is more to this world than what you are concerned with or want out of it. Whatever you are not into deserves a try, especially if there is no conceivable reason you can now see for doing so. — by Len Wallick

Prelude in GC

Any given time in your life has a particular quality of tone. That quality is always a combination of things. Your perception and focus are a big part of your reality. There are usually some fundamental issues going on underneath everything else — like health, food, shelter and survival.

len-wallick-logo

Finally, there are often overtones that vary with place, time, relational patterns and seasonal cycles.

Astrology can help you perceive and understand the tone and timbre of your life (often in relation to other lives) because you live here on Earth.

Earth, in turn, is part of a system called solar. Hence, so are you.

Any system (including the solar system) is defined by the fact that one part can convey information harmonically resonant with any other part, and with the system as a whole.

Nearly all systems of astrology derive their information from the cycles and patterns exhibited by the apparent motion of the Sun, Moon and at least some of the planets that make up the solar system.

By the same token, nearly all systems of astrology will (at least upon occasion) take points outside the solar system into account as part of the harmonic whole. This week is just such an occasion. It is one of those times because the Gemini Sun always opposes the Galactic Core (GC) in Sagittarius at this time of year. This year, however, that opposition will implicitly come to pass with an unusually energetic tone, which is likely to carry over to your life in some way.

As with all opposition aspects, that from the Sun to the center of our “Milky Way” galaxy finds Earth moving between the two points in question; this aspect will be exact on Thursday shortly before 11:05 am EDT / 15:05 UTC, but is in effect now. The alignment is symbolically represented by the Sun and GC on opposite sides of the zodiac. Unlike any other time in recent memory, however, another planet besides Earth is part of the composition: Mars.

Mars will be lending its distinguishing ruddy color to the overall tone of the annual opposition from the Sun to the Galactic Core on Thursday. Not that you will be able to see it. The visual countenance of Mars is still lost in the solar glare from our perspective. Nonetheless, you should be able to anticipate and detect a Martian timbre in this year’s alignment of the Earth, Sun and GC, because Mars will be a functional part of the composition.

As Robert Hand succinctly put it, “Mars is an energy planet.” The Martian emblem of energy was in an exact conjunction to (sharing the same degree of Gemini with) the Sun only two days ago, when Mars was precisely on the other side of the Sun from Earth. This week, that conjunction remains close enough to serve as an energetic overtone of emphasis on what the annual alignment of the Earth, Sun and Galactic Core have always represented: the prelude to a new season.

That’s because the Galactic Core, like a star, is basically a fixed point. It does not move through the signs. Over a very long term of nearly 26 thousand years, the precessional “wobble” of Earth’s axis will make the GC appear to move through the signs, but for all intents and purposes from the perspective of your life, the center of our galaxy is continuously situated near the very end of mutable Sagittarius.

Hence, the Gemini Sun’s annual opposition to the center of our galaxy always means that the Sun is also just a few days away from entering the cardinal sign of tropical Cancer. When the Sun enters Cancer, it always precipitates the crescendo of apparent northward solar motion called a solstice, and initiates a new season for everybody on Earth at the same time — a metaphorically new movement in the cyclical symphony of seasons.

Because of Mars, this year’s prelude to the new season initiated on June 21 looks as though it will come with a tone more dynamic than is typical for the days before the Cancer solstice. Implied is something more like Beethoven at his most bombastic than Mozart at his most muted.

In anticipation of such an energetic prelude to what is always a notable solstice crescendo, you should prepare to pace yourself. Don’t get unconsciously caught up and burned out before the weekend arrives. Rather, be the muting influence in your own life. Take it easy with your own tone. Make it somewhat less than strident. Allow yourself to breathe between beats. That way, you will stand a better chance of entering a new season with rhythm and harmony come next week.

Round Up, Wind Down

From today on through to the Gemini New Moon shortly after 10:05 am EDT (14:05:18 UTC) Tuesday, it would appear that the best application of astrology is to round up and wind down. That, as opposed to getting all wound up and worn out. It may come down to walking a fine line between refusing to be pushed or pulled, and knowing when to bend rather than break.

len-wallick-logo

The line you walk today might seem more like a tightrope with the Moon still in fiery Aries. If you can but round up a bit of patience until tomorrow though, the Moon’s entrance into Taurus might well coincide with the winding-down Friday evenings are known for.

Still, there is that itchy matter of Mercury’s almost-imperceptible return to direct motion today. Nonetheless, if you heed the advice Amanda Painter has already provided, simply rounding up some awareness could go a long way to scratch the itch.

Indeed, it would seem as though the tools of awareness Amanda recommended for today’s Mercury station direct will serve as the best choice of elixir through the weekend. Intoxication does not look to be the better alternative.

Consider how Neptune initiates just over five months of retrograde back through slippery Pisces tomorrow. Combine that with Saturn (halfway through its own period of apparent reversal) returning from Sagittarius for one last visit to soggy Scorpio as Sunday segues into Monday. In all that, there is an implicit danger of sliding down a proverbial slippery slope into a long pattern of lost sobriety. You don’t want that.

Better to round up a bit of creativity. At least for this weekend, look for alternative ways to unwind that leave you more fully conscious and alert than indulging alcohol or other mind-altering substances would allow.

For the Sun (an emblem of conscious awareness, among other things), has recently been in laborious application to conjoin with Mars. The Sun will occupy the same degree of Gemini with Mars (defining a precise conjunction) on Sunday, but the aspect is plenty potent now. It’s probably palpable as a push and pull that will continue until the Moon comes together with the Sun (for the Gemini New Moon) on Tuesday.

The implication of the Sun’s impending conjunction with Mars is that you have to round yourself up to bend with some potentially rash and unconscious energy, rather than have it break you.

That’s because Mars is moving on the other side of the Sun, operating out of sight through the combustive solar glare. Out of sight, however, does not always mean out of mind, especially with the Red Planet.

Rather, it could mean getting so wound up you might feel as though you are going out of your mind. But that does not have to happen. If you are not fully conscious of the aggressive Martian presence in your life this weekend, it could wear you out. Yet that need not be your fate. You will be able to choose otherwise, and you will want to.

Being all worn out is no way to avail yourself of the new beginnings often concurrent with a New Moon. So, stay sober. Stay aware. Round up your emotional and intellectual resources. Allow yourself to wind down even if others get all wound up this weekend. You won’t be sorry if you allow yourself to bend. You will be glad you did not bring yourself to break.
