Mr. Trump, Meet Uranus Conjunct Eris

Dear Friend and Reader:

News out of the Trump administration has moved this week at the speed of Uranus multiplied by Eris in Aries — the light-speed of the internet. The current cascade of events, peaking yesterday with the naming of a special prosecutor to investigate the various Russia affairs, will likely lead to the end of Trump’s presidency.

That’s an accurate headline, from Thursday’s Daily News.

This cascade began over the weekend of May 6 and 7, when Mercury, slow and powerful after its recent retrograde, was ending its alignment with Uranus conjunct Eris.

The combination of Mercury, Uranus and Eris is a reminder that everything we see happening, and how it’s happening, is an effect of the internet. This effect is created by a nonstop onslaught of disembodied communication, and developments moving faster than anyone can keep track of or understand.

Trump, with his penchant for tweeting and his addiction to toxic chaos, is only amplifying that effect. But don’t mistake that for his being “internet savvy.” He’s actually a product of television, and his mind is stuck in a TV mentality.

Additionally, there’s been a restructuring, or perhaps de-structuring, of the underlying ground of reality; among other changes, this officious thing previously known as ‘the presidency’ no longer seems to exist. Like many of society’s institutions, from home mortgages to Hollywood, the presidency is being shredded into a slag heap. Whether this serves a positive purpose is a question worth asking.

That’s being described by the ongoing movement of Pluto through Capricorn, which has yet to have its most profound influences [see recent article on the U.S. Pluto return]. Over the next few years, into the early 2020s, Pluto will make a series of square aspects to Eris, which will combine the effects of Uranus square Pluto and Uranus conjunct Eris.

Let Your Body Talk — and Then Listen

We’re now in the last several days of solar Taurus. Fittingly, this week’s more prominent astrology is keeping some focus on the body; specifically, the role your body has in keeping you informed of the less tangible facets of your being — and your body’s ability to point you in the direction of healing and growth.

For instance, your solar plexus might heat up or feel ‘tingly’ or tight in certain types of interactions — such as when you’re giving up your power; or when you’re taking on someone else’s emotional baggage via guilt, self-criticism or the need for their approval.

Or consider chronically tight trapezius and neck muscles: while it might be due to bad posture at the computer, this could also manifest from a pattern of living someone else’s expectations and the tension that induces. Other examples abound, such as difficulty breathing or an upset stomach.

The Sun enters Gemini — a more mentally oriented sign — at the end of this week, on Saturday at 4:31 pm EDT (20:31 UTC). Gemini is the last sign of the current season. But before we get there, the Taurus Sun makes an auspicious and potentially very useful aspect to Chiron in Pisces.

Special Comment | Trump Fires FBI Chief Amidst Russia Investigation

Dear Friend and Reader:

Tuesday evening, Donald Trump unleashed yet another shit storm when he fired James Comey, the director of the FBI. The facts and particulars are extremely complicated, and are changing by the hour. But the bottom line is, this is what you get when you have a paranoid, narcissistic, borderline-personality person in a position of extreme power.

Comey’s seemingly ambiguous role in the U.S. political structure, and his loyalties, were difficult to pin down. But one thing is clear: Comey, as head of the nation’s top law-enforcement agency, was leading the investigation of the Trump campaign’s many ties to Russia. Just last week, he sought to expand that inquiry, and requested additional funding and resources.

It’s also obvious, given the astrology of the weekend (featuring Mercury conjunct Uranus, another peak of the recent Mercury retrograde), and the Full Moon on Wednesday afternoon, that he had a panic attack. Or as the Daily News put it succinctly on Thursday, he threw a “Trumper tantrum.” Comey was scheduled to testify about Russia before Congress on Thursday, and the reports about Russia seem to be coming out in a steady, nonstop trickle that indicates the existence of a well.

Lacking any real political will from Congress, Comey was the one person who was an actual threat to Trump’s power. Trump, acting as if he was on his reality TV show, gave him the big “You’re Fired!” However, he can still be called to testify about exactly what he knew.
