Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Dec. 11 – 18

Note, this is the next-to-last horoscope of the year. The last one will be next week. I will go on break after that, to finish Cosmophilia, the 2015 annual edition, without other distractions. I’ll return with the extended monthly on Thursday, Jan. 1, and editions after that will consist of horoscope only until Cosmophilia is done — planned for sometime the second week of January, if all goes brilliantly.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — It is up to you to insist on justice, where justice must be done. This is true, even if you seem to be the only person who cares. It is therefore your right, privilege and responsibility to be fair, and to set the example of fairness. This is especially true in our times of shifting foundations and the decay of social values. Where there are no morals, that is when ethics must take over. These concepts are similar, though in my use of the words, morals are externally imposed, and ethics emerge from within oneself, as a voluntary choice. The thing is, you’re in an instant karma moment. The world will meet you exactly where you meet the world. Your fairness will be rewarded by that reflection in the universe. But what is more apparent is that your willingness to listen to others about what they value will create an environment where you feel safe being yourself. These small gestures add up to far-reaching changes.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — What is sex? It’s a gift; it’s a gesture of faith in humanity. It’s a revolutionary act. But is it fun? Well, that works better when you understand your motives. The fun quotient is also dependent on how you experience guilt, shame and piety. When sex is real, it puts everyone onto level ground. In order to get there, it’s necessary to go to the level of mortals. Modern humans are often obsessed with being spiritual, which loosely translates to ‘better than’. Sex is typically not seen as spiritual because for many it translates to ‘lower than’. I would say it really means ‘equal to’. Remember that you, like everyone, are made of the Earth. You are part of the Earth, which means equal to everything and everyone else that is here. The more you tap into this, even as an experiment, the more generous you will feel, and the stronger in your faith you will be.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — There are times when existence has the quality of a reflection, or rather, when it’s more noticeable. You might not recognize this moment as such. What you perceive is likely to be more than you think you are. It may also lack the simplicity and clarity that you aspire to; you may be looking at some rather unusual and complex circumstances. Rather than a mirror, I suggest you consider everything you perceive or experience to be relational. By that I mean, it’s available for you to enter into a relationship with. I mean anything, anyone, any situation, no matter how blazingly glorious, ordinary or weird it may seem. Treat everyone and everything around you as simply human. Present yourself as simply human. Make eye contact, say hello and extend your hand. Smile warmly and laugh at anything funny. (Footnote: check ‘star-struck’ at the door. Admiration is OK, but just a little, as it will get in the way. Stick to respect.)

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Home-cooked meals; that’s what you need. It doesn’t matter who does the cooking. It might be better if it were someone else, in someone else’s home, but really any home or anyone cooking will do. You are more the type to invite others over and make the effort. It would be awesome therapy for you to subject yourself to such treatment by someone else. Now, I recognize you might not be able to invite yourself…or can you? Is there anyone you can call up and say, “Would you please make me dinner?” (Breakfast or lunch will work, as will a midnight snack. The Universe is flexible.) Really think about it. There is surely someone. However, if there is not, then plan a meal, go to the store, and prepare some actual food in your actual kitchen. For yourself, and for others if you wish. I suggest you make a habit out of it for the next few weeks.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Once you contact the creative force within you, you won’t be able to stop it. You might be inclined to take other approaches to the current task at hand — such as labor, toil, effort, time applied to the situation and old-fashioned thoroughness, which all have their moments. Currently though, the force to be reckoned with is the power of an idea, indeed of many ideas. Take up the motto that there is a creative solution to everything. To use this method takes awareness, and a constant dialog with yourself about what you are doing, and why, and the nature of your reality. It requires seeing everything as a new possibility, all the time. That takes more discipline than doing anything the same way every time. Soon enough you will need to develop and apply the ideas that you’re having, and as the planets move over the next few weeks that will develop naturally. Just keep that inner dialog going.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — If you’re on a sexual purity campaign, don’t be surprised if it backfires. You seem to be trying to contain an abundance of emotional energy and afraid you might lose control. The way to keep some influence over the situation is to be real with yourself, and vent some steam. You could probably do a lot more than that and feel even better. From one point of view, your solar chart reads as if you’re concerned some authority figure is looming over you and going to question why you’re feeling so much all the time, or why you want to do whatever it is that you want to do. You don’t have to explain that any more than a bird has to explain why it flies. And if you do feel as if you must rationalize your existence, otherwise be confronted by authority, this would be the perfect time to ask yourself why, or rather whether, that is even true.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You have a story to tell. But you seem to be hesitating. You seem to think it’s too much, maybe more than anyone wants to hear, or more than you want to say. That, and you appear to be waiting for a moment where you can approach the work thoughtfully and carefully, with some discipline. I suggest you move forward now. You can have all the discipline in the world, and if you’ve lost contact with the seed of your idea, with the drive and the living impulse inside you, the perfect moment won’t mean much. So scratch your pen or pencil on the paper, even if it’s in broken or scattered thoughts that you cannot seem to capture fully. Work your way up to a few sentences. Soon enough you will have the focus to develop what now exists in a state of potential. At that time, any first draft at all is better than a blank page.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Keep your money to yourself, at least for a few days. Be careful making any commitments that are indefinite or that you don’t understand. Any ‘good time’ you have needs a fixed budget, such as how much you spend on alcohol, how much you spend to impress someone or how much you put on credit. Your charts seem to be offering some caution around expenditures associated with your infamous holiday generosity. The other side of this astrology is that you may be sitting on some unusual potential for earning revenue, which I suggest you consider with authentic interest and care. This plan must not require an outlay of cash, and if it does, I suggest you pause until the Sun enters Capricorn on the 21st before making any commitments. It could be good, though you really need to think it through methodically and perhaps with expert advice.

Together, We Can End Saturn-o-Phobia

Listen to a Free Preview of Your 2015 Sagittarius Reading!
Dear Friend and Sagittarius:

Your birthday is the time of year to look into your astrology for the next 12 months. And that means facing Saturn-o-phobia: the irrational fear of Saturn.

With Saturn about to enter Sagittarius, I’m here to encourage you to stand with me and end this needless astrological annoyance — right now. Mentions of Saturn will dominate the news for your sign for the next two years, with astrologers making all kinds of predictions.

Planet Waves
Not so scary after all — Saturn in natural color, photographed by the Cassini Space Probe in 2004.

Unfriendly interpretations of Saturn have plagued fans of astrology since the 2nd century, when an ancient portrayed Saturn as a bad guy.

The ancient Greeks were smart, but they didn’t know everything. Aristotle, for example, said that there are only five senses. He left out several, including the sense of humor.

Anyone who has read an astrology book, article or even horoscope column has worried about Saturn, allegedly the matronly voice of authority saying the party ends at 10 pm.

Look up Saturn and you may think you’re about to be called to the principal’s office. I take a different view. I think of Saturn as being about practicality. To me, Saturn is about taking charge of your life; about structuring your time, and making the most of your resources.

