Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — What do you create in your relationships? That is, what exactly do you make with your partner? Do you make food? Do you make great sex? Do you make art or music? Do you make a work product of some kind? Do you make babies? Or do you make something a little less pleasant, such as jealousy or stress? Consider the idea that every partnership has a creative product of some kind. Usually, the thing or the feeling that is created is wholly intentional. It’s not an accident when something is made; it does not merely happen. As the Sun ingresses your opposite sign Libra, you are being invited to consider what, exactly, you want to create with the people around you — remembering that it’s going to be something. This is especially true if it’s a sexual relationship, which is a pairing powerful enough to create another life. Just remember that all sexual relationships are procreative.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You don’t need to try so hard. I don’t mean to suggest you not try at all, though there is something that you might call efforting, which is the sensation of putting out too much energy to get a particular thing done. What you’re doing wants to be done and will cooperate with you. Collaboration will help, though it must be the right collaboration, probably not a whole committee but rather one or two people you really trust to assist you with specific tasks, or with handling specific individuals. Meanwhile, monitor your involvement with the details. You don’t need to clean them all up at once. Go through your project in layers; make an improvement, move onto something else, then come back to what you were working on before. This will keep the work interesting and make sure you don’t burn out on any one aspect of what you’re doing.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You may be so connected to your creative source that you’re feeling overwhelmed. Please don’t let this stop you from exploring an idea, a creative project or a relationship experience. You don’t need to get it (or anything) absolutely right the first time; you only need to be sincere. You will get a few other opportunities to revise what you’re doing, and you’re unlikely to lose contact with your original inspiration for long. Give yourself the time and space for creative activities for the next month or two, and take a creative approach to everything you do. My definition of ‘creative’ means taking some risk, which you will feel in your body as well as your mind. You don’t need to strive for ‘pure originality’ but rather consciously approach everything from your own angle or point of view. Originality is grossly overrated and misunderstood. It often works very well to take something from one context and apply it to another, like the Yellow Submarine lunchbox.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Your genetic lineage contains many interesting things. You don’t know what they all are. You are aware of some, which you may think you understand. The existence of others has not been explained, and you may be living with them from day-to-day without noticing there’s something unusual in your environment or your emotional body. In fact these things may have been around so long and are such a dominant part of your landscape that they disappear into the background. They may include certain physical objects that ‘don’t belong’ in your environment or that you’re ‘not supposed to have’ — but which call for careful review and analysis, so that you can understand your own life and how you came to be the way you are. You are entitled to do this for one reason: you are under no obligations to keep any secrets from yourself, and anything you possess or live with can correctly be called part of you.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Presentation counts for everything right now. The details matter less. You must be aware of them, but don’t bog down your message with too much information. You might be inclined to do this in the spirit of integrity, though your integrity will shine through. Therefore, focus on appeal, and on your ability to translate into a language that many people understand. Make sure you convey some excitement about what you’re creating, and your sense of adventure. Whether you’re involved in a business project or directing your energy into a personal relationship, the approach is the same. Know that any encounter or enterprise has the ability to take you to a depth that you’re not expecting. This could be depth of contact, commitment, or expressing your passion in a tangible way. If you encounter resistance, persist gently. Rather than sailing directly into the wind and current, take a diagonal route (in sailing terms, tack a few times) and keep your destination in mind as you do.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Use your power of attraction; use it consciously, though at the moment this is your greatest advantage. If you usually try to maintain a neutral appearance or drop below the radar, I suggest you polarize consciously in the direction of beauty and allow yourself to be more visible than usual. You know that your ongoing self-critique is no longer working for you, if it ever did. This may be a difficult habit to break, however, you’re likely to figure out that it’s more toxic now than ever. In the past you could exist more or less peacefully in a state of not wholly approving of who you are. However, the circumstances of your life and of your evolutionary journey are such that you can no longer do this. Your entire purpose must surround your quest for self-respect, which you then extend into relationship to others, in the spirit of recognizing some aspect of yourself in everyone.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — It’s time to refine (and apply) your political skills, which are your social skills, though a special kind. By political I mean your ability to negotiate, as well as to work within an organizational structure, or within a power structure, to be helpful and also to get a positive result. This is no minor skill in a world where so much is decided on the basis of how well people get along, and who has the informal influence. Politics, properly understood, goes beyond the level of formal social roles. It’s all about how people relate to one another as people, establish the pecking order, exchange favors and exchange resources. Politics is about how people motivate one another and get something done. Other factors in your chart describe you as a bull in a china shop, for whom the notion of diplomacy might be entirely repugnant. Don’t go there — you will lose. Relate to people in a way that you both understand, and never count yourself out of the game.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You know more than you think you know, though it would help immensely if you let go of your attachment to what you know is not true. That would be a long list of things, stories, behaviors, tendencies, goals you’re not really interested in — and the ways you can get dragged into the self-deception of others. The less emphasis you put on all that is untrue, the more energy you will have to focus on what is life-affirming and creative. This may have a daring quality, or the sensation that you’re ‘doing something wrong’ by doing what you want. Alternately, that list of what is untrue may feel comfortable and normal, and if you notice that, I suggest you think it through and ask yourself why exactly that is. There is a reason, and if you understand the reason you will go a long way toward liberating yourself from that whole dimension of drama.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — An interesting mix of energies in your solar chart casts you in two different roles — the agent provocateur, and the perfect diplomat. That adds up to subversive. Being a successful subversive is a skill, and you can go a long way to mastering that skill over the next few days. The thing to remember is that people trust you, and they look to you as an example. The less you say about certain topics the better you will be able to convey your real meaning. Listen for the ways in which people are already likely to agree with you, and take that as your lead. Tap into the ideas and motives of others. This will help you avoid evangelizing, or seeming like you have an agenda. In order to do this with any integrity, you must be clear about what you want to achieve and why. Be real with yourself. Do not make excuses.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You have a moment when you can really shine — whether that means advancing in your profession, initiating a new business or project, or raising your public profile in some significant way. This window begins Monday night (at the equinox, which is Sept. 22 at 10:29 pm EDT), though you may be getting manifestations earlier. I suggest however that you not make any serious moves until the Sun ingresses Libra (that is the equinox). In fact, you would be wise to consider your options until the Moon ingresses Libra just before midnight (EDT) on the 23rd, and extend that window through the New Moon on the 24th. (The opening lasts a while after that, but the New Moon is the main threshold.) Remember that you will be more visible during this phase, and the best thing you can do is put yourself in the right place at the right time (rather than trying to be everywhere all at once). Visibility means accountability. Be alert.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You seem to be seeking a way to get out of the feeling of so much responsibility. It seems like you can handle the pressure, if you get a little time away from it. I suggest the thing you need is a different philosophical approach. You can begin with the idea that you will do what you’re committed to, and at the same time remember that you have other goals. The way to avoid competition between them is to use time more consciously — in other words, remember your long-term objectives and make sure that you put at least a little energy into them on a regular basis, without delaying them to the future. And remember your immediate needs, making sure that you put some energy into them every day. There is one last layer — that which you want to do but are not prepared to act on yet. Keep that list handy, and attach an action date to commencing that is within 12 months from today.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You may be a source of controversy; you may step on a few toes; you may leave some people wondering; you may get some sincere accolades — and if you persist at whatever you are doing, you will succeed. As for the responses and reactions of others, remember how easy it is for people to talk shit. Critiques may be helpful — take them under advisement rather than eating them for a meal. Praise is cool, just don’t let it distract you. Stay on mission. Let nothing, and I mean nothing, eat at your confidence. Keep going. If you get fatigued (which is possible, given the late Virgo Sun, and Mars square Neptune this weekend) refresh yourself with music or time outside, and keep going. You may have many ideas pouring forth from your mind — just write them down and do not evaluate how you feel about them. Just keep going.

