If you are trying to figure something out, write it down, the old fashioned way, on paper. Map out your thoughts in a visual way, so you can see them; and then scribble, erase, revise, rewrite, sketch and develop what you’re thinking. There is something a bit slow and ponderous about your charts right now, and you will benefit from the full use of your intelligence. This must be a deliberative operation. You will need to change your mind, change it again, and change it one more time. This is not about being indecisive. It’s about an actual decision process.

Be prepared to adjust or abandon your plan on the fly — particularly in the morning — though that does not mean you shouldn’t bother to have one. The Virgo Moon is a natural time for focusing on practical, precise and orderly tasks. However, early in the day the Moon makes trines to Uranus in Taurus and Pholus in Capricorn. Unexpected factors are likely to pop up.

Yet you might actually find this to be emotionally exciting, and it could stimulate some constructive change in your personal relationships or physical environment. Pholus in the picture indicates that it may not take much to surprise you (or those close to you), and that small adjustments made in response could develop into an unusual level of creative change. One key to that is remembering to keep sight of the bigger picture, rather than over-focusing on what would have been ‘perfect’ according to your original plan.

Last but not least: bear in mind that Mercury stations retrograde in Leo tomorrow afternoon (or evening, depending on your time zone). This is likely today’s most important descriptor of mental, interpersonal and mechanical/digital curveballs, as well as the need to meet them with an open mind and relaxed attitude. If you’re feeling confident about tackling problems, that’s great — just remember there’s a fine line between confidence and arrogance. A positive solution is one that takes everyone’s needs and desires into account, even if it can’t satisfy all of them equally. And right now, it could be harder to hear the details of others’ desires clearly if you don’t make the conscious effort to.

I’ve seen few times in the past decade of tracking astrological history when the theme of personal recreation was more meaningful for Pisces; indeed; I cannot think of one. It’s as though the large pieces are finally aligning with the small ones; the finer points of life with the greater ones; the decorating details with the architectural structure. From this point onward, take it slow and steady. You have been through enormous personal renovation work. You have reached places you did not know existed. Relax for a moment and take it all in.

You have not chosen an easy path, but you have chosen a meaningful one — or you surely want to. You have things you want to do, and you have the passion to accomplish them. Here is what I suggest you remember, and remember all the time: you are your most important asset. Not your money, not your friends, not your circumstances — you personally. That includes your talents, your knowledge, and your spiritual connection, which I suggest you focus on first and foremost. Any problems you may face are merely puzzles to be solved.

Chances are you can trace many of your sensitivities, concerns, sense of security (or lack thereof) and emotional response habits to those of your immediate family members. They, in turn, can trace theirs back to the previous generation. And so on. As Venus opposes Quaoar in Capricorn today, notice whether you see any of that mirrored to you in any way.

The great thing about such moments is that when we’re able to recognize what someone is showing us as our own ‘stuff’, we get an opportunity to choose a new approach if we don’t care for what we see. If you’re being shown a constructive or creative way of meeting the world (whether it’s your family’s typical approach or something new), you can be more conscious about modeling it for others.

The Moon continues through Leo with flair today, lending end-of-the-week activities an extra social vibe. Playing with kids could feel especially rewarding — and if you’re lucky enough to enjoy a four-day weekend, offers a great way to keep the energy moving, especially if adult interactions seem fraught with miscommunication or frustration. Mercury is very slow and powerful now as it prepares to station retrograde on Sunday, requiring extra focus with communication of all sorts. Easy does it.

You are now the bridge: between Heaven and Earth, between people, and between all aspects of reality that seem different, but are really one. How we go from one reality to another, from “separation” to “unity,” from “negative” to “positive,” is largely a trick of perception. We must learn to see again, which often involves unlearning all the wrong information and reality-formulas we were forced to believe. I have lost a long argument with reality, and concede the point that how we see the world, it is — and more important, how we see the world, it becomes. Your role is to vision yourself and each of the the people who inhabits the empire of your senses into transformation, to see the connections, and to gently lead people across the bridge to reality. Remember that your the transformative power of your eyes and ears will work whether it’s negative or positive; so choose all that is about love, creation, wisdom, beauty and prosperity, and you can’t go wrong.

You were born on Independence Day, and for you, the only meaning of that word comes from having your own resources, control of your finances, and the motivation to be a success. You simply must tap your drive, and at the same time, you must be wise with your resources. There’s the clear potential for having plenty of motivation and desire for success, and then making bad choices financially. This is not necessary. You must fully inform yourself, and triple-check your sources; and put a delay in between you and any major moves you want to make.

