The Next Battle in a War on the People

Here is feast of solitude
A fiddler grim and tall
Plays to dancing kings and wives
Assembled in the hall
— R.H.

Dear Friend and Reader:

Once again, we’re being confronted with a mass casualty incident involving firearms. This is on the heels of every other kind of disaster, or the threat of one, in rapid sequence since the Aug. 21 eclipse. By now every American has heard the story: someone set up a position on the 32nd floor of a resort hotel in Las Vegas, and opened fire on a country music festival across the street. According to the police, and press reports, there were more than 500 casualties, including 59 dead.

Security checkpoint set up outside a Chanel store in Las Vegas after Sunday’s shooting. Now all hotels and casinos on the strip are screening everyone on the way in. This is the wave of the future. Security checkpoints, including sophisticated X-ray scans, will soon go from being many places to being everyplace. This will be a massive boon for the national security state and everyone in that business, dwarfing the expansion after 9/11. Photo by Melja Nanucci for Planet Waves.

Remember that nearly all of us are experiencing this through the internet, and at the same time, few are considering the impact of the internet on events and our perception of them. The internet influences the speed that the news travels, as well as its impact. The internet also means that videos of the crime and the crime scene were available almost instantly.

Straight away, as always happens these days, the “false flag” theories have come up: that is, ideas about how actual events fail to match up with the official story that’s being repeated with absolute unanimity by all media from Fox to The New York Times to MSNBC to Democracy Now!

They are all taking different positions on the gun issue itself, and perhaps asking different questions, though the core narrative is remarkably consistent no matter what the position of the outlet: a lone shooter, with no known motive, did this all by himself. (To be fair, Lawrence O’Donnell of MSNBC had one guest for about five minutes Monday night, who was present at the scene and who described his perception of multiple shooters.)

For anyone spreading fear, Las Vegas was the perfect setting for such an incident: it’s one of the unofficial capitals of the United States. Almost everyone has been there, and even if you hate the place you love the place. Everyone can relate. It’s pure Americana, as is country music. Between the internet and Las Vegas, it’s easy to write yourself into the story.

Ultimately, the idea of any false flag theory is that the government did it. There are many plausible versions of this. But we don’t need any theory or potential false flag operation to see that: this is about the true flag, the stars and stripes of the United States government. Our government allows, and encourages, people to possess weapons of war, where those weapons are used routinely on the people.

A Proxy War on the People

Another mass shooting chart with Pholus and Nessus in the angles — Nessus 10th, Pholus 7th. The new kind of war. I have two definitions of that.

One I’ve outlined in an article called “Here At the Edge of the World.” That will google up; in that context I mean a war in which the environment is the weapon. In this context, I mean a government that allows, and encourages, people to possess weapons of war, where those weapons are used routinely on the people. (This is similar because guns are part of our environment, by design.)

The effect is a proxy war on the people, on behalf of the people who arm the population, who then take “their own” guns and do its bidding (i.e., the killing itself). The purpose is the same as the purpose as any terrorism: to inflict shock and horror, and to keep the people in a helpless state. When you hear guys with guns talk about uprising and revolution, this is what they mean. It’s also essential to remember that the 2nd Amendment was a compromise with the south so that their slave patrols could be armed.

Note that this particular shooter was so well armed and at such a distinct strategic advantage that nobody could stop him. By the time SWAT teams (themselves pinned down by live fire) had located him and had blown up his hotel room door, he had already killed or injured more than 500 people and then had killed himself. No justice, no peace.

Note, you may share this post, or anything I post to social media.

Mirrors of Awareness: Conjunction and Opposition

Last week’s astrology was dominated by three unusual oppositions, or 180-degree meetings, between the planets — Mercury opposite Chiron, Mars opposite Neptune and Jupiter opposite Uranus. And, suitably, it was quite a week of contention and controversy; though lately that hardly seems to let up for a moment. If you had any breakthroughs, or made any important discoveries, remember them well, so they don’t get lost in the swirl of your life.

venus-mars

Venus and Mars as billiard balls, shown in a conjunction on the cover of Paul McCartney & Wings’ 1975 album. The cover art is by Hipgnosis, which did many of the album covers of that era, including Obscured by Clouds, Dark Side of the Moon and Animals by Pink Floyd. Here’s a complete list.

This week, we have an unusual synchronicity of an opposition — the Full Moon — combined with a relatively rare conjunction of Venus and Mars.

Of the two, the Full Moon, which takes place in Aries, is the one you’re most likely to notice directly; for example, as heightened emotion, unusual dream activity, or wanting to push things to a head. Full Moons distinguish between the energies of the signs involved, in this case Aries and Libra. They pull the picture into high contrast.

