Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus weekly for Dec. 7, 2007

You can feel the circumstances and needs from the opposite viewpoint, and you may be discovering that it’s not so opposite after all. That is the interesting thing about role-reversals — they reveal what we have in common more than they reveal what is different. The floor remains open for further discussion of the possibilities, and you may be piecing together the fact that your gain benefits everyone; another person’s gain benefits everyone; your mutual gains are good for all. You can at this juncture afford to set aside some of your conservative tendencies and explore possibilities that would have made you nervous to even think about not so long ago. That is the benefit of authentic confidence rather than its facade or image.

The Daily Oracle offers a horoscope selected randomly by our Intelligent Archive Oracle program, unique to Planet Waves. It’s also a database of my horoscopes going back to the late 1990s. The Capricorn New Moon and Solstice

This Sunday is the Capricorn solstice, marked this year by the Capricorn New Moon. It’s an energetic chart — though not so much in the vein of the cultural excess (and the reminder of lack it creates for some people) that marks this time of year.

The Sun leaves Sagittarius for Capricorn at 6:03 pm EST Dec. 21: the day of the solstice, which in the Northern hemisphere is the shortest day of the year. Winter begins here in the Northern Hemisphere, along with the days (gradually) getting longer (with the opposite true Down Under.

The Moon enters Capricorn shortly thereafter at 8:25 pm EST. Just eleven minutes later, at 8:36 pm EST, the Sun and Moon conjoin for the Capricorn New Moon.

Capricorn is a cardinal sign, associated with taking initiative in your own life, just like cardinal signs begin seasons. The Capricorn New Moon and solstice chart has some incredible energy for beginnings. Partly that’s due to fully half the sign-ruling planets being in Capricorn Sunday: Sun, Moon, Mercury, Pluto and Venus (plus asteroid Vesta, which does not rule a sign).

Having all those planets there emphasizes the past (a Capricorn theme) — specifically, tearing it down (thanks to Pluto) and initiating new structures (thanks to everything else in the sign).

Or to put it more gently, since I know many people are in a lot of pain and truly struggling with Pluto’s effects, this chart is about re-framing your narratives about the past and how much you let your past define you. Mercury right near the New Moon looks like some solid intention setting around that theme, and solstices are a natural time to set intentions for the season.

If you don’t act too soon, you have a chance to recover financial losses that have set you back over the past few weeks. You’re still missing information, or rather, there’s something you’re not telling yourself, and you really need to figure out just what that is. I have this image of you looking through last year’s financial files for a clue. It doesn’t really matter where you begin; just take a peek and you’ll pick up on the trail.

Winter Solstice & an All-Community Meeting Sunday 12/21

Dear Friend and Reader:

In local news, the winter solstice is approaching, and tonight on Planet Waves FM I will describe that chart, which is another of the great works of astrology. I’ll also include the part about how people down in Oz and New Zealand are watering their gardens daily because it’s the height of summer down by you.

Scene Monday morning in my portable office at Outdated Cafe in Kingston. This is my research into Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius, my current focus among the many projects coming together for Cosmophilia: You Belong Here, your 2015 annual readings.

In tonight’s edition I’ll be continuing to explore the events of 2015 — not just the big points but the subtle ones as well, the sign changes of centaur planets and what new activity is gathering around the Galactic Core.

On Sunday evening at 6 pm EST / 3 pm PST / 23:00 UTC, I’ll be hosting an All-Community Meeting — everyone is invited, and invited to participate (at no cost). This is a live conference call, in the approximate format of call-in radio.

The topic will be belonging, not belonging, acceptance and alienation — in a word, the individual aspects of community. This is your chance to share your feelings, to listen to the experiences of others and to get my direct feedback on what you share. Mark your calendar! This meeting is open to everyone, though community meetings are officially part of our new Core Community service and will be offered six times a year beginning in February.

Note, Dec. 21 is also the 16th birthday of the Planet Waves website. We first went online the evening of Dec. 21, 1998.

Check your inbox later today for details about how to attend that meeting, which you can participate in by phone or as a listener via streaming Web connection. We will send out the notice with call-in details three times — twice this week and once a few hours before the program.

This live conference is part of my work, and our collective work, on Cosmophilia: You Belong Here, the 2015 annual edition of Planet Waves. I am, as you may know, currently running my annual astrology marathon, doing detailed readings on all 12 signs in written and audio format. What you say during this call will influence my readings, so definitely chime in.

Work in Progress — this is the developing Libra sketch for Cosmophilia: You Belong Here. Each research file is about 10 pages of pure data, which I distill down to a hand-drawn sketch from which I do the actual reading. The process of developing these readings takes six months.

