Everybody Can See

Everybody with serviceable eyesight can see the Sun, weather permitting. The same is true for the Moon during the days approaching and achieving its fullness. Those are two important fundamentals for human beings to remember at this particular time on planet Earth.

len-wallick-logo

So happens we are now in the days approaching the Capricorn Full Moon, which will take place this coming Tuesday, July 19. From now until then the illuminated portion of the Moon will be growing in size, until Luna is as fully lit as it can be.

In addition to “waxing” into fullness over the next handful of days the Moon will be visible during the early evening hours when most people are still awake. That’s how it works coming up to a Full Moon.

What the Sun and Moon are doing right now is something everybody can see so long as clouds don’t get in the way. The same cannot always be said for even the brightest planets. Even Venus, which is the only celestial object besides the Sun and Moon to shine bright enough to cast a shadow, can sometimes be elusive. Other planets are even less bright, and even more subject to being obscured by the lights and buildings of the cities in which so many of us dwell.

Fortunately, using the Sun and Moon alone we can at least infer a good deal of what is going on with the astrology. That’s especially true for the impending Full Moon, which will take place in the 28th degree of Capricorn shortly before 7 pm EDT (22:56:31 UTC) on Tuesday. That’s because the 28th degree of Capricorn is where Mars is exalted.

As Eric put it in the Planet Waves weekly edition yesterday, Mars is at “center stage” from its current position in Scorpio for astrologers right now.

Unfortunately, everybody can see how the front and center presence of Mars in our current astrology is now predominantly being expressed on Earth. The recent series of tragically violent events all over the world can fairly be correlated with the less fortunate downside of Mars. Yet, that’s not all there is to how Mars manifests in actual practice. There are in fact two sides to astrology’s Martian story.

Ancient astrologers divided up celestial objects into good guys (“malefics”) and bad guys (“benefics”). Beginning in the 20th Century, astrologers like the late, great Al Morrison challenged that antiquated prejudice based on how things actually work out in the world. Now, most modern astrologers agree with the greatest living astrologer, Robert Hand. In the October/November 2014 edition of The Mountain Astrologer Mr. Hand flatly declared that “There are no benefics and no malefics.” Instead, astrologers now interpret planets to be consistent with what everybody can see.

Based on actual practice, everybody can see that every planet, every sign and every aspect has both an upside and a downside. The question of which side is expressing at any given time is usually resolved by context — where one object, sign and/or aspect fits into the whole. That holistic way of looking at things will provide both a useful and hopeful framework in which the implication of next Tuesday’s Full Moon can be understood.

One way in which anybody can understand the world is that things often go as far in one direction as they can before they must swing the other way. That’s obviously true of many natural phenomena, such as the seasons. It’s also a pattern that tends to evince in both large and personal scale human events. Astrology is no exception either.

The Moon, as it goes through its phases, is yet another example of moving from one extreme to the other that everybody can see. Indeed, one common way of interpreting a Full Moon is as a culmination after which Luna can only subsequently wane. Therein is reason for you to believe that you can act and make a difference to turn things around in concert with the skies.

Planets do not simply express from where they are in the sky or on the zodiac. Mars, for example, can be found to manifest from the signs it rules (Aries and Scorpio) and where it is exalted (Capricorn) at any given time, even if it is moving elsewhere.

A Full Moon precisely in the exaltation degree of Mars (which does not happen very often) implies that the violent downside of the red planet has gone as far as it can go before it must turn back and begin manifesting in more life-affirming ways. Given the importance of context, however, a fortunate outcome is not certain. A turnaround must be made to happen. That, as always, is where you come in.

That’s because astrology is not a spectator sport. You are part of the holistic context in which astrology plays out. It’s up to you to manifest the potential of next Tuesday’s Full Moon. Fortunately, you or anybody can see how to do it.

In a phrase, eschew violence. Act without violent means. Speak without violent expressions. Advocate for love, and against war. Be an example for others to do the same. Indeed, in the U.S. at this time you can commit the equivalent of a revolutionary act by simply not owing a gun. You don’t have to take it upon yourself to change the world. You don’t have to do the impossible. You simply have to do your part by not bringing any additional violence into the world.