Conjunctions guide us to blend, morph and merge the energies involved; in this case Mars, which rules Aries, and Venus, which rules Libra. The two events are related by their astrological symbols, and by the fact that they happen within two hours of one another, on Thursday afternoon Eastern time. When you see that kind of synch, it’s a reminder to pay attention.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope for Sept. 24-30, 2017

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope for Sept. 24-30, #1169 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Pay attention to who you meet this week, and don’t be intimidated by the great and the mighty. There’s an alchemy to your relationships at the moment, something that’s been gradually coming into alignment for a long time, and it describes encounters with unusual creative potential that might seem to manifest spontaneously. This is where being in the moment and setting aside any form of being star-struck come in. Recognize that every human being on the planet is, in a sense, your peer. However, it will help if you proceed with genuine respect, being honored to meet everyone you meet, whomever they may be: the powerful, the seemingly meek, the young, the old. Know as well that your presence has an influence on the world around you, even if you never see the results. You bring something distinct to every encounter, including the ability to actually present yourself as who you are. That will work brilliantly, as long as you bring all of your listening skills to every meeting. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — The creative process is said to be more about perspiration than it is about inspiration. You start with an idea, and you work on it till you have a clue whether it does what you want it to do. Yet there are also moments of intervention: for example, an experience of contact with a teacher or mentor; a collision with a member of your audience who says something (whether positive or negative) that gets you thinking in a new way; or some discovery that you might make. This week is rich with such teaching moments. It may also be rich in people with whom you connect and cultivate relationships that last many years.

Here’s the one thing to be cautious of: don’t be repelled by the seemingly weird, eccentric or non-ordinary people you may meet. Talent, success and brilliance often come in forms you’re not expecting or have never heard of. People who have indeed made their way in the world have almost always done so by emphasizing aspects of their character that others may feel are off-putting. For maximum benefit, set your judgements aside. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Remember that you’re no longer a child in a world of almighty adults. You are a capable, intelligent and resourceful person who is not, in truth, at anyone’s mercy. Yet you may feel like that from time to time this week, and it’s essential that you pause, catch up with yourself, and respond to others with your full mind. You may have moments when you misjudge your own intelligence as being less than what you really possess. You can sidestep that by not making any judgements at all; stay in the moment, listen to your senses, and ask any questions that you may need to. If you think of life as a process of exploration rather than as a planned trip to a specific destination, you’ll have a lot more fun. You’ll be able to indulge the creative freedom that is your birthright. Do what you can to guide all relationships with collaborators or potential collaborators in any form into the most daring and adventurous territory you can. The chances are, they’ll welcome the opportunity. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The theme of writing has come up repeatedly in my readings for your sign, and we’re now at a peak of that energy. However you can do it, take time to yourself regularly, and sit with your notebook or a computer, preferably with your email and browser turned off. There are thoughts in your mind that you must get into language. This week, with an astounding three different opposition aspects happening (Mars opposite Neptune, Mercury opposite Chiron and Jupiter opposite Uranus), you have the perfect conditions for provoking your mind to action. The thing you may need to avoid are relationship dramas; remember that these are strictly optional. This will be good practice turning down the volume on the usual chatter that clutters up your creative bandwidth. It may help if you focus on a single project, develop that one idea, and drive it to completion, whether it involves the written word or some other form of personal expression. Leo, Virgo Birthday Readings Complete

Dear Friend of Planet Waves:

If what we’re seeing in the wake of the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse is any indication of how influential it was, astrology is alive and kicking in your personal world. I want you to know that the Leo and Virgo birthday readings are available for immediate access.

They are also somewhat late, though this has been a work ethic issue: I don’t do this kind of sensitive reading when I’m in any way stressed, unrested, or distracted. That time finally arrived Friday and Saturday, and these readings are now available.

Planet Waves
You may view the glyph key here.

We are in the midst of extraordinary astrology: we’re living in the wake of so much that’s happened, so much that is happening now, and so much coming up. You need all the information you can get.

Having access to sensitive and accurate astrological keys is a direct advantage. You know the psychic weather when you know the astrology. I work in both the personal and the transpersonal, describing certain inner developments in your life, as well as developments in the world around you — and then I describe where the two meet.

I work in human language, using astro-lingo only as necessary. My message is designed to be both positive and informative: while I’m a pretty good astrologer, I am an even better motivational speaker. I believe in your potential, and I am honored and happy to offer you the keys to realizing your personal gifts.

We are, as well, living through extraordinarily trying times. It’s not easy to be alive right now, but if you can keep your awareness up, and stay a little bit above the fray, and look toward the future, these are indeed brilliant and challenging and amazing times to engage fully with life.

You may get your Leo reading here, or your Virgo reading here. These are especially poignant for your rising sign, as my emphasis is on the houses.

Both include original new music by Vision Quest. You may listen to our live stream here.

Speaking of, I mention in Virgo that I’ve recently published an article in The Mountain Astrologer called It’s All in the Houses. This is an informative, easy-to-follow article that will open up your astrological thinking. The way that I can do these readings for you so accurately is that I understand the houses, or at least I sincerely strive to. I explain how that works in the article, which is free to anyone. If you want to take this deeper, we do offer a class by the same name.

Thank you for being a customer of Planet Waves, and for doing your part to make the world a friendlier, warmer and more intelligent place.