When Saturn is active in your chart, you can make progress on things that have long been delayed. If you internalize the Saturn principle, you do something essential to maturity: you become your own authority. In Sagittarius, Saturn will help you craft the potential associated with your sign into something real; something you can hold onto.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You are irresistible even to people who think they don’t like you, but now you’re working with some unusual charisma and influence. I don’t want to hype up what I see in your chart, though it has the quality of bending reality to your will — and that calls for caution. Pause for as few as five seconds and you will be able to see any situation from any point of view. That alone will be enough to convince someone that what you have is what they want. For that reason you must proceed thoughtfully with everyone you think you might influence. Think long-range and consider the long-term consequences. The idea here is not to have less fun, rather to have more fun with less inconvenience at some other time. However, that’s if you’re thinking small. If you want to influence something, focus on a goal of profound importance to you. If you’re craving contact, start with the one person who would mean the very most.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Your inner life and your outer life could hardly be more different. On the outside you’re the very image of impeccability. On the inside you want to explode with excitement, lust or cosmic energy. You may have those days where if someone brushes against you, you’ll let out a moan and burst. Said simply, an inner portal is open. Life force is pulsing through you, and that portal where all inspiration comes in is wide open. People work for years to make this happen, though it cannot be conjured — it can only be allowed, encouraged and appreciated. You might try to force that door closed, though that’s not really a good idea. It would be a waste of beautiful energy, and you could hurt yourself. I suggest you stop worrying what people might think if they knew what was really in your mind. Anyone perceptive enough to guess would be thrilled about it.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You appear to be on one of your independent streaks. And hey, it seems to be working. You need your freedom, and you alone understand how inherently this is woven into the fabric of your being. I suggest, though, that you check in with any significant others (one in particular, from the way the chart looks), and keep closer contact than you might ordinarily. This is not to cramp your style. There is someone in your life who wants nothing more than to be heard, but who may have difficulty expressing their emotional needs. I suggest you take just a little of that burden on. Take the initiative and ask how they’re feeling. Give them permission to open up. Your reward will be added freedom, enough to explore what you want, and enough to be trusted by someone you really care about. At the very least, you have nothing to lose by listening.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Focus everything into your real work — the most important and most meaningful task at hand — the one that counts now, and in the long run. Yes, eat food and get regular rest, and then focus on your highest goals with everything you’ve got. You are in an extraordinarily rare moment where what seemed impossible is right within reach. You might say this is the time to crack the glass ceiling. To do this well, you must apply discipline and a basic plan of action. Clean up any loose ends that might bind you to the past, including emotional ones that may have a bearing on your work. Eliminate any disadvantages that you can possibly avoid. You’re about to make contact with the power of focus in a way that you may never have before. You’ll soon discover that, even if your methods have been a bit haphazard, you’ve accomplished many things that do in fact add up to a lot. Gathering them together will be easier than you think.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Dec. 4 – 11

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Keep what you say meaningful, mindful and minimal. Your words have impact beyond what you know. I know the ‘meaningful’ part is challenging, since you can’t usually decide for yourself what is meaningful to others, anyway. You can, however, focus on what is meaningful to you, and describe it in as few words as possible. The tendency of your astrology at the moment is many words, not a few words, however. And the tendency as well is to water them down. If you want to go overboard, do it in writing. And you will stay closer to meaning if you stick to what you’re the least comfortable saying, what is the most private; or pushing the edge of your comfort zone, you will verge directly into meaning. You can say these things to yourself, and you can experiment saying them to others. The meeting point of the two is putting them into writing — and sharing the writing, while the inspiration and sense of daring is still with you.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Sex is cosmic. Why is that so controversial? Could it be that someone made it so? If you look around, most of the controversies of the world are fabricated, and most things that should be getting the buzz going are kept on the down-low. Seen one way, the cosmic nature of sex, phrased as a question, begs the true nature of existence. We all got here from sex. But that’s the ordinary part. The interesting part is the access to consciousness granted by sex; that is, by sexual desire, experience, curiosity and what can happen in sexual relationships. What can happen is discovery. What can happen is alchemy, between two or more people, and within oneself. Here is a clue: Alchemy is a relic of the ancient world. It’s not regarded as real today, even though so much of it happens. To see alchemy for what it is, look at the world through ancient eyes. Look at the world as if you were dropped into its midst from some other simpler, quieter civilization.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You could be the walking controversy this weekend, for no good reason. You could cause a fuss by saying ‘have a nice day’. The key will be not taking this personally. Along the same vein, you could be triggered by something said by another. Remember, this is all an illusion. It may feel very real to some people, especially the ones who thrive on controversy or use it to stoke their identity. As a Gemini you have a gift for keeping it light. You can get serious, though you can dial in a kind of levity and the appearance of being superficial. You may need this skill over the next few days, and I suggest you use it without hesitating. It’s highly unlikely that anything polarizing will have actual meaning, though it could have real impact — not the best combination. Keep a smile on your face, and when people get feisty, pretend not to understand. Then listen carefully — there may be some profound wisdom underneath all the bluster and chaos.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — How are you doing at learning to take things less personally? Or rather, maybe the process is meeting every experience of your life on such an intimate, inner level that it becomes so personal that you embrace existence fully. By this I mean it’s possible for you to understand everything as something that happens within you. The perfect analogy: In a dream, a whole world arises, complete with people, scenery, theme and logic. In our culture, we understand that a dream is something that happens within us. (There are other approaches — for another day.) Now think of ‘the world’ as something that happens within your senses, within your mind, within your consciousness. This is, at least, biologically true: your whole experience of life happens within your brain and nervous system. Imagine the influence that gives you. Consider how vital your own attention is to your experience of life. Count as real the ability you have to choose for yourself what is true and what is not.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Pride is the last feeling that you want to stoke right now. There are others that will work much better — like cooperation. I was going to say “group integration” but that’s a term better used in the Aquarius horoscope. This astrology is coming from Aquarius by the way — in the form of Mars entering your opposite sign. As for pride, I know the temptation may be there, though it will come off to others as confrontational, and that’s unlikely to be what you want to do. At the same time, you may be noticing that others are asserting themselves to you, that is, asserting their will and their ideas. The key is to meet them without resistance. Imagine the encounter as more like dancing and less like wrestling. When dancing you have to apply some strength and firmness and yet be flexible and flow. Then imagine a group of people doing this dance, without choreography — just music. Listen for the music.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Listen to what your body is saying. Your body will reveal secrets about your past, if you will only listen. I suggest you ease back on sugar, caffeine and anything else that might alter your consciousness, at least over the next few days. This is for the express purpose of tuning into the messages that are profoundly important but also can be easily obscured. The thing you might have to offer in the equation is the willingness to experience some discomfort. You might also need to sort out the content of what is happening in a current relationship until you understand the subtext. And you will need to see beneath any feelings that you may have about your family, particularly your father’s side of the family. All of this will be worth it. It will be a small inconvenience to bear, on the way to making what could be the first of many discoveries that set you solidly on the healing path.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — It’s time to bring the passion back into sex. Passion does not necessarily mean love affair, and it does not mean soul mate. It has nothing to do with ‘spiritual’ unless you’re someone who associates spiritual with biology. This is less about being horny and more about being curious and creative. Imagine if we unhooked from sex all those other values, and just left curious and creative. We would have something fun to play with. You in particular need sex to be interesting, whatever kind of sex it may be. Interesting translates to something different, and a spirit of experimentation. I know this passage of writing will never get into The Missionary’s Guide to Perfect Fidelity, and that’s a good thing too. You’re not a missionary and perfect fidelity is not your goal. In fact it may be the last thing on your mind right now. Remember, curiosity, creativity, experimentation.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Aah yes family, the original group. The tribe. The thing to which we think we belong, and yet somehow, so often, do not belong. The group by which all other groups are measured. You may encounter the temptation to define yourself by the ways in which you’ve got nothing in common with those people. You may be feeling some anger, directed at the past, perhaps for the way things are today. You may get the urge to “burn down their house” (metaphorically, of course). Anger is useful. It’s a reminder that you may actually have a beef with someone, though it’s not always clear who, or why. I suggest you sort that out. Start by assuming that anger is a clue; merely a clue. Then once you have that clue, follow it in and see if you can figure out the dynamic. Don’t be attached to any one discovery. Hang loose and be flexible as you move from idea to idea. You will learn a lot the next few weeks as you do this.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You really do know — even if you think you don’t, and especially if you’re not supposed to. To make an observation, you don’t need to have read the book or collected the certification. There are some things you just know. You might call it intuition, but from the look of your solar chart it’s a heck of a lot deeper; more like the direct memory of something you learned a long time ago. This could be a fleeting experience for you, though I suggest you focus on any interesting revelations long enough to get the actual content and impact of the message. You could find yourself remembering all kinds of things that are absolutely beyond your experience, training and knowledge level. I suggest that you not declare yourself any kind of expert or lay claim to this information any more than to enter into a relationship with it. This is something that can develop over time, if you make the investment of focus and reflection.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Mars leaves your sign on Thursday, ending an interesting micro-era of your life. This began Oct. 26, and it probably started with a bang or two. Looking back, what do you see from a distance, and with the perspective of time? I would encourage your curiosity about the events of the second week of November. What did you learn? It has a bearing on the next few weeks, with the main point of contact being what happens when you judge yourself for things that are outside your control, or judge yourself at all. One of the ways that you, personally, handle the global self-esteem crisis is to detach yourself from the issue. It’s actually a pretty good strategy, since so much of “lack of self-esteem” is a kind of red herring. Often, it involves a con-job by someone else — in the distant past or five minutes ago. But sometimes you cannot distance yourself; sometimes you have to grab the question, look it in the face and say: AND?