Eric Francis Sex By Sign #8: Week of Sept. 11

Eric-Francis-GLYDE-Sex-by-Sign-588x2942

Dear Friend and Reader:

Every time I read about the “reuniting of sexuality and spirituality,” I cringe a little. Both of these words seem like false concepts. Part of what seems so weird about them is that they start off being mutually exclusive, as if you cannot be spiritual if you like sex, or you cannot be sexual if you’re one of those spiritual people.

Or closer to the point, you cannot admit to one and claim to be the other, without raising a few eyebrows. I was reading the Planet Waves blog the other day when I saw this quote, in an article by Michael Picucci (of Psychology Tomorrow), selected by our editors:

“Sexual healing is the shame-free revisiting of complex sexual histories, limitations and perceptions combined with new awareness, understanding, and compassion. In the process of this rejuvenation, we learn how to merge our spiritual and sexual energies. The ‘sexual-spiritual split’ is a culturally induced, deep psychic schism that haunts relationships and precludes emotional fulfillment. Resolving this powerful inner conflict is necessary for true body, mind and spirit connections.”

Mars, the planet of desire, is about to enter Sagittarius, one of the signs that traditional astrology associates with all matters of a spiritual or religious nature. Mars will be newly bathed in a long trip through Scorpio, and so extra horny. When it plunges into Sagittarius, and enters a new dialog with Neptune in Pisces (more spirituality), there will be some interesting results.

I suggest you pay attention to this whole sexual-spiritual issue during the next few weeks, and not take anything for granted. Accept none of the many judgments that religion has placed on sex, always to religion’s own benefit and the loss of human happiness.

Your own doubt is no proof that religion is ‘right’. Your misgivings or guilt are proof of nothing except that something was done to you — that is, an agenda was pushed on you. Now is your moment to stop and question that, and figure out what is true for you, regardless of what anyone says is true for them.

w/love, your astrologer,
Eric Francis

ARIES - SEX BY SIGN ERIC FRANCISARIES (March 20-April 19)
Instead of purity or perfection, reach for clarity and passion, and you will get them. Still, you may feel like you’re pushing a limit or like you may run out of control. I suggest you explore that edge, which will also take your imagination to a place that seems more dangerous than usual. The seeming danger, of course, is that you will want to burst free and do what you would not normally do.

TAURUS Sex in Signs by Eric FrancisTAURUS (April 19-May 20)
You are walking the fine line between what is called Right Tantra and Left Tantra –– absolute discipline and the need to break any and all rules. Though this may seem like a contradiction, it’s also an image of balance, and the paradox that you will reconcile on the way to wholeness. When you experiment with one, remember that the other exists. Neither is the correct way — both are necessary, perhaps urgently so.

GEMINI Sex by Signs Eric FrancisGEMINI (May 20-June 21)
Most people spend their lives avoiding others. We could come up with a million reasons why that is, which is exactly, precisely, the problem. How will you respond if someone comes onto you directly? Will you make excuses to avoid the encounter, or give yourself reasons to let things unfold naturally? Yes, there is a risk involved; there’s a risk involved in everything. Sometimes it’s worth taking a chance on an encounter that could fulfill at least one very wild dream.

CANCER Sex by Signs Eric Francis CANCER (June 21-July 22)
Desire is healthy. It’s necessary and it’s a sign of vitality. Therefore, allow yourself to desire, and to indulge in a little bit of too much. If doing this leaves you feeling a little weird, rather than judging yourself, or your desires, ask yourself why this could be so. You don’t need to accept any notion of the idea that “sex is sinful,” which seems to underlie most misgivings about sexual desire. Really question that in a deep way, while you’re busy having fun.

LEO Sex by Sign GLYDE by Eric FrancisLEO (July 22-Aug. 23)
Let your curiosity drive your sexuality. Most people depend on their hormones, which are connected to the instinctual level, and are not especially creative. Curiosity is creative, and it leaves room for information coming from your cells and your senses. Curiosity is connected to art, and it’s an art form of its own. I believe that sexual curiosity is the highest form of the art. Most people keep it in a box. Set yours free.

VIRGO Sex by Signs GLYDE Eric FrancisVIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
Nobody is perfect, by which I mean no-one and not any body. If you confuse attaining perfection with sex appeal, you have set yourself up to lose what in truth for you can be an easy game. Remember that anyone with a modicum of sophistication will see the whole you, and find your quirks and contradictions appealing and attractive. Face it: when you’re beautiful, there’s nothing you can do about that. So why bother?

LIBRA Sex by Signs Eric Francis GLYDELIBRA (Sept. 22-Oct. 23)
You do not need a strategy for deeper love or more sex; you merely need to be your beautiful, charismatic self. The only plan you need is to put yourself where you can be seen, and to say what you really mean. It’s true that authenticity scares off some people, indeed, many people, and they are just the ones you want at a distance. It’s also magnetic to those who are bold and gutsy — that is to say, your type.

SCORPIO Sex by Signs Eric Francis for GLYDESCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
To say “be passionate” means “be passionate about yourself and your existence.” That in turn opens the door to passion about others and their existence, which you naturally want to express. But you want to back that up with self-awareness and self-love, so that you have some substance and deep current beneath those waves you are surfing. Remember, the opposite of all of this is jealousy.

SAGITTARIUS Sex by Sign Eric Francis GLYDESAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
Desire. You’re about to feel it, in all its liberating passion and complexity. Your desire is about to take you on a journey. Just take the ride, feeling and seeing the many sights and sounds as you go. Honest desire will teach you, it will change you and will put you in a position to grow, and to figure out who you are. If desire is taboo, these are the reasons why — and they are fantastic reasons.

CAPRICORN Sex by Sign Eric Francis for GLYDECAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
What if your sexuality were on full display for everyone to see? Yes, fully dressed, with all of your Capricornesque care of presentation, yet totally transparent. Imagine if you could not, as you so often do, succeed at having any façade that presented the appearance of denying your desire, your attractiveness and your unusual erotic strength? What if people could see you for who you truly are, in all your sexual glory? I assure you — they can.

AQUARIUS Sex by Sign ERic Francis for GLYDEAQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
Desire, love, sex, passion, the freedom to choose who we love: all of these things need advocates. You might not think that something as supposedly popular as sex needs anyone standing up for it, though I assure you that it does. Sex and pleasure need bold people setting an example and stating out loud that it’s not only OK to feel and to want, it’s necessary and it’s also beautiful. So speak up.

