You May Listen to Current Birthday Reading Samples for Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius

Hello Planet Waves Readers:

The audio links below are the first section of the Sagittarius, Capricorn and Aquarius birthday readings. These are paid products, though I want to share with you a bit of them so you can get a feel for what I do. The readings are in three sections, which include a tarot section in the third part.

As you may know, I do a reading through the year for each of the 12 signs, when the Sun is in that sign. This is different from the our annual edition (this year, called Cosmophilia), where I release all 12 signs at once. The readings are different as well. Even given the depth and scope of the annual readings, I have plenty more to say.

You’re invited to listen the part one (of the three parts) of the most recent three readings. These readings are valid for your rising sign and Moon sign and also include excellent examples of how to interpret astrology in a down to earth way.

Thanks for tuning in.

Notes from a Resonant Universe — Cosmophilia Feedback is In

Monday is Groundhog Day, and first I have a correction — contrary to what I wrote in an article two weeks ago (Published in Planet Waves and Chronogram), and in a prior article in 2000, groundhogs (also known as woodchucks) actually do hibernate.

Not your ordinary wildlife -- the groundhog is the largest member of the squirrel family. Photo from Earthsky.org.

According to Ted Andrews, author of Animal Speak, they are true hibernators, whose body temperature drops to 40 degrees F, down from the usual 96 when not hibernating. Their pulse drops from 110 beats per minute to four or five beats — a yogi-like trick of slowing down their metabolism and conserving energy.

So distinctive is their hibernation that Andrews describes them as embodying “the mystery of death without dying, trance and dreams.”

I’m not sure where I acquired that incorrect fact in my original article on Imbolc; I’m still trying to figure that out, since the original article (in StarIQ.com) had a great research team on board. In any event it’s now Groundhog Day.

Apart from the ridiculous tradition of live-televised weather divination, groundhogs can represent signaling boundaries, which they tend to keep to a minimum. Their main boundary is their home, that is, their tunnel.

The groundhog “is also a symbol of opening fully to the dreamtime, the heavy winter sleep, allowing the individual to use the dreamtime more powerfully. those with a groundhog totem will find that there will be increasing ability to develop lucid dreaming — especially during the winter. Any time groundhog shows up, the clarity and power of altered states will be amplified. Dreams will become more significant.”

Cosmophilia: You Belong Here, is Here!

Dear Planet Waves Reader:

At last, the 2015 annual edition — Cosmophilia: You Belong Here — is ready. After nearly six months of work, we have some of the most original, helpful astrology readings you’ll ever get, coupled with spectacular art and original music for all 12 signs and rising signs. [Samples here.]

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

There are many areas of the site that are available to all readers, even those who have not purchased the sign readings. You’re invited to check out our brand new website and read my introduction on how the biophilia hypothesis — that all life has an affinity for other life — led to cosmophilia.

I also offer a free audio presentation right on that page that takes you through the territory and wherein I describe how I prepared these readings. They include 4,000-word written interpretations for each sign and rising sign, plus an hour-plus of audio for each sign and rising sign.

In addition, you may read samples of all 12 sign readings here. Those samples provide you with links to purchase at the pre-order price, which we will be raising by Wednesday morning. You may purchase all 12 signs and rising signs, or purchase by individual sign.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

In addition, all of the featured articles are available to all readers. Many different writers have commented on the theme of belonging, including those writing about adoption, Chiron outsiderhood, the life of the inner artist, daring to be happy and being an outsider within a community of outsiders. Please check these out and share with whomever you think will benefit; more articles will be added in the coming days.

The Planet Waves annual is a longstanding Internet tradition. This is the 16th time we have published an annual edition (always in mid-January). The annual is designed as an offering of in-depth astrology readings and a reminder of our place and time in cultural history.

Please take a look around. I think you’ll love it.

Monday Tarot Reading — Monday, Jan. 19, 2015

By Sarah Taylor

Here’s an interesting fact: every single reading so far this year has had a major arcana card in the first card position. That means we have had four consecutive readings with a thematic archetypal card on the left — indicating that the foundation to what we are entering into with each reading is soul-based.

The Devil, Ten of Cups, Six of Disks from The Röhrig Tarot deck, created by Carl-W. Röhrig. Click on the image for a larger version.

Put another way: all four readings may well be dealing with the ins and outs of our lives, yes; but they are also dealing with what is going on behind the scenes on a psycho-spiritual level. The day-to-day is the façade that overlays the playing out of something deeper. What you are doing — who you are choosing to be in every moment — is having a greater impact than you might know.