With love, your astrologer,

P.S. If you missed In the Shadow of the Moon, you may access all 12 signs here, or single serving signs here.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Minor planet Ceres has entered your birth sign, which describes you taking a step up in the world. While Ceres (of ancient Roman fame) is usually considered in the context of food, she’s also associated with rising to a different social class. Don’t be in a rush to do this, however. Rather, notice the ways it’s already happened. When one transcends a limit of some kind, there’s not usually a pyrotechnics show. Rather, doors unlock and spaces open to which you did not previously have access. So, therefore, give them a try; reach out to people you’ve wanted to connect with; and do what you want until someone tries to tell you that you can’t. Your solar chart is set up such that accessing one place or group of people will open doors to the next and the next. You don’t need every opportunity, though. You only need the ones that you want the most, so it will help if you have an idea what your agenda is. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Your 2017-18 Leo Birthday Reading by Eric is now complete and available for instant access. This is a seminal year for Leo Sun, rising and Moon, especially with the recent powerful solar eclipse in your sign. Make this dynamic energy work for you — order your reading today.
Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You’re rapidly approaching a series of transition points in your most important relationships, both personal and professional. You need to keep your wits about you, because Mars in your sign is now opposite Neptune. That’s suggesting you honor boundaries and limits, and remain sober (literally, avoid alcohol or mind-changing substances) when you expect to be in a serious conversation of any kind. You have a habit of underestimating your intelligence, then overcompensating later. You can avoid this by listening carefully and observing what’s happening in your environment at all times. Use the full faculties of your mind, and remember all that you’ve learned so recently, and much other knowledge that you’ve worked so hard to attain. One last: Try to set aside any tendency you might have to be passive, and take the initiative of getting the conversation going. Ask a question, express an opinion, introduce yourself. Say the one thing everyone else is afraid to utter. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — The astrology this week is so interesting, with so many things happening, that it’s difficult to describe or even suss out. Yet the Sun newly placed in your sign is conjunct a meaningful asteroid called Vesta. That gives you clear direction: hold the space around you open, and observe what happens. You don’t have to do much, or say much, or be anyone other than who you are. Your mere presence in any environment has an influence, and is a privilege that presents you with specific opportunities you would not have somewhere else. That’s a cue to take advantage of any and every place and time in which you find yourself, and to work quietly with the assumption that you belong everywhere that you happen to be. You don’t need to worry about final outcomes. At the moment the astrology is like a six-way cloverleaf with traffic moving in every direction. You can take the ride and see where you end up in a few days from now. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Never judge your own performance. Any musician will tell you there are nights when you feel like you just cannot play, and you crushed it. There are other nights when you feel like a master of the world, and didn’t really pull it off. And all of these experiences are added to your repertoire and contribute to your skill. All you can really do this week is the best work you can, without any need to evaluate it. The one thing you can focus, though, is your sincerity. That’s your most important boundary in an environment where everything is in rapid motion, where opinions are flying, and where there’s no actual way to control the outcome. Your sincerity will guide you, and it will be a cue to others that you’re on the level. Correct any mistakes you might make. Quickly make amends if you hurt anyone. And plunge into life, with whatever creative tools you might use, and express yourself boldly. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — This week, Jupiter in Libra and Uranus in Aries align in a rare opposition aspect. For a Sagittarian, this is pure inspiration, as if you could compose a symphony based on the clattering of pipes or write a brilliant drama from a few moments of dialog you overheard on the subway. There’s so much action in the sky this week that to tap in anywhere will be like trying to capture a waterfall with a spoon, though you have a distinct advantage: Sagittarius, ruled by Jupiter — the star of the show — is a large sign, associated with the very largest planet. You contain a cosmos of your own. If anyone can handle this energy, and make the most of it, it’s you. Yet you need to focus your awareness and be attentive. There are many factors in the environment that insist on both mindfulness and a spirit of participation, rather than merely observing. Of course, it will be interesting to watch, and there will be plenty to stoke your sense of humor. Much more is available. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — We’re just on the heels of the Libra equinox, and the Sun has entered the angle of your chart associated with accountability, authority and public recognition. It’s also conjunct Vesta, one of the great goddesses of Roman times, associated with the stability of the established order. It’s as if you’re standing guard over something of vital importance, holding space for the right thing to happen. While you’re doing this, there’s every kind of movement, madness and a kaleidoscopic dance of the energies. Yet everything is involved with everything else. All the seemingly different bits are part of the same grand pattern. You don’t need to control any outcomes. Rather, be willing to take responsibility for your own destiny and your own choices. Practice the art of respect, and of self-respect, and allow yourself to become part of anything you want, or anything that seems available. Even things that seem out of reach, though, are only a wormhole away. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — The one thing that could block your experience of this week’s rare and brilliant astrology is a too-serious attitude. Therefore, hang loose, and keep your sense of humor. Let go of some of your formality and adherence to protocol. You have plenty to spare, and can do with far less. Let yourself approach the world more like a child than an adult, which means allowing yourself to be impressed and amazed by things without analyzing or categorizing them. This will free your mind and open your heart to the magic that’s in the air. You may also notice the extent to which you judge yourself, and get a glimpse of how good your life can be when you suspend that habit. You don’t need to explain everything. You don’t even need to understand everything. Most of the very best things in life defy both explanation and understanding, and don’t need a theory to back them up. