Be patient with a professional situation. Your role in the world is changing fast, and it’s about time. What feels like crossed-communication or a confusing circumstance is working itself out quite well, and at this point there’s no use rushing things. Keeping a handle on certain aspects of your personal life is by far the wiser investment of your concern. If others seem lost in a fog or bent on representing reality in a way that just doesn’t add up, it’s a fair enough presumption that they’re going through an important process of trying on certain aspects of life that they’ve long denied are really meaningful to them. Remember that changes anyone close to you goes through represent opportunities for you to renegotiate the terms of relationship, and thus, to redefine yourself. In such processes, intentions are everything. If a discussion or situation seems to be exceeding the bounds of sanity or meaning, keep coming back to your original intentions for being there — or anywheres.

I was about to write that it’s not possible to devote too much energy to self-esteem, though if you are, I suggest you ask yourself why that is. I’ve said many times that in terms of personal psychology, the self-esteem deficit is one of the most serious problems we face as individuals and as a society. You’re in exactly the position you need to be in to make some bold progress on this seemingly intractable issue — but to do so, you need to be unusually honest with yourself. I suggest you start by questioning and even stopping the things you typically do to make yourself ‘feel better about yourself’. This might range from any form of self-improvement technique to the designer handbag. You might also include accounting for the influences of medication, on the chance that might be involved. Treat these things as cover-ups for both the real problem and the real solution. They interfere on two levels: one is a physical obstruction, and the other is a matter of where you invest your faith. You don’t want to feel good about who you are; rather, I would propose that what you want is to have faith in yourself.

And when you discover human qualities that are less than pleasant or honorable you’re usually equally fair because we’re all capable of being difficult or immature. It’s essential that you maintain this sense of fair-mindedness over the next few weeks, particularly if you encounter someone who did you wrong in the past. How we handle injustice is one of the most important spiritual tests there is; it’s a reality check on whether we truly feel in our hearts that love is stronger than darkness. It is — if we remember.

By one measure, the purpose of life is healing. It’s not the only measure, and healing takes many forms. Not all of them are boring or arduous; many are inadvertent results of exploring honest pleasure. Your current involvement in a relationship is a good example of this. There seems to be an undertow of some kind pulling you toward some destination that you were not expecting and could not have predicted. This is including an inner confrontation that is potentially coming with a sense of loss or sacrifice. You might ask what you’re having to give up, and more significantly, what you want that would have an even greater emotional value. The situation you’re in is compelling you to assess what is important to you in a deep way, particularly where a key relationship is concerned. You know you cannot go forward from this point without being absolutely honest with yourself; and the bottom line is that if someone close to you is not willing to be equally honest, there’s not much of a meeting. You haven’t seen the end of this particular discussion, so I don’t suggest you predict how it’s going to go — only that you be real with yourself from day to day, and make sure you have some of the beauty and pleasure you seek in the present, not in the future.

Events of the coming hours and days are likely to set off a chain of events in your life over which you have exceedingly little control, and thank God for that. Aquarius is the sign of freedom, but buried deep within the Aquarian psyche is hidden a desire to conform to power and structure that is actually a relic from long gone days. You don’t need to worry about outcomes. Indeed, to do so would be unwise, because your mind is not prepared to hold ideas large enough, or radical enough, to support the vaguest notion of what’s in store for you as the current phase of your life unfolds. Rather, and this should be fairly easy, focus on ethos, the living inner spirit of all that’s good, right and true in this world of which you are, for the moment, a barely part.

Lately you’re playing the role of the beloved Lt. Uhura of the Enterprise. Her job was to find the right frequency on which to speak to any aliens in the vicinity, to persist until meaningful contact was established, and to keep the conversation cool. Don’t worry if you have to be compromising, diplomatic or flexible — those are strengths and assets that will work to your advantage. The important thing is that you understand what others are saying, and that you then guide things into the next step of making sure you’re understood. This would be especially true if someone seems aggressive or single-minded. Apparently you have something they need. In the kind of interpersonal politics with which you’re currently involved, it’s in bounds to trade favors, to use leverage and to turn a potentially contentious situation into something useful that works for everyone. Be creative; be fair; go for what you want.

It may take you a while to figure out that you’re aggravated or a bit shocked by something, but make sure you don’t take anything going on at home into your work environment. That’s not a solution, however — what you’re blessed with at the moment is one of those situations where discord or strife can be turned around and developed into an opportunity for healing and growth. Some people seem to understand this concept (and potential) exists, and for others it’s not quite believable. The proof is in the experience, and you’re in a position to guide things in this direction; this would begin with openly stating your willingness to participate in that. Remember that it is participation more than ‘making’ something happen. Your willingness may not seem like much, but it’s the very key to healing. And once you’re in the flow, it’s much easier for others around you to get in the flow, often without even having to say anything. Healing always proceeds from the inside out.
