Certain elements of your past are so vital now, and the teachings you’ve gathered there are so necessary to your current process, I suggest you invest some effort into examining the historical record. Current aspects are rich with creative life, and with your energy so geared toward success, it would really make no sense at all to lose one drop of potential by repeating any mistake you have made in the past. Pay attention and the clues will be obvious.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly for Sept.1, 2001

Taurus is the sign of wealth; its symbol, the bull, is an ancient sigil of prosperity, of the ability to farm and eat, of harmony with nature and mostly with strength. Yet the horns of the bull take the shape of the moon, which points us to the inner world. Any enlightened master you meet on the street will tell you that your wealth is an inner phenomenon, having nothing to do with money or things. But so too is your strange ability to discount your value once you have finally figured out what it is. You can avoid this; you don’t need to be trapped in the same game that seems to do in so many people. Just beware of the idea of sacrifice, which is the actual core belief operating within our culture of gluttony. Beware of thinking that your value to others is on an exchange basis: that you can trade or pay people with certain personal qualities and thus have worth to them. Maybe that’s true, but there’s something even more true.

So, without that thing you kept banging your head on, you may be feeling a little more exposed to the elements. It’s a small price to pay, and the wind, rain and weather are here to remind you that there’s a wider and wilder world outside than the one you had grown accustomed to for so long. Let the changes that have come into your life stand as testimony that you do have the power to change your life, and that fortunately, this is an ongoing process that responds well to experience. I just suggest you do something that has not been on the agenda for a while — take a long-range view. Excuse yourself from the limits that were so real just weeks ago. Try going only new places for a while.

I suggest you make a list of all your unfinished business with everyone in your life who truly matters to you. You’re drawing to the close of a major phase of your life, as Saturn gets ready to leave your sign and enter Scorpio. This phase dates back to 2009, when Saturn first entered your sign. I’ve described it in the past as a time of coming to terms with yourself. If you were born in the early 1980s or the mid-1950s, it also coincides with a life passage called your Saturn return (no matter what Sun sign you were born under). The themes of these Saturn events include embracing maturity, grounding your life in a purpose, setting boundaries and dealing with what are sometimes called ‘authority issues’. You may finally be starting to feel the pressure, but I don’t suggest you let it get to you. The truth is, you’ve been under this influence for a while, and you’ve been handling yourself pretty well — with your patented blend of innovation and stability. You now seem to be at an impasse, however. The alternatives, options or possibilities you’re faced with seem to contradict or mutually exclude one another. This is, however, merely a matter of perspective. In other words, it’s all in the way you look at things. See them differently and that whole paradox will resolve itself like it was never there. How to do that? Clearly state your intention to see the situation differently, preferably out loud.

A theme that developed last month persists: take care of the details. You also need to know which details matter and which do not. So the other bit of stardust advice is don’t get too carried away. You need to do what you must to keep the kind of control that can only come with awareness; and you would be wise to recognize just how much awareness you already possess. I don’t mean to talk circles here. The short way around the tree is to say, pay attention to the extent that you can be mindful of what matters, and let go of the rest. You are in a building phase right now, where all you touch can turn to gold. Touch gently, but make actual contact; make sure your handprints are where they belong. The point is, by the time the astrology of 2007 peaks in your birth sign later in the autumn, your mind will once again be on the very large picture and you will not have time to handle the small stuff. You have time now; time to use efficiently, and that efficiency is an investment that will pay you back handsomely.

What you learn about a particular relationship — or all your relationships — will fill in the missing pieces on many mysteries of recent years. The issue had nothing to do with others and it had everything to do with you. This should stand as proof of the extent to which people will cooperate with what you want if only you will be clear about it yourself. The more clearly you can articulate your secret desires to yourself the more this will work. Be mindful of when you’re thinking about ‘what other people said is not possible’. Acknowledge it and set it aside — it is not true.