We’re now entering the ‘storm’ phase prior to Mercury stationing retrograde on July 7. This is the 2-3 days on either side of a station retrograde or station direct, when communication, technological gadgets and life in general can often seem especially disruptive. If you can slow down your general pace of thought and action, you may find it easier to navigate any hiccups you encounter in the next several days. If you’re in the U.S. and celebrate Independence Day, please be especially careful with fire, alcohol, travel and your temper.

Several of today’s exact aspects appear to describe a certain theme: how you experience and express caring, especially when you meet challenging situations. For one, Venus in Cancer is making an opposition to the centaur Pholus in Capricorn. When faced with a potentially out-of-control situation, what do you do with your concern about it? Do you let yourself spiral off into worry, or do you figure out how to meet it with empathy-in-action? The same questions apply if you’re confronting the result of generations’ worth of cause and effect that have rippled down through the years to this present moment. You have a choice in how you channel your emotional responses.

The Cancer Sun opposite the centaur Hylonome suggests a similar dynamic: some form of caring self-expression in response to a “cry of the poor,” particularly when that cry is emerging as a result of institutional (such as governmental) systems, policies and structures. If you’ve been watching the news, you know there are very real opportunities for this. Meanwhile Mars, newly in Leo, is conjunct Varuna — an object that carries the keyphrase “the great equalizer.” True courage — which, like the word’s root, comes from the heart — may be the greatest equalizer of all. As Bayard Taylor once wrote, “The loving are the daring.”

Make a list of the places you want to go, and pick the one you want to visit the very most. Choose a time, research the location, figure out the best places to stay (or find people you can stay with) and GO. One journey will lead to another, which will lead to a new concept of who you are. You may have travelled for growth and adventure in the past — you have the ‘find yourself on the road’ kind of chart. Now you’re in a ‘find yourself on the road’ time of life. If you do want to travel, there is something to be said for doing so spontaneously. When your life circumstance permits, go where you want to go. If your company reorganizes and you find yourself with your days free, put gas in the car and break out the map — in that order. The adventurous transits that take hold of your awareness have other expressions. One of the most vital is about exploring some field of knowledge that really turns you on. Visit the biggest or, alternately, the most specialized library in your area (a fantastic day trip — go alone). Consider opening your home to a guest from far away; there are programs for doing that, from student exchanges to grownup exchanges. Focusing on travel, knowledge and meeting even vaguely exotic people will remind you how young you are, why you’re alive and moreover that you’re alive

If you find yourself in an awesome new beginning of some kind, and then hit turbulence, do not be dissuaded, distracted or sidetracked. Just keep going, though you might need to make certain adjustments — however, these will be minor in comparison to the larger plan you are involved with. Pay special attention to professional relationships, and make sure everyone is good on the level of commitment, mutual appreciation, and the energy needed to get the job done. And remember: a little chaos is good for creativity. Not a lot; just enough to shake the tree.

With yesterday’s total solar eclipse in Cancer over, we are in The Eclipse Zone: the two weeks between eclipses. (The companion partial lunar eclipse with the Capricorn Full Moon occurs on July 16-17, depending on time zone). Continue focusing on what you love to do, look where you want to be, and recognize unusual opportunities for what they are, to make the most of the pattern shifting potential of these two weeks.

Venus enters Cancer today at 11:18 am EDT (15:17:58 UTC). Compared to the breeziness of Gemini, this may bring a more emotional, security-focused tone to relationships of all sorts. With Venus coming into contact with the slow-moving planets early in the cardinal signs, there’s a reminder here to channel any tendencies to worry into more constructive, proactive forms of taking care of others who truly need it; issues you are passionate about will benefit from this approach, too.

Note also that Mercury stations retrograde on July 7. You may wish to back up your computer if you have not done so very recently, and begin raising your awareness around how and what you communicate, particularly when it comes to emotionally sensitive topics.

The Cancer Sun’s gentle contact with the centaur Nessus in Pisces suggests an extra layer of inner healing power available today, linked with yesterday’s eclipse. Emotional patterns can be some of the toughest to shift, and often have roots deep in the past — stretching into parts of our childhood when we had few words to articulate our experience and few tools at our disposal to process it. You may be able to access an especially compassionate form of initiative today — such as through self-forgiveness — in addressing anything fitting this description. Be gentle with yourself, and remember that everyone has their struggles.

There is no security possible in this world other than love. Look at the lives of the people who are financially wealthy and have no one they actually trust, and no one they are sure cares about them. You don’t need a thin dime to survive. All you need is to acknowledge and affirm the presence of the people around you, particularly those who abide anyplace you call home. It works out that those relationships will either provide or point you toward some of the more financially lucrative experiences you’ve known in quite a while. Focus on what resources you have to exchange. Business is based on the principle of exchange.
