You seem to be on the verge of completing a project or moving forward into the next phase of one, and at least part of the outcome may be uncertain, or subject to apparent chance. In some sense, however, this is true of all major decisions and actions we take; the future is unpredictable, and helping to create it takes courage. Focus on what you do know, the factors you can control for, and the strides you’ve already made. You are more than likely thoroughly prepared for whatever comes next.

Do you have a Leo Sun, rising sign or Moon? Your last couple years may have left you reeling trying to figure out which path forward is best. Hear Eric’s thoughts on expediting your post-eclipse process in your 2019-2020 Leo Astrology Studio reading.

Written in the Planets

The Pisces Moon moves through the ongoing square between Jupiter in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces today. This may lend an extra-dreamy, wistful or imaginative tone to visions for the future that might already be based more in fantasy than in reality. That’s not necessarily a bad thing; you may find your intuition is heightened, or that you’re able to feel your way toward a more nuanced or creative understanding of how you could move forward.

Saturn is in contact with Neptune as well, after all — though drawing on its discipline and structuring capabilities will require conscious choice and action on your part. Depending on your personal tendencies and circumstances, that could be too much a stretch today, but that’s okay. There will be time to harness Saturn when the Moon’s in a more action-oriented sign, and chances are you’ll feel the shift.

For now, keep tabs on unexpected ideas and insights (preferably by documenting them), and don’t be surprised if you and those you’re with change your minds randomly. If that impacts pre-set commitments and promises, you may need to renegotiate them. Doing so is only fair, though guilt need not play a role. Clear boundaries make for healthy relationships (and can also be renegotiated), and should actually help the ongoing good vibes of the Leo Sun and Venus find the space they need to flourish and warm all. Particularly artsy or playful pursuits could feel good today.

It might seem to you as if various recent storms and shake-ups are essentially the shape of your daily life now. Yet every moment of change or turbulence is offering you an opportunity to review and make alterations where you see fit. Put another way, you could consider these events as a kind of beta test, showing you how far your current routines serve you. This should also highlight any knotty areas, most likely the sources of any dissatisfaction you feel. Focusing your energy there will make the biggest difference.

Jupiter has stationed direct, and is now heading for its square to Neptune. This will be an extended study in what is true and what is not; what is real and what is something else. Still, the forward motion of Jupiter is saying take steps toward your goals, and test them out. See what activity you stick to, and what sticks to you. Meanwhile, the tide is rising toward the Aquarius Full Moon. This lunation is shouting the same thing from every angle you may read it: get together with others. Do it somewhere that money does not have to change hands. Check your phone at the door, preferably in a bucket of ice water. Notice who is around you, what they say and how they feel. Notice the same things about yourself.

Life may be something of a wild ride at present, though you seem generally grounded and able to weather the various plot twists. Part of mastering this is basically accepting that chaos and novelty are a part of existence. Once you recognize this, the process becomes more of an adventure. You have everything you need within you, and just now you seem to possess a knack for fashioning lasting and valuable gifts from a continually fluctuating world. This is an impressive capability indeed.

Today’s the big day (big, because Jupiter is the planet of expansion! Sorry — couldn’t resist): Jupiter stations direct in Sagittarius today at 9:37 am EDT / 13:37:11 UTC. Do you have a sense of what you’d like to increase in your life, or where you could use a little more momentum?

Jupiter stations direct in a square to Neptune in Pisces, and in a conjunction to a deep-space phenomenon called the Great Attractor. The Jupiter-Neptune square describes your goals and dreams being thrust into the glare of reality. Do they stand up on their own footing, or do they evaporate? You may feel a push to see what’s what, which is really an opportunity to demonstrate the validity of your plans and the solidity of your ideals. The only way to really do that might be to get out there and take a chance on them, though that idea extends beyond just today.

Jupiter conjunct the Great Attractor in this situation may describe the sensation of polarities switching — like if you were a magnet, and the positive and negative ends suddenly reversed. It might not be that dramatic and obvious, but it could be. It’ll be up to you to notice whether you experience anything like that, either in a physical/material way, or in terms of your outlook on your priorities or a particular belief. Keep asking the challenging questions — even if you’re not sure you’ll come to an answer — and see if your ideal destination comes into better focus.

