Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly for November 2011.

As children, we’re given one all-or-nothing relationship option to which all roads supposedly lead, which is marriage. This turns out to be like signing a credit card application: there are many hidden concepts lurking beneath the surface, which eventually manifest. This would be less of an issue if marriage were not the one and only acceptable notion of two people getting together. And this notion is so prevalent, and so taken for granted, that nearly every other form of relationship models itself after it. You’re now in a time of questioning all of the assumptions that you make in your relationships, or that you’ve ever made. To question an assumption you first have to know what it is, so you can look at it, decide if it’s true, and create some alternatives. This falls under the general heading ‘becoming aware of that which was previously unconscious’. Once you start exploring this topic, you’re going to find all sorts of interesting things you overlooked, and when you address them (mostly with decisions) your relationships are going to be a lot happier. These include expectations placed on others and yourself, hidden agendas, conditions, ideas about the value of sex, shared property and a diversity of other topics. The idea is not to resolve them all, but rather to embark on a process of keeping all of your conditions on the surface, where you can see them.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Libra monthly for September 2000.

If you hit some rough water on the way to your birthday, please don’t take it as a premonition that you’re facing a difficult year. Far to the contrary. I see the next few weeks as a time in which you can finally purge yourself of some greatly exaggerated cosmic fears, and at the same time connect with the higher truth of who you are. Note how this equation works: fear of a certain kind conceals the truth, and thus points the way to it. It’s a truly valuable resource. Yet the long-term outlook is so bright for Librans, there are so many gifts in store and ways out of what you no longer want, that you may indeed forget to work with this particular universal balancing tool. Stay in communication with your fears, and the fears of those around you. Look for their origins in consciousness, space and time. The rest — and there is quite a bit — will take care of itself.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Pisces weekly for Aug. 1, 2003.

Figure out which aspects of your thinking are backwards. Backwards includes acting as if you exist in some time rather than the present; or in reversing responsibility for whatever situations you face; or wanting things you don’t really want; or aspiring downwards; or not putting first things first. Backwards also includes not distinguishing truth from lies in their various forms or not noticing certain things that are supposed to nourish you actually deplete you. If you can see where your thinking is backwards, it will be much easier to straighten it out.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Cancer monthly for January 2001.

Much of your story for the approaching seasons surrounds how you define yourself in the context of others, and how they define themselves in the context of you. You have opportunities to come to many new understandings about yourself and the world, but rather than consciously “deciding what you are,” the greater gift will be about seeing, through a process of elimination, who you are not. So, don’t be afraid to identify and release old ideas about yourself. Be mindful of how relationships, that is, any interactions with the people around you, hold you to old self-concepts, often so that they are not put in a position to be challenged and grow; and please notice when you do this to others. It’s vital to your own progress that you see this in action, and not be afraid to redefine yourself because others may grumble, no matter how wise they may seem, or how attached to them you may be. We often live in the conceptual prison of who other people think we are. We usually told them in the first place, they got used to us, then they hold onto those ideas — and we are trapped. This you would do well to reverse, both in how you perceive others and how others perceive you. Okay, everyone will be a little disoriented at first, but then you will feel a lot better. Those who don’t honor your changes will have an opportunity to slip away and cease to be your friends. We can’t toss our families; siblings may assent only grudgingly;but you may need to put your parents in their place. A firm whack on the ass should suffice, metaphorically speaking, of course.

You are self-sacrificing by nature; nobody had to teach you that other people count. For a Piscean, the practical distinction between “we” and “me” is less than for any other sign, and you have developed all kinds of habits to adopt in a world where few people can see past the mirror. But take a look! You do exist, and existence strongly suggests you’re entering one of the most creative and daring periods of many years. To the average person walking the street, this would be a perfectly meaningless statement. To you, it’s a gift long awaited but barely expected.

You can safely let the tensions of the week go. It seems like people around you were feeling a bit revved up and expressive at the same time, and their reactions may have left you feeling some shade of insecure. Or rather, they may have affirmed certain pre-existing insecurities you’ve been experiencing, which in turn date back to old material. It’s strange when something someone says in the middle of your adult workday relates to some feeling you had when you were five years old, but it happens. There’s a significant relationship between what you have experienced in the past and what you’re experiencing today, though it’s here for a reason — so you can work it out and get yourself free from any snags that have persistently held you back. I will give you one clue from your chart — you don’t need to be popular to be successful. But you don’t need to be unpopular either. It would help immensely if you feel good in your skin.

You are taking the final steps toward completing a long stage of your life: a time of visioning and of manifestation; of widening your horizons and deepening them. This process is not over, if only because you learned it so well that in effect you became it. What is changing in this particular year is the need to connect your new visions with corresponding changes to the fundamental structure of your life, which you’ve no doubt had a taste of in the past two or three seasons. What you have started in this respect will continue — it’s as if the physical rearrangements you’re involved with have taken on a life of their own. Now, one last dimension of your visioning process needs to be refined. Don’t be afraid to change your plans, be they in your mind or on paper. Adjustments you make today will save you enormous work and expense in the future, and work to everyone’s profit.

You can take a vacation this month without taking a day off of work, buying an airplane ticket, or putting more than 25 miles on your car. You’re in one of those cosmic nanophases where you find things; where they find you; where you just bump into what you want and need. None of this is an accident. You are seeing the world through entirely different eyes than you were one year ago, or even three months ago, and this new vision is something you worked for with diligence. Besides work it’s partly the result of acknowledging your actual influence on your environment, and part of it is about not being afraid of yourself.