PISCES Sex by Sign by Eric Francis for GLYDEPISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
Power is sexy. Just about everyone knows that, though few people are willing to admit that they, personally, are turned on by power. You are now visible as a person of accomplishment, which will focus attention in your direction. But don’t be surprised if anyone demurs or avoids your glance despite their probable interest in you. Meet them on the human level, where they are comfortable going, and your star quality will shine all the brighter.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You’re being invited to go beyond your known borders in a bold and adventurous way. You seem to have had more than enough with being confined in a partnership or contractual situation, and you’re figuring out that you have much broader horizons than you’ve acknowledged any time recently. You are under no obligation to live the way you lived in the past, following rules that you followed in the past. Yet rather than throw anything (or everything) to the four winds, I suggest you at least state your position clearly to whom it may concern. You do not need permission from anyone else, though you will benefit from the integrity that comes from speaking your truth and not leaving anyone guessing, blaming themselves or blaming you. Of course you cannot control that entirely, but you can have a positive influence and keep your karma positive.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — What matters is not the form of a relationship but rather the creative fire that it contains. You may have lost sight of that recently, though you are now being reminded of what is so often neglected. This takes more devotion than most mortals are willing to invest into their journeys with others, and consistency that is rare to find. Yet I suggest you remember that ultimately this is not about a relationship; it’s about you, your integrity and your commitment to life. Unusual, unexpected things happen when you take the chance of asserting your soul, though it’s best not to expect them but rather allow your clarity of purpose to be its own reward. Keep your focus and remember to stay true to yourself first, and to what you want, second. From this space, when passion takes hold, it does so in a much more reliable way.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Next to self-esteem, I think that trust is the most pressing issue facing Western society. Indeed, this may be a global issue, though I think of it more as a problem of those who have the option not to trust and still make it through the day, which is our story here in the lavishly wealthy part of the world. One thing people tend not to trust is when someone desires them, or makes a direct approach of some kind. If that happens over the next few days, will you meet the person face to face, or will you bob and weave, and avoid the encounter? Remember, you are required neither to make nor accept any promises. You only need to trust enough to learn more. I suggest you go through a few layers of experience rather than allowing yourself to be turned off at the first meager question or appearance that does not fit your idea of who someone is supposed to be. Stay around long enough to find out.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Now is the time to get serious about a health issue, or your overall state of fitness. Move gently through any resistance, which may come in the form of inertia — or fear. You may experience some confusion early in the process, but that will give way to recognizing the integrity of what you are doing. Remember that there is no physical situation that is not connected to some underlying spiritual and/or emotional state, so know what your real goal is. A similar scenario will hold true for work-related matters. This is the time to motivate yourself to do your very best work. The challenges you meet will be more than compensated by a boost to your self-esteem every time you get a job done well. So don’t waste any time doubting. Be confident in your talents and trust your motivation. Meet any doubt with a positive attitude and sense of adventure, and be eager to see what is around every corner.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Creativity is delusional. That’s the whole idea. It’s not supposed to make perfect sense or be practical. It’s a kind of impassioned fantasy, or journey begun with an unknown destination. One vital element of creative exploration is that you allow it to be pointless, seemingly for its own sake, or for a diversion. Then refinement comes later; that requires a different kind of discipline, a shift in viewpoint and ongoing review. Yet that is not the heart of the matter, the thing with no substitute. The core is allowing yourself that space of freedom from some worldly intention other than to allow your ideas to flow. It’s true that some artists and musicians get lost in this aspect of the work, and never get to the refinement stage. For now, don’t worry about that. Other aspects suggest you will focus that level of activity, and that you will be able to connect this to your vocational or business plan.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You must be cautious of the self-critical qualities of Virgo for the next few days, lest they undo something that could work out brilliantly for you. If you find you’re taking yourself apart in any way that feels unpleasant or like it’s the return of an old habit, pause and shift the narrative. The problem with self-criticism is that you can pawn it off on yourself as some form of improvement. However, that is rarely true, and when it is true, it will last for about five minutes maximum before you take constructive action or engage in a healing process. But there is something suspect about any self-judgment that comes up for you now, especially if it arrives in the form of needing to be more spiritual, or needing to focus more. The real themes of your chart are keeping an open mind and encouraging forgiveness, of yourself and of others. This is a fine line to walk — keep your eyes and ears open.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Don’t get too caught up in plans and strategizing — plenty more useful information is about to emerge, timed approximately with the Sun’s arrival in your sign in just over one week, followed by a magnificent New Moon. You may, however, be obsessed with one particular plan that seems like exactly the right thing to do, and it may be. I suggest, in that case, that you make a generous list of everything you don’t know and keep all of that in mind. As long as you know you don’t know, you will be on solid ground. Remember that idea: the key to knowing is to know when you don’t know, and to the best extent you can, to know what information you are missing. Then be patient, and pay attention to what comes your way. Once you structure your learning process, you magnify its power, and make more efficient use of the information that comes to you.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — I’m here today to remind you of something the magnificent Lois Rodden, one of the great astrologers of our lifetime, once said to me. Mercury, she said, is often considered the money planet (mainly since it’s associated with merchants and commerce), but for money, the planet you really want on your side is Mars. The reason for that is because making money requires motivation and focused intention. Mars is about to ingress Sagittarius, your house of available resources (the 2nd house), and that will provide just those elements. Yet there is one caveat — that your mode of creating resources be connected to your soul-level mission, or what most people would think of as your true values. I’ll say this another way. You’re about to get a serious boost in your money-creating power and for it to work well for you and for everyone else, focus that energy on doing the right thing. You know what it is.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Mars ingressing your sign on Saturday will, at least, demonstrate that your worst fears were not true. At best, you will focus your goals with new commitment and determination. While Sagittarius is associated with many things, remember that its deeper meaning is the one-pointed determination to follow your highest calling and to get the job done. Sagittarius at its best brooks no distraction, no competition, no compromises. Mars, which itself carries the symbol of focused determination — the same arrow that appears in the Sagittarius glyph — emboldens that whole program of getting the job done. On the physical plane and especially on our planet, you need this kind of strength and focus to cut through the nearly limitless bullshit that is flying around, and to avoid the many diversions that prevent most progress. You certainly have an adventure ahead — though one with a clear purpose and as much assurance of success as is possible. Choose your direction. Go forward, and keep going forward.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — People respect you in a way that you may not fully understand. Yet you may be receiving the message that you must set an example for others. Remember that such an example does not imply that you must be pure, or practice chastity, or deny that you have feelings and attachments. I suggest you focus the experience of your full humanity into what you offer the world, and draw strength from having no fear of controversy whatsoever. It is true that at this time in your life, you are creating an ever-greater impact on the world around you, and part of how you’re doing that is through focusing your sincerity. This is not an option. It’s not a frill. It’s an evolutionary imperative, and at its core is your ability to be real with yourself at all times. So accept no excuses, and grant yourself no casual exceptions. Progress is at stake –- of a rare kind, available in this moment.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You seem to be finding your voice, in a way that is close to your heart — in your community. There are many ways to define community these days; this would seem to be the one that you consider your spiritual home, or your primary tribe. You have been unusually reserved, cautious or conservative in recent times of your life, and you are now being invited to step into a far more visible role, standing up for some cause, commitment or mission that you may have been reluctant to speak about in the past. You may feel vulnerable doing this, though I assure you that you are standing on a deep foundation, and that unlike most people, your leadership is grounded on the strength of your moral authority. I don’t say this lightly and I suggest you not take it lightly — and not let that stop you from going past your previous limits and taking a genuine risk for what is truly a worthwhile cause.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — I have never seen the word “achievement” in any textbook description of Pisces, which demonstrates why we need better sources than those books. Yet this quality — of aspiration, motivation, determination — is written all over the charts of Pisces because you have Sagittarius in your 10th house of reputation, profession and authority. Mars is about to cross the cusp of that house, and that is putting you in the mood to accomplish great things. This you will do, if you remember your highest goals and put integrity above appearance. Take no shortcuts to success, and make sure that you’re available and accountable for your decisions. There’s an element of this that may conflict with your image as a sensitive, empathic person. In truth there is no conflict between these elements of who you are, but just in case, the solution is to focus on the quality of your work, never compromising, and making sure you push the opportunity to have that work seen by as many people as possible.

Fantasy and Reality are Closer Than you Think

Dear Friend and Reader:

There’s an idea that fantasy and reality are two different things. One seems to exist only in the mind, and the other exists in physical ‘reality’. Yet everything that happens in your life happens in your mind, wherever else it may manifest, which is the first similarity to keep in mind.

