Pull in the reins on your spending. I know it’s the holiday season and you may be feeling generous, and like you want to make an impression on people. I would count that as sincere. With gifts, it really is the thought that counts — not the thought that you did anything, but rather that you actually considered who a person is and therefore what would have real meaning. Gifts really matter, and when they are conscious, they can convey a message of acknowledgement and affirmation. And they don’t need to be expensive to do that. The most ordinary matters are the most meaningful right now. You don’t need to worry about big goals, grand destinations or even your personal destiny. Stay focused in what you’re doing, and in particular, take care of the material aspects: focus on keeping things running more or less on time; keep your sink empty and your sheets fresh and live the life you’re living. This is a moment when the very larger and seemingly more significant things are incorporated into the seemingly most mundane. Here’s the thing, though — they always are. When you’re working at your very highest potential, what you’re doing is part of life. And as part of that, you always have a basic need to maintain yourself, take care of basic creature comforts, and be present in the moment. What you have now is a setup where focusing on your immediate environment leads you to a sense of a much larger world. This could come from, for example, being more attentive to your phone messages or email, which directly leads to an opportunity. Or the effect may be indirect: you’re feeling rested and like you’ve got a handle on your life, and this gives you a little more space to have ideas, and engage people in conversations. One over-arching message of your solar chart is enjoy what you have. Enjoy the health, the wellbeing, the opportunity to serve and create, that you have at this moment. Relax into this space and you will find it offers you lots of unexpected potential.

Nothing is really normal right now, but somehow everything is normal. In the hydrodynamics of your soul, there is a rush of energy flow being created by Mars retrograde, which is likely to be revealing how complex and contradictory you are. At least there’s nothing subtle about the observations you’re making — in other words, unlike usual, you can actually see and feel contrasts that normally just disappear into the mists. If one of the highest forms of living is to actually express the core of one’s being, there must be something sacred about including your contradictions and twists of consciousness and in any sane definition of love.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus weekly for Oct. 31, 2008.

There are plenty of moments in each day when you seem to be at the mercy of forces beyond your control. Looking at yourself through one eye, you have an image as free both in terms of what you believe and what you can do. Looking with the other eye, you seem to be so deeply invested in someone or something (including an idea about your own life) that freedom equates to little more than choosing what hymn you will sing at Sunday services. It would be too easy to look out at the world and see how hurt or stuck everyone else is. True, on this planet, it’s not so difficult to find scared, injured and struggling people. It would make more sense to reckon your concept of independence with its corresponding reality or lack thereof.

Two questions for you this month: what would you do if you were really free, and what would you do if you could focus on what matters the most? There seems to be an intersection approaching where the two probability fields meet. Looked at one way, it’s a narrowing of the path of your life; looked at another way, you have an opportunity to arrange your priorities, particularly where key relationships are concerned. For way too long, many things that don’t really matter to you have taken exceptional amounts of your emotional energy and material resources. It has been a long time since you went into command mode on your most important life situations, physical circumstances and professional commitments, and such a moment is arriving fast. You can go a long way toward preparing yourself by knowing what matters long before anyone asks you or expects you to put your feelings, credibility or cash on the line. Make sure the people you care about know you care about them, and make sure you put the question to anyone with whom you are experiencing doubt.

Refine your ideas now; mix the 24-track recording down to 8 tracks. Find practical application for your highest visions; start by applying a “for instance” to as many concepts as you can. While you’re at it, test your theories, whether in a simulator or in some form of reality. This is the time to begin the vital process of grounding your ideas about life into reality. Take tangible steps, even if they are small. Tangible means you can document your progress; you can make and receive commitments; there is a sense of exchange and development, no matter how small it may seem. You need to create a working model of the world you want, rather than having the whole thing be in your head. It is true that in recent years you have come up against many limitations that have caused you to question whether the world, or anyone for that matter, is ready for you. It’s time to resolve that issue.

If you want to teach yourself how to think bigger, now is a fine time. By bigger, I mean conceiving of reality in ways that serve the whole with greater dependability, as well as reach further afield. But by bigger, I also mean self-serving. This is such an alien concept to so many fish people since you tend to consider the whole notion of a “self” as unimportant, imaginary and even false, because you know we’re all in the same boat. Yet whatever you’re doing, no matter how much power, money, influence, and, yes, fun you have, you will quite dependably do good and useful things. So keep your private agenda in mind. A rare wind is blowing. Ride it where you will.