If there is anything to what next Tuesday’s Capricorn Full Moon is telling us, the best time to do your part is now. Everybody can see that there has never been a more appropriate time to become an advocate for love and peace.

Full Moon Moonshine Horoscope for July 14, 2016

Full Moon Moonshine Horoscope for July 14, 2016, #1108 | By Len Wallick
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Act on your highest aspirations and you will most likely be on the right track. If you can do so without resorting to impulsive action and without procrastinating, all the better. In order to have the tides of life in your favor at this time you will first need to be clear about what you want. Once you have that clarity, the rest will be a matter of intent, focus and continuous effort. If you have already been in continuous and consciously defined action for the last two years or so, you should now be near successful culmination. If such a pinnacle does not seem to be at hand, worry not. You still have time to get there. Eschew fantasy. Be fantastic. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Practicing moderation does not mean that you have to inhibit yourself. There is nothing you can do that can’t be done. Indications are you can now do or be what you’ve never done or been before so long as it’s realistic. For example, there is no reason to believe you cannot go anywhere in the world from where you are now. At the same time, it would not be realistic to get there by flapping your arms. Get the idea? You are now primed to break with precedent and go beyond limits dictated by previous experience. If you are in doubt about what is in fact possible, find out by having a go at any aspirations you hold before you even think about giving up. Push against stagnation and act boldly to expand your horizons. At the same time, however, keep one foot in touch with the ground to facilitate coming back to Earth safely as you grow. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Time flies, and in today’s light-speed world it’s easy to miss a trick or two; plus, sometimes we all need to slow down a little. For that reason, look to get ahead of schedule as much as possible over the next four weeks. Think of yourself as now having the chance to build some momentum that will make it a lot easier to get over the next hill, and the number of steps forward will continue to exceed any steps you might have to take back. In addition, you might want to consider the advantages of not flying solo. Many hands make shorter and lighter work. Either look to become part of a team or recruit one. Even a team of two will work better than one. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Resist the urge to slip into the role of either parent or child with other adults, and your life will be a lot easier. Be helpful, even charitable; but take full responsibility only for that which is yours to take care of. Welcome support, but be confident enough not to require approval. Be open to participation and sharing, but have your own places to go, and your own things to do at least half the time. Of course, you can’t realistically control or change anybody else but you. By the same token you should not indulge or expect others to change or control you. Finally, endeavor to love and be loved without feeling the need to prove yourself right, or anybody else wrong. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

How Are You Feeling, Leo?

“Your reports are always so comprehensive and illuminating. Thank you for your wisdom and insight.”— Rochelle Leal

Dear Leo: Your fellow fire signs have been hot with activity, stoking your own inner flames by association. What kind of steam will you make when the Sun enters your sign next week and encounters the Moon in Pisces? More importantly, how do you feel about your life and its direction this year?

In two audio sections of at least 30 minutes each plus a video summary and tarot reading (so you can watch Eric place the cards), Eric will cover some of the most productive ways you can open up to your life and get it working better for you. Whether you feel like you’re looking for courage in the Land of Oz or you’re ready to roar onto the scene with a full heart, your 2016-17 Leo Birthday Reading is not to be missed.

