Moonshine Horoscopes — Pisces New Moon Edition

In today’s Moonshine horoscopes, Genevieve Hathaway — our southern-hemisphere correspondent — has interpreted the Pisces New Moon for each of the 12 Moon signs. The Pisces New Moon occurs at 3:51 pm EDT on Monday, March 11.

Planet Waves

Every New Moon is a conjunction of the Sun and Moon. In this case, it is occurring in Pisces, which has been busier than Grand Central Station at rush hour with all the planets moving through in recent weeks. At the moment of the New Moon, Pisces will still be hosting Neptune and Chiron (which are there for the long haul), retrograde Mercury, Venus, the Sun, the Moon and Mars (which will have less than half a degree to go before it enters Aries, the sign it rules). That’s a heck of a lot of Pisces power being channeled through this event, and it makes for a very fertile and creatively rich beginning to this lunar cycle — which, in turn, leads directly to the Aries equinox in just over two weeks. The equinox is the official start of a new astrological year, but before we get there, you have time to dive deeper in this Piscean pool.

The waters are rich in nutrients, and Venus is conjunct this New Moon in the sign of its exaltation, or highest expression. That’s setting our love receptors to a pretty high frequency, if we’re open to hearing and feeling it, letting it in and expressing it back.

Minor planets in Gemini and Sagittarius are making squares from opposite sides of the Pisces New Moon, making a T-square formation. This indicates some kind of internal tension asking us to take some action to work it out — but the leverage point seems to be whatever creative solutions all those Pisces planets are conspiring to provide.

In Monday’s Daily Astrology feature on the Planet Waves blog, Eric wrote about retrograde Mercury’s conjunction to the Sun in Pisces: a moment of possible revelations about yourself and potential leverage for expressing yourself.

He also explores Venus and Chiron in Pisces (exact today), a highly sensitive moment about biophilia — connecting with nature and with each other, and connecting sex with love.

I’ve continued the theme in today’s Daily Astrology post, which extends our experience of biophilia to the conjunction of retrograde Mercury with Venus. Exact tomorrow in Pisces, it brings the ability for intimate communication to our experience of intimate communion.

Moonshine Horoscope — Virgo Full Moon Edition

These horoscopes are based on your Moon sign and were written by Genevieve Hathaway (who is currently living in Australia). You may have noticed that we are now sending you the Moonshine horoscopes twice per month, for each New Moon and Full Moon.

Genevieve has written the Moonshine horoscopes in this issue based on the Virgo Full Moon, which is on Monday, Feb. 25 at 3:26 pm EST, interpreting the event for each of the 12 signs. A Full Moon happens when the Sun and Moon are in opposition — in this case, the Moon in Virgo opposite the Sun in Pisces. As of this publishing, the Moon is in Gemini, making aspects to planets in the mid-mutable signs. This puts a more mental spin on our emotional landscape, and may make the feeling of holding dual emotional stances or subconscious states more palpable. (For example, as the Moon makes contact with the Mars-Nessus conjunction in Aquarius, the values-based need to stand up to a group and the more superficial urge simply to fit in may feel equally present.)

The real focus for the Moon this week, however, is the Leo Full Moon on Saturday, Jan. 26. It’s exact at 11:38 pm EST and features the Sun in early Aquarius opposite the Moon in early Leo. This is the Sun in the sign opposite the sign it rules, and it presents a special kind of tension between our ego-consciousness (Sun) in groups (Aquarius) and our emotional body (the Moon) taking up the place of our usual ego-consciousness.

It’s been a week since I finished LISTEN, your 2013 annual readings. Each year it feels like I teach myself astrology from the beginning. I began this year in July, casting many charts per sign and gradually allowing the themes to percolate through.

As of this publishing, the Moon is in Pisces, having entered Monday night. It is an early waxing Moon, on its way to the first quarter in late Pisces at 12:19 am EST on Dec. 20. Pisces Moons tend to bring out emotional sensitivity and empathy, a sense of romance, creativity (especially in music and visual art), visionary tendencies and the mystical.

Although the Moon will be in Aries for the fabled Capricorn solstice of 2012, having a Pisces Moon for these days leading up to that momentous occasion is quite fitting. Consider it an invitation from your more intuitive side to get serious (or playful) about what you’d like to envision and put your energy toward in your life beyond Dec. 21, 2012.