Jupiter Stations Direct in Sagittarius

By Amanda Painter

On Sunday, Jupiter will station direct in Sagittarius, the first of two signs it traditionally rules (the other being Pisces). I know a few people who’ve been feeling like some part of their lives has been less able to develop over the last several months, or like it’s been hard to home in on a goal or vision. Jupiter traveling in apparent retrograde motion since April 10 is as good an image as any for that sensation, if it’s one you’ve been experiencing.

In these final days before Jupiter makes its switch (which happens at 9:37 am EDT / 13:37:11 UTC on Aug. 11) it might be helpful to ask yourself some questions. The answers may be slow to emerge after the station direct; I have never tried to track whether Jupiter stations tend to arrive with the same kind of ‘sudden truth’ moment that Mercury stations can signal. I suspect that the expansive nature of Jupiter may correlate to a wider window of revelation and reorientation.

Yet this may be a good time to start practicing and opening up the space via these questions. Such as: how in touch do you feel with your sense of purpose or your vision for your life? What are you noticing right now about the lessons you’ve learned and the patterns you’ve perceived that contribute to your worldview and sense of yourself in it?

You are making discoveries about yourself — feelings, desires, inclinations that you might previously have set aside or not been fully aware of. Recent events or sudden changes may have precipitated these revelations, though they are no less genuine for that. Often we learn about ourselves through our reactions to external movements. It would be advisable to avoid any kind of self-judgment during this process; hold space for yourself and allow your understanding to develop without restriction.

Just one more day after today, and then Mercury stations direct in late Cancer (overnight Wednesday into Thursday). How much patience, humor and resilience can you bring to your day, no matter what goes wrong or gets delayed or misunderstood? What do you need to say to someone — and if you’re holding back, why is that? What do you need to admit to yourself? And how are you feeling about it all?

Note that Mars is in a conjunction to the asteroid Juno in Leo, and together they are squaring the asteroid Vesta in Taurus. This could describe some kind of frustration or jealousy in a relationship (particularly sexual) — as well as the potential to work too aggressively to get intimate needs met, or to push past or downplay them to soothe a bruised ego. Any feelings of powerlessness in such a situation could likely exacerbate things, which emphasizes the importance of ’emotional intelligence’ as described by Mercury in Cancer.

That is, the more you are able to see and articulate your feelings and thoughts honestly to yourself, the easier it may be to share them with those close to you without undue force. Neptune in Pisces is also aspecting Mars, Juno and Vesta. It appears to offer the creativity needed to hold space for expressing these feelings with steadiness, empathy and maybe even some higher-vibe vision. Just be aware that this could take continual small adjustments as hopes and expectations are revealed for what they are: an ideal, but not reality. We human beings disappoint each other all the time; but in dealing squarely with ‘what is’, sometimes we open the way wider for what could be.

Mercury returning to your sign on your birthday suggests that you potentially have an opportunity to go over old ground. Are there any particular aspirations or dreams you laid aside in the past that you might now be free to take up again? Or perhaps you feel inclined to restructure your daily life, so as to allow more time for what is most important to you. Either way, remember that only you ultimately have the power to determine where your energy is directed.

With a fair number of planets in water signs currently, do you feel like the current keeps shifting? That could apply to your inner emotional tides, or to what’s going on with the people around you. The primary sources of dry land right now — astrologically speaking — also speak more of change than stability (specifically Uranus in Taurus, and the building Saturn-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn). Can you hang a little loose, and go with the flow?

By that, I mean keeping your expectations of yourself and others loose, while still letting a general vision for what you want guide you. Venus and Neptune are assisting with the imaginative power needed for that. Yet with Mercury retrograde — and leaving Leo to enter late Cancer early today — it’s wise to remember that your thought processes might not be as precise as you’d like. Mercury returning to Cancer looks like a signal to remember your emotional intelligence: keep a finger on how you’re truly feeling (and how to express it rather than react from it), and stay as aware as possible of others’ emotions.