You can pre-order your reading here for the discounted price of $19.97. After July 22, the price will increase.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Giving and receiving are not two different things. They are in fact two facets of the same thing. If you have been exclusively on one side or the other for a long time, now would be a good time to allow for some balance. Because of your leonine heart, it’s probable that you have been far more in the role of the giver for as far back as memory can reliably serve. If that’s the case for you, it’s likely that some reciprocal gifts from the grateful will soon be coming your way. Simply be gracious in accepting those tributes and tidings, and the experience will be more than gratifying — it will be genuinely and authentically life-changing. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Common sayings are common for a reason — including the one about “all work and no play.” Even though you are probably facing some serious responsibilities right now, please consider how far a little regularly scheduled recreation can go to re-create the edge you need when it comes to meeting your obligations. You know you can trust yourself not to be frivolous. Even more to the point, however, you know yourself well enough not to try and live on food, water, sleep and work alone. Finally, you know that you’re unlikely to overdo most of the activities that truly excite, inspire and stimulate you. So, give yourself some regular breaks, and in the process, you will find yourself. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — If it’s not broke, don’t fix it. That’s especially the case regarding where you reside. If your home environment and cohabitants (if any) are providing what you need from them, consider how any itch to make changes may very well have to do with something else, somewhere else. Therefore, don’t be rash. Find the source of your rash first instead. If the origin of any discomfort in your life does indeed prove to be outside of your home, you can avoid potentially making things worse by not taking it home with you. Rather, protect your private sanctuary by taking any negotiations for relief to where it will do the most good. That way, what’s already good will be more likely to stay that way. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — It’s very likely that you currently have a firm grasp and clear understanding of everything that is familiar to you. That’s good, but it would not be so good to think you are an authority regarding lives or circumstances other than your own. Therefore endeavor to be open. Strive to have an open mind defined by a continuous acknowledgement that you can always stand to learn something more. Maintain an open heart, which can sustain feelings of compassion for those you cannot bring yourself to empathize with. Finally, do yourself the vital service of keeping the doors and windows of your perception open to welcome in anything and everything you don’t already know. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Time for some imagination. Specifically, experiment with imagining yourself without a favorite possession. First, picture what, if any, adjustments you would have to make to survive without it. Next, envision what it would take to be happy without it. Then, fantasize a scenario wherein you would actually be grateful to be free of it. Go through the same mental process one step at a time regarding each material object you identify with most deeply, and then finally in combination. The idea is not to impoverish yourself. Rather, the idea behind this mental exercise is to ultimately define yourself as somebody who’s more than what you own. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — One difference between pure sport and actual capitalism is the attitude towards competition. For a capitalist, competition is a nuisance to be acquired, undermined or just avoided. In sports, however, a worthy competitor has value as a means by which to measure improvement and achievement. In an astrological sense, the best way for you to approach this coming week is as a sportsperson. Every challenge you may face should be welcomed, and something to be grateful for. That’s because you are at a point in your life when you will almost certainly prevail over what, in the past, has either intimidated or defeated you. Congratulations, you’ve come a long way. Life is now yours to win. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Michelangelo did not so much see himself as a great artist creating his famous sculptures. Rather, he perceived himself more humbly, as a craftsman who removed the stone from around a specific figure that already resided within a given block of marble. In a very real way, you would do well to emulate Michelangelo at this time in your life. First, you must acknowledge that a masterpiece already exists within you. Then you will need to envision its form precisely. Finally, you must do the work. In all probability the labor will be significant and take some time. The likely result of your efforts, however, will be an enduring symbol of just how beautiful your humanity really is. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — In a gift economy there is no buying and selling. With the exception of freedom from money, however, neither is anything free. A gift economy demands that each participant bring their best and give it away, trusting all others participating to do the same. The ideal result is prosperity in common. The objective is to realize the true nature of equality and an actual experience of authentic freedom. To participate in such a seemingly Utopian scenario, you must first have enough faith in other people to believe that it is a practical possibility. Then, you must find a way to have an equal amount of faith in yourself. Now is the time to begin with you. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Follow Your Heart

We live in times that test our capacities. Our physical capacities are tried by a physical environment different from that in which our species has spent most of its history. Our mental faculties are likewise subjected to an intellectual climate defined by information overload.

len-wallick-logo

From a spiritual perspective, even just the basic facts of modern life are enough to challenge the strongest aptitude for belief. Finally, and perhaps most of all, current events are proving to be an emotional test for anybody paying attention.

Yet, if there is one proficiency that distinguishes nearly any individual human, it is the ability to endure. Your expected lifespan exceeds that of most animals. Time and time again you have demonstrated amazing resiliency.

While there may be no scientific explanation of your abilities to persevere in a functional way, you probably know the answer. It’s heart. Both in terms of the muscle that circulates your blood, and in a metaphorical sense, the heart that gets you through. Consider the final testimony of the late, great Muhammad Ali.

In his final moments, Ali’s organs failed one by one. Yet his heart kept beating. To the astonishment of loved ones who were there to witness his transition out of this mortal coil, Ali delivered one final demonstration of his greatness — and your own. Nearly half an hour after his mind and body had otherwise shut down, he sent a message from his heart to yours.