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Despite the prevailing madness of the world, you may find that people’s idealism is running at an all-time peak this week. And not only that, you’ll be able to make contact with it in meaningful ways. So stay positive, and resolve to have fun doing what you do, being who you are, taking the opportunities that arise. There’s a special theme in your charts related to money. You’re a person with great ideas, and others have resources. This week represents many potential connection points between you and them. Now is the time to focus your business plan, even if in short form, and talk to potential investors, donors, contributors or collaborators. If you’re looking for the perfect timing of a fundraising letter of some sort, this is it. If you’re seeking help organizing your finances, now is the time. There’s a spirit of generosity in the air, and a rare moment when people may feel that the truth has the possibility of prevailing over deception. Be bold, be open, and be sincere. Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for October 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for October 2017, #1168 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Uranus in your sign the past seven years has pushed, pulled, stretched and tweaked who you are. The energy of this transit has been so revved and at times stressful that you’ve had few chances to appreciate some of the more revolutionary qualities that it’s bestowed on you. This month, however, you get a point of contact and a moment of truth. Someone, something, or the world itself, meets you on your own level, and reflects back what you’ve attained or become. The missing experience that you acquire will reveal something of your true potential, which can happen when what you have to offer is met consciously by a circumstance where you’re actually received. You might wonder how you can set your life up to create more of these experiences, or have it be this way all the time. That is indeed the quest, and because you’ll engage this desire as a conscious mission, you have something to aspire to. Meanwhile, you may be getting the message that you don’t have to push yourself, or anyone else, quite as hard as you have in the past. You have an influence. People notice you, though they don’t always know how to respond, and it will help if you find ways to make it easier for them. It will help if you show your appreciation ongoing for anyone who even vaguely recognizes who you are. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You are evolving from one of the most creative times in recent memory to one of the most productive. The key to being dependably prolific is constantly shifting your routines. It’s easy and indeed a kind of temptation to respond to the chaos of the world by locking down work patterns, and personal habits, and enforcing them with rigor. However, you need space to maneuver, and the flexibility to do what you need to do when the time and place are appropriate. One benefit of this will be the ongoing exercise of inventing approaches to your work that are adapted to your latest situation. As a Taurus, you like things predictable, stable and easy to follow. Yet this has a way of trapping your energy, and keeping you caught in mental ruts that run opposite to what is actually productive. You need some element of waking up every day and wondering what you both want and need to do. That may come down to the freedom to continually adjust your approach, if the tasks themselves are committed in advance. Through a process of experimentation, you will discover new methods of efficiency, or at least keep your mind fresh and alert from the need to rethink things. What you do calls for a creative approach, which always comprises approximately equal parts discipline and originality. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You may feel like the world is not ready for what you have to offer. But is the world ever ready for something new, or does it automatically despise everything from the Eiffel Tower to chocolate ice cream, until those things suddenly emerge as wildly popular? You have all the talent and discipline you need. You’re riding a creative wave, as planets gather in Libra, your gloriously alive 5th house of art, fun and risks. The thing you need to work is the theatrical angle: that is, the showmanship to captivate your audience. To do that, focus your talent for telling a good story, remembering that even documentaries have a touch of fiction to them. Conjure your public image using your mercurial skill of relating to others. Remember that public recognition and financial reward for your work are two different things, and negotiate each side of that equation on its own terms. The only recognition you need at the moment is from partners, clients and financial backers. Your most important success is the satisfaction of knowing that you do what you do for its own sake, rather than for any reward in the future. One litmus test is whether you would do it for no money. That’s not the goal, of course; but it’s an indicator of whether you’re doing something that’s truly in harmony with who you are. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You’re moving into a position of leadership with your tribe or family. The way you’re doing this is by exercising your prerogative to do what you want to do, and need to do, regardless of what others may think. The practical effect is to guide others to do the same thing, by essentially granting them permission to freely be themselves. One might think that this would lead to a kind of anarchy, though it’s more likely to release potential as you and the people around you discover new ways to relate and co-create. Another part of your role is to lead the successful aspects of these experiments into more formalized arrangements. If the emphasis of motivation is on desire rather than necessity, you’ll have an idea who really wants to be there. This is especially vital for you, as both Mercury and Jupiter will soon move into the most passionate and adventurous angle of your solar chart, Scorpio. You will be drawn in the direction that is right for you, even as seemingly more practical concerns try to get your attention. Keep leaning into the direction of what actually matters to you rather than apparent necessity. You will still pay your bills. If you do only what is practical, you’ll still pay the bills, though at considerable expense to your soul. Thankfully, you can cross that off your list of things to ponder. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Your solar chart is all about the theme of what happens close to home. Your community is calling you to invest your energy. Your home is the place to meet people, to share food, and to live your life. And it’s the center of your spiritual life, your personal sanctuary. The world is struggling with whole notion of ‘local’; and for many people, their home is no longer the central place in their life. Often it would seem there is not one, save for one’s workplace, and that’s not usually a cozy place where people would voluntarily hang out after hours. This same astrology parallels an emotional and spiritual picture that’s calling for you to take some space to yourself and orient on your inner life. One way this appears in your chart is that Jupiter will soon enter Scorpio, which is your 4th house of your inner life and sense of security. This also covers your home and private spaces. Jupiter’s presence here is about making home, and almost always indicates a time of improvement and investment in your home. Mercury will enter Scorpio around the same time, giving this a personal, immediate and less abstract feeling. There are problems and emotional states that you can address much more effectively simply by being in your home, and doing everything you can to ensure that it’s a place where you feel welcome. Leo, Virgo Birthday Readings Complete

