Today’s Oracle takes us to the Capricorn weekly for Aug. 22, 2014.

You may find yourself in a position where you need to take an unpopular position. That may be the right thing to do. I suggest however that you consider what, exactly, you’re pushing back against. Do you really need to assert yourself against anyone or anything outside yourself, or do you just need to do your thing? It depends on what your goal is, which is partly about your circumstances. For example, in order to make a statement, you don’t need to defend your right to free speech; you just need to say what’s on your mind. That strongly implies that you have a right to do so, and you don’t need to make that extra point. It seems that you want to find your distinct place in society. Therefore, do what you must, do what you want, and don’t explain yourself until someone tries to stop you.

Apply the attention of your mind to all situations involving other people. You are accustomed to thinking with your feelings; think with your thoughts and apply the skills of reason, logic and investigation. These things are your basic protection in life right now, and you are in a phase where your files are being updated on this particular set of skills. It is true that the finer qualities of life are often intangible, soft and very much alive and as such, don’t respond to ideas. But we must be able to get from one place to another; getting one’s needs met often requires strategy.

Stand clear of any tendency to establish a pattern out of making sacrifices. You may need to compromise on one or two things, but the clue that they’re the right compromises is that they will feel good. Once you go past the point where what you give rewards you with pleasure, that is the time to stop. You are in leadership mode at the moment, and for you leadership means taking full responsibility for yourself, for others and for what must be done. I assure you that you don’t need to go so far to get results. You merely need to set a solid example, and that does include knowing when to say yes and when to say no. Let your example do most of the work you would normally delegate to labor and toil.

It would help enormously if you had someone with whom you could get right to the point, The deeper, darker aspects of your nature or your current psychological process are at the top of your mind. Unusual material may be surfacing, and if so, that’s a healthy sign. I’m not sure that a spouse or partner is the right person to confide in — they may be too involved in your fears or concerns, perhaps even the direct subject. You’re under considerable pressure right now and it would be best to delay major decisions until after the total solar eclipse in your sign on December 4. This particular moment, however, is rich in what it offers you in awareness and certain key information that will prove to be undeniable.

Remember this if you encounter any obstacles that seem to get in your way. You’ve already overcome so much that was far more challenging than anything you may be worried about.

You may be afraid that you’re going to lose your focus, so recently discovered after so much effort. But what good is focus if you can’t keep it? It’s a little like being fully committed part of the time. What would happen if you were fully committed all of the time? I know the C word has implications as something you cannot get out of. Yet if you’re unable to do what’s important to you, that also has a feeling of something you cannot get out of. Here’s my theory: you usually don’t know what you want, or you don’t let yourself admit it. When you do know, or when you do admit it, you’re perfectly capable of sticking to a goal. When your awareness slips, so too does your power to achieve. The only thing that’s really changed during the past couple of months is that you’ve been aware of what you want, in specific terms. Perhaps you’ve refined ‘wanting to be a writer’ to ‘wanting to write screenplays’. Somehow you forgot the part about how doing the thing you want allegedly prevents you from doing everything else. Now, all you need is to remember that one thing, without the reminders or accidental opportunities you’ve been lucky enough to have. You really can do this on your own. You have the strength to focus, and you’re finally a good enough sailor to move with the tides of your emotions without drowning.

You have no doubt grown in the eyes of at least some others this year. Your sphere of influence has almost certainly expanded in proportion to how you have manifested yourself. To continue on what appears to be a fast track toward evolutionary leaps and bounds, you must first eschew any practice that would subtly sabotage the solid steps you have made not to be taken for granted any longer.
