Frank Herbert begins the immortal Dune series with the statement that the beginning is the time to make sure that balances are correct. There have been many out-of-balance beginnings in your life in recent years and in general I would say a rather significant struggle finding balance at any time. The odd thing is that you’ve succeeded. You’ve mastered something within yourself or at least you are getting a taste of what that kind of success feels like. Now take a few more balanced steps. Walk on the world’s surface without the fear of falling. It’s nice.

You must handle confrontations very carefully over the next few weeks, being certain that you are responding only to real and present factors and not to your own psychological history. And you can do it. Think of every meeting as an opportunity, a potential source of energy, and an expression of vitality. Remember when you were confronted in the past and how you felt; consider carefully how far you have come, because it’s a truly impressive fact. What you are healing at long last is a tendency to be faithless; to deny what is just over the horizon merely because you cannot see it.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Aries weekly for Dec. 1, 2001

In an effort to cope with reality, you might try to make the world more simple, or to make yourself more complex, even when you know these things are not true. But if you do this, there’s a loss of contact possible, a constriction of data flow between you and the people around you. This may account for the sacrifice of your relationships in the past year or so, but it’s surely easy enough to learn how to get beyond. Interact with people, in language. Try not collecting knowledge, but rather, using it. And please do remember that mastering knowledge does not mean mastering people. The two are related, but the only person you really want to master is yourself, with great discretion, and in a spirit of freedom, if such are possible. But as for knowledge: the one sure way to tell if it’s meaningful is whether it changes you.

You may be feeling something unusual, for you — being daunted by the presence, the talent or the passion of someone else. You’re usually the one who nobody can touch, the one people look up to and who seems to have some kind of superhuman quality. Now you get to feel what it’s like to have someone like that in your life, someone you admire profoundly and who you know is having a deep influence on the course of your life. Now is the time to let your relationships — this one, and others — feed you. You’re not in a submissive posture in these situations; indeed it is your strength that is allowing you to have the ability to be stable and secure enough to actually receive what other people are offering. This really is the key — receiving. There is not a therapist alive who will deny that people struggle with this, though if you’re aware of it, you can end that struggle now. Life is holding out some of its richest offerings to you right now, and will be for the foreseeable future. Open up and allow yourself to embrace them fearlessly.

Migratory birds know where to go based on the position of the Sun. Right now it seems as though you are receiving irresistible cravings to explore the world either physically through travel or verbally through intense philosophical discussion. In this case, the cues you are receiving are the Sun in its seasonal position and the thought that transformation is due in your own life very soon. When the birds take to the sky, they do it in groups. They have survived the aeons because they can blend their consciousness easily for the betterment of the whole. Indeed, transformation does not come easily if it’s looked at as a solo mission.

Someone is being forced to conform with your values, and it’s not happening easily. As a Scorpio you are blessed with the ability to tune that kind of thing out; so what if it’s difficult? As long as it’s necessary! I propose, however, that you take a little time and space and check in with what this person — who is obviously an important and devoted partner — is feeling. There’s a lot you can do to facilitate their changes, and it would be more than magnanimous to do so. It would suit your eminently practical nature, and make everyone happier, too.

Beneath the many things you are experiencing and seeking information about, there is one truth. It’s your personal truth, and its main characteristic is that every separate event, incident, feeling and symptom leads straight down to it — as if they are all pages in one great volume, each of which leads to the binding that holds them all together. Where you’ve gone wrong in the recent past has been attempting to apprehend and solve each problem separately. Now, it’s true enough that our minds are carefully trained to divide and conquer, so you can’t count on conventional thought to get you to where you need to be. And what else is there? There is the careful study of patterns, and the miracle of pattern recognition. Look at every issue, in writing, preferably, and ask what they all have in common. When in doubt, start with any two. Keep going. In a little while, you’ll stumble upon something you’ll value for the rest of your life.

You may not feel that an opportunity you’re being offered is big enough, meaningful enough or pays well enough, but don’t let that stop you. Unlike other similar circumstances in the past, what is coming your way now is based on substance more than it is on appearance. Your movement in the outer world is merely a reflection of the progress you’ve made in your inner life. Therefore, a small development can lead to a series of larger ones, primarily because you are building on solid ground. This is much more likely to evoke solid responses from people which, in turn, will lead to more progress. Think of every development as being a door to somewhere else. Go through the door and immediately ask where you are.
