“We must recognize the full human equality of all of our people before God, before the law, and in the councils of government. We must do this, not because it is economically advantageous, although it is; not because the laws of God command it, although they do; not because people in other lands wish it so. We must do it for the single and fundamental reason that it is the right thing to do.”
— Robert F. Kennedy

Archive: Scorpio Horoscope — This Week in 2011
As the Sun moves through the final degrees of your sign, it’s making an aspect which implies tension, emotional conflict and the sensation of not knowing what’s true. This looks like a playback of confusion you’ve experienced many times before, particularly around your birthday. If you’ve never quite arrived at the point where the confusion became your teacher, now is a great moment to let it be just that. The space of not knowing is a vital one to enter fully. Usually we react with denial, which often comes in the form of false certainty. The thing you want to watch out for these days is false uncertainty. You know you’re pushing certain issues a little more than some people who say they like you would prefer. Don’t worry about being popular. Don’t argue for your cause. Pause and walk away before you respond or react in an emphatic way. You may think that others challenge you at their own risk, but if you overreact, the peril is yours and yours alone.

You seem to be experiencing profound changes in your identity and the way you see your place in the world. This may be due to knowing yourself, and your needs and desires, more truly than you have before. If you’re feeling good about who you are, you know you’re on the right track. Don’t hesitate to embrace your potential.

Written in the Planets
The conversation between Psyche and Asbolus is one that speaks to the progress of the human soul. One by-product of not being an omniscient species is that, occasionally, our ambitions clash with our circumstances. It is tempting to engage in flights of fancy and ignore the challenges with which we all too often must deal. There is nothing wrong at all in exercising the imagination: it can give rise to breakthroughs of importance and substance. There is just enough magic and mystery in human life to make it enchanting. Yet remember that going the scenic route strengthens the character and sharpens the mind. Challenge is really another word for gift.

I had the privilege of meeting RFK when I was a young girl. No lie, as I sat on a plane from D.C. to Syracuse, looking at a LIFE magazine article about the Kennedy’s, I looked across the aisle and there he was. The poor man was trying to stretch out across three seats and get some sleep! At the end of the flight my mother and I met him, she was gaga. I still have my plane ticket, autographed by him, framed and hanging in my office.

The Kennedy’s weren’t perfect people, not by a long shot. If you read any authoritative books about them, and get a glimpse at how Joe and Rose parented, you’ll be clear about how things were for them, and how they came to adulthood.

My point is, like all of us, they weren’t perfect. However, they also enjoyed great privilege. And, they took their responsibility to serve their fellow human beings pretty damn seriously. Courage, respect, acceptance, integrity, wisdom, service, humility…they weren’t perfect examples of this and yet, they espoused these principles and imbued their actions with them. They never gave up on trying to “do the right thing,” for God, for country, for humanity.

At the moment, we live in a society in which so-called “leaders” espouse the opposite. Sexism, racism, misogyny, ant-Semitism, bullying have all become acceptable. How did this happen? More important, how did we allow it to happen?

Like the Kennedy’s, we’re far from perfect. But also like the Kennedy’s, we can nonetheless step in and take responsibility for where our society is, espouse worthy values, and keep seeking to serve and make change…until it happens.

I remember RFK (when I was a young boy), standing atop a black hardtop sedan on Old Broadway, and 125th St, giving a speech, This was in the late sixties. I caught a glimpse of his older brother JFK,, who had rode down Broadway (no doubt turning on125th St, and old Broadway is the next left), in his convertible, sitting in the back seat; the early sixties. Memory of the timeline of these events seems to run into one another. But, as you said Ms Kelly Grace Smith, they imbued their action with the principles you mention. This Light, which shown through the cracks of their personality was still too bright for those in power. What a coup d’etat, to which I have no proof.
But, Rudy Giuliani on Chris Matthew, before the election seems to know about President Johnson dark side, when they talked about young people emulating those in power. President Johnson is not a good choice, to paraphrase Mr. Giuliani, then he said; “you know what I mean.”