That message is to follow your heart. No matter what your mind may tell you, at least listen to your heart as well. No matter how you choose to believe, only your heart can vindicate your faith. No matter what you set out to do through the means of physical body, unless your heart is in it, it won’t get done. Of all the things you trust, you know that your heart is the most reliable.

Those who distinguish the bodily energy centers called chakras discern that the heart is the center of them all. It is the place where earth and sky come together. It is where all other complementary principles and phenomena are reconciled.

Similarly, astrology’s zodiac may also be said to have a heart. It is the cusp where the single sign ruled by the Moon (Cancer) and the solitary sign ruled by the Sun (Leo) come together. Late tomorrow (or early Thursday, depending on your time zone), Mercury will cross that cusp.

Among its many earthly correlations, versatile Mercury corresponds to the mind, thoughts and intellect. In other words, capacities of your brain. It is customary to assume that the brain is the boss. As a matter of fact, that assumption goes so deep as to be almost (and ironically) unconscious. Yet, as Muhammad Ali proved after losing consciousness, the heart — and all it is associated with — can and does go on even when the mind does not.

Interestingly, the planet perhaps most associated with the heart’s highest capacities has led the way. When Mercury enters Leo tomorrow, it will be following Venus. For the time being, at least, the planet most properly associated with the heart’s ability to love is out in front of Mercury. It is not an example to be ignored.

During these times when your capacities are being put to the test, you could do a lot worse than to follow the example Mercury and Venus are now setting. For the time being, at least, let your heart and its capacity to love lead the way for you. To be sure, it would be wise to follow up with some sound and consciously aware thinking. For, just as Mercury and Venus are but parts of a larger system, so are your heart and mind.

For the sake of your own system, however, rely on your heart. At least until Mercury catches up to conjoin with (and then pass) Venus this weekend, depend on your strongest part — your heart — to get you through any confusion, any challenge, any trial. If there is indeed any harmony between what’s above and what’s down here below, you won’t be sorry for letting your heart lead the way for now.

A Light After Dark

There is a light. Not at the end of a long, dark tunnel (though recent events may make it seem as though we are in one). Rather, there a light on the horizon. Some have already seen it. It is a light in the western sky after sunset and it’s just in time.

len-wallick-logo

Venus is wrapping up a tenure of just over three weeks in Cancer (since June 17), and it enters Leo on Monday. It is also re-appearing as a light after dark. Reports have been received. Photos have been taken. Venus is back.

As is so often the case with astrology, there is an astounding serendipity in the re-appearance of Venus. After more than three long months of being out of sight as it traveled on the other side of the Sun, Venus has timed its return to visibility just as it is moving across the cusp separating the sign ruled by the Moon (Cancer) and the sign ruled by the Sun (Leo).

With each passing twilight, the sight will become more clear. That’s because Venus is moving relatively fast right now, gradually widening its separation from the Sun. You will see it as Venus showing up a little higher in the sky as one evening follows another into our still-new season.

Astrologically, you might say that Venus is currently functioning as both a leader and as an inspiration. Like a pioneer, Venus led the Sun and Mercury into Cancer as if to show the way into a new season of life on Earth. Now, like a torch bearer, it is pushing back against the night. This is not meaningless symbolism, either. Other than the Sun and Moon, Venus is the only celestial object bright enough to both cast and dispel shadows.

Like all things in astrology, the impending traversal of Leo by Venus has two complementary potentials. There is a shadow side, so to speak.

If you are careless in how you carry Venus into the world, it can express as an inappropriate sense of entitlement. It is also very possible for ‘bling’ to become a cause, when other, more selfless causes need you to lean in — together with others — to further a common good.

Rather than deny it, put the shadow side of Venus to work. There is no reason to go without makeup. There is no need to hide your jewelry. Instead, allow adornment to become something more than an end in itself. Let artful enhancements be just one of many means by which you further the cause of love.

For in the words of Robert Hand, “In its highest manifestation, Venus is love.” That, as usual, is where you come in.

While you may not have consciously chosen to live in such trying times, it is for you to choose how to live in them. It is thus for you to lead Venus, just as Venus is leading the planets around the zodiac and into what will be a great gathering of planetary lights in the western half sky later this year.

It is nothing new to say that love is the answer. Even so, the message continuously needs renewing.