Then, anything that manifests in time, in physical form, has a point of origin in the mind. Everything you see in the world around you started as a sketch on paper (or more lately, a computer) and was then constructed or produced. In a similar way, everything you experience is first designed mentally and emotionally. This is a good reason to get a handle on your creativity.

On Monday there will be a Full Moon in Pisces. The Full Moon happens when the Moon and the Sun form an opposition to one another, making a connection from the world of dreams and imagination (Pisces) to the physical world. For the next few days, that connection is especially strong. Pisces, the official slittiest sign, is all about helping you get your sexual fantasies into manifestation.

If you want to do that, the first key is to acknowledge them to yourself, in some clear and tangible form, like writing. The second step is to express them to others who might want to participate. Remember that not everyone necessarily be interested in your concept of fun, so choose who you share with carefully, and keep a thick skin in case anyone suggests that your idea is too weird. I assure you that it’s not. Even in the realm of ‘normal’ sex, you have plenty of wiggle room before you really get into weird.

One other thing I’ll mention. If you have a scenario you want to explore, such as three-way sex (perhaps the most popular erotic fantasy to experiment with) give it a few times before you decide how you feel about it. It’s necessary to do your best choosing your partners, and it’s vital to make sure that everyone is entering the situation with their heart open (that is a bit of wisdom from Tantra).

Remember, though, that fantasy and reality have different properties, and that the translation process can take a little while. Every if you don’t like something the first time, or if it feels awkward, give it another chance or two. Remember that you are leading the way into new territory, both for yourself and for others.

That new territory is wide open right now, and there is lots of room to explore — so let your imagination run wild, and consider who might be willing to play.

Lovingly, your astrologer,
Eric Francis

PS, on Monday, Sept. 8 at 8 pm EDT, I am hosting a live conference call devoted to the Pisces Full Moon. It’s free and everyone is invited. Check it out here….

ARIES - SEX BY SIGN ERIC FRANCISARIES (March 20-April 19)
Your fantasies are running hot and wild, but will you have the courage to open up about them? If a relationship partner is uninterested, don’t let that discourage you. At least find someone you can share your thoughts with, and have fun doing it. Consider the fact that others may be less timid and well behaved than they are letting on. Be bold about enticing them with your idea of an adventure.

TAURUS Sex in Signs by Eric FrancisTAURUS (April 19-May 20)
Be bold, as bold as you can get yourself to be, by which I mean free and a bit wild in social situations. Yes, you have reasons to behave yourself, but you have even better motives to fill up on your life- force energy and break free from the social conventions that you sometimes think run your life. They are a veil (which might show up as hesitancy or embarrassment), and on the other side of that veil is a lot of fun.

GEMINI Sex by Signs Eric FrancisGEMINI (May 20-June 21)
People are attracted to flair and originality, and you have both of these things running strong for you right now. Therefore, take leadership. Feel confident in yourself, in who you want and in what you want, and make your desires known. You are always charming, though there are rare times when you are irresistible, and this is one of them. Make the most of it — strive for the impossible and you’re more likely to reach it.

CANCER Sex by Signs Eric Francis CANCER (June 21-July 22)
Religion has placed all of the most damaging rules on limits on sexual pleasure. If people have love, pleasure and human contact, they have no need to sit inside an old building and listen to someone lecture them about morality. The great thing is that none of this has any power unless you allow it to. Embrace your freedom and that of others in the same gesture. If you need religion, life and love will do just fine.

LEO Sex by Sign GLYDE by Eric FrancisLEO (July 22-Aug. 23)
Imagine that for just one weekend, everything that used to be taboo is suddenly liberated from the potential for judgment. Were that true, what you would you say, and what would you do? You have an open opportunity to ask for anything you want, and to offer anything you want, though you may not believe that’s true until you try. The nuances involved are likely to contain plenty of emotion, mingled with physical desire.

VIRGO Sex by Signs GLYDE Eric FrancisVIRGO (Aug. 23-Sep. 22)
You may find someone close to you is open to some of the most unusual sexual experiences they’ve ever (or never) had, though I would ask — how open are you? My perception of the charts is that this is the perfect astrology for opening up together. So I suggest you take the initiative and get the dialog going. Photography shows up in the charts, either as a means of illustrating what you want, or by expressing yourself in pictures.

LIBRA Sex by Signs Eric Francis GLYDELIBRA (Sept. 22-Oct. 23)
Many people associate sex with pain, struggle and violence. Many are more drawn to longing than they are to fulfillment. It’s time for our culture to open up to an idea that sex offers the potential for healing, and this begins with you. You can consciously set an intention to associate sex with pleasure and with healing, and count that as the first step to your own personal healing. Use your intuition, and stay with yourself.

SCORPIO Sex by Signs Eric Francis for GLYDESCORPIO (Oct. 23-Nov. 22)
Sex can be about pleasure, or it can be about power. The more of one you have, the less of the other you will have. To let go of the power aspect, which is certainly not a source of happiness, it’s necessary to go right for the pleasure — to give, to receive and most of all, to allow. A vast space is opening up where this is possible, and in that space you can conduct an experiment.

SAGITTARIUS Sex by Sign Eric Francis GLYDESAGITTARIUS (Nov. 22-Dec. 22)
Between shagging and monogamous marriage there is a world of experience available. You might not know it existed, if you listened to people talk about their sexual experiences. There’s just one way to enter and explore that space, which is honest communication; actual sharing, of profound personal resources, with no intention of future gain. That explains its lack of popularity, and also why you want to enter boldly and discover what just about everyone else is missing.

CAPRICORN Sex by Sign Eric Francis for GLYDECAPRICORN (Dec. 22-Jan. 20)
I suggest you write out several of your hottest fantasies, in detail. Doing so will take you one step closer to manifestation, and serve as a pleasure vector all its own. Mostly, though, the experience of getting your thoughts onto paper or the screen will help you clarify what you want, which is vital to sexual happiness.  The great thing about imagination is that it’s safe — even though those who lack imagination hold it as very, very dangerous.

AQUARIUS Sex by Sign ERic Francis for GLYDEAQUARIUS (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)
Masturbation is one thing when it’s an indulgence of pleasure, and another when that pleasure is consciously given as a gesture of love. There are some for whom this is natural, others for whom it would sound like the strangest concept in the world. For you right now, it’s an easy place to go. Make sure that the pleasure includes granting yourself total freedom of imagination, as a gift to yourself, because you truly care.

PISCES Sex by Sign by Eric Francis for GLYDEPISCES (Feb. 19-March 20)
You are the cosmic portal. You know this, right? Your presence, and in particular, your sexual energy, has the power to take people beyond themselves, beyond their struggle, beyond what they think is possible. An unspeakably beautiful Full Moon (Monday evening in the US) in your own birth sign has this gift of yours running strong right now. Tap into this energy yourself and you will naturally want to share it with others.

Moonshine Horoscopes — Pisces Full Moon Edition

Monday Sept. 8 is the Pisces Full Moon, exact at 9:38 pm EDT (Tuesday at 1:38 UTC). (View full chart here.) Elizabeth Michaud and Len Wallick have interpreted this lunation for each of the 12 Moon signs in their horoscopes below.

To read these horoscopes, it helps to know your Moon sign (where the Moon was at the moment of your birth), which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. If you know your birth time, that will ensure accuracy — but often you can still be sure of its sign even if the exact degree is fuzzy. You can also read these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional insight.