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Mars enters your sign on Thursday. Mars sign changes are always meaningful, and always noticeable, though this one bears a personal message to you. The theme is how you use your energy. That’s significant now because you will have access to plenty more — drive, motivation, persuasiveness and personal power. This may be off-putting to some people. You don’t need to make your case strongly, or for that matter at all. You will definitely need to apply diplomacy to any situation in which you find yourself. If you don’t add that as a conscious factor, you are likely to decide that you just don’t care and dust it up with someone needlessly. So I suggest you apply your best Aquarian cool, and distribute that Martian energy evenly through your circuits. Let Mars make you more of what you are: humane, idealistic, and — underneath a mind often boggled with a whole bunch of ideas — passionate and sensitive.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Keep your plans big, and keep them to yourself. What you’re doing now — everything from the changes you’re initiating to the edge you’re walking along — has the power to grow into something far beyond what you currently have, or think is possible. You don’t need to trace that trajectory, or even plot out the scenarios. To do so would likely be to limit yourself. Rather, focus on the kernel of what you’re doing, as close to the seed of the idea as you can. Retreat inward rather than extend yourself outward, particularly on this one thing that you’ve got a grasp on, or that has a hold on your interest. Yes, the Sun in Sagittarius moving across your solar 10th house is about expanding and being visible, which you can do in other ways — in ways that are already tried and true. As for this new thing you’re discovering, keep that between yourself and your notebook.

Dear Friend and Reader:

If you made it through this much of 2014, you experienced some of the most wrenching astrology in recent memory. The cardinal grand cross of January and April, combined with Mars retrograde and some strategically placed eclipses, earned most of the current year the rating of whiplash machine.

Photos in this article are all of the Coxing, a stream in Ulster County, the only stream I’m really interested in photographing. Photos are all along the Grandmother Land in High Falls, NY.

I’ll start with a little refresher of that. In the background of all astrology in our phase of history is an era-defining aspect called the Uranus-Pluto square. This started warming up in 2008 when Obama got elected and the banking and mortgage collapse happened.

It really got cooking in 2011 with Fukushima, Arab Spring, the Occupy movement and countless other too-intense news events that year. And it had (or will have) a total of seven exact contacts between early 2012 and early 2015. This aspect is an extension of Sixties astrology, in that it’s part of the same cycle, the Uranus-Pluto cycle, that instigated that most interesting era of the mid-20th century.

The evolutionary force of Pluto combined with the revolutionary impulse of Uranus, and the blend illustrated an outpouring of energy of nearly every shade, color and temperature.

Nearly 50 years later, those two planets are at first-quarter phase, an extended drama that begins to resolve in 2015. What we experienced in 2014 on two separate occasions was other planets getting into the action — Mars and Jupiter, which basically brought the sensation of that aspect to the front of awareness. That was the grand cross of January and April 2014.

Moonshine Horoscope — Gemini Full Moon Edition

Saturday, Dec. 6 is the Gemini Full Moon, exact at 7:27 am EST (12:27 am UTC). This is the Moon in Gemini opposite the Sun in Sagittarius. (View full chart here.) Len Wallick has interpreted this lunation for each of the 12 Moon signs in their horoscopes below.

To read these horoscopes, it helps to know your Moon sign (where the Moon was at the moment of your birth), which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. If you know your birth time, that will ensure accuracy — but often you can still be sure of its sign even if the exact degree is fuzzy. You can also read these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional insight.