Dear Friend of Planet Waves:

If what we’re seeing in the wake of the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse is any indication of how influential it was, astrology is alive and kicking in your personal world. I’ve spent the last couple of days finishing the Leo and Virgo birthday readings, and I want you to know they’re available.

Because these readings are being delivered late, we’re going to keep the pre-order price of $44 for a while. You may get your Leo reading here, or your Virgo reading here. These are especially poignant for your rising sign, as my emphasis is on the houses.

Both include original new music by Vision Quest. You may listen to our live stream here.

We are also offering pre-order on the Libra reading, which I reckon will be done pretty soon — probably within a few days after the equinox.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Since late summer, planets have been streaking through your sign; which often indicates the feeling of being driven, an increase in activity and commitments and, for you, a restless and nervous buzz. This culminates with something that is fulfilling and which arrives with a sense of completion and contact: a conjunction of Venus and Mars on Oct. 5. This is a rare sign of balance in a world that seems to be going increasingly off its rails, hinges and beams on a daily basis. While relationship matters still have your attention, and may be leaving you questioning your investment of energy, they no longer have the ability to throw you off balance like they have so many times during this long phase of your life. The essence of this development is integrating the male and female aspects of your psyche. You no longer need to seek either one of these things outside of yourself. The more you integrate them inwardly, the more stable you will feel, and the less power over you people will seem to possess. There remain questions involving joint finances, though you’re in an unusually good position to attain a new level of independence. Rather than being lured out of being grounded and centered within yourself, notice the connection between your emotional life and your economic life; and don’t let anyone convince you that you need them more than you need yourself. Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — For the past 12 months, Jupiter has been in your sign, revealing the many possibilities of your life. You may have also experienced certain problems or issues being magnified, though now at least you can see in detail what they are, and what you might do about them. In the first of many new developments influencing you during the coming 12 months, Jupiter enters your neighboring sign Scorpio, which means that it’s time to invest in yourself, your goals and your vision for your life. It’s a message that self-esteem is the basis of all success in the world, in your relationships with others, and in your sense of belonging on the planet. This is the first of many upcoming changes directly influencing your sign. To name two others: later this year, Saturn enters Capricorn, one of the most important transits that you can experience, representing an extended phase of shoring up your foundations, cleaning your roots and resolving long-enduring problems. Then Chiron enters your house of relationships, where it will stay for about nine years. This will emphasize healing processes within partnerships of all kinds. The upshot of these transits is that — whether immediately or over the long haul — you will be transforming all of the most significant facets of your existence. Your awareness will be called where it truly matters. You will learn to stand on your own, which is the prerequisite for freedom. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — What is the net result of your efforts? When you consider all you do, and who you do it for, and with, and because of, and you study what actually happens after all is said and done, what’s the outcome? Here in the 21st century, that’s the thing to think about. For you, it’s essential to recognize the extent to which you’re not only personally invested in your work, but also the degree to which it’s a source of your identity. The results of your efforts are in truth the results of your life. Your solar chart suggests you’re moving up in the world, or that advancement is on the agenda, which applies not just to your work but to you personally. Yet this is centered on your professional activities, which, by the way, are described by fire signs Aries and Leo. Making things ‘all about you’ is the source of your river of power, though it’s not the delta. Hence, testing the results is essential to your personal progress, which is connected to what you do for the world. When Jupiter ingresses your sign later this month, you will be transported to a wider world of more important priorities. You will be called upon to consider, use and apply the spiritual teaching you’ve imbibed over the years. You will be called upon to be a bigger person. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — After nearly three years of Saturn in your sign, you’re finally starting to get some results. Well, that’s Saturn for you; though in the scheme of things, a thousand days is a short time to develop anything that truly makes a difference. You have arrived at a moment of both contact and commitment. You’re at a turning point, where you first need to evaluate your progress since this time of year in 2014 (which I know feels like forever ago). This has been a deeply formative time for you, during which you’ve had to reckon your desires with your abilities. If this is working correctly, you’ve pushed yourself, worked with discipline, and had a long encounter with your seeming limitations. If you’ve experienced losses, you’ve also received the gain of a deeper connection with your aspirations and your capacity to get things done. The remaining three months of this year represent one of the most significant transitions of your lifetime so far. Saturn in your sign will make a series of conjunctions to slow-moving (though not widely discussed) planets in your sign, and a conjunction to the Galactic Core. You are engaging the practical side of spirituality: putting your devotion to good use, embracing the concept of service, and living the truth that one of your core purposes is acting as if to hold the world together. Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Alice A. Bailey, in her essential 1951 book Esoteric Astrology, describes Capricorn as representing “the life of the divine deeply embedded in substance.” We are learning to relate to this through recognizing that mountains are alive and have consciousness; that crystals are our friends and allies; and that the Earth itself, so long considered blind, deaf and inert, is fully aware of our presence. For many years, Pluto has been gradually working its way through your sign, which has felt like a plough turning over the ground, getting it ready for the planting of new seeds. Those seeds are now being sown, particularly where professional matters are concerned. You’ve been through a series of events over the summer that have compelled you to see beyond the details and minor points of existence, and to focus your mind on the longer story of your life. You are being called, at once, to take life more seriously, and to feed and encourage the childlike nature that is the true essence of your sign. Capricorn is considered the sign of climbing, and even of ruthless competition. This is a distortion and a misunderstanding. Your work is relational more than anything. Your first responsibility is to people and not to institutions. As such, you must be motivated by the love of what you do and those whom you serve, rather than by the love of success. Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — To be meaningful, this thing we call spirituality must have a use. It cannot merely be an abstract, academic or esoteric thing, as it so often is. Its correct use would include a sane approach to handling conflict, and the use of wisdom rather than force. This is a tall order, I know, on a planet where most people concern themselves either with survival, or greed. For you, the spiritual life is designed to manifest primarily in your relationships. While the point might be made that this applies to everyone (it does), the emphasis for Aquarius is to make sure you don’t forget, and convince yourself you’ll find enlightenment way in the back of a dusty book on Freemasonry. The relational nature of your spiritual path comes into focus this month, as planets collect in Libra. This is an invitation to see, feel and experience the purpose of your relationships, which is non-negotiable. Anytime there’s some sort of haggling going on, or competition, or scorekeeping, you can be sure that you’ve drifted from your purpose. Part of whatever ‘spiritual’ might imply involves being supportive of the people you care about and their total environment. Spiritual also implies a measure of balance, though that must be assessed over the long run rather than the immediate sense. Your role is to be helpful. Eliminate the question, “What’s in it for me?” That is from another cosmos. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — This month, Jupiter, the first Pisces planet, changes signs and ingresses Scorpio, a water sign with a special resonance to yours. At the same time, Saturn begins the final phase of its three-year run through Sagittarius, the angle of your chart associated with responsibility, accountability, reputation and success (see Sagittarius for details). Whether your life is going brilliantly or you’re struggling, persist at what you’re doing, and remember the goals that you set out for yourself back at whatever you consider the beginning of this phase of your life. Saturn making a conjunction to the Galactic Core is so rich with purpose, it’s difficult to understand, much less explain, but you could say it’s about grounding the essential elements of the divine plan in your life, and in the world around you, at this time. This transit, unlike any other that happens for the next 29 years, could be described as the embodiment of “action is the fruit of knowledge.” Said another way (borrowing from the Grateful Dead), your role is to shed light and not to master. Yet you must focus your energy, and the strength of your will, and view time as your ally rather than as your enemy. As for Jupiter in Scorpio, there could hardly be a happier transit for any Pisces who knows that a fully conscious approach to sex is the path to love, wisdom and healing. Great American Eclipse: Looking Back, Looking Forward

