You Were Here Then — Mercury Trine Neptune

Mercury’s Scorpio course flows into a water trine with Neptune in Pisces tonight. This is Mercury’s third and final water sign connection with Neptune this year, implicitly connecting you with the previous two. It will be up to you to remember that what you are looking for is concrete, measurable, verifiable, actual observations — not delusions.

Mercury’s Scorpio course flows into a water trine with Neptune in Pisces at 10:38 pm EDT tonight (which would be 3:38 UT tomorrow). This is Mercury’s third and final water sign connection with Neptune this year, implicitly connecting you with the previous two — when, in some sense, you were already here.

As Eric noted yesterday (re: Mars’ Capricorn conjunction with Pluto), aspects from “a fast-moving inner planet” to slower-moving outer planets can serve as an “observation tool.”

What applies to Mars interacting with the Uranus-Pluto square this week applies triple with Mercury’s water trine to Neptune tonight (or tomorrow, depending on your time zone). Triple because Mercury conjoined with Neptune in Pisces on March 22.

That conjunction was followed by Mercury’s first water trine to Neptune in Pisces (from Cancer) on July 19. Today makes three. It’s a situation Planet Waves anticipated for you in this space back on March 18.

All three of Mercury’s water aspects to Neptune this year share a similar something in common. What they have in common in turn provides an observation tool you can use.

Each case presents Mercury freshly emerged from its final echo (or “shadow”) phase by having passed the point where its most recent retrograde began, followed by a water aspect to Neptune just days later.

Hence, in each case, Mercury is on fresh ground, representing the symbolic clarity of a mind freed from a pattern ingrained by repetition. This renders it (and you) able to see things from a fresh perspective as a result — provided Neptune’s association with delusion can be objectively dealt with.

Using all three cases of Mercury in water aspect to Neptune (March 22, July 19 and either today or tomorrow) together as an observational tool has precedent in tangible practices of the actual world. In the tangible world, three points routinely provide you with actual perspective. You can, as the phrase goes, “connect the dots.”

For example, you can perform the navigational (or orienteering) practice known as triangulation by taking a compass fix on two known landmarks to determine your position as a third point on the two-dimensional representation we call a map. You can also employ observations of height, width and depth to define a three-dimensional object (just like 3-D printers do), or to locate a point in three-dimensional space. Finally, any three similar occurrences in your life can at least begin to indicate a pattern over time.

Hence, the three reasons Planet Waves anticipated this moment for you last March. First, so you could overcome with awareness any proclivity Neptune has for delusion (especially while in intimate connection — conjunction or trineĀ — with Mercury, emblem of your mind, through the subjective milieu of water signs). You can do this by setting up an objective time frame correlating with Mercury’s three water aspects to Neptune.

Next, so you could formulate an attainable goal by looking ahead with the aid of a time frame anticipated by three correlated astrological events. Finally, so you could measure your progress from the perspective you had on July 19, and have today.

If your life happened in the meantime while you were making other plans (probably the case for most of us), you can still use the three Mercury-Neptune water aspects this year as a tool to observe where you are at this point.

After connecting those three dots in your own life, you can then begin (objectively, please remember) observing for any further connections your personal circumstance has with what Eric called the “generational aspect” of Uranus square Pluto. Mars in Capricorn conjoined with Pluto yesterday, and in a cardinal square to Uranus in Aries on Thursday, likely is revealing something to you.

It will be up to you to remember that what you are looking for is concrete, measurable, verifiable, actual observations — not delusions. You don’t need delusions for the results to be efficacious.

Then, you can look back at March and July one more time to appreciate how you may have, in some sense, been here then, so as to learn rather than regret now. That’s what you are here for. That, and to share with us what you have learned so that we can separately observe how we are one with each other as surely as all time is (in T.S. Eliot’s words) “eternally present.”

Triple-y good Len, thank you. Mercury is quickly moving towards the Eastern horizon to catch up to the Sun again, quick little feller. My subjective experience is that my mind feels more clear than it has for the past 2 months, that alone is worth seeing.

