You are saucier than you let on. In fact you’re quite good at this, though it tends to get in the way of your fun. Imagine yourself at your wildest and most outrageous. Then see if you can move 10% of the way in that direction. That would be just enough to get you out of your familiar safe zone and into some territory where you feel different and get different responses from people. You won’t be committing to much, or risk losing control, but what you’ll have is the experience of exploring an edge of your personality. That’s where the action is, when you want to feel fresh and alive and like you’re taking a chance on living. You’ll also notice different people than you’re usually aware of, by which I mean that even if you troop around the same neighborhood all week, stepping outside your usual bounds will cue you into the existence of people you’ll be very happy you noticed.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Cancer monthly for January 2007.

There will come a moment when you question everything, and that is the moment when you will find your power. It’s coming sooner than you think, and I suggest you be glad of it. Life is a matter of the circumstances in which you partake participating meaningfully with you. Notice what energy comes back to you, and what does not; who or what pays you, and who or what does not; who or what spontaneously offers what you need, and who or what does not even notice. For you, the question ‘What gives?’ is not a rhetorical one; rather, it is a factual one, in two halves. If we start the process with you, it would be productive to notice where you find yourself giving with no decision or effort, and where you find yourself stressing and straining. Part two is who or what is reaching back to you, specifically with what you want or need? You’re going to find some extraordinary examples of commitment in your life, and some that you will easily be able to do without. In short, you don’t need it all, and it all does not need you. When you find the meeting points, you will know because a sense of ease and flow replaces the tension.

I reckon there is plenty going on in your life right now, and that you’re not sure about some of it. By not sure, I mean that your intuition may be nagging you about something or someone. There may be a situation that seems to be all promise and little payout. Or you may have concerns about where your own emotional desires and needs fit into the scenario. I suggest you honor your doubts and give the situation a little more time. You’re about to enter a whole new emotional landscape when Jupiter, the Sagittarius planet, enters Cancer in a few weeks. You may need to exercise what feels like extreme patience till then, though it will be worth it. You’ll be on more solid emotional ground, and you’ll discover what it is you were concerned about.

You’re now facing a situation in which you’re being summoned to be what used to be called ‘the bigger person’. To get along with people, we must at least seek to understand where they are coming from, and to be flexible with the things they believe about themselves that are not true. You would not want to be judged based on your fears; you must forgive others their misconceptions about themselves and the way they have fallen prey to the lies they were told. You can afford to be generous; your life is a lot better than you think it is right now and you can be a truly positive influence, though you’ll be more likely to believe this with confirmation.

Will there be any rewards for the kinds of tests you’ve just been through? Are there any benefits to all the persistent growth you’ve been pushing yourself through? At this point, it may be difficult to see where this is all leading. You may have felt the effects of prolonged stress as issues that have pushed your emotional and physical health a little too far. But you have persisted, and you’ve reached the end of a meaningful phase of your journey. I suggest you pause for a moment today, and do what you can to ease off on the pressure – a whole new story is about to begin.

Lack of self-esteem is one of the most serious issues of our day. It may be the most damaging problem that humans face, responsible for most of the misery and abuse in the world today. We then take this condition and bring it into our relationships, basically putting our self-worth into the hands of someone else. This is the root of what is commonly called codependency. I don’t think anyone is exempt, but Mercury and Chiron are about to align in a way that can clarify this issue for you. Imagine that there are many ways that two people can align; pretend we have hundreds of ways we can connect with others. Among them, there are just a very few alignments where this issue of how we handle, treat and mirror one another’s self-esteem can be seen for what it is. And what is that ‘what it is’? That’s for you to observe over the next few days. I suggest not looking for specifics, but rather treating everything that happens as an expression of this issue — and seeing where that leads you.

The role of belief is something that we all need to question, and which you seem ready to question. What you might call the problem of belief is that it works on so many levels, and we can’t see most of them, most of the time. On one level, it’s a very good thing that most of what we think is true is wrong. On another level, there exist what you might call metabeliefs that have a cascading effect and shape the process of everything we perceive. Most of these are our concepts of existence itself, and these are the ones to focus on. You will know you’re on the wavelength when you find yourself once again thinking about things that nobody ever considers, only more deeply than usual. You can ride out this month’s astrology as a kind of crisis of faith — or you can explore it as the perfect opportunity to get inside your own process of creating your reality; which is based nearly entirely on what you believe. The most potent metabelief of all is what you think you are. Adjectives like ‘weak’ or ‘strong’ or ‘happy’ won’t do it. What are you, in the cosmos? How did the water, carbon and random minerals your body is made of suddenly spring to life in the form of you and all your ideas? Such will direct the course of your existence.