Let Venus, the goddess of love, inspire you. Let it lead you into leadership. Rise up, so as to be better seen. Give love a chance to win, and it will.

Cooperation and Conflict

If the course of human events had any lessons for us over the last several days, they would have to do with cooperation and conflict. Cooperation brought elation and success. Conflict brought sorrow and setbacks. It might be wise to keep both sets of lessons in mind so as to better see what you should do.

len-wallick-logo

Perhaps the most outstanding example of cooperation came hours after yesterday’s New Moon in the sign Cancer. Yesterday night (or very early this morning, depending on where you live) a long collaborative effort culminated in the insertion of a spacecraft called Juno into orbit around Jupiter.

It was encouraging to witness the celebration of those working on the Juno project, as telemetry indicated the successful completion of their mission’s first phase. It was no small thing to overcome unprecedented difficulties and uncounted unknowns to reach that point.

Here on Earth, however, the days leading up to yesterday’s New Moon provided ample reason for sobriety. First in Bangladesh, then in Iraq, and finally in Saudi Arabia violence intruded where people very much like you and me were preparing to observe some celebration of their own.

Adherents of Islamic religions have been fasting from sunrise to sundown since their holy month of Ramadan started back on June 7. It is no small thing either. It is a test of faith that will finally end on July 7 with the celebratory feasts of Eid al-Fitir.

Ideally, the days leading up to the festival of breaking the fast are marked by an anticipation of joy, reward, relief and return to a less physically demanding daily routine. It seems especially senseless to intrude with indiscriminate violence at such a time. Even those of us who do not participate in Ramadan are compelled to recognize that no good can come from such conflict, and feel compassion for those who will now be impelled to mourn rather than rejoice.

Today, as the Moon moves on to Leo, we are all obliged to move on as well. The Independence Day weekend in the U.S. is over. In America, as in much of the world, another working day is upon us. Neither will the occasion of Eid al-Fitir wait. Yet all of us, regardless of nationality or belief, might well find reason in the skies to do something besides simply go on with life as it has been. If there is anything to what anybody can see by simply looking up, there is reason for each of us to do something to increase the peace.

With its ingress to Leo, the Moon will return to visibility as a thin crescent in the West just after sundown. That’s a very auspicious sign for those of Islamic belief. For astrologers, at least, a fire trine from the Leo Moon to Saturn in Sagittarius will suggest sobriety at least, and sympathy at best. In addition, the promise implied by a waxing Moon will be reinforced by the three prominent sign rulers it is leaving behind.

The Sun, Mercury and Venus remain in Cancer, even as the Moon moves on. Over the next few days, those three objects will, in emblematic effect, be reaching out to the rest of the solar system.

Indeed, the process has already started. With thoughtful Mercury’s brief but auspicious water trine to imaginative Neptune in Pisces earlier today, you might have noticed how even a little good news (from the Juno spacecraft or otherwise) can function to encourage you even if there is no immediate or tangible effect on your life.

Tomorrow, affectionate Venus will follow the lead of both Mercury and the Moon. With a water trine of its own to Mars in Scorpio, Venus will be reminding us that cooperation is easier than conflict. In addition, with its own return to visibility in the twilight, Venus will shine with a palpable indication that things can and do get better. All it takes is just a little help from (and for) your friends.

Finally, through the remainder of the week it is as if the entire crew in Cancer will be pulling their oars together. Venus will move on and reach out to Eris and Uranus in Aries, as well as Chiron in Pisces. The Sun and Mercury will conjoin and extend in union to Pluto in Capricorn and Jupiter in Virgo. Of course, the most important oar will be yours to pull.

It will be in your everyday life this week that a difference will be made, and it will not be rocket science to get it done. It will be as easy as cooperating whenever possible. It will be as simple as refraining from unnecessary conflict. While you will almost certainly be required to challenge yourself upon occasion, there should be nothing about your part in increasing the peace that you cannot bring yourself to do.

There has been enough of sorrow and setbacks. There is a great need for elation, however muted. We could all use some success, however small. Look to be like the Moon. Move on and show up. Try to be like the Sun, Mercury and Venus. Reach out. None of us are without injury, but to be healed we must finally come around and realize that we are all we’ve got.

