How much do you think about social responsibility? That is, if you are in any position of power and share that power with others, are you aware of your responsibility to discuss maturely the options before making crucial decisions? Just in case you’re convinced you’re powerless, you could start by extending this thought exercise to something like figuring out where to go for lunch as a group, then see if a higher-stakes situation comes to mind. However you apply it, remember this: taking responsibility for your choices means understanding the potential outcomes, acting on that awareness in good faith, and then standing with or working to rectify what ensues, as needed.

The centaur planet Pholus is usually regarded as a caution against things spiraling out of control in a negative way. Yet its main key phrase, ‘small cause, big effect’, can have positive applications, too. For example, when you take even modest action in alignment with your values, it can have a positive ripple effect: on your self-esteem, in your community, and beyond. Seemingly minor gestures of love toward another person (or receiving such) — sharing a smile or a kind word, lending a helping hand, listening attentively and compassionately — have the power to make their day. Such things have even been known save a life.