This is the last week to get our lowest pre-order discount of $77 for all 12 signs. On Saturday the price goes up to $97 for all 12.

Yes, we will be offering individual signs starting next week, for $24.95 each. However, at $6.42 per sign now, you cannot go wrong by getting all 12. Most people who read and listen to one want to read and listen to more.

A few other bits before I move on. Monday I published an analysis of the sixth of seven Uranus-Pluto squares.

How you respond to this aspect “depends on whether and how you want to participate in the rapid changes. Yes, it’s possible to wait out the storm, though that is a missed opportunity, on a multiple lifetime scale. Yes, you may be in some shock from the rapid changes that have come into your life. You may be wondering which way is up, or what to hold onto.”

As usual, I don’t recommend sitting around and passively waiting.

“Don’t knock yourself out wondering. Open your eyes, listen, and smell the air. Look for people with whom you have some rapport — some sense of recognition. Pick an adventure, no matter how subtle, and set off for the unknown.”

I’ll catch you tonight on Planet Waves FM, and Sunday at the All-Community Meeting.

w/love,

Intent — Mercury Ingress Capricorn

It’s been a long, a long time coming, but I know a change gonna come.
— Sam Cooke

Intent is a powerful thing. Mercury enters Capricorn at 10:53 pm EST tonight (3:53 UT tomorrow), symbolically inviting you to prove just how powerful your intent can be. Intent originates with the mind, which (among other things) versatile Mercury represents. Intent is part of the ‘conceive’ that must precede the ‘achieve’.

Mercury will join Pluto and Venus in Capricorn, and will precede the grand entrance of the Sun and Moon on Dec. 21 for the astounding and unlikely simultaneity of a New Moon and solstice — which appears for all the world to be the initiation of a manifestation.

That’s because Capricorn is a cardinal sign (along with Aries, Cancer and Libra). Cardinal signs are where seasons initiate upon ingress of the Sun, setting a template for other ingresses.

Capricorn is also an earth sign (along with Taurus and Virgo), where the nature of things are made tangible. What is made real in Capricorn is also likely to endure because of how Capricorn is ruled by Saturn’s proficiency for leaving form, order and structure in its wake.

When Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, the indications were clear. Implied at the beginning of a decade and a half of Pluto’s tour of Capricorn is that form, order and structures in place for more than two centuries were up for transformation. The only question was what the nature of the transformation would be.

Then, for nearly two seasons from late last year to early this year, Venus spent more time in Capricorn (due to retrograde) than it had for more than two centuries, to implicitly make us receptive to the change that has to come.

Now Venus is back in Capricorn (since Dec. 10) reminding us to be receptive, and Mercury is about to follow. That’s how Mercury entering Capricorn this year is your cue to participate (or not) in answering the question of just what the form, order and structure of an inevitable and lasting change will be.

Your participation begins with setting an intent for what you want the rest of your life to be like. After that, what you want the lives of today’s children to be like. After that, the children and grandchildren of today’s children.

Because Mercury is and will be in swift and direct motion for all the time it will be in Capricorn (it leaves Capricorn Jan. 5 or Jan. 6, depending on your time zone), it is emblematically powerful. Hence your intent is implied to be powerful at this time.

So step up and stand in your power. Set a clear intent for the initiation of a new season in your life, and the life of the world. It will make a difference. Especially when the Sun and Moon conjoin for a New Moon solstice, and do so as the rulers (or co-rulers) of fully half the signs of the zodiac gather in Capricorn. The planets are inviting you to participate in determining the nature of the change that’s gonna come.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Scorpio weekly for Oct. 31, 2003

Commitments to siblings need to be given top priority right now, and your attention is required at home and not off in the distance. The whole idea of movement has nothing to do with physical motion; you are standing in a gateway and you need do little other than look around at your immediate surroundings, eyes open, filters off, and ask yourself where you are and what you’re doing here. Then wait for the answer. Meantime, pick up the phone and call brothers, sisters and cousins in your life and see where the discussion goes. Keep a pad and pen handy, and listen to exactly what they say.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Cancer weekly for Jan. 15, 2010

Friday’s solar eclipse in your opposite sign definitely represents a shift in a relationship, and I hope you’re clearly perceiving the potential. It’s possible that some change in the structure of things means that it’s time to move on, but it’s more likely that those involved will move onto a new level of awareness and a new kind of involvement. There seems to be some kind of incentive involved here; I suggest you figure out what it is, and keep it at the front of your mind when you’re making decisions. There are no more throwaway relationships in your life. I’m not saying there ever were, but now each person you become involved with needs to have a space that is their own, and be considered a lifetime endeavor.