A New Month

It’s a new month. The Mars retrograde of 2016 is over, although Mars remains in the same degree of Scorpio where it turned around on Wednesday. On Monday, we will have a New Moon in the sign Cancer on the anniversary on the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Any fireworks displays you see Monday night will thus take place in a moonless sky.

len-wallick-logo

Also on Monday, a robotic spacecraft called Juno will, if all goes as planned, begin a long orbital errand around Jupiter (which has about two and a half months left in Virgo). The purpose of Juno’s mission will be to give the people of Earth a greater understanding of the largest planet in our solar system.

The fact that a new page on the calendar, a new lunar cycle, a new space mission and a new year beginning for the U.S. are all basically taking place as Mars resumes direct motion gives you reason to think about a fresh start. There is meaning in that. After all, before anything can be achieved, it must first be conceived.

Of course, a reason to conceive does not stand much chance of manifestation without belief. That’s where you come in. What’s perceived in the skies above has at least one thing in common with what is experienced on Earth below. That common thread goes through you. Whether one is addressing deities, planetary correlations or the course of human events, your belief (or lack thereof) has a big influence. Perhaps even more important is whether and how you act.

Action makes things real. Unless you act, everything inside your head stays there. In your hands is the power to transform conceptions into achievements. Of course one person alone does not usually amount to much in a big world, but that’s where things must begin.

What has been proven to amount to something in the world is human beings acting together. To cooperation we owe our very existence. Through communal action the world has been changed, and will continue to be changed, for better or worse. That’s how you come in again.

The single greatest factor determining whether group action makes the world better or worse is the conscience of the individuals who make up the group. It may be true that you are born with a intuitive sense of right and wrong, and even a concern for the greater good. Even so, it is also self-evident that teaching and learning play a role in determining whether and how people participate in society.

It is not only individual and collective actions taken, but also the examples you and the rest of us set that contribute to turn the wheels of history and determine what will happen next. If the civil calendar, celestial cycles, history and ongoing group achievements are any indication, a whole heaping handful of wheels are now going around to come around at once.

That’s how you might want to consider the next several days to be a special time. There is meaning implied in what is happening now. More to the point, however, there is meaning to be conferred. By you. By us. Upon the Earth, even as it is in the heavens.

May your holiday weekend be safe and fulfilling.