By Len Wallick

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Please consider how you may be in the process of associating with others and locating your place for the long term. It’s not so much about where you belong. It’s more about who you belong with. Neither is it so much about coupling-up; it’s more about grouping-up. Nonetheless, the right person would serve to guide you, and the right place will almost certainly correspond with the society you want and need. So, make like you are looking for wild mushrooms as you search for your future: Don’t do it alone lest you get lost, and focus on finding the right environment first.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Stormy emotional weather need not be bad news for you at this time. That’s especially true if any tempests you encounter are either precipitated or exacerbated by being caught between a rock and a hard place. In fact, any moments of distress or despair overtaking your next handful of days could very well precede a transformative turn of events soon after. Therefore, be open to a fortunate outcome if you find yourself in difficulty anytime soon. To that end, remember who you are. Let your choices be influenced by your highest values, not your deepest fears.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — It would probably be worth your while to begin actively looking for alternatives, especially where either inertia or momentum have taken over in your life. Begin by considering the difference. Inertia usually correlates with that which tends not to change unless acted upon — and that is not implicitly a bad thing. Momentum often builds as action accumulates; that is not necessarily a good thing. Once you get clear about what’s what for you, then you will be able to exercise what appears to be an excellent opportunity to turn things around as you see fit.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Please be alert for places or situations where it feels like you may be either the missing piece or an unanticipated solution, but don’t impose yourself — at least not right away. Instead, let yourself be seen rather than heard. Let yourself be discovered rather than presented. Such a protocol will buy the time you need to determine in advance whether you want to campaign if nominated or serve if elected. Your life now is more than a simple duality of service and self-interest; it’s also about getting to the heart and truth of matters first.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Whatever tests you may have just passed, now is no time to rest on your laurels. Similarly, don’t let whatever tests you recently might have failed hold you back. Instead of dwelling with what has concluded, take a look at what you need. Specifically, address needs that may have been neglected while you were being tested. Allow yourself enough time to get in touch with what you put off or put aside as deadlines loomed and pressures mounted. Get hold of yourself, and once you do, look for appropriate moments to share what you find.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — In a long-ago lyric, Bob Dylan professed to save his judgment for himself. Whether or not the former Mr. Zimmerman has subsequently practiced his preaching should be of little concern for you now. Instead, you might want to reflect on who, what, and how you have been judging. If your reflections feel like work, you will know you are doing it right. If the results open your heart, you will know the work is of the right kind. If it turns out that you have in fact been judging yourself without thinking and for too long, take this as your (gentle) cue to stop.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Maybe you can give yourself a new story for Christmas (or solstice, or holiday of your choice). Shop around by sharing aspirations with chance acquaintances. Tell your fellow commuter about where you would travel if you were to keep going past your stop. Share with the teller at the bank what you’re saving up for next year, or mention to the checkout clerk what you might sample the next time in. The idea is not to mislead anybody. Rather, think of it as window shopping, and trying new stories on for size. Shop long enough, and you just might find a gift worth going after.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Somewhere along the line in the past couple years you may somehow have weighed yourself in the balance and found yourself wanting. You may feel that way now. You don’t want to feel that way forever. Towards that end, begin formulating a new year’s resolution to restore lightness to your step and strength to your lower back. What works for you won’t be the same for everybody born with the Moon in Scorpio. To find your own unique resolution, ponder on what it would take for you not to take yourself so seriously, and see where that meditation takes you.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You are no stranger to paradox, although paradox may always feel very strange for you. Nobody understands the cliche of being alone in a crowd as deeply as your lunar tribe. Nor does any other natal Moon bequeath the same sense of separation from those with whom you are most closely aligned genetically. With this month’s Full Moon in Gemini (the sign opposite your Moon sign), you can expect a further sense of the unnaturally familiar, but also an unaccustomed (even unprecedented) insight into your own deepest self.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You are on track to close out 2014 on a solid and substantial note if you can but remember the time-honored rule of playground basketball: play within your self. If it’s not now within your capacity to dunk the ball, wait until next year to stretch for the rim. If you are not by now well-practiced shooting from mid-court, work your way in closer to the basket for a higher-percentage shot. Focus on adding modestly to the impressive score you have already built up. If that means providing somebody else with an assist, so much the better.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Now is the time to give yourself a proverbial shot in the arm, as opposed to a euphemistic kick in the behind. You deserve props far more than prods at this point, and nobody knows that better than you. Therefore, you must lead the way. Not by fishing for compliments or seeking strokes, but rather by asserting your place at the table, and your right to a drumstick. Neither is this about tooting your own horn — more like you playing your own drum so that others are compelled by their own best nature (and best interest) to fall into step.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Luck, so it’s said, is the residue of preparation. That’s especially true for you now. There appears to be some sort of long haul ahead for you, but far enough from where you currently are so as to allow ample time for accumulating all the luck you will need. For the time being it will be enough to prepare so long as you can harness your recently acquired proficiency for focus to the wagon of your natural creativity. The trick will be to hitch up the on the right side and in the appropriate order so that your preparations result in progress.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for December 2014