Len thanks for pointing this out – it is something to consider. I seem endlessly confused lately but today I feel pretty clear headed and maybe I can contribute something.

I speak my thoughts into a recorder almost daily and usually I am either somewhat upset or somewhat overjoyed – all I can seem to gather from these three periods of time, March 22, July 19 and Nov 11th – and their surrounding days – reflects either my optimism or pessimism about the quest for honesty in my world. I either feel highly aware of myself and quickly notice any patterns, questioning their premise, or I am often enraged to bitterness over the stupidity of our collective pretense, posturing, and denial.
My hopeful persona sees my progress and believes the world is progressing as well. My depressive persona believes that the world is hopelessly self destructive and – no matter what I do to speak awakening into it – the sleepers will stay in control. In one I am the dreamer dreaming my world into being – in the other my world is dreaming me and it disapproves of everything I am. In one I am the hero and in the other I am the martyr.
I have been more lately concluding that everything is just where I am in a given moment and wondering if there is really anything at all that I can do to help anything. I seem to be a log floating down stream; when the water raises I get pushed up against the edge and often stuck there going in circles for a long time, but when the river recedes I am freed to flow along with the current again. Maybe that is where some sense of hope matters because I don’t any longer seem to resist the flow and stay hung up in the brush, as the water recedes, leaving me high and dry waiting for the next deluge.
But that could be just my optimism speaking from Neptunian hopefulness.

I can identify quite strongly with the difficulty you sometimes experience in mustering hope. Perhaps one way of navigating the current is to say, “I do my best: that is enough.”

It’s an interesting collection of events, these three navigational points. It boils down to three different versions of the same category of activity in my life. I will have to ponder further the movement, as of right now what I see is an increase in income and self-confidence, but with all this talk about Narcissus, I’m going to have to delve a little deeper… should be easy to go deep with the help of Mars and Pluto conjunct natal Mercury. And with those in the 6th house right now, it seems all I can focus on is work and healing. But I know there is more to this pattern than that.

Cowboyiam – I can relate to your endlessly confused comment. Or is it endlessly foggy brained, I’m confused.

I’m awfully glad it happened on Veterans Day Len, this Mercury trine Neptune. Seems fitting that for the most part, the news was gentle today. Our veterans deserve that. However, I think the triple water connections between Mercury and Neptune have something to do with the Ebola scare.

The initial announcement from the CDC on the Ebola outbreak was on March 25th, saying that the World Health Organization had reported 86 suspected cases in Guinea as of March 24th, 2 days after Mercury made his conjunction to Neptune in Pisces. Today the last case of Ebola in the USA was pronounced cured, just as Mercury in Scorpio trined Neptune about to station direct this weekend. The virus is spread through fluids and has a lot in common with how emotional panic and fear is spread. Water signs and Neptune (along with the Moon and Pluto) symbolize this mode of operation, and with Mercury, news travels fast.

Coming as it does between the Mars-Pluto conjunction and the Mars square Uranus aspects, the battle isn’t over, especially since all 3 planets make hard aspects to the U.S Sibly Sun and Saturn right now. Well, at least we had this day of tranquility from the media to sooth our weary nerves. Thanks to you and PlanetWaves, we the readers can surmount most of the engendered panic (delusion) from the combined energies of Neptune and Mercury, but the rest of the country won’t be so lucky. All part of the count your blessings (aka Full Moon in Taurus; what do you value most of all) lesson this month. Peace and Love and hope everyone had a nice Veterans Day.

Chief Niwots Son: Thank you for sharing your personal correlations, which are very valuable given your evident proficiency with Mercury.

Cowboyjam: Thank you, in turn, for sharing your poetic proficiency with Neptune.

Amy: Additional thanks to you for sharing your compassionate proficiency combined with what appears to be a grounded perspective.

beths: Congratulations on your achieved correlations in what also seems to be a grounded perspective. Just please remember that it takes all sorts of energies to make up a zodiac or solar system.

Barbara: Speaking of an excellent correlation, you appear to have made one by connecting a scheduled national event and an unscheduled national event with Mercury trine Neptune. Thank you for your genius once again!
