In case you missed it, here’s Friday’s special interview with former New York Times reporter James Risen, who left the paper in August to join The Intercept as senior national security correspondent. This week, he published a 15,000-word story headlined “The Biggest Secret: My Life as a New York Times Reporter in the Shadow of the War on Terror.” The explosive piece describes his struggles to publish major national security stories in the post-9/11 period and how both the government and his own editors at The New York Times suppressed his reporting, including reports on the Bush administration’s warrantless wiretapping program, for which he would later win the Pulitzer Prize. Risen describes meetings between key Times editors and top officials at the CIA and the White House. His refusal to name a source would take him to the Supreme Court, and he almost wound up in jail.

Settle for nothing less than perfect alignment of yourself with who you are, what you do, and who you aspire to being. Among friends and colleagues, you’re someone who is looked to as an example of what is possible. Yet you’re only using a small fraction of your potential, and the rest is right within reach. You are ready, and you’re surely willing. So make it happen.

Stop yourself every time you notice yourself saying, “But what would my [mother/father/family] think?” This may be subtle; it may be below the level of tangible inner dialog, though the message will still come through.

Saturn’s return to your birth sign describes a sense of completeness you have not felt for a very long time, if ever. Take a moment to collect yourself: a week or two of reflecting on your goals and preparing your mind.

Written in the Planets
Today the Moon enters Libra and makes a square to Saturn. This might be a worthwhile moment for considering how you’re acclimatizing to Saturn in Capricorn. What have the last few weeks been like for you? If it’s been somewhat challenging so far, this contact from the Libra Moon may signal a chance for you to make peace with this placement. As this is a square aspect, though, you’ll need to put in the effort actively: to ferret out and work consciously with any issue that could have arisen. Think of it like replacing your car or bicycle (or armchair) — often at first you find yourself needing to adjust the seat, or add extra support. There may be something equally simple you can do to ease the present process.
