I am sure you wish the negotiation process would finally end; it would be easier indeed if more of the people around you were more negotiable, and for that matter more committed to their own cause. This, I think you will discover is true as the next few days unfold. Here is the challenge: seeing things as they are, not as you are. You may struggle to emphasize the positive, or perhaps more accurately, to see what appears to be negative in its true context. Someone close to you is leading you gently toward a place of faith. You have the ability to stay where you’ve felt stuck; or to shift your consciousness to a new kind of awareness. Take note: they are leading you emotionally, toward a feeling-tone where you will be able to stabilize your consciousness on what I can only describe as love: the real thing, connected to something much larger than yourself. This is directly an expression of your potential. As you taste this, you will still be aware of some sharp contrasts within you and around you. But you will have a new basis for judging what is possible.

You may have that feeling of being psychologically on edge, though unsure whether it’s you, or whether it’s everyone and everything. The vibe you’re feeling is in the environment, and it’s a mix of paranoia and uncertainty. Those are understandable responses to life at the moment, though they don’t serve you well. You have plenty of protection around you right now. You’re also at a peak of creativity and sensuality these days, so you have both reasons and opportunities to celebrate life. Yet to have the benefit of any of this, you will need to be open, flexible and willing to explore and experiment. The edgy feeling you’re picking up on is rooted in the rigidity that our environment is pushing on us at nearly every turn. Our devices make us rigid. Our schedules make us rigid. Fear is a stiffening agent, and you can’t take three steps without someone telling you the next thing to be terrified of. To go against this requires courage: to keep your heart open; to engage with what you don’t understand, rather than immediately dissing it; the willingness to have a conversation with someone you don’t agree with; these will all help you feel better, and live better. You want more from life than paying the bills, and to succeed at that requires a sense of adventure, and being open to life.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Aries monthly for December 2003.

When you look back on this year in the context of the next few seasons, you will likely see that it provided the gestation period before the emergence of a much deeper dimension of who you are. We could say you are becoming a deeper person, but it’s more than that. Something you’ve long held inside yourself, a quality of existence free from the tight restrictions of identity and self-concept, has truly been released from you. As you know, you’re not living without a definition of who you are; but you now have a much more flexible definition, and an entirely different way of exchanging information with the world. In sum, you have learned how to receive, and how to give, even if you don’t yet know the name of what you are giving.

The next six or eight weeks arrive with a series of turning points and moments of truth regarding where you are and how this relates to who you are. As usual the crux of the issue of where you call home has something vital to do with your relationships and maintaining a sense of balance within them. The truly surprising discovery may be that you don’t have to do anything or go anywhere for certain long-overdue changes to occur. But then Uranus in Pisces does offer a kind of worldwide lure to adventure which you would be wise to allow a voice and take for a long run in a big field. At its essence the astrology of early autumn is a reminder to keep your ideas about life loose not take the opinions of others too seriously and to make your mark on the world where it matters most — in your own heart and soul.

If there seems to be an imbalance in how much you’re willing to give versus how much you’re willing to take, I wonder if the issue is not simply fear. I suggest you start there, because fear is the one thing that stands between you and a truly abundant life, where your needs are met and your gifts are appreciated. You may notice that others are ready to open up before you are; that they seem to be one or two steps ahead of your growth, and seem to have something you don’t have to offer them. But give your fear a voice, and you’ll finally discover it’s easier to feel alive than it is to struggle.