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — There is big business moving in your chart, and right at the same time planets come storming through your house of achievement and success, Saturn makes its first move into Sagittarius. The theme is ethics. Seen one way, your astrology is perfect for you to take a success-at-all-costs approach to life. It would probably work, remembering the ‘all costs’ factor. Saturn, for its part, is saying that you must be mindful of the spiritual ground you stand on, which would include (for example) the relationship between what you achieve and how you get there. It would include making sure that every statement you make is true for you and also for the person hearing the message. Yes, planets are strongly hinting at a time of boldly claiming your power, your talent and your authority. Yet unlike most business situations, the final result when we do the calculus on your chart comes down to do the right thing for the right reason. There is one other element: If you encounter a voice of parental authority, whether in the form of guilt, some religious regulation or a personal hangup with success, listen carefully. I suggest you take notes and map it out. Nobody else can tell you what’s right and what’s wrong, though voices from the past are trying to hijack the issue. It’s not up to them — this is your call.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You may have the sensation that something is out of balance, though the way it looks in your astrology, you’re working to put that very thing into balance. Yet you might not feel that way while it’s happening. The changes you want to make are drawing you in like the vortex that they are. In truth you are catching up with yourself. You are closing the gap between what you were told about yourself, and the reality of who you actually are. You have made a respectable investment in clearing out karma, clutter and beliefs to which other people are attached. There are two parts to the equation of what you’re doing — identifying and letting go of what was not true or has served its purpose, and taking full ownership of what is true for you based on actual understanding. The catch is how unstable you might feel through this process. Internally and externally, large forces are at work. This may have you feeling like the substance of who you are is not strong enough to stand up to existence. I would offer this — the seeming substance of who you are not is what is threatened. What you were in the past, what you believed, what you thought you wanted, will crumble under the changes. Who you are is what will be revealed for its enduring strength and vision.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You will need to put extra care this month and into January into all matters of a joint financial nature, taxes, investments and shared resources. You may find this irritating or challenging, though I suggest you devote yourself to the tasks at hand. The thing to avoid is rebellion, whether in words, actions or even thoughts. Go along with the program and your process of tidying up the past. People of power and influence may be paying attention, and your job is to make sure that you do what you’re obliged to do. The most positive aspect of this is that once you clear this material out of the way, you will have a much lighter approach to existence. In addition, the relationships that are involved are struggling under the burden of too much in the way, too many unresolved commitments and a corresponding energy drain. Events this month are your invitation to get clear. You may be nervous about this because you’re fearing that in the process, something will have to give. What is actually happening is that everyone is learning how to give and how to receive. The underlying skill that will make this possible is listening. Learn to do it and do it well. Listen carefully enough and you will get actual insights, and convey the idea that paying attention actually helps. Absolutely radical, I know.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Calmly watch the world and observe the subtle fact that you’re in a position of power. You will have to do some sorting out what that power is, how it manifests and how you may use it, but the fact remains, you are in a strong place. This will be helpful information when you get into that moment when so much is happening that you have no idea how to handle it. Come back to the core concept; come back to the egg. Your strength is not power over anyone else. It’s based on having a wide perspective and also on confidence coming from the inside-out. You may think that everything else, everything going on around you, is so much more substantial, so much more tangible. But that does not translate to meaningful, or to longterm influence. It will help if you get in the habit of speaking second rather than first. It will help immensely if you focus your intuition on what is being said to you, and figure out the message under the message. Then you can unravel the psychology of the people around you, and once you do that, you will be unstoppable. Meanwhile, you have an assignment, which is to notice the ways you’ve done things the same way and had the same result. New information will provide the means to new methods and, consequently, new effects.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Get ready for an adventure — artistic, creative, erotic, childish, challenging, risky — and remember to pace yourself. You can be as bold an adventurer as you want, as long as you remember to sleep at night and eat real food. I know that what often seems like the most fun involves being up 24 hours a day, neglecting one’s health and otherwise going over the deep end. You may be inclined to do that, though I am looking ahead to the charts after you come back down to the ground, and they are suggesting a conscious approach to whatever bold thing you do. In essence I am saying to take a balanced approach when you will have lots of opportunities not to do that. Perhaps as encouragement I can offer the idea that you will go deeper, learn more and get more accomplished if you do the food/water/sleep thing than if you don’t. The kinds of edgy adventures, experiments and thought excursions indicated by your charts will benefit from presence of mind. Much of what you learn will come across in subtle ways, in hints and in cues. Plus, in anything risky there is at least some potential danger, and the way to mitigate that is to be present in your own mind and body. That said, your astrology really is calling for a bold and fearless approach to it all.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — What does it take to unravel conditioning, guilt and resistance? What does it take to be the person you are every minute of the day, with no pretense? Usually it takes a process. For some people there can be a breakthrough or sudden awakening, and ultimately no matter what the process or lead-in may be there is that moment of choice, of full awakening. Your chart suggests two parallel experiences, as if you’re digging a tunnel from two sides of the river. From one side of the river is a trip through your conditioning, which is resulting in heightened awareness of your environment. You may have some shocking insights as you take this journey, and you may figure out that your perception is mostly the result of past impressions. At times they may seem impossible to escape, but once you see them you’re most of the way there. From the other side of the river, you are determined to express yourself. This is the external side of the journey, where you are setting yourself free to say what you want to say and make what you want to make. No matter how you look at this experience, the ultimate point of arrival is the same thing: not being trapped in the past. To most, this seems like a pipe dream or an absurd notion. To you it’s a necessity.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — We all live in ‘the environment’, which we usually think of as the air, the water, the neighborhood, the cityscape or some other external factor. You’re about to be taken on a journey through your mental environment. You will have the option and the ability to see how real, or unreal, it is. Yet real or unreal is not the actual dilemma. The dilemma is the relationship between inner and outer. To what extent is your inner environment influencing or even controlling your perception? The boundary between inner and outer may seem extremely thin at times, and at others, it may seem like it’s as wide as a canyon. The thing to do, while you have an excellent opportunity, is to experiment. Is it really true that when you smile the world smiles with you? Is it true that when you’re feeling depressed you cannot tune into happiness in a sincere way? How powerful is the mental filter? This question matters a lot, because if the answer is, ‘It controls everything else’, then you may decide that you need to learn how to master this element of yourself. Or at least, you may decide that you need to master the art of exploring your own mental environment. Events over the next few weeks will facilitate that, as long as you remember that everything you perceive is not necessarily what it seems to be.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — This month a pressure you’ve endured for quite a while starts to come off of you. You might also think of it as an external support system. Its absence will be an experiment, and a test of how strong you’ve become. You may not feel entirely confident, similar to the end of healing a physical injury, uncertain whether you’re up to who you were before. Yet this experiment is about going far beyond who you were, and it’s about exploring and developing new forms of strength. In the past, you have put great reliance on your emotional power to get the world to bend to your will. What you are learning is how to reason carefully. You have also been able to sidestep the idea of self-reliance, in part due to your ability to take part in structured entities and know how to work within the tribe. Yet Saturn making its first foray out of your sign this month is an indication that you will be learning some significant ways to be self-sustaining and emotionally independent. This also translates to a greater degree of freedom, which often you’ve been willing to sacrifice in exchange for certain social bonds that have sustained you. This will be a gentler process than you may think. Yet it will also be more meaningful and more necessary than you believe.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — This month, Saturn enters your sign for the first time since Nov. 12, 1988, when the prior Saturn in Sagittarius phase ended. Since this promises to be big news on the Internet, here are some time details, then one thought: Saturn enters your sign on Dec. 23, then retrogrades back into Scorpio on June 14, 2015, and finally settles into Sagittarius on Sept. 17, 2015 (where it will remain for two years). As for that thought: You’re entering a time of transition. Part of what will make that real is focusing what you’ve learned about yourself since this time in 2012, and taking that to heart. In particular, the central topic is the nature of fear and how you respond to it. You might say we live in the age of, ‘I know a lot, but I don’t do anything with the information’. You are entering the age of, ‘I must use everything I know about myself’. In essence, this is the time of mastering your accountability for yourself, which means being accountable for that elusive thing known as self-knowledge. This is the thing you’ve been waiting for. You may not think so, but as this quality of existence begins to pick up momentum, I think you will get the idea. Central to the theme is being the master of your own life. Yes, you can do it.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — If this isn’t the most interesting month of your life, it will likely come up on the top 10 list. It may be challenging to hold your center. You may feel like some vast change is about to sweep through your world. The astrology illustrates a scenario where you are surrounded by a vast amount of activity and energy, yet you appear holding yourself steady at a still point. Let the energy move around you. Allow yourself to be central rather than peripheral. Allow yourself to be the one sought after rather than the seeker. Allow others to be changed by you, without imposing any plans or intentions on them. There is so much momentum carrying you and your whole environment that you don’t need to. You will feel sane and stable if you observe rather than explain, if you allow your attention to expand rather than reacting to what others are saying or doing. I know that on Earth this is all easier said than done, but that’s true of just about anything. This will be worth the relatively small effort, with the greatest reward being the recognition of how many options you have open. To succeed at this you must do one thing, really — resist the temptation to rebel for its own sake. Speak softly and clearly when you truly have something to say — and trust that you will be heard.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Don’t let the pressure get to you. Keep your sense of humor. Get as much of your work out of the way before the holidays as you can, and give yourself a little space to live and breathe. Make sure that you plan plenty of time alone, get enough sleep as if it’s as important as oxygen or food. You are processing a lot. By that I mean that many of the revelations of past years are starting to make sense to you. Their truth and relevance is catching up with you and you are catching up with them. Yet this may be overwhelming, and I would propose that you need a vent. It might be a creative vent, an erotic one, or some time-shifting experience that helps you shift your context. Remember this if the inner pressure gets to be too much. While it’s also true that you have many worldly responsibilities at the moment, that is about to shift, and shift suddenly. You will still possess your influence, your insight and your modes of participation, but the burden of responsibility and perhaps of leadership is about to let up. I suggest you move with that, which for you will be a matter of trust. You have accomplished a lot the past two years, and I suggest you reflect on that with some true appreciation.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You’re about to get a taste of a kind of success that you may have decided was in the past, or that existed only in theory. You will not get there alone. What you are doing now, however, will take you further, and has a tangible quality that you may have been lacking. You are certainly someone who is motivated, even driven, by your dreams — though that is not nearly enough to satisfy you. From the look of your chart, what you want is accomplishment, which brings me to the ‘not alone’ part. The wealth in your life is the people in your life. This is not a fact that’s lost on them, and neither is their respect for you as an organizing principle. That, if anything, is how to think of yourself, rather than (say for example) as an achiever or leader. Your job is to pull the scene into focus. Your role is to propose purpose and to serve as a stabilizing factor in what is clearly an increasingly chaotic world. Your own stability will come from your ability to dance with the chaos rather than to resist it; and to gather energy rather than have it be depleted from you. To this end, food is a critical factor right now, as is water in all forms. Yet the real message of your charts in this rather large moment is to notice who is around you.

