Dear Friend and Reader:
These horoscopes, written by our global correspondent Genevieve Hathaway (who is now in Australia), are based on your Moon sign. She has written them specifically about the Leo Full Moon on Saturday, interpreting it for each of the 12 signs.

To look up your Moon sign, enter your birth data into Serennu.com. It helps to have your birth time but it’s not necessary in most cases. I suggest you also read your Sun and rising signs.
As of this publishing, the Moon is in Gemini, making aspects to planets in the mid-mutable signs. This puts a more mental spin on our emotional landscape, and may make the feeling of holding dual emotional stances or subconscious states more palpable. (For example, as the Moon makes contact with the Mars-Nessus conjunction in Aquarius, the values-based need to stand up to a group and the more superficial urge simply to fit in may feel equally present.)
The real focus for the Moon this week, however, is the Leo Full Moon on Saturday, Jan. 26. It’s exact at 11:38 pm EST and features the Sun in early Aquarius opposite the Moon in early Leo. This is the Sun in the sign opposite the sign it rules, and it presents a special kind of tension between our ego-consciousness (Sun) in groups (Aquarius) and our emotional body (the Moon) taking up the place of our usual ego-consciousness.
Given that the Mars-Nessus conjunction mentioned above (and explored in Tuesday’s Daily Astrology feature on the blog) has to do with either going along with truly mean peer pressure or waking up to it and taking action, notice how you’re feeling as you interact with groups this week.
If you start feeling at odds with what your circle of people is doing, or you start to feel like your sense of self-authority is getting squeezed or feels threatened, get a little perspective on your situation. Chances are, it’s not actually life-or-death, despite how your ego feels about your standing up for what you want most, or know is right.
Moonshine Horoscope for Jan. 26th Leo Full Moon | By Genevieve Hathaway
Aries (March 20-April 19) — You are working the edge of a project, stretching out further into the unknown of what is possible. Crafting a project that pushes the boundaries of certainty involves both boldness and calculated risk-taking, two of your biggest assets. Continue proceeding with what you know is right even if others have doubts. Out on the edge is where innovation happens and discoveries are made. For many it’s an uncomfortable place to be; you in fact thrive in this environment. Stay grounded in your confidence; frequently tune into your intuition for clues on making small adjustments in your project’s trajectory. What you are creating has a component that will provide many people in your extended social network a blueprint for emotional healing. Your work is both valued by those closest to you, while also positively impacting a much larger audience. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Navigating early family dynamics required you to disconnect from the part of yourself that was at odds with your family of origin. Happening at such a young age, you lived for a long time without realizing an aspect of your authentic self had shut down. This month’s Leo Full Moon (Jan. 26) is bringing you into contact with this piece of yourself. Investigate gently and slowly the emotions and perspectives emerging into full consciousness. Like a desert traveler finding an oasis, it’s easy to get overwhelmed by something you haven’t experienced in a very long time. Slow and steady integration will let you smoothly meld the old aspect of yourself back into your internal framework. New attitudes and philosophies you discover will expand your perception of the possible modes of relating and approaches to relationships. Ultimately, you will gain new relationship structures that allow for your individuality to be fully supported and expressed. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Belief defines an idea or perspective that we judge to be accurate — a feeling that something is true. Emotional attachment to an idea, rather than rational facts, dictates the degree to which we believe or disbelieve something. I suggest you consider your own approach to belief in ideas. You are undergoing a process of re-orienting your relationship to belief. Start from a point of identifying thought patterns that are signs of fixed attachment. To gain the needed perspective, slip out and around the idea, viewing it from multiple perspectives. Gemini Moons are innately dualistic in nature — moving between emotion and detached observation effortlessly. Enough distance from an idea will let you check to see if it’s grounded in truth rather than emotional attachment. By testing each belief against objective reality, you will be able to choose consciously those ideas that have a strong foundation in accurate facts. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Emotions are often one of the least understood aspects of ourselves, which is odd when you consider that feelings are a direct connection to our soul or higher self. Many people ride the rollercoaster of their feelings without understanding the message those emotions are conveying, instead simply reacting to the sensations. For you, feelings are a tool to communicate and understand your inner guidance and authentic self. In fact, I propose that they are one of your strongest resources. Working with emotions consciously lets you understand yourself on a deeper level than most people reach. What at times may have seemed like over-sensitivity is in truth an asset. Many people are looking to you as an example of how to live in better relationship with their emotions, which in turn would bring them more in tune with their higher selves. Being a guide for those around you is a simple step — lead by example. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — This month’s Full Moon in your Moon sign (Jan. 26) is a personal call to push deep through the internal layers of your emotional framework, to analyze your concept of value. What does being valued by close partners look like to you? How do you express the value you place on yourself? I suggest you begin sorting out how you value yourself — in terms of honoring your needs, desires, emotions, time and boundaries. Meeting your own needs includes determining which needs are authentic to you and which ones come from family expectations. First treat yourself with respect, honoring your inherent worth. Others around you will take note of how you wish to be treated and follow your lead. Hold space for current partners to provide you with the support you seek — they will show up. Ultimately, this re-orientation on honoring your value will bring you much healing through establishing and maintaining healthy boundaries with yourself and others. – By Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Next week’s Full Moon is a good time to ask the questions: Are you physically healthy? What does physical wellbeing look like for you? One of your unconscious habits (what you do without really thinking about it) is to draw on your physical energy to fuel your emotional body. When considering your emotional health I propose you look closely at how you take care of yourself physically and note how you feel. Keep track of what you eat, how much water you drink, and how much fresh air you get. I suggest you also incorporate into healthy physical habits plenty of sex, whether with a partner or through solo self-pleasuring. As you proceed this month, use your Virgoan precision, astute observation and analysis. Test, observe and connect the dots between what you do and how you feel, and then make lasting changes to your structures, approach and routines. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Amongst any uncertainty, confusion or fear you may be feeling regarding your needs being met, let me make one point clear — you do have a place in this world and a tribe that will accept you for who you are. There is room in this world both for who you are and what you have to give back. I would caution against viewing any confusion or lack of security as a failure on your part. You’ve spent the past few years restructuring your wants and needs, which comes with the sensation of a deep, fundamental shift in who you are. As the remaining pieces of yourself solidify and reform, focus on accepting who you are and what is now true for you. The first person that needs to honor you and how you live your life is you. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Information may come to light regarding sexual or emotional patterns going back generations through your ancestral line. Whatever these patterns were, the whole family dynamic was influenced, and this may bubble to the surface in some way over the next week or two. If you’re trying to suss out the roots of the issue, look at your father’s side of the family. Consider how they related to one another, and the dynamic that the whole family group shared. Was emotional or physical violence tolerated? If so, how did that affect you? Check your dad’s side of the family, and his relationship to his father. This is not research for its own sake; there may be an opportunity here to bring the matter to a close, which would be a welcome development. There is work here to be done, but it’s work that will bring much in the way of healing and end the cycle of passed-on emotional pain.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Set aside extra time and space around this week’s Leo Full Moon (Saturday, Jan. 26) for conversations with a close partner. A number of points of potential conflict and miscommunication are still lingering from last year’s series of personal planet retrogrades. With Chiron in Pisces providing potential traction for healing, now is a good time to revisit any topics that need further clarification. But with Neptune in the neighborhood, you will have to make clarity a conscious goal, setting aside idealism. Proceed with the intent of growing closer rather than ‘winning’ the discussion and you’ll bring greater intimacy to the relationship. Remember that some things are more difficult for others to talk about than they are for you — give people space to find the words they need. Being able to share vulnerability and your journey of growth will teach you much about both yourself and the other person involved. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Life is, in essence, a blank slate each day, providing you the opportunity to continuously re-imagine how you meet others and the world. This requires some creativity, flexibility and experimentation. The key is to view each day with an open mind, rather than propagating a pattern of covering up the emotional support you desire from those around you. It may seem like for many lifetimes you’ve had to cover up who you are deep inside, but that is the past and you are creating your future one day at a time. I suggest you extend this idea as far as envisioning a different future that will be filled with people who support your emotional needs. You don’t need a vast number of people around you, just enough who can be emotional scaffolding for you to lean on when you need support. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Your emotional realm is currently a busy place, filled with complex emotions and deep, internal material percolating to the surface. Aquarius is one of the ‘airiest’ of the air signs — all about intellect, ideas and rationality. With your Moon situated here, emotions can feel a bit foreign to you, whereas ideas are what provide you a bridge to your soul or higher self. Emotions, though, can become ideas: as they settle in your internal landscape, information will crystallize into forms you can both easily interpret and re-shape into a variety of ideas. What forms over the next few weeks are bits of sexual wounding that have worked their way through the collective societal consciousness and into emotional fabric — then get expressed within you. As you work with this material in a conscious way, you’ll begin to extract its emotional toxicity, bringing you a potent moment of healing. – By Genevieve Hathaway
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Give yourself plenty of personal downtime during this week’s intense Leo Full Moon (Jan. 26). A lot of deep, powerful energy is filling the space of your unconscious. Psychic tension could manifest as a general feeling of unease without any easy way to pinpoint symptoms. These are signs to slow down your commitments and expend the powerful energy you’re experiencing into creative projects. A lot of fiery energy is filling your creative and psychic body; releasing some pressure through artistic projects will ease the stress on your system. Tune into what emotions and messages surface within you as you work on your artistic endeavors. As you craft, invent and experiment, your unconscious self is processing some deep wounds; let whatever emotions come up move through you and burn off. – By Genevieve Hathaway