This is because major arcana cards are telling you something about how you, as an individual, both impact and are impacted by the collective. There is a paradox at work (when isn’t there?). That is: how do you appreciate and live out being part of a greater whole while also remaining true to who you are as a unique expression of life?

Let’s see how this is taking shape in the present through the cards in front of us this week.

When I showed this spread to one of my colleagues and collaborators, their first response nailed it, in my opinion: “Boobies everywhere.

The Ten of Cups is also known as “Satiety.” It is the card of family, and inherent in that is the idea of nurturing. Next to The Devil, however, and linked by the two breasts, side-by-side, you come face-to-face with the idea of nurturing in its shadow form: it asks you to look at what stifles, what neglects, what ‘nurturing’ means to you when you look inside the closet of your life and ask the question,

What it is that I have turned to to nourish me that did not nourish me in the conventional sense? What is it that was offered to me that I suckled from when I had little or no choice, because it was all that was available?

And, more important, “How can I transform this understanding into something that really can feed me? How does owning the shadow that my family mirrored to me — which is mirrored in the idea of the ‘families’ that we are still part of — give me the tools to start finding new ways to satisfy, to fulfil, myself?”

The Ten of Cups is the last numbered card in its suit. Something is full up; it has to shift. There is a movement towards emptying out so that there is room for the new. If what filled you was ‘devilish’ in its own sense, you have the opportunity now to replenish your cup — the vessel of your heart — with something altogether more conscious, and more aligned with your needs and desires.

What this has the potential to lead you to is the Six of Disks, or “Success.”

Much like the repeat visits by major arcana cards, the Sixes have also been having their day in this column. Last week, on Jan. 11, we had a Six card at centre: the Six of Swords — itself a reappearance from its presence in the reading of Dec. 14. More significantly, on Jan. 1, we had the Six of Disks in the same position as this week, which suggests that what you were working towards then is still very much in your sights and still coming along your path towards you.

The Sixes in tarot refer to the resumption of forward motion after the pause of the Fours and confusion of the Fives. The Six of Disks is that resumption as it expresses itself in your world — so this movement will be felt outwardly. Here, it is felt as a gathering.

There is a saying that you can choose your friends but not your family. In this reading, it is refined into the idea that you may not have been able to choose who was the caretaker of your emotional needs in your family of origin, but you can create something different now, which supports you in a new way — one that holds your heart, tends to it, stands by you and shares in your achievements.

It starts with you.

It starts with acknowledging your experience; what it has, and has not, given you; and what it has shown you about what you need to give yourself in order to thrive. If you do this, coming up soon is tangible feedback that the steps you are taking are ones that have the ability to enfold you in a new way of belonging.

A Cosmic Clue: Cosmophilia Coming Soon

Here is a free audio preview for Cosmophilia.

Dear Friend and Reader:

Cosmophilia: You Belong Here is almost ready. I’m nearing the end of the writing process and a six-month journey of research, chart-casting, analysis, recording and preparing your 2015 readings. They are beautiful, and I plan to have them in your hands soon.

Each set of annual readings is centered on a theme. This year’s theme is belonging, on the most practical level. I have studied the charts for information about your inner process — where you are, how you got here and where you’re heading. I then place that in the context of your environment — your surroundings, your relationships, your goals, and the many tasks at hand.

The result is a series of readings that help you see your life in its wider context; see the potentials you have; identify the choices you need to make; and assemble this into a cohesive presentation.

Because so many people struggle to have any sense of belonging on this planet, in our society and at this time, we’re dealing with a potentially controversial subject here. Many factors push people into a kind of psychic and physical exile. Many people spend their lives trying to make contact with themselves, their purpose and their environment.

Belonging is more than fitting in. It’s about a productive relationship, a creative relationship, between you and the life you inhabit. It’s about establishing some common ground with your environment, and tuning into a sense of purpose. I don’t mean theoretical purpose; I mean one you can explore and express.

Astrology is a study of where your character traits and inner developments match your environment. By its nature, astrology is a study of that very point of contact. In these readings, I explore both your inner and outer environments in careful detail. Then I describe what those have in common; where the meeting places are; where you can look for meaning.

Photos from today’s protest in Paris

Place de la Nation about 7pm tonight. Right after I took this, I looked around and realized I had lost my friend. People were streaming into Nation from Voltaire and Charonne and it was getting denser and denser. To one side of me were the TV cameras with their bright lights, the other side were the Solidarité signs, and I was in the middle of streams of people traffic going in opposing directions. I imagined watching us from above, these teeny grains of sand trying to move around and get somewhere, chanting and photographing and holding up signs. Photo by Danielle Voirin.