An astonishing photo of three simultaneous cyclones: Hurricane Katia making landfall over Mexico, Hurricane Irma approaching Cuba, and Hurricane Jose reaching peak intensity on September 8, 2017.

Dear Friend and Reader:

Astrology may be the most objective means of studying the world, since it’s inherently meaningless. Every experiment needs a control of some kind, and astrology, removed as it is from any known law of cause and effect, provides the perfect null value.

The charts and other tools used by astrologers provide information about the timing of celestial events, but no information whatsoever about their relevance to mundane life, with the exception of information about the seasons changing (good for farming) and the lunar phases (good for hunting and for farming).

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope for Sept. 3-9, 2017, #1166 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — As Mercury changes direction this week, you will be guided to put the emphasis of your life on work-related projects. Yet you’ll benefit from leaving the window open to the creative zone of your mind, drawing from the same pool of ideas you would to do your most exciting personal projects. Said another way, to work effectively, the formula is to blend work and play. That means being more daring, and breaking the mold on certain stuck or boring thought patterns. You may encounter a situation where there’s a temptation to do things the same old way, though the more you try to do that, the more you will revolt. Your mind may become a kind of incendiary device; these get most of their power not from the explosive itself but from the tightness of the container. When you experience a real idea, you’ll know it from the way the walls and windows rattle. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You’re ready to expand into a whole new direction, though you may encounter some resistance in the form of your usual, seemingly inescapable self-critique. You in particular will always tend to be your harshest critic, which is in part a product of conditioning you can unravel. In case I haven’t done so lately, I’ll pass along an idea given to me by a wise old Taurus in my life, which is to never judge your own performance. Rather, do your best work, and let others decide how they feel about it. While some things, such as writing or photos, seem subject to self-critique, this is not as dependable as it seems. You miss the impact of what you create on minds and emotional bodies other than your own. You can’t really assess what you’re producing unless you experience it for the first time, in that moment, which you cannot do. Therefore, do not judge yourself; just keep experimenting. Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Mercury stationing direct on Tuesday morning, after a nearly four-week retrograde phase, will give you a boost of confidence. Yet at the same time, other factors look like they could undermine your self-assurance. Once there was a spiritual teacher named Alan Watts. He wrote, “The desire for security and the feeling of insecurity are the same thing. To hold your breath is to lose your breath. A society based on the quest for security is nothing but a breath-retention contest in which everyone is as taut as a drum and as purple as a beet.” Wow, that sounds like it was written yesterday, though it’s from the mid-20th century. The remedy to this emotional mind is, in part, not to take yourself, or your feeling of supposed security, all that seriously. Keep your sense of humor. Remember that all things have a beginning, a middle and an end; track where you are in that process. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — This has been an interesting few weeks for you in two seemingly unrelated aspects of life: your finances and your self-esteem. Yet astrology strongly suggests that they are closely related, if not one and the same thing. If you study the relationship, you’ll notice interesting things. People tend to feel more confident when they have money in their pocket, though they often miss that their economic situation is related to their confidence. While there are exceptions, you will learn a great deal from seeking an understanding of this relationship, particularly over the next six months. As you build one, you will strengthen the other, with the seeming side result of cultivating maturity. This should be more meaningful to you than popularity or being entertained. Go for the deeper material and the longer-lasting values. Know what is truly important to you, and find strength in pursuing that as a life mission or calling. What you gain, you will never lose. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — What you’ve learned the past few weeks has provided you with gems of wisdom that you will be able to bank on for a lifetime. In long hindsight, once some time passes and you have some perspective, August 2017 will be a before-and-after turning point on which your whole life seemed to pivot. What happens over the next few days will remind you what you learned and reinforce the teachings that have been offered to you. You may have missed a few subtle points or ideas for how to proceed, and you may also be making a few final decisions for how you’re going to advance in the short term. Make sure those decisions are based on new information, which is likely to be flowing in abundance. The point of gaining knowledge is to use it, rather than merely collect it. The only way to confirm whether a theory or approach is valid is to do an extended real-time test. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo Birthdays 2017:
Find Your Passion for Growth

“If you’re getting the message to grow and to become, find your passion for growth. Passion means feeling, beauty, angst, love, confusion, pain and discovery: the things you discover in every meaningful endeavor.”

— Eric Francis Coppolino in the 2017 Book of Your Life reading for Virgo

Dear Reader with Virgo Sun, Rising or Moon:

What messages to “grow and become” did you receive between the two August eclipses? Are you still trying to figure that out, or maybe planning your next steps?

Recent weeks have been interesting and intense for just about everyone, though it’s possible they’ve felt especially curious for you.

This Tuesday, you had the unique experience of your ruling planet, Mercury, stationing direct in the same cryptic, hidden-away section of your chart where the total solar eclipse occurred on Aug. 21.

All of it comes together to begin your next year in dynamic ways — ways that will ripple out and develop in the months to come, aided by other significant astrology in the process. For example, major planets are gearing up to change signs (among other things).

Eric will get into all of this and more in your upcoming 2017-18 Virgo Birthday Reading.

“Your readings are soothing, grounding and remarkably spot on, especially in times like these. I very much appreciate you and your work.”

— Alison

Created to help you steer through the next 12 months and beyond, Eric presents the two astrology segments (at least 30 minutes each) and tarot reading in accessible, inviting language. He’ll offer motivation and inspiration for all the challenges and opportunities you may encounter in your intimate relationships, family structure, career, creativity, spiritual and sexual healing and much more.

“You guide but also ask the listener to engage with their lives. Humans don’t just get transformation for free and you are very precise in telling us where to look.”