By Elizabeth Michaud and Len Wallick

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — This is likely to be a very personal Full Moon for you. Personal in the sense of a dream you cannot describe to anyone else because they would have had to be there in order to understand. To better grasp what you might be unable to convey verbally, think of yourself as an explorer. Carefully observe, so as to remember. Follow the flow of your emotions as the surest, swiftest way in, but keep your wits about you through the twists and turns so as to also find your way out. Most of all, seek out new resources you can use to resolve old complaints.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — If you get the sense that you are entering strange days without end, assuage yourself by entertaining the possibility that you are in fact emerging from such a period. Consider whether your life is actually returning to a more nourishing and healthful normal, which only appears strange for its long absence. Draw upon past experiences of re-acquainting yourself with what once was familiar. Settle down where you are. Take what time you can for rest and recreation this month. Fortify yourself. At least one more transition awaits you before you are home.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — If you are feeling the world is too big for comfort, the sensation will probably pass as soon as you grow your recently achieved awareness. If, on the other hand, your life is feeling confined and narrow, you will have to be the one to divest yourself of that notion. Right now, a broader level of comfort and an expanded sense of opportunity are available should you but open your mind to the possibility. Soon you will have the requisite motivation to achieve that opening, but there is a question of whether you will master your desires or whether they will master you.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Being of service does not necessarily require sacrificing yourself completely, just like being of use does not entail being responsible for every detail. The time period surrounding this Full Moon brings issues of passion and faith to your awareness. Sometimes, when things are flowing — when you love and feel loved in return — you can give boundlessly and selflessly. Instead of being awash in the tides of passion, you are in a position to guide yourself in the emotional current. You can afford to be more honest with yourself about what you want in relationships, and what you are willing to give in return.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — While it is certainly true that money isn’t everything, the stress involving finances can often be an overwhelming burden. Part of dealing with that stress is sorting out the details involving your income and resources. There is a freedom being offered to you right now to deal with some uncomfortable issues, to shed some baggage, and to gain a more mature sense of self-worth regarding how you sustain yourself and what you need to feel good. Remember that your value is measured within, not without. It is a useful time to cut out the superficial and get down to basics.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — The therapeutic opportunities that this Full Moon makes available to you are invaluable. How do you feel in your relationships? Since one of your innate skills is the ability to make sense of the pieces of the whole, this is a good time to look at the inner workings of people you are close to, and see if all the pieces add up to something healthy. Don’t be too critical, of yourself or of them. Just be honest and compassionate and see what you come up with. Who do you really feel good with? Take a moment to appreciate the people that lift you up. There is a long line between self-interest and self-sacrifice, and you will be a happier part of the whole when you understand that.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — If something seems to be nagging at you, like a vague discomfort, take a moment to ask yourself one question — do you feel valued for what you contribute to the world? This doesn’t only apply to work that earns you money, although that is part of it. You may find yourself tapping into deeply buried insights, systematically showing or hinting at steps to take. Follow your gut, particularly regarding sharing your creative skills. From making art to encouraging a friend in need, you have more imaginative talents than you know. Express those traits, and let things take off from there.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Your perseverance and resilience have opened up a world of emotional empathy. The depth of understanding is a resource — you are in touch with your own motivations and the impulses of others. Visualize dumping garbage down a trash chute. That’s what you are doing right now. By releasing the old, you will let wounds and stubborn grudges fall away, opening up space for supportive and nurturing interactions. It is likely that the space now emerging may soon be filled with exactly the kind of passion and integrity you seek. For now, consider your emotional world as a piece of land you must clear and heal in order to build on it in the future.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — It’s OK if you feel a little on edge these days — this phase will not last forever — and soon the bee that may have been buzzing in your bonnet will rest. Before the momentum shifts your way, do yourself a favor and clean out the closets of your personal life. When the party gets going, you are going to want as many friendly faces around you to celebrate as possible. Do what you can to heal the hurts that linger while those channels are still open. If something is making you feel nervous or guilty, tend to it. Make amends. We are human, and forgiveness and self-acceptance are keys to living freely in this life.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Sometimes less is more. Sometimes it isn’t. Until the end of the year, it would probably be a good idea to consider how concepts of less and more have been working for you, and how things might work better. Begin with something easily under your control: how much you say. If ever there were a time to express succinctly without sacrificing what you need to say, it appears to be now. Economy with words nearly always adds to their force and value, but they have to be the right words, and well timed.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Now would be an appropriate time for you to invoke the proverb about still waters running deep. Although Aquarius is an air sign, its iconic association with water is comparable to a paradoxical but persistent nickname — like a tall person called “Shorty,” or a short person known as “Stretch.” To better honor and be at peace with your own paradoxes, do what you can to cultivate stillness as the Pisces Full Moon approaches. The result could find you evoking a greater depth than ever before. You may also find yourself better understood and more loved for who you truly are.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You may not always be comfortable with the spotlight, but here it probably comes. Rather than avoid the attention you will potentially be attracting, use it. Not so much for gain; more for self-awareness. Whenever, however and wherever you become the focus of others, acknowledge it respectfully and appropriately without getting caught up in it. It’s not the perceptions of others that matter at this time. It’s how you respond to being the center of attention that you should study intently — in the moment, at every opportunity. What you learn could change the course of your life.