Do your best to say what you mean and mean what you say — while understanding that the person you’re talking to might not be quite as vigilant on that score. Asking direct questions the moment you realize you’re unsure of someone’s intended meaning is likely the best policy, even though (or maybe especially because) the sky’s emphasis on Cancer describes a tendency to proceed sideways or indirectly, based on intuition, empathy and one’s own sensitivities. That strategy has its place, but looks potentially more unreliable than usual right now. If you encounter an intense romantic or sexual situation, the need increases to integrate those softer forms of perception with conscious communication. Tonight’s Pisces Moon favors artistic pursuits and entertainments, whether you seek them out on the town or cozied up at home.

It’s possible you’re lately feeling stretched a little thin. If so, make a point of keeping in mind that your time, energy and funds are all precious and have their limits. Everyone needs to withdraw from the bustle of the outside world sometimes, even the most flamboyant of extraverts. You can be unapologetic about taking a little more space for yourself when you need it, and you can delegate where necessary. There’ll still be more than enough to keep you busy.

Today’s trine between Venus in Cancer and Neptune in Pisces suggests a pretty thorough soaking in all things day-dreamy, fantasy, intuitive and sensitive. Yet it’s been in the works all week — so rather than getting suddenly doused, chances are it’s been more like gently wading deeper into the warm waters of your more romantic or sentimental inclinations. If that has felt at all worrisome (or too soggy to be able to stay on top of practical matters), know that this is the peak and the effect should begin gradually evaporating in a few days.

Trines do not speak of an urgent need to express oneself as with a square; they’re not confrontational like an opposition. Even so, if you have any creative leanings — or simply a desire to move your life in a new direction — you might see if you can funnel some of this imaginative juice into a tangible form you can play with. The Moon in Aquarius today could describe the potential to do so in a group setting, particularly if there’s an unusual project that meshes with your inner musings.

Stay aware that Mercury is still very much retrograde (through July 31). If you noticed that it felt especially trickster-like in the buildup to the Full Moon on Tuesday, you’re not alone; take it as a reminder not to be too quick on the trigger with emails and verbal assertions. Today, Mercury makes a trine to retrograde Ceres, which is in the first degree of Sagittarius. If some person or situation has been gently, subtly teaching you things about yourself, related insights might be especially accessible today.

Use your intuition — it will guide you well. However, be aware that it has certain properties. It rarely ever speaks of fear, of attack, or of defense. That is something else. Intuition might calmly guide you away from danger or toward opportunity. It’s the gentle tug, the voice whispering in your ear, the knowledge or understanding of something unfamiliar to you that turns out to be not just right, but helpful. It’s the kind of thing that comes to you; you don’t go to it.

Written in the Planets

The current trine between the Cancer Sun and Neptune in Pisces describes heightened sensitivity to the subtler psychic realms — including through meditation or other quiet spiritual practices. This aspect briefly becomes a grand trine in the water signs as the Scorpio Moon activates Sun-Neptune. That could mean emotional intensity, or a desire to go deeper into an experience. All week the Sun-Neptune trine has been fostering this kind of thing; the Moon passing through (at about 2:00 pm EDT) might provide a sense of getting carried along with the current. If you’re especially sensitive this way already, you might wish to stay aware of your psychic boundaries.

On a less ‘woo-woo’ level: Sun-Neptune trines, especially in these signs, can indicate over-idealizing romantic relationships. If you’re putting yourself second to someone else’s needs, particularly to a degree that could be called self-sacrifice, it may be time for a reality check. Is the other person ‘worthy’ of so much of you? Do they at least seem to be trying to meet your efforts in some way? An outside eye might be helpful in assessing this.

Also exact today is the Mars-Uranus square in the signs Leo and Taurus. Beware of perceived threats to your ego, as they can easily lead to bursts of anger — and with Mercury retrograde, communication could get unnecessarily heated and complicated. If others seem to be blowing up at you instead, consider two things: one, that it may be all about their own ‘stuff’, not you; two, that it could be a signal to check whether you’ve been avoiding your own need to break away from something. Has anything related to the situation stagnated for you? The more you can be proactive about using restlessness to initiate long-term creative change — rather than just acting on pure impulse — the more likely you are to reap fulfilling results.