Eric Francis | Sex By Sign #16: Week of Nov. 21-28, 2014

Eric Francis Sex by Sign for GLYDE

ARIES - SEX BY SIGN ERIC FRANCISARIES (March 20-April 19)
Now is the time to admit what you really want from sex. I recommend this exercise for everyone, but for you now it has extra value. Put what you want into words; into plain speech. Get over any guilt that some pleasure you crave is not connected to a notion of a proper relationship. The two have nothing to do with one another. Then read what you’ve written and turn yourself on.

TAURUS Sex in Signs by Eric FrancisTAURUS (April 19-May 20)
There is a silent controversy over whether sex is about oneself, or about the other. But the debate settles itself; nothing would be happening, were you not there. No experience would exist, without your presence. Then you get to take that and make it relevant to someone else, but only after you’ve made it absolutely relevant to yourself, to the point where there is no denying what is plainly so.

GEMINI Sex by Signs Eric FrancisGEMINI (May 20-June 21)
You may discover that a number of old tendencies in relationships are not working. Though you may also know how difficult it is to alter what seem like they should be elementary patterns in how you relate to others. There’s a simple way to do this, which is to relate to the person in the moment, as who they are right now, and as who you are, right now. The past may have a lingering quality, but if you stay present it will vanish like shadows into the light.

CANCER Sex by Signs Eric Francis CANCER (June 21-July 22)
Your fantasies and desires may be tending in the direction of power and dominance, and there’s no telling which side of the equation you’ll want to end up on, top or bottom. Personally I think this is a healthy, even essential, set of polarities to explore. It’s also a place to put your real preference right out front where everyone can see it, which in the end is submissive no matter what role you choose to take. No matter what, no matter how much help you have, you will submit to yourself.

LEO Sex by Sign GLYDE by Eric FrancisLEO (July 22-Aug. 23)
Sex is play. That’s the thing everyone loves to forget. Well, not everyone, most people most of the time, who take a serious approach to the matter. There is nothing serious about this whole business of fucking, eating pussy, sucking cock or masturbating. Nothing at all. Over the next few days this may dawn on you like the morning light, and your sense of play will only enhance your sense of depth.

VIRGO Sex by Signs GLYDE Eric FrancisVIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
Take some time and write down the stories of your favorite sexual episodes of all time. Tell the stories in detail, including everything — what you said, what you did, how you felt about it and how your partner or partners responded. Story is an essential part of raising sexual consciousness. It’s an easy way to learn your preferences, to be bold about them, and to create the language to make them real.

LIBRA Sex by Signs Eric Francis GLYDELIBRA (Sept. 22-Oct. 23)
If you’ve ever craved indulging the most deeply self-centered aspects of sex, now is the time. You can, for example, turn any form of sex into a fully responsive expression of self-pleasuring. You’re likely to have the full cooperation of one or more people in this experiment if you’re able to articulate the words. Then all you need to do is dive in shamelessly — or honestly encounter any shame that you feel.

SCORPIO Sex by Signs Eric Francis for GLYDESCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
If your sexual desire seems overshadowed or overpowered by something bigger than yourself, I suggest you engage that thing directly. It’s more likely to be a feeling; it could be the feeling of wishing you could get yourself stoked up. Here is a clue. That desire contains the spark of erotic passion, small though it may be. There are some unusually kinky desires mixed up in this whole equation, subtle though they may seem at first.

SAGITTARIUS Sex by Sign Eric Francis GLYDESAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
Dark fantasies are meaningful and can be deeply pleasurable. The sex that most people want, by which I mean really, really want on the level of need, usually has a touch of the taboo to it, the dangerous, the transgressive. If your mind is going there, you can stay with it. If your body wants to go there, you have the ability and very likely the necessary friends or allies to make that happen too.

CAPRICORN Sex by Sign Eric Francis for GLYDECAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
It is arguable that all sex is about self-gratification and that in our era, nearly all sex has a narcissistic quality to it. Sometimes that line between it is and it isn’t is impossible to see. I propose that the metric is, to what extent are you curious about others — especially those who are curious about you? If you’re not interested, how does it feel to be self-absorbed? If you are curious about those other people, I think you will find it easy to get their attention.

AQUARIUS Sex by Sign ERic Francis for GLYDEAQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
I am one of those people who believe that there is such a thing as friends who are lovers. There are people in our lives who morph back and forth between friends and lovers, and friends with whom we have sex when appropriate. I also know that even the seemingly casual hookup can be profoundly meaningful, if you pay attention to the meaning and offer yourself body and soul (usually sober). What you just read is an approximate translation of your current chart.

PISCES Sex by Sign by Eric Francis for GLYDEPISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
Centaur sex comes to mind. This is sex where there are no rules except that everyone says yes. After that, it’s au naturel, as it happens. Just pay attention and make sure everyone is having a good time. There is infinite potential, and the opportunity to let go of your persona, crack your shell and come all the way out into the room. The best sex happens when you feel free. Right now the way is open.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope, Nov. 20 – 27

