You seem to be seeking a compromise on a matter involving shared finances, or perhaps more accurately, a question about sexual values in an intimate relationship. The scenario seems to be going in the direction of someone’s fantasy of how things can be, though leaving out some of the more obvious practicalities. This is definitely a scenario that deserves to have logic, data or some form of science prevail, rather than any form of make-believe or let’s see what happens. And logic will indeed prevail, so I suggest you hold the line and be patient while the planets shuffle around in a pattern that describes the renegotiation of the relationship in a more holistic way. In other words, the discussion is likely to start on one topic, and then expand into other topics that are related on the level of shared values. This comes down to understanding the values you have in common, and those that you do not. I would remind you here that you’re in a somewhat vulnerable position when it comes to others overpowering you. It will not work so well to resist forcefully, so instead, I suggest you use persistence. Time is on your side. What is obvious to you will become obvious to others as the discussion moves along, and the result will be a new understanding of your relationship, built on level ground.

If you are making a professional move of any kind, the thing to choose among your many options is the one that you both want the most, and where you feel you may not be ready, qualified or willing to be noticed. Often, the thing people would succeed brilliantly at works out to be the very thing they avoid. On this theme, you are in one of the great moments of your life. It’s not going to go away any time soon, but neither will it last forever. You are at a beginning, which is the time to make sure that you set your priorities and your goals in a meaningful way. Those goals can and probably will change, but they provide a point of focus. Consciously working toward something is a way to concentrate your energy. You can unravel a longtime question here by directing your energy in a way that creates something positive and helpful — to you. Creative energy is potential; it has to be activated through awareness and conscious action. Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly for April 2010.

The answer is not control; it may seem like control, but I propose that the answer — if there is one answer — is to observe. Mainly observe yourself. Your fantasy life is taking you some interesting places lately, and far from being content with imagination, you want experience. But this is pushing some of your buttons. These buttons include issues about supposed right and wrong, what’s too intense for you to handle and whether you have sufficient ground beneath your feet to handle the swirl of your own desires. The important thing to do is not revert to your mother, or her image of what you’re supposed to be: particularly, what kind of partner you’re supposed to be. Mixed in may be a number of false notions about the kind of partner you’re supposed to want. To be clear, what you seem to be working through is tension between various images of the ‘right’ husband and wife (on the one side of the psychic membrane) and a whole kaleidoscope of possibilities for who you are (on the other side). Consider how much image is bound up in our notions of relationship: in being acceptable to potential partners, in the image of a good relationship, in being seen with the right person. What if all of that was completely, totally and utterly meaningless? Not only meaningless, but a way of perpetuating everything about your childhood that you no longer want?

If you can’t decide whether these are the best times or the worst, decide they’re the best. Do what you can to make yourself feel at home on the planet and in your current environment; you can do quite a bit. Yes, there are sources of irritation, and surely, you’re feeling like the pressure to change is upon you, and it is. But change implies a new relationship to the past. The whole issue of the past is a serious problem because its reality is so convincing, and we seem to have given up so much; but this attachment is only in our emotions. Making yourself at home means, more than anything, doing what you can to catch up with the moment in which you are alive. This is extremely challenging and few people ever do it. Yet you simply don’t need what was, and it wasn’t so great anyway. You do indeed have much to love about what is, which will open your heart to who and what is to come.

You have yet to really sort out the difference between feelings and obsessions, and you now have an excellent opportunity to do so. The whole problem with feelings is that they defy control. Obsessions are all about control, whether you attempt to control something or it seems to control you. It amounts to the same thing. And the net effect is that you seem to lose what you previously thought of as control. If you would start with making an honest statement about your most basic needs, that would help.

You’ll have to decide whether it’s your job to deal with darkness, or to shed light. Both options are available at all times, though habits and existing skills, plus the ever-present lure of conflict, tend to draw us into the cave of people’s endless shadow-games. You cannot afford to waste precious time as you have quite a bit to accomplish, but attempting to meddle in the negative affairs of others — especially if they beg you to — can easily make you sick. Should this temptation find you, my advice is to walk out the door and keep going. Some amazingly wide horizons are calling, there are people who recognize your true worth and value, and you need to be ever-mindful of just how sensitive you really are. Let everyone else be big & bad.