New Moon Moonshine Horoscope for June 30, 2016

New Moon Moonshine Horoscope for June 30, 2016, #1106 | by Len Wallick
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — As always, your greatest asset is your self-confidence. Remember that one constant, and any winds of change you might encounter will only serve to lift you up and propel you forward. Speaking of changes, you may want to consider making some of your own. Specifically, the universe appears to be offering you the dual gifts of ample room to change your mind and sound reason for a change of heart. While the world may not always be fair, you can at least always be fair to yourself. Therefore, take everything that comes with the next month or two as fuel for your fire and grist for your mill. There is no obligation for you to be or live to the satisfaction of others if it means being dissatisfied with yourself. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Comfort is available to you. There is no disputing that. In fact, there are only two questions you need answer regarding the solace that seems to be accruing for you since the recent solstice. First, you should make it your business to determine what forms of ease or indulgence would best suit you. It should go without saying that you need to support, rather than undermine, your overall health in the pursuit of pleasure. Even so, it would do you no harm to constantly remind yourself that, first, you should do yourself no harm. The second question is where the best quality of respite and relief is to be found. At least initially, you probably need not look any farther than your own bed and bath. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Among the great forms of wisdom demonstrated by little babies is how to own. It’s a simple matter of taking things in hand and putting them into the mouth. While infants do indeed require adult supervision to assure their safety until they learn the necessary discretion about what to grasp for and what to eat, there is no question that kids are born with the right idea of how to participate in the world. Hence, you already have (and have always had) all that you now need to take your own part in the world to a new and more adult level. First, take possession of all that you have ever done or experienced. Then, get your mouth into the action — not to eat, but instead to declare who and what you are with justified pride. — by Len Wallick. Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — What the world most needs now is precisely what you presently have a superior ability to offer: love. Before you can deliver on the promise of being an emissary of love, however, you must first minister to yourself. Begin with your physical wellbeing. For the next couple months, take a little extra time each day to care for your body. Make a special effort to do what it takes so that it’s evident you feel comfortable and confident as you are. There is no need for you to go to great expense or adorn yourself in any way. You will simply want those beholding your countenance to be impressed by how well you take care of yourself. It is by making just such a favorable impression that you will convince others that you have love enough to care for them, and will be generous in giving it when and where your care is welcomed. — by Len Wallick. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Be as generous with yourself as you have been with others, and the weeks to come will be more rewarding. While it may indeed be time to acquire a few possessions you have been putting off, the most valuable gifts you can give yourself now would probably be experiences. Specifically, do what you can to get yourself out of your residence and workplace and into your local unexplored world. Look to take in whatever your community has to offer as regards to art and performance; the idea is to expand your sense of both home and self beyond familiar walls. As you avail yourself of your outer environs, keep your eyes open. Look for places you might want to return to — not just to take them in, but also to take part. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — If you have not already done so, consider bringing some additional people into your life. It is not so much that the friends and family you now have are not enough in either quantity or quality. It’s more about either desires or opportunities you might have to increase your power and extend your influence in the world. Therefore, be discerning. Make it your business to go beyond simply increasing your social circle. Rather, look to employ, recruit or otherwise enjoin specific others who can help you to address any needs you have that are not currently being met. On some level you probably already know what those needs are. If so, the next step is simply allowing yourself to have, hold and fulfill them. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Stopping to think may seem like a luxury for you right now. Nonetheless, if you can spare yourself even one day away from your busy schedule to do nothing but think in a leisurely and unstructured manner, you will almost certainly be able to address at least one necessity: catching up with yourself. Think of it as going out on a date with somebody you haven’t seen for a while. Start with an unhurried cup of coffee or tea at some quiet, intimate place. Follow your refreshment up with a slow, rambling walk in a park or pleasant neighborhood. Then seek some distraction, such as offered by a movie or museum. Finally, see yourself home safely, and go to bed early enough to dream long and well about that special person you just got to know again. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — One especially cogent aphorism repeated in many social contexts is that there is a time and place for everything. It’s a bit of conventional wisdom that seems to have been forgotten by many in our often-unconventional times. You, however, are among the few who have most likely retained a deep and abiding understanding of how nearly any given practice, behavior or activity can not only be permissible, but appropriate if the where and when are right. It’s not because you are old-fashioned, either. Indeed, it seems that time and culture have gone and come around to make you among the most modern of people precisely because you have the capacity to teach the rest of us how discretion, properly employed, serves to define — not confine — a life well lived. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — In all probability, you have recently had occasion to reflect on how much you and your life have changed since this time last year. If so, the most important thing is to appreciate those changes. It is likely that you now have a better idea than ever before of who you are. That alone is reason for gratitude. Your recently-acquired knowledge of self will, in turn, soon serve to provide the starting point for a new cycle in your personal evolution. For the time being, however, you have a few things to finish up and a lot more simply to enjoy. While some due diligence is still very much part of the order for your everyday, don’t let what you have to do dull your enjoyment when you get the chance to do as you please. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — It appears you have gotten better at making good choices as compared to just a few years ago. Assuming that’s true for you, the next thing you might want to work on to improve the quality of your life is making yourself more happy more often without resorting to bad choices. That’s especially the case when it comes to getting your intimate needs met in a relationship. When all is said and done, being alive is the necessary requisite to everything else; you should remember that good choices start with what keeps you among the living. Other than that, however, don’t make things too complicated. If you know what sort of relationship makes you happy, focus on making it happen. If you don’t know what would make you happy, focus on finding out. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You may have heard it said that you are what you eat. There is a great deal of truth to that statement. Yet, the fact remains that diet is not everything. Lots and lots of people manage to be good and kind, creative and beautiful in spite of habitually consuming mass quantities of donuts, candy, cola and such. Similarly, the world has seen a lot of cruel and offensive people who are that way in spite of very healthy eating habits. Ultimately, what comes out of your mouth is at least as important as what you put into it. While your good health does obviously rely on good nutrition, your food does not define you nearly as much as what you say and how you say it, along with what you do and how you do it. — by Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Are you having fun yet? Whether you know it or not, the Sun, Moon and planets recently have been moving to maximize the chances of making whatever forms of whoopee you like best. Whether you care or not, that trend will continue for at least a fortnight and possibly even two months more. If you want to get some good, healthy jollies in this year, now is the prime time to do it. This does not mean that the rest of the year will be dreary — other forms of felicity will soon be coming over the horizon for you. If, however, you do relish the opportunity to get out and get it on with frantic frivolity (especially in the company of a friend or friends similarly inclined) the next couple of weeks practically have your name on them. — by Len Wallick. Emulation and Precipitation

