Mercury is about to enter new territory. Before this development takes place, you may want to clear up any lingering misunderstandings or pending business that stand between you and your future. There are likely to be a few small matters that would benefit immensely from several days of intense reflection and clarification. You have by now figured out that bigger and better things are calling you. You have noticed that you seem to be getting a lot more attention than you have in recent months or seasons. Now, all you need to have is some certainty about what direction you want to go in. As tempting as it is to seek that certainty from outside yourself, I suggest you not yield to that temptation. And if you spend time figuring out what is not true and dismissing that, what is true will become extremely obvious.

Where are you getting your energy? In a word, Mars. But I’m always reluctant to attribute to astrology what are really qualities of human character that each of us has struggled so long to develop. You deserve the respect you are getting; and though it may surprise you to know, if you persist at expressing yourself sincerely, you’ll get what you’re looking for. At this point today, it probably seems like it would be nice if things would go right. I suggest, however, that you rest in the calm assurance that your effort, dedication and most of all your love will have an effect on the world.

I greatly admire the guts and innovation of the current generation of fishtailed goats who are able to live so gracefully in the relentless onslaught of the modern world despite the obvious difficulty and the struggle around knowing that for everything we gain, we must give up something else, and knowing that so much of what we give up is of such real value while what we gain is barely a trinket, but I would know that through careful evaluation I would be able to find the truly meaningful when I needed it even though it is so elusive. 1999 will be the year of compulsory fun, and facing my fear of creation of something better than me.

Gestation is a sensitive process, as anyone who has gone through pregnancy has learned. It’s delicate for the fetus, and equally so for the host. The relationship compels us to explore the boundary between the two, recognizing the ways that we are one with what we create, and the ways we must distinguish ourselves from it. And more than anything, on some level we come to terms with the creative process being something that works through us and with us, but which is not entirely under our control. What exactly are you creating, and how? Whatever it may be, it’s leading you on a deep journey into yourself, and very likely deep into your past. The image that comes across in the astrology is something akin to diving into a deep, watery inner world, swimming down to the bottom of the ocean, and retrieving yourself down there. If you feel limited by any factors in the outer or waking world, remember that a large part of your consciousness is preoccupied. Shape your life with that awareness and you’ll have enough energy for everything.

You’re supposed to be someone whose main activity in life is feathering your nest. But for the longest time, your goal in life seems to have involved clearing your mind. This is a more ambitious task than creating any form of worldly security or comfort, and a more valuable one. Everything we experience in this world follows from our thought patterns, whether it’s because those patterns create the world, or because they inform us about how to respond to it. You may be anticipating some kind of threat to your security base, but that is a thought. It is true that your security base will, in fact, be changing, but how it changes is a matter of the thoughts in your mind. Are you in the active role in these processes, or the passive one? As a Libran, you would naturally be a leader. As a human, you would more likely be in the role of follower. Which is it going to be? Once you recognize how deep is your need to free your mind and nourish your soul, I trust you will decide that you simply must be a leader.
