New ideas about yourself need expression in dwelling places, and are also a good way to emphasize the point that change has, in actual fact, taken place. Four Days in Occupied Western Sahara—A Rare Look Inside Africa’s Last Colony
In this special rebroadcast of an exclusive documentary, Democracy Now! breaks the media blockade and goes to occupied Western Sahara in the northwest of Africa to document the decades-long Sahrawi struggle for freedom and Morocco’s violent crackdown. Morocco has occupied the territory since 1975 in defiance of the United Nations and the international community. Thousands have been tortured, imprisoned, killed and disappeared while resisting the Moroccan occupation. A 1,700-mile wall divides Sahrawis who remain under occupation from those who fled into exile. The international media has largely ignored the occupation—in part because Morocco has routinely blocked journalists from entering Western Sahara. But in late 2016 Democracy Now! managed to get into the Western Saharan city of Laayoune, becoming the first international news team to report from the occupied territory in years.

Unlike some “12-step programs,” these steps1 have no particular order. Rather, they work in tandem and harmony. Often the opportunity to demonstrate or experience these proven ways for a more magical life simply comes along. All we have to do is recognize it.

Over time, though, through reflection, intent and practice, these ways become part of our modus operandi, our preferred way to be, and can lead to a more refined and intuitive life, replacing a reactive, or insensitive, style that undermines personal evolution and right relationship.
None of these steps is likely to surprise you, but putting them together may conveniently help you put them together in life. Although more can be said about each step, specific “sub-steps” are woven within most major ones. The article is not meant to be all-inclusive, but simply a contemplative primer for self-discovery and adaptation.
With that said, I’d like to offer this caveat. I mention “allies,” forces and beneficent energies a few times. This implies we live in an animated Universe with seen and unseen beings we can attract for mutually beneficial relationships. My experiences tell me these are present and nothing to fear or avoid. Your experiences may tell you something else.
You know that love has no bounds. Yet in this world we have to live with all kinds of containers limits definitions and rules. Often those rules make us hold back. I suggest you let those go for a while and express how you feel to anyone to whom you have something to say. Don’t worry whose husband or wife is standing there or what your relationship is: your feelings are pure and your heart is right. No you’ve never been one who is afraid to express yourself but I suggest you take it to a new depth. The truth of the matter is that if we’re not free to love we’re not free to do anything.

A Disaster for Brazil: Noam Chomsky on Brazil’s New Far-Right President Jair Bolsonaro
As Brazil’s President-elect Jair Bolsonaro prepares to take office on Tuesday, Democracy Now! returns to their conversation with world-renowned political dissident, linguist and author Noam Chomsky shortly after the election. Bolsonaro’s impending presidency marks the most radical political shift Brazil since military rule ended more than 30 years ago. Bolsonaro is a former Army officer who has praised Brazil’s former military dictatorship, spoken in favor of torture and threatened to destroy, imprison or banish his political opponents. Bolsonaro has also encouraged the police to kill suspected drug dealers, and once told a female lawmaker she was too ugly to rape. Noam Chomsky calls Bolsonaro a “disaster for Brazil.”

Days after a federal judge in California temporarily halted Trump’s asylum ban, Democracy Now! revisits their conversation with world-renowned professor, linguist and dissident Noam Chomsky about U.S. foreign policy in Central America. He joins the discussion from Tucson, Arizona, where he teaches at the University of Arizona. Chomsky is also institute professor emeritus at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he has taught for 50 years. Democracy Now! asks him about the Central American caravan and national security adviser John Bolton declaring Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua to be part of a “troika of tyranny” and a “triangle of terror” earlier this month.

President Donald Trump recently announced plans to pull the United States out of a landmark nuclear arms pact with Russia, in a move that could spark a new arms race. President Ronald Reagan and former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev signed the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, or INF, in 1987. The INF banned all nuclear and non-nuclear missiles with short and medium ranges. The treaty helped to eliminate thousands of land-based missiles. Democracy Now! spoke with world-renowned political dissident, linguist and author Noam Chomsky in October about the significance of the INF treaty and the impact of Trump’s plan to pull out.

You know that you cannot be content with anything superficial or make believe, so you may as well not lose any more sleep over that. You’re discovering that you have something to say, and you may be wondering if anyone wants to listen. You can set that one aside too; your charts say that it’s time to get the word in before you get the word out. As you invest your energy in self-knowledge, and making the changes you have wanted to make for so long, you will become your message. Part of what you’re seeking in this process is an understanding of how things got to be the way they are. This applies to your life, and to any aspect of the world that you are seeking to influence, change, develop or in some way correct. The story of the world the way you perceive it corresponds directly to the story of your life. The changes you are going through connect to the urgent need for progress in the world. You are a kind of personal intersection between the two, but in order not to have that become a burden, I suggest you focus on your life and your learning process, and take action only when you feel profoundly moved to do so. Less is more — and when the time comes, that will be plenty.

You must trust your own leadership. It’s true that when you have to take over and get the job done, not everyone is happy. But more people will be. It’s essential to recognize how much humans need and depend on leadership. Crooks and tyrants know this; it’s time for wholesome people such as yourself to figure it out. It’s time to assert a few significant goals, and rally the jamboree. Do this in a spirit of service, in the spirit of what is right and true. Offer people the good feeling of cooperation and of assisting one another, and of working for a larger purpose. Say that over and over again until everyone around you is humming it like a catchy tune. There is one thing I suggest you remember, though: a key to your success is exercising your flexibility. As one born under a fixed sign, you have to work at this regularly, and I suggest you do that at every opportunity. Every discussion is an opportunity to compromise and be accommodating. Do this in conscious, measured ways; open up the give-and-take aspect of every situation, and make sure you establish an environment where ‘negotiable’ is a working theme. If you notice someone taking advantage of you, say something sooner rather than later. Keep everything above the boards and state your goals openly.