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Easy does it till the Sun ingresses your fellow fire sign Sagittarius on Saturday. By easy, I mean that what takes 25 pounds of effort today will take five pounds after the Sun has changed signs. Therefore, I suggest you invest your energy in something efficient, like planning ahead. You might want to try this thought experiment, just for fun. On Friday, sketch out what you consider to be some wide, far-reaching and extravagant plans. Then review them after the Sun has changed signs and ask yourself whether maybe you could expand your idea of your own potential. This will be the theme of your life over the coming year — stretching across the divide between who you are and who you could be. Just because your ideas get bigger doesn’t make them more difficult, or further away. Discovering yourself is a journey without distance to a goal that has never changed.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — There seems to be some difficult conversation you want to have with a loved one, though I suggest you pause and reflect until the Sun has entered Sagittarius on Saturday. It will be easier with the Sun in a fire sign. Whoever you’re speaking with will have a better perspective on what they have to gain by at least listening to what you want. What you’re going for here is a greater sense of potential than you might ordinarily feel within the confines of one relationship. You seem to want to express the full spectrum of your potential, and you also have an idea that one path to doing that is through intimate relationships. Consider how rare it is that any other person in the world would have a close enough idea of their own potential to match yours. That’s why this discussion must be encountered with an open mind and an even more open heart.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You seem to be hung up on one particular strategy for making something happen. Yet I suggest you check whether it’s really working, and in turn whether you need to throw your old plan to the wind. You might not get an idea of that until the Sun enters your opposite sign Sagittarius on Saturday, and you realize how much more is possible than you had in mind. The thing is, you may be stuck in the past, even if that past is what seemed like a brilliant idea one week ago. I suggest you set aside your entire strategy as you contemplated it earlier, including anything that seems like an emotional strategy or the desire to get someone to change their mind about something. Once the Sun changes signs, you will see that none of that matters, though you may feel like you’re getting way ahead of yourself. You’re not; you merely need to catch up with yourself.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You seem to be in a time crunch, though I think that will let up as the next few astrological developments unfold. You could benefit from experimenting with the idea that you actually have plenty of time to accomplish what you need to. This is an idea more than anything else; being rushed is often an idea rather than a reality. Often but not always, and I think this is one of the times when the pressure is more conceptual than it is real. There are, meanwhile, plenty of things you can do over the next week or so to move obstacles out of your way, and clear the space in front of you. Just doing that will help you feel like you’re in a more spacious reality. And that might reveal in a bold way that time is entirely a function of thought, closely related to belief. Most important, using your time is a matter of priorities.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Right now it’s easier to work out any emotional blocks or tension through creative activities than it is through other forms of ‘sorting yourself out’ or ‘getting to the bottom of things’. You may think this is cheating — painting your troubles away, or working it out on drums, or maybe even in bed. Well, on the art studio couch would be better. Art serves a purpose to humanity, and it’s not a luxury. It’s an absolute, bottom-line psychic necessity, and by the way it’s entirely unrelated to how creative you supposedly are or are not. The blank canvas or page, the silent space into which you can make sound, represent a more than symbolic encounter with total potential when you allow yourself a moment of anything at all being possible. Then you dare to do something, anything. The result is an effect that can soak through your entire being and inform every aspect of who you are.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You seem to be running circles in a small, dark space. There is a vast expanse just outside your door. Yet you have to step outside to see it, to feel and experience it. What you’re really doing is giving yourself a break from a particular mental thought pattern, which is also a change in environment. You can accomplish this most easily with a change in physical space, even if it’s a day trip or a few nights away. One method I use is that I have several work spaces, all equally functional. In weeks when I have 10 projects due, it helps to bounce around from space to space. Café-hopping can do the trick; there are many possibilities. The idea is to actually see and use the relationship between mental space and physical space. The constant change of perspectives will help you keep your ideas fresh and your mind interested in what you’re doing. Right now that is essential.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — From the look of your charts, the heavy feeling that may have been stalking you the past week or so is about to clear out of the way. However, it remains an option. That’s the thing to remember, and to remember all the time. State of mind, and emotional state, is optional. The problem is that it doesn’t always feel that way, and when you need that information the most you may be the least likely to have it available. Now is a good time to memorize the fact that you have a choice, because your options are not only wide open, they have equal magnetism, equal accessibility. You can move between them like moving from room to room in a physical space. Notably, all of your options have value right now; once you start exploring them you are likely to see that each supports the other. The most significant point here is learning how not to get stuck in any one of them.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Don’t worry about how to do it, just take the first step and get moving. You seem to think that you need to have your whole strategy or agenda planned out, but that’s never the way things work. Sure, you can sketch out a rough plan, but I think that even that would go against your purposes because you could easily get hung up on having that plan be the right plan. What you need is some momentum; what you need is movement in what seems like it might be a good direction to go. If you meet resistance or challenges, then take them one at a time. You are embarking on actual terrain, which has geographic features like hills and streams. These have never stopped the human race from getting anywhere, most of the time without a map, and I don’t think they will stop you.

If you have a Sagittarius Sun or Sagittarius rising (or have Sadge loved ones), your solar year begins with the ultimate ‘start now’ symbol: a New Moon in your sign just hours after the Sun makes its entrance. And that’s only the beginning.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

A little more than a month from now, Saturn makes its first foray into your sign — about a week before the start of the New Year. This is a total change of energy and shift of emphasis; as a Sagittarius, you appreciate new frontiers and adventures. If you’re skeptical about Saturn, remember that it actually offers a wealth of gifts; they just tend to be the kind you make yourself, metaphorically speaking. And they’re gifts that last.

Your birthday reading is available for pre-order now for a reduced price. Beat the holiday chaos, and enjoy some peace of mind knowing that as soon as Eric finishes the reading, you’ll be able to access it.

Your reading will consist of two half-hour (plus) segments of astrology, plus astrology afterthoughts and what seems to be everyone’s favorite — a tarot reading using the Voyager deck by James Wanless.

Two excellent extra features round out the package: access to last year’s reading, so you can check Eric’s work and check the progress of your life; and also a live call-in program so you can ask questions about what Eric covers and (to some extent) your own astrology.

If you’re friends with a Sagittarius, this reading makes a beautiful gift they’ll use and truly love. All Planet Waves readings are recorded in studio-quality audio, and can be listened to on any computer or mobile device.

You can pre-order the reading now for $24.95.