Weekly Horoscope for Thursday, Sept. 4.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You need an outlet for all this energy. It has to be something that matches your imagination, and this in turn is likely to be a bit much for the people you’ve been associating with lately. It looks like most of the people around you are running about 15 degrees cooler than you are. Said another way, you may not find many others who are willing to take the creative or social risks you want to take, so I suggest you not let anyone hold you back, or persuade you that you’re being a little too wild. You may be, for their tastes, but not for what your soul is calling you to express or explore. You may need a little self-coaxing to openly admit what you want, and a bit more to act on it — though I suggest you move with the current momentum of your imagination, while that momentum is carrying you.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Marriage is not the solution to everything. If there is such a solution, that would be trust, and it seems obvious that trust is what people are seeking when they invest themselves in relationships that are designed to be ‘permanent’. Yet it’s easy not to trust, and to give oneself reasons not to trust, even in the seemingly most secure situation. Where do you stand on this subject? One way to measure that is by considering carefully what you say and what you don’t say to the people you consider your intimates. You seem to be of two minds about this — sometimes willing to be totally transparent and at others feeling like this is inconvenient, or an unnecessary risk. You don’t need to overanalyze this. If you have something on your mind, say so, and if you have a question, ask directly. In fact, make a wish.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — The forthcoming Full Moon streaks across the sky in the angle of your chart involved with achievement and reputation. It’s a direct invitation to be bold about who you are and what you do, and to keep those two things as aligned as you can. I suggest you eliminate the concept of ‘career’ from your vocabulary and instead replace it with the concept of your vocation. A vocation is a calling, and there has rarely been a time when a calling was summoning you more boldly. Are you listening? Can you hear it? Can you see the signs leading you to the place you want to be? Or are you afraid that what you want to do is too good to be true, or too adventurous to be possible? Perhaps it might be for most people on most days, but not for you, at this time in your life.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — There’s just one thing left to do, and that is to have faith in yourself, in your dreams and in your potential. Well, there’s just one other thing to do, which is to take action while you are feeling inspired and bold. It’s way too easy to wait for the wave of confidence to pass. It’s also way too easy to allow yourself to be motivated by frustration, which has its place, though as you’ve seen over the past few months, there are much more preferable ways to get yourself going. Next week’s Full Moon in your fellow water sign Pisces is inviting you to dream big. This means not allowing yourself to be limited by what you considered out of reach in the past. Consider what you would do if you didn’t believe in any limits at all, and then move precisely in that direction.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Go beyond secrecy and taboo in any form. The more secrets you let out of the bag, the more fun you will have. There are two reasons for this. One is that keeping information to yourself is like wearing a brick around your neck. The other reason is that all of the really enticing stuff we have to share is usually kept behind the veil of secrecy, where it doesn’t get a chance to flourish. The Pisces Full Moon takes place in one of the most intimate angles of your chart. You will get a chance to see that intimacy means openness and transparency. To get the benefits of this event, it would be helpful to lean into the side of revealing more rather than revealing less. If you find yourself revealing one fact or feeling, that is the one to reveal. You will feel better, and unplug those places where your energy has been getting blocked.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Imagine a world with no concept of ‘other’ or of opposition, a world where you are in harmony with everyone and everything around you. This may be difficult to conjure up on a planet where just about everyone and everything seems to be in some state of competition or conflict with something else, though I invite you to use your imagination. How might that feel? Now consider the possibility that each day that you live is a step that you take on the way to getting to that place of integration. In truth such a state of existence begins within your mind, not as something you impose on yourself but rather as something you observe about yourself. What’s beautiful about the next few days is an opening through which a rather unusual light shines, and you get to see yourself reflected in it.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Pleasure, imagination, curiosity — these are some of the most potent healing tools available to us. Yet to be effective there needs to be some soul presence, or a conscious idea of seeking self-knowledge. I am not talking about entertainment. For many people the opening into the healing dimension may as well be a sealed door expertly polished into marble to make it seem like it’s not there. However, it is most certainly there, and you already have confirmation that such a dimension exists and that you can indeed access it, even if you cannot predict when. Right now the astrology is aligning in a way that makes this dimension closer than ever, and that increases your ability to feel your way to it. Just remember that you know you’re responding to something that is real, and to which you have direct access, if you need it.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Monday’s Pisces Full Moon happens in what you might think of as the pleasure center of your solar chart — the 5th house. Most of what passes for pleasure in Western society is really an effort to avoid pain. There are several ways you can tell the real thing from the counterfeit version. One is the presence of curiosity about yourself, and it’s an intensely pleasurable curiosity. It’s the kind of feeling good that goes deeper into previously unknown, or forgotten, regions of who you are. Another is the desire for freedom. That can translate to craving the unknown, which is a specific kind of liberty. This will teach you something about pleasure anxiety, which is really a form of self-control rooted in a ‘need’ for what is absolutely familiar. Take an extended moment and allow your existence to be a mystery and an adventure. You are being invited into an unusually deep inner space.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Creativity must have an emotional source. It can feed you intellectually, and feed your quest, but the drive to create is body-level, akin to the need to breathe, or your response to pain. Actually those are fitting metaphors for the creative process, as it does involve an in-breath and out-breath of experience, and some of the world’s greatest creative works have served artists, musicians and writers as a way to process loss. For you, creativity helps you build your inner home. When you tap your gifts, you create a space of safety for yourself, and you can then move into that space and live more confidently. You might think of that as a kind of healing cave, from which emerge many resources and jewels you can share with those you love and care about.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — These years of your life have been some of the most driven and urgent ever, arriving with one enforced change after the next. Yet there is another way to evolve, which is to relax into what is possible. You don’t need to resist yourself, and you certainly don’t need to dwell on your worst fears. You can find that space inside yourself where you have no concerns at all about whether you’re accepted by others, or have a place in society, and when you get there, you may feel like you’re taking a warm bath for the first time. There is a way of being where you can, at least for a while, step out of any judgment, which is more likely to feel like stepping into self-embrace. If you feel a tinge of guilt, don’t fight it; keep going; you are headed in the right direction. It will rinse off of your skin like soap.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — What is it that makes you human? I would propose that it’s a self-reflective quality — the awareness of your own awareness, which leads to consciousness of your own existence. Because everyone has a unique emotional makeup, that consciousness might emphasize pain, or pleasure, or love, or anger, or desire, or the desire to create. Humanity is the capacity to be aware of such a feeling and to respond to it. As the Pisces Full Moon lights up the dimension of your horoscope associated with your inner resources, and the feelings you have for yourself, I suggest you let the awareness of any emotion, thought or desire remind you of the fact that you exist. After awareness, the next stage of evolution is the ability to respond to what you feel, and to consciously create a desired state of experience. You are closer to that self-creative state than you’ve ever been.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Speaking of human, what is it that makes you a Pisces? What is the confirmation of your inner knowledge that you were born at the right time? Is it your love of nature, of sex, of music, of sensory experience in any form? Is it your unquenchable longing for cosmic connection, to yourself and to other people? Is it the love of sacred plants? Whatever it may be, this weekend (and Monday) is the time to go fully into that experience, with no expectations — give yourself the gift of a full-on experiment and see where that takes you. With the Moon conjunct Chiron and with Neptune right in the neighborhood, that could well be anywhere — or anywhere you want. For reference, the Moon ingresses Pisces Sunday at 7:47 pm EDT (23:47 UTC) and reaches full phase Monday at 9:38 pm EDT (Tuesday at 1:38 UTC). See you there!

Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for September 2014

September is the month of the Libra equinox, a time of balancing out our lives. It’s been an intense year — more or less productive, and for some, a bit tumultuous. If you can manage it, take a week or two to coast and reflect on what you’ve been through and what you’ve accomplished. The Sun enters the seventh sign of the zodiac at 10:29 pm EDT on Monday, Sept. 22. Before that happens, the Pisces Full Moon is Sept. 8. Mars enters Sagittarius on Sept. 13. The Libra New Moon is Sept. 24, with the Sun still very close to equinox. Toward the end of the month, Mercury will be slowing down to retrograde, which begins Oct. 4.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — If you’ve been reluctant to spread your wings lately, now is the time to get out in the Sun, dry them off and get ready to fly. The question is less about where you want to go and why you want to go there. You seem to have set yourself free from the constraints of a situation in which you felt cornered or in which your needs were not being met. Coming through this has been a more significant initiation than you may yet recognize; you faced what you thought might be the worst-case scenario and you came out on top of the game. If you’ve learned one thing, it’s not to make commitments that extend too far into the future.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Don’t get so caught in the details that you snuff out your best ideas. The details certainly matter, though they are not what will carry the day. In fact, the feeling to go for is one of risk, though typically your warning threshold is set very low on this particular factor. There are times when nearly everything seems too dangerous or daring. You seem torn between one of those moments and then trusting that it really will be worth taking a chance. If you need some inspiration, consider the people you know who refuse to take any risks at all. Notice the results of that point of view, and consider whether you want that. That will light a fire in your mind.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You may be inclined to plan your strategy with great care and caution, though this seems to miss the point of your current endeavor. Anyway, the kinds of things you’re trying to guard against are not the ones you want to bother with. In fact defensiveness of any kind will serve to close off most of the truly interesting possibilities that you have available. And it’s likely that the motivation to take action will come from someone besides yourself, which is a reason to stay open to the influences of others. Bear in mind that the most influential people are unlikely to be the ones you’re in ‘conventional’ relationships with. Pay attention to the weirdos.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The way to improve a situation in an intimate partnership is not to cling or control but rather to learn how to relate your needs and desires in a way that does not involve a confrontation. Start by taking ownership of whatever you’re experiencing. You will find out fairly soon whether this will work. Make sure you are gentle and patient enough to allow others to see the folly of their own ways. The less you impose your will on them, the better, even if they are getting a little control freakish. Whatever they may think, they cannot impose their will on you without your consent. Remember that rather basic fact of life. Most people forget, or have never figured it out.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You really need to give it a push. By ‘it’ I mean you and whatever you’re doing. You have everything going for you right now, unless you distract yourself with goals that don’t mean much to you, or get caught in your old insecurities. Therefore focus on what is meaningful, and be bold. Focus on what you’ve consistently wanted to do. That is a good way to make sure that something is a priority. Yes, leave some room for new ideas, places and people, but remember what you’ve decided will make a difference in the long-run. At the moment you have motivation, ideas and as much luck as any astrologer could honestly confirm you have going for you. Put them all together with being true to yourself and you will be unstoppable.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You can tap into another kind of intelligence, the kind that’s connected to your intuition; the kind that does not strictly depend on logic. I think you need to be kinder to that aspect of your psyche, and not push it off to the side, the way our society so often does. This is not as simple as ‘trust your intuition’. What I really mean is fully integrate your intuition as a valid aspect of your whole nature. In everything you do, listen to how your thoughts and actions feel in your body. Consider carefully whether you’re rationalizing anything, or consciously trying to omit certain facts from the equation. Notice when some factor in you says stop and when it says go.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — As the Sun passes through what is called your 12th house in the weeks before the equinox, you may find yourself feeling an odd kind of anxiety. The feeling is wanting things to make sense, but they don’t seem to. The other side of the feeling is that things don’t make sense but somehow that is OK. You can allow yourself to have two different kinds of logic for a while. It’s not going to hurt you. You don’t actually need everything to add up perfectly, and it’s healthy to stay in that space where they don’t add up. It’s healthy to have a conscious relationship with the unknown. Holding that space open for a while makes the experience of discovery that much more beautiful.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You know you’re not so motivated by money, not when you look right below the surface of who you are. In truth, you’re motivated by doing the right thing. You’re inspired by inspiration. You trust the unseen. But since the world doesn’t make a lot of room for inspiration, the unseen or the right thing, you must do so; you must be responsive to your deeper motives, and then act on what you feel. Sure, you could easily convert the current astrology into a profit motive, and current aspects will serve to benefit you no matter what. Now, however, you have access to some more idealistic possibilities, including what to do with your resources that you might ordinarily avoid.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — If you want to make the most of the moment you will need to call yourself into focus, set clear goals and stick to them. You may have anything from a nagging feeling to being overwhelmed by the sensation of not knowing who you are. It may be that you are changing so fast you cannot get a handle on yourself. You may not be able to say for sure, but you cannot let that stop you. Think of it this way: who you are is what you do. If you want to experience consistency of Self, then practice consistency of action. If something is out of alignment, you will find out soon enough. This is a valid path to self-discovery. Waiting for the big ‘aha’ moment is more of a fairy tale.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — It seems you want to achieve more than you’re capable of, though your astrology doesn’t tell the story that way. You must learn what to do with your doubts, so that you can note them, and investigate them, but without letting them cripple you. Anyway, what you think are your own misgivings are likely to belong to others; if you investigate that and discover that it’s true, then you’re free to let them go or send them back to where they came from. You don’t owe anyone loyalty in the form of undermining your own confidence. You don’t have to live up to anyone’s mediocrity, or their idea of perfection. Focus the strength of your mind and get ready to take action.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — This looks like the month when you finally get around to pushing your income potential as related to your profession. I don’t mean your job; I mean your true calling. I suggest you do this no matter how meek and mild you’ve been about that calling, though I suspect you’ve invested plenty of energy during the past couple of years. Now it’s time to work the money angle. Don’t fall for anyone else’s ideas or pleadings related to altruism or what you supposedly owe the human race. Make sure that what you do works as a business as well as a point of access to your knowledge, skills, time and resources.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You must keep a realistic perspective, which for you is going to feel like being self-serving. This is true to a degree, though not like most people mean that term. It’s essential that anyone who is in your life actually belongs there. It’s just as important to ensure that anyone for whom you are a source of energy is in an actual exchange with you, rather than just absorbing your vibes, your love or your money. I realize this may violate your Piscean instincts, though Neptune in your sign is a constant caution about the nature of boundaries, and Chiron is insisting that you focus your intentions and your energy on what really matters. You have a mission, it’s calling you right now, and you need every drop of your energy and focusing power to do what you came here to do.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for September 2014

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The chaos factor you’re experiencing may be the result of clinging to an idea about yourself — some point of identity, which feels like insisting on ‘I am’. This has its effect whether one claims to be a doctor, married, cool, pure, gay, straight, trans, smart, stupid, old, young or any other descriptor. One problem with ‘I am’ is that it changes, and right now it’s changing rapidly for you. This may be making you nervous enough to hold on tight — to anything. ‘I am’ rarely describes the deeper and more meaningful level of existence; indeed, the insistence on identity can serve to obscure much else. Your existence is an adventure, a fact that is especially true now. Yes, you need something you can refer to for stability. A relationship will not serve that purpose, especially if that relationship cannot contain the discoveries you’re making about yourself. So what does that leave? It leaves the quest that you’re on. Define yourself by the adventure that’s before you, and within you. Define yourself by the questions that you ask. Know yourself in your immediate experience, by perceiving what is shown to you — and then gradually recognizing the perceiver. Consider the notion, “I am the mind of the senses, the consciousness of creatures.” Who is that mind? Who is that awareness? This is who you are.

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — How risky are ideas? For many people they are terrifying; notice how distinctly unpopular thinking is. Notice society’s tendency to censor, to control, and to spy on what people say. But does that really mean ideas are actually risky? Well, they can be, in the sense that they are the precursor to progress. I suggest you take all the risks you can muster when it comes to thinking for yourself. To do that, you might need to tune in to the ways you were conditioned not to think for yourself, which includes everything from unquestioned prejudices to going along with the crowd to believing something is true because a parent or partner says it’s true. And herein lies the trap — the fear that if you dare to be original, or to question consensus reality, you will be cast out of the tribe. That’s about the last thing you have to worry about now; you are more likely to be considered in a position of leadership, specifically because you possess and use your capacity to think, and to think creatively. Here is a formula you can try, which can turn problems into solutions: Catch yourself every time you go into safe/narrow/prejudiced mode. Pause right then, and prompt yourself to question. Step over the nonexistent barrier and consciously allow your thoughts to unfold.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Sex is communication. Whatever else it may seem to be — recreation, reproduction, creativity, commerce — on the deepest level, it’s an exchange of feelings, energy, contact and words, all inherently communicative. When there’s any kind of breakdown around sex, from antipathy or cheating to violent assault, you can count that as a failure of communication. When you notice one of those, the first thing to do is to get the conversation going. The semantic origins of the word communicate are “to share, divide out; impart, inform; join, unite, participate in,” literally “to make common.” That’s the thing to reach for. This concept could be the basis for an entire course on sex education, suitable for adults or children. Think of it — common ground as the basis for relationship. What a radical notion. You are being drawn into that common ground right now, and it may seem on the surface to be about some form of romance or partnership. That would be true if the world were rated PG-13, but it’s not. Biology runs things on our particular planet, and that topic usually gets an XXX rating. Now, there aren’t usually many words spoken in those awesome little 10-minute features, and it’s up to you to bring some form of a dialog to the table. Not the bedroom; that’s not the best place to talk. The kitchen table is much better.

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — When people say the word ‘commitment’ they usually mean ‘control’. This is not always true; in the most functional situations, commitment obviates the need for control. But in its shadow form, there is usually an expectation that someone is going to give up their power to someone else. I suggest you keep an eye on this, in whatever direction the energy may flow. Make sure your primary commitment is to yourself, and make sure that you’re open with yourself about how you feel about any given situation. Identify your needs without guilt, hesitation or resentment, then set about getting them met one by one. Honesty with everyone is central to this process, which always begins as responsiveness to your inner dialog. Now, you might notice how much of that involves the attempt at self-control — and you might notice that there are forces at work in your psyche that are saying it’s time to cut loose. This may especially be true around your work or profession. You seem tired of being hemmed in, and ready to accomplish something much greater than you ever have in the past. You do not need to revolt or reinvent your life. I suggest you do what you know works well, always with an original flare, and the revolution will come to you.