There’s an old saying that goes something like this: “One swallow does not a summer make.” That aphorism might be said to apply to the astrology right now. That’s because Mercury will enter the sign Cancer tomorrow, less than 15 minutes before retrograde Mars resumes direct motion in Scorpio.

len-wallick-logo

At its fastest, Mercury moves around the zodiac at a rate of more than two degrees per day. Hence, Mercury changing signs is neither rare nor unusual. Even so, tomorrow’s Mercury ingress is part of a recent trend to populate a core part of the zodiac which has long been fallow.

The adjoining signs Cancer and Leo might arguably be considered a core of the zodiac because of the objects they correlate with. Cancer is the only sign ruled by the Moon. Similarly, Leo is the Sun’s singular dominion.

When you get right down to it, the motions of and relationships between the luminaries (Sun and Moon) form the core of astrology. Both are very bright and familiar to anybody blessed with eyesight. When the Sun and Moon oppose for a Full Moon, they form the template for all astrological aspects, called an opposition. The same is true for how a New Moon (which takes place when the luminaries conjoin to share the same degree of the same sign, roughly once a month) defines all conjunctions. The examples go on and on.

It is thus undeniable that the Sun and Moon combine to constitute the framework upon which astrology is built. Whether one is speaking of aspects, ingresses or nearly any other form of celestial phenomena as perceived from Earth, it is fair to say that the so-called “lesser lights” (planets) are interpreted to be in emulation of the two greater lights (Sun and Moon). In a way, the same goes for the two signs ruled by luminaries.

On either side of Cancer and Leo on the zodiac wheel are Gemini and Virgo — both ruled by Mercury. Keep on going around in both directions and you come to Taurus and Libra — the two dominions of Venus. After that, you reach Aries and Scorpio, both originally ruled by Mars. Following come Sagittarius and Pisces, which correspond to Jupiter. Finally (on the other side of the zodiac from Cancer and Leo) you arrive at Capricorn and Aquarius, the classical domains of Saturn.

Continuing the theme of how the Sun and Moon are the essence of astrology, it is almost as if the layout of the zodiac itself blossoms like a flower from the emblematic bud formed by the two signs ruled by the luminaries. Interestingly, for the last nine months or so (until Venus led the way into Cancer 11 days ago), there were no sign-ruling planets other than the Moon traversing Cancer and Leo.

So, for an unusually long time there were no major aspects (other than lunar) from or within the most definitive section in the circle of signs. Recently that started to change, and rapidly. Following the Venusian ingress to Cancer on June 17, the Sun entered Cancer to precipitate a season-changing solstice on June 20. Tomorrow, Mercury will follow suit, making its own contribution to begin what might fairly be called a precipitous sequence re-populating the core of the zodiac.

Given the often-proven dictum “as above, so below,” it would thus not be surprising if we were to see some apparently precipitous events here on Earth during the current season. As Venus, the Sun and Mercury make their rapid way through Cancer and Leo during the weeks to come, you might note or experience some things which, by themselves, give the impression of being unprecedented or game-changing — long after Mars has left its retrograde period behind. If so, you would be well advised to take those things with the proverbial grain of salt.

Just as there is nothing new under the Sun, it is not advisable to take any earthly or astrological event by itself. It’s important to see the whole, and how all of its parts relate to one another. While the Sun and Moon (both in and of themselves, and also represented through activity in the signs Cancer and Leo) do count for a lot, nothing is everything.

In all probability, as our current season plays out over the next several months, what you will experience and observe will not represent anything truly new. It is more likely that any seemingly precipitous events coming up will only emulate a significant rainstorm after a long drought, functioning as part of a bigger picture and a longer cycle now moving towards balance once again.