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Once the Sun enters your sign Saturday, followed immediately by a thundering New Moon, you will see how little you had to worry about. But that never stopped anyone from ruminating unnecessarily. Two points come out of your chart, besides the timing of the big turning point of the moment, that New Moon Saturday at 7:32 am EST. One is that you seem determined to follow your intuition. I would suggest rather than doing that, you allow it to lead you. There is plenty of intuition to go around, but one of its properties is that it has nothing to do with fear. Second, you may have a tendency to take on the emotional baggage of others. Be especially aware around your mother or anyone who reminds you of her, or when you slip into some of her tendencies. It is vital that you stick to your own values, with passion, awareness and determination.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You know what you want. You’ve earned that knowledge and you’ve earned the privilege of striving for your preferences. At the risk of stirring up revolt against this currently derided thing, privilege, I will say this: Semantically, the word privilege has its origins as a law that applies to one person. Later, it came to mean an advantage granted. If you have some advantage, you have granted it to yourself. Though there are obviously precursors to that — for example, you know how to read, you are educated, you have a bank account, and others — the privilege I am talking about is something you have given to yourself by your own effort. If you want a balancing factor, I suggest that you proceed in full awareness of your environment, and strive to be responsive to your environment. If everyone did that, we would all be privileged and we would live in something close to utopia.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — If you can get your mind off of work and responsibility, you will discover that this is a perfectly vibrant time in your life. True, you are the kind of person who is at home in your work. You seem to be more oriented on ‘my work is my life’ than the natural ‘I have boundaries and I punch out at 5 pm’ type. Sometimes, however, it’s good to make some distinctions in this area, and now is a fine time for that. Anyway, your astrology is magnetizing you out into the social world at the moment, and by the weekend this will pick up considerable momentum. So get among friends, get out into society, and tell only your best stories about what you’re accomplishing and the many trials and tribulations that you’ve surmounted on your way to being a master of the game.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — This weekend’s stunning New Moon in Sagittarius will put you into the spotlight. You’re already visible at the moment, though this will increase in a series of degrees over the next four weeks. Visibility is a good thing, for you. Contrary to the notion that Pisces people are reclusive and prefer to be invisible, there is also the extraverted, performance art type of Pisces. And this comes out in every fish person at some point — such as right now. Whatever you’re doing, visibility will help. Even if you’re a smuggler, be the kind who attends the Senate gala ball and you will blend in all the more perfectly. Other factors in your chart describe this moment as one of high achievement. Yes, there are issues brewing in the background, but you’ve got your wheels on the ground and have enough traction to be moving steadily. You may meet some truly influential people this week and next. Take phone numbers and make sure people remember your smile.

Eric Francis | Sex By Sign #15: Week of Nov. 14-21, 2014

Eric Francis Sex by Sign for GLYDE

ARIES - SEX BY SIGN ERIC FRANCISARIES (March 20-April 19)
When sex comes down to a power struggle, it has lost its real meaning. When sex is being used for some purpose other than pleasure, creativity and communication, it may be better to abstain, since the content of sex is what it’s all about. Of course, we tend to think these things are normal, and believe that sex must have a victim. My question is, do you feel overpowered by someone? My other question is, are you really? Your astrology answers those questions yes and no, respectively.

TAURUS Sex in Signs by Eric FrancisTAURUS (April 19-May 20)
People are starting to figure out how much fun dominance and submission play can be. Forget the recent bestseller and the forthcoming movie. This is not an activity exclusively for billionaires or people with rape fantasies. Dom/sub play is some of the most basic, garden variety fun you can have. The beauty of this form of play is how much it depends upon psychological awareness and the nuances of communication. It’s so beautiful because of the depth of intimacy involved.

GEMINI Sex by Signs Eric FrancisGEMINI (May 20-June 21)
The ongoing obsession with rape and with boundaries has another dimension, which is feeding the problem: most people don’t know how to negotiate sex. Sex is something that’s just supposed to mysteriously happen. One gets lucky, gets laid, their partner happens to be in the right mood or they can work their seductive powers. The astrology of the moment is about the art of conscious exchange. In your current environment, everyone has needs, and everyone has something to offer, which is perfect.

CANCER Sex by Signs Eric Francis CANCER (June 21-July 22)
Your sexual imagination is aligned with your intuition. You might think of your fantasies as movies you watch, or as wishful thinking. But in a sense they are also prescient. They offer glimpses of what is possible and even what is likely. Consider that something you can imagine very easily is also something you can manifest easily. In some significant way, your inner life is aligned with your outer life. Be attentive to both, watch people’s eyes and follow your sense of smell.

LEO Sex by Sign GLYDE by Eric FrancisLEO (July 22-Aug. 23)
Imagine how much better sex people would have if only they were more secure. Said another way, insecurity and lack of a sense of belonging contribute to a narrowing of the sexual possibilities. Yet your potential is opening up even as you read these words. That’s because you’ve finally taken to heart the quest for feeling safe on the planet, in your living space and in your skin. You don’t need to go the whole distance for this to have profound effects. You merely need to move in the necessary direction, which is exactly what you’re doing.

VIRGO Sex by Signs GLYDE Eric FrancisVIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
What is the story of your sexuality? By that I mean your history, and the narrative that goes with it? You may notice that your actual history is different than your narrative. You may notice that you have two narratives — one that you share with others, and one that you share with yourself. Your astrology is describing the perfect conditions to allow something close to the actual story to be the story that you develop and allow to influence your choices.

LIBRA Sex by Signs Eric Francis GLYDELIBRA (Sept. 22-Oct. 23)
One reason that masturbation is controversial is that it does not seem to involve a relationship. But anyone who has gone deep into the territory knows that it involves your relationship to yourself. The sex you have with yourself is an expression of the love that you feel for yourself. This may not seem like good news to those who don’t like to masturbate or who consider it a substitute for ‘real sex’. Or who knows, maybe you’re really, really into it. I will say this: You have some amazing territory to explore, and the opportunity to connect with the core of your erotic being, which is territory approaching the core of your psyche.

SCORPIO Sex by Signs Eric Francis for GLYDESCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
You seem self-absorbed. You seem pensive. You also seem very, very horny. Yet that does not combine well with  the darker shades of introverted. It may seem like a huge risk to try something more fun, but the real risk is letting go of one state of mind and plunging into another. If you do, what you’re likely to discover is how good it feels to vent some of that pent-up energy. The real issue is  giving you permission to take what, for you, seems like some kind of unusual chance, though only to gain the potential of some unusual reward.

SAGITTARIUS Sex by Sign Eric Francis GLYDESAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
I suggest you plunge deep into the heart of who you are and what you want. You’ve probably already begun this. The first step is to set your mind free. Allow yourself any fantasy, any desire, any need, no matter how taboo or seemingly controversial. The next step is to express this emotionally in some way. By express I mean the opposite of repress. By express, I mean to feel physically, and to connect your desire with where it’s coming from in your body. You are on a journey to the center, and there are many layers on the way.

CAPRICORN Sex by Sign Eric Francis for GLYDECAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
Let out some of the mojo that seems to be coursing through your blood, your bones, your heart and your soul. You have no need to hold it in — except maybe the fear of what other people might think. When it comes to sex, that is the very last thing that guides the choices of someone who seeks the freedom; indeed it is the first thing to confront, ignite and throw the ashes to the wild wind.

AQUARIUS Sex by Sign ERic Francis for GLYDEAQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
The foggy ruins of time are strewn with ridiculous ideas about sex and sexuality. Within my own lifetime, to give one example, homosexual activity was considered a crime, a contagious disease and a sin against someone’s idea of God. Now we can laugh at that. There are many other relics of the past that you can see for what they are, and in the process, love yourself for who and what you are, who you love and what you want to experience — no matter how much it may seem to conflict with someone’s notion of purity. No matter who, especially you.

PISCES Sex by Sign by Eric Francis for GLYDEPISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
Ease off a bit on stressful thoughts and activities and you will have plenty of energy for sex. Yes, the world is burning, exploding and going mad many places, and you’ve been through a good bit yourself the past few weeks. True, you have plenty to do. But beneath the storm clouds and the dust is a placid lake of creative and sexual energy. You won’t know that for sure until you get close to it, which I suggest you do, as soon as you can arrange it.