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Though the Sun has moved on to Virgo, he has very courteously left Jupiter in Leo for the next 11 months. Going back years, there have hardly been any slow-moving planets visiting your sign (Saturn was the most recent one, and that was between 2005 and 2007). You now no longer need to feel like you must make something from nothing. You now have your own little solar system to play in, a planet 1,200 times the size of Earth, with 67 confirmed natural satellites. Jupiter is opening up a profound source of knowledge for you, though rather than being some form of abstract information, I mean direct wisdom. The idea is not to learn this wisdom but rather to become it. This may seem like a stretch for you, but this is the specialty of Jupiter — to broaden your horizons, to widen your mind and to open up a field of potential that you never knew existed. But this is more than wide; there is depth and a concentrated flow of energy revealed by the aspect pattern that Jupiter is making. That is depth you can access, and energy that will flow directly to you. There is no skill you cannot learn or apply. There is no problem you cannot solve. It is essential that you remain open and as free from negative thought patterns as you can.

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — At this time in your life, some of the most important soul-level work you can do involves sexual healing. This process has been in progress for about six years, since Pluto entered Capricorn, your solar 5th house. Pluto describes what one author famously called “the evolutionary journey of the soul.” Normally the 5th is the place we seek fun and pleasure, though you have Capricorn in this house, which can act as a reservoir of past conditioning. It can store up shame and guilt from past generations. And Pluto is now opening the barriers that contain those fossilized emotions, all in the interest of setting you free. As this happens, it’s essential that you remain aware of what your body is feeling. You may be tempted to take the process to the mental or abstract level. You may be tempted to go to the astral or fantasy level. I suggest you stay grounded, as in bare feet on the ground. It’s essential that you take risks, especially some that you’re the most averse to. More significantly, it’s time to go past the expectations of purity that you think others have of you. Most of these are in your own mind, and they tend to create aversions to both risks and to pleasure. To open pathways to relating, creating and feeling good about yourself, this is where to invest.

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Focus less on appearances and more on saying what you really mean. You might even consider forgetting appearances entirely and investing everything into speaking, and living, your truth. I normally would not cast this in such polarized terms, though these two concepts are often mutually exclusive. Appearances are usually designed to conceal the truth. You have a choice to make, though it may not be so starkly clear now as it’s likely to be around the time of your birthday. The decision involves not just whether you want to live with a veil thrown over your reality, and therefore isolated from others, but also why you would want to do so. You are more transparent than you think, and it would support your concept of integrity to be seen and known for who you are. This is for you, not for anyone else. One happy result will be you’ll have more energy to invest in what you love the most dearly. Yet there is something deeper at play here, which is your need to have an open conduit of communication with others, one that is based on actual vulnerability. I recognize how scary this is, especially in our moment of social history when the climate is chilled to below freezing. Others may think this works fine for them; you need warmth, contact and most of all, honesty.

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — It’s possible to be motivated by both ideals and money, but don’t confuse one for the other. It’s possible to take profits gained through more conventional motives and invest them in what you consider socially relevant, though this usually requires a level of care and discipline that most people only ever dream about. You might ask what gets in the way of translating what you think of as materialistic into what you hold as spiritual — that is, what values, or what conflicting desires. I suggest you check in with whether you hold back when it comes to your own stated commitment to make the world a better place. Are you concerned that it’s futile, or that it will take too long to make a difference? It may be true that you’re doing everything in your power to stretch beyond your limits and make a positive contribution, but only you can know that for sure. Be aware that a deeper level of motivation is starting to wake up and make itself known. It’s a kind of calling that can only be answered by taking action — not in the future, but right now. Here is the catch: right now has to last a long time, because only sustained action gets results. For that to happen, you really have to be in harmony with yourself and with your deepest motives.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — All this energy you’re feeling is not just coming from you. Some of it is; your brain and body are running hot. You definitely burn food into calories that fuel your nerves and muscles. Yet you’re also tuning into other sources of power and strength, which you might think of as coming from beyond you, or from some aspect of yourself as yet unacknowledged or undiscovered. I suggest you leave that particular theme an open issue, and observe the ways in which you’re inspired, motivated and guided to action. Notice what forces conspire to assist you. Observe whether plans you made long ago are gradually coming to fulfillment. This may have the effect of getting you to consider what you want in the future, not on the basis of whether you think it can be attained but rather whether you think it is the right thing for you. What’s most exciting is how the concept of ‘right for you’ is merging with the notion of ‘right for the world’. One thing our entire society struggles with is the problem of separate and competing interests. If a higher power or superior intelligence is helping guide and coordinate your life, one of the first places you’ll be taken is where there’s efficiency, and where your personal efforts support, and are supported by, the efforts of others.

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Laced throughout the literature of spiritualism and occultism is the notion of religion as a kind of science. The idea holds that there’s a true religion, or that if religion is practiced truly, there will actually be a result. This may not manifest for you so overtly, though it may show up as a devotion to purity, to sacrifice, or to the notion that faith must in some way make sense. You’re a more organic person than this. Yes, I see the appeal of the idea, because the human psyche can be chaotic, and you are in an extended phase that often seems to carry the message grow or die. That is not neat or tidy, though I suggest you not succumb to the idea that your growth somehow depends upon your becoming a perfect person, or living your life perfectly. What you can have, and have plenty of, is faith in yourself. The beauty of faith is that it’s not dependent upon any precursor; there is no test you must take in advance. It’s just somewhere you allow your mind to go. You know you’re there because you have less to worry about, rather than more. You know you’re there when your intellect relaxes a bit and accurate information starts coming back to you. You know you’re there when you feel more confident but you don’t necessarily understand why.

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Mother — the enigma, the force of nature, the essential thing to leave behind. By leave behind, I mean various things, such as ‘not allow to run your life’ and ‘resolve the issues that you inherited from her and her mother’. I also mean the role of mother, when that role is more or less finished, or when it’s ready to transform. Yet here is what really needs to transform for our whole society — the family as the authoritarian mini-state, borrowing from the words of a great 20th century philosopher. If we want any scant possibility to live on some shared level ground with one another, or to explore any collective form of leadership, we must go beyond the model of absolute authority that is then internalized into perpetual inhibition and approval-seeking. Father plays a role in this, though in our generations that more often involves being absent or only partially present than it does the former ‘father knows best’ model of family. This can still manifest as the disembodied, nagging conscience — what another philosopher called the superego. You need order in your life. Anarchy will not suffice. But neither will the absolute rule of law, emotional or otherwise. The thing to remember is that personal autonomy requires maturity and an evolved sense of responsibility, though one that does not demand answering to someone else.

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Set out to do your very best work this month — that which you’ve always wanted or needed to do; that which you could not accomplish before; what you have considered improbable or impossible. A rare connection between Chiron in your sign and Jupiter in Leo (among other planets) is opening up a conduit that could grant what seems like miraculous powers of creativity and achievement. Yet because Chiron and Jupiter are the main players, and since this is astrology we’re talking about, the process is not automatic. You must bring your intentions, your energy and your ideas. You must bring yourself to the work every day, and resume as soon as you can if you must skip a day or two. The effort factor is what will be reduced or made more efficient, and rewarded by a tangible sense of progress. Yet I suggest you not look back — look forward and work steadily. Focus your goals one at a time, and keep your sense of perspective. By that I mean work with a meta-goal and notice how your individual projects relate to one another. There is a pattern that will start to emerge, and the pieces of the plan will begin to fit together. You may feel like you’re bringing in knowledge or wisdom from somewhere else, and there’s no harm acting as if that’s true.