— Shelley Stearns

How will you activate your potential and passion to grow and become? You can start by pre-ordering your Virgo Birthday Reading — at the lowest price we offer: just $33 for some of the clearest, most immediately useful astrology you can find on the internet.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — In anything you may do, ask yourself whom you’re serving. What is the cause that you’re supporting? To what is your energy devoted? To be happy as a Virgo, what you do must transcend yourself. Yet Mars in your birth sign is strongly suggesting that you have to act in certain self-serving ways. You’re approaching a point of maturity that’s requiring you to find approaches to life that sustain your own cause and that serve the greater good. What you do must work for everyone on some level. There are times when you’ll be called upon to make a sacrifice or to offer yourself in truly selfless service, though when you’re in tune, this will always come back to you in the form of learning, knowledge or the opportunity for further participation. Don’t be deterred by people who are in denial or committed to being lost; that’s just a game, and it’s one that you don’t want or need to play. Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — There’s only so much progress you can make when your primary devotion is to making sure your life is carefully planned and organized. Most real advances come through some form of disruption. This might include an unexpected turn in the story line, plans that don’t work out and which then need to be revised, or realizing you’re confused and need to snap out of it. Therefore, hang loose, and don’t cling to what you think is supposed to happen. Rather, let the momentum of the next few days carry you, and then see where you end up. Events over the next 24 hours, as the Full Moon stretches across the most sensitive angle of your solar chart, will reveal that things are not as they seem. As the fog gradually clears, you’re likely to discover that you’ve accomplished far more than you may think, despite any plans to do something different. Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Popularity is not everything. Seeming proper and acceptable are worth even less. These things are so empty that you’d be well served to toss any worries about what you think people think, and to experience yourself with no concern about how you’re perceived. This is a stretch, though it’ll set you free to think, feel and do things that violate the rules in some way, or which may be appealing to you but frightening to those who are less bold and curious. That’s the place to hang out; that’s where the action is. The fact that something you want might seem inappropriate, embarrassing or risqué is exactly the reason to experiment with it; this in turn will require you to go against protocol in some way. That’s one clue you’re doing something real, and relevant to your growth. To be who you are, you must be willing to challenge who you are. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — All the emphasis of your solar chart is now shifting to your 10th house of reputation and achievement. That also means accountability. You might, however, be over-emphasizing the responsibility aspect of things, which could hinder your ability to get things done. If you proceed with foresight rather than merely worrying about the impact of what you do, you’ll make a lot more progress. Consider what you intend, and be mindful about unintended consequences. Said another way, at the moment, there’s a limit to how impeccable you can be and still get anything done. One helpful key is to notice when your own concerns seem like those of your parents. For example, you know you can succeed at what they might never have dared to try. You might bend a rule that they would never even consider messing with. Most of all, you’re far likelier to strive to achieve something difficult even if you’re uncertain or insecure. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — One theme of the post-eclipse phase of your life is ethics. You can think of this as the careful evaluation of what is right or wrong, based on your personal values. You can drive yourself crazy splitting hairs, and sometimes that’s necessary and relevant. There’s another side to what we call ethics, which is a related concept: ethos. You can think of that as the spirit of the law, rather than the letter of the law. That’s what you want. The truth, or what is correct, is rarely quantifiable, though you can feel it — and you can feel when that elusive thing is not there. For your purposes, there is such a thing as true and valid, though you will be able to sense it more than you can prove it. Therefore, be sensitive to what you’re feeling, including a certain kind of resistance that you know hints you’re investing your energy where it does not belong. Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Regarding a financial matter, you will need to study the exact figures before you have a sense of what’s going on. Be bold about going to the numbers, and looking at the various sub-totals and the bottom line. This is not an area with any room for guessing, and what you think might be true is likely to turn out to be different from what is actually true. You cannot be too accurate; you should get the same result whether you add the column from top to bottom or bottom to top. Once you have the data, you’ll be on much more solid ground, and you’ll feel more confident as a result. In fact, you’re likely to discover that not knowing the bottom line eats confidence like a caterpillar eats leaves. You’ll also have enough information to establish the best MO for what you want to do, which should rightfully include a budget that you stick to, more or less. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Many changes filter through the astrology this week, which will settle the accounts on what has occurred during this most eventful month or two of your life. You’ve lived with considerable uncertainty and resistance, which you’ve endured so persistently that you got used to it. Allow things to settle down without any special need to stir them up again. Take some time and do what you want to do, rather than what you seemingly have to do. Most of all, allow and invite what you want to come to you, rather than thinking that you always must go to it. The Pisces Full Moon takes place Wednesday morning, and is just elegant in both its mysteries and what it reveals. Keep in mind that from the viewpoint of others, you’re not so easy to understand or pin down to one point of view, though you can trust yourself, and people will trust you, for many other reasons. Hurricane Harvey: Call it What it Is

Let the music keep our spirits high
Let the buildings keep our children dry
Let creation reveal its secrets by and by, by and by

Jackson Browne

Dear Friend and Reader:

This is a good week to appreciate the dry roof over your head and the food in your refrigerator. Now is the perfect time to appreciate, truly appreciate, that you have a home to come home to: that you have a dry bed, and that your people and pets are close to you. Be grateful for the toilet that flushes, the electricity coming out of the wall, and the privilege of having a toaster and some bread to put in it.

Joe Garcia carried his dog, Heidi, from his flooded home in Spring, Tex., on Monday. Photo by David J. Phillip/Associated Press.

Estimates that 30,000 people will be displaced by Hurricane Harvey are woefully understated. The scale of this crisis is far wider, and as yet, unknown.

Flood damage is insidious. Unlike a fire, where all the damage is up front, a flood is a continuously unfolding disaster that gets worse with time. Damage, loss and injuries continue for months.

The mold grows and grows, until it’s stopped. The extent of renovation required after a building is submerged in water is more than most people can afford, if the home or business is even salvageable.

I know this from personal experience.
