Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly for January 2008.

You may not see it now, but your current priority is on survival when what you need to be doing is experimenting with defining yourself openly — very openly. There is no viable meeting between exploring your identity and creative expression in the community, and concealing yourself or struggling to survive. Curiosity is not possible in a state of desperation or of hiding — and while you may or may not feel desperate, you have an exaggerated sense of what is happening to you and what can go wrong. This is little more than fear of the unknown, except what is supposedly so unknown is something about you, and that is a kind of paradox. Can you really not know something about yourself? Well, you can think it’s possible, and if so, you can set up a smokescreen between you and your self-awareness. Yet even given that basic factor, you have at least two choices: delve in bravely and with a sense of exploring (which means, yourself and the world) or pull away and hide inside your shell. You may ask what ‘the world’ has to do with this, but if astrology means anything, your process of self-definition is intimately mingled with the society you inhabit; with the people you share creative energy amongst; with your mission in life, as you define it; and most of all, with the patterns that dominate your life. To get anywhere, you need to define those patterns yourself, and to do that, you need to witness the current ones for what they are. One of your greatest liabilities is that you are a creature of habit. If you are going to develop one dependable fixed pattern, let it be that of constantly changing your fixed patterns. That you did something a certain way yesterday is no reason to do it that way today. Face it: today is a lot more interesting than yesterday was, and tomorrow holds potential you can barely dream of now, but would do well to dare.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Capricorn weekly for June 3, 2011.

You may not feel ready, but you have an opportunity. The lack of readiness has a few components, one of which is being reluctant to take on any more responsibility than you already have. However, if you’re thinking this, you may be working with an outdated concept of responsibility. We could start with an easy shift into the ‘able to respond’ definition of that word; explore that for a while and check out how you feel. In practical terms, doing more is not always a matter of working harder. There are three factors at play: awareness, efficiency and desire. Start by being aware of your surroundings and how they are changing. This includes what supposed authority figures are saying, doing and planning. Next, look for simple solutions to what may seem like complex problems. You should be able to see through the issues and observe them for what they are. Last, the desire factor addresses any additional work. It’s not work if you really, truly, want to do it.

Financial matters rarely take care of themselves; we need to roll up our sleeves and do something about them. Emotional matters are usually the same way; they don’t get better unless they get attention. Anyway, so far as I can see, you need the satisfaction of resolving something on your own terms: yet frequently those terms involve taking a passive approach. Gradually your motivation has been perking up, but it’s been easy enough to ignore. Over the next few weeks, you’re likely to be feeling highly motivated to get your life in gear; which is a beautiful thing as long as you connect the engine to the wheels. If you get the sense that the free flow of energy is blocked, it’s not actually about money or about love; it’s about your trust in your own creativity; trusting your ability to make a positive impact on a situation. I would ask you, what exactly would it take to get you there?

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Aquarius weekly for Feb. 5, 2015.

You’ve been in search of something you may have forgotten or abandoned. That something is a way you used to relate to yourself, and it was a beautiful thing; well, not a thing, but a space where you could relate to yourself in a certain way. For example, it might have been the state of mind wherein you used to keep a journal. The journal was important, but the devotion to doing so, the ritual, the honoring of the inner space, was the real gift. It may have been a yoga practice, or a spiritual practice, or even reading. It is something done in a designated space, which served as a personal ashram. It looks more mental or intellectual than it does physical, though it could be either or both. You are very close to that space right now; you are right at the door or you may be standing inside.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Scorpio weekly for Oct. 4, 2004.

It would appear that a certain odd energy has worked its way into your home over the past year, but as events of the next four or five weeks unfold, you’ll have a much better sense of what it is. Meanwhile, be on the lookout for clues that someone is rebelling against you, or your role in their life. Encourage them to talk sooner rather than later. Or, you could just wait and watch what unfolds, but remember not to act too surprised when the silent tongue speaks. Some people have strange ways of expressing love. You will probably need to do some translating.

The frightening thing about feeling is that each of us is capable of any emotion. Once we open up to a point where we can feel at all that realm of potential opens wide and anything can come to the surface. There is a wide variety of human emotions that are not what you would call ‘spiritually correct’ and besides being intense fear of judgment surrounding these feelings makes it difficult to have any emotional freedom at all. It seems that your job in these weeks is to grant yourself precisely that freedom.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Pisces weekly for March 26, 1999.

Your ideas and perceptions about what is past, what is present and what is future may be a bit mixed up these days, as retrograde Mercury swims upstream in your own sign for the next week, then stops, then swims back downstream. It reminds me of the novel One Hundred Years of Solitude, when a forgetfulness spell came over the whole town, and the local fortune teller spent her days doing Tarot card readings explaining people’s pasts to them. But I suggest you not get too lost in this surrealist soup. Experience shows that time moves in many directions. If you reflect on your life, you may notice that what you’re living today was long ago foretold, which simply means that you are living in the future. It’s a pretty wild place, but to appreciate this to the fullest, you will need to stay firmly grounded in the present.
