Without End

Since you are reading this, you know that the world did not end yesterday as some had predicted. That’s good news, but no surprise to astrologers. In case you haven’t noticed, astrology is about cycles rather than ends. The great thing about cycles is that every end is also simultaneously a beginning.

As discussed here a week ago, Venus ends a long two-part stretch in Leo today shortly after 1:29 pm EDT (17:29:06 UTC). By making its second ingress to Virgo this year, however, Venus also implicitly begins “Your Time To Shine.”

Additionally (as Amanda, Fe and Eric all discussed this week), Mercury’s last retrograde of 2015 ends tomorrow, essentially allowing Mercury’s two-plus months in Libra (From Aug. 27 to Nov. 2) a fresh start.

All of which leads to to the grandmother of fresh starts just before 8:06 pm EDT Monday (00:05:40 UTC Tuesday): a New Moon. In this case the Moon will catch up with and symbolically merge with the Sun at 19+ Libra. That will be right after both of the luminaries have have been emblematically recharged by an opposition to galvanizing Uranus, which is on the other side of the zodiac in Aries.

The axis from Libra to Aries implicitly represents relationships, which go through cycles of their own. Hence at least one apparent theme presents itself with the Libra New Moon next week: how to handle those cycles.

The key to handling cycles of relationship is to see that they really are without end. That’s true regardless of whether the relationship in question is between you and another person, you and a group of people, or with life itself. For in every relationship’s end there is either proof or strong evidence of a simultaneous new beginning leading into a new phase of continuity.

It is only attachment to maintaining stasis that makes endings appear to happen. Such attachments are understandable. It’s only human to want good times and good relationships to last forever. Yet, only a small exercise of imagination allows you to see that even the shortest cycles do last forever — because no subsequent cycle will ever be quite the same.

Neither does it take much thought to understand that any cycle brought to a standstill would not be good news at all. Wanting any one moment to last forever is not only impractical, it’s counterproductive. Even the finest moment of your life would lose meaning if there were no other moments to compare it to. It is only by seeing the connection with all others that your connection to any other can be understood and appreciated.

And in that understanding is a through-line that is anything but straight. Rather, all lines in reality inevitably curve. And only through that curving (and the cycles brought forth) is connection made possible.

So it is that with each connection comes a new cycle. With each cycle then comes a renewal. With each renewal, endings instantly become beginnings in a world that is part of a solar system, which in turn is part of a universe — which, in its every part and every expression, never fails to indicate that each and every being, thing or moment (as well as the greater whole) is, in fact, without end. It is, instead, continuously with any and all else.

With this I am reminded of why I am here. In everyway.

And you, so beautifully demonstrate, that within us (without proof), we can only see and find the invisible, the potential of new form; re-creation.

    Thank you Len, as always.

Thanks again Len, I can’t help but wonder if the little Trickster Mercury’s upcoming 2nd crossing over transiting Logos and the U.S MC isn’t tied to Kevin McCarthy’s change-of-heart on becoming Speaker of the House. As Mercury is stationing right now, he is quincunx the centaur Nessus at 0+ Pisces, who is retrograde. Melanie Reinhart tagged this centaur with the expression “the buck stops here” and just maybe Mercury’s “shift” due to this quincunx implies an end has come to the role of Speaker as we have always known it, or just another cycle end and new beginning.

Perhaps, it’s even about a larger cycle regarding the structure of the U.S. government becoming unraveled and this is just the first (obvious) step. With both Nessus and Chiron accompanying Neptune in the sign of Pisces, there is a process of dissolution or dismantling taking place. It just seems to me that with Mercury’s 2nd conjunction with Logos, during this period of emphasis on “opening up” emotionally (full moons in perigee), an example effect of that being the Pope’s visit, that Mercury’s double conjunction with the TNO who symbolizes the rational and reasonable thought process, while riding the U.S Sibly chart’s MC, is an attempt (directive even?) to find balance between the masculine/feminine principles and/or consciousness. It’ time to do “both/and” rather than “either/or”. What do you think?

The pre-dawn sky was astonishingly beautiful this morning with both Venus, Jupiter and the Moon in a delicate curve, close to each other but not touching. It was a sight which I’m sure will stay with me forever precisely because it is extremely unlikely that I shall see this exact configuration again.

Thank you, Len, for once again putting our lives, the beautiful cosmos in which we find ourselves, and the relationship between them into perfect perspective.

Silly old me, it was Mars, not Jupiter in the line-up I saw this morning. Jupiter was still just below the horizon. Another fine example of Mercury’s retrograde trickery, I’m thinking. Oh well, it’s nearly over, and it hasn’t detracted one iota from the majestic sight I witnessed. Readers west of the UK would be well advised to set an early alarm.

Geoff, up here at 52 degrees North, I happened to see the pre-dawn sky today also – yes, it was spectacular.

Len, thank-you for an abundance of insight & food for reflection here. At first read, what I noticed was that the new moon will be conjunct my natal 5th house Jupiter/Chiron, hence squaring my 1st house Saturn. Time to get on with a piece of artwork I’ve had on hold while busy outdoors? Probably. Others are counting on me to get it done.

The older I get, the more clearly I can perceive the cycles of most parts of life. It surely helps with perspective, & with patience.

And be, yes! “both-and” seems to be our only way forward – Canada too has become polarized by “either-or” & it’s destructive & divisive. May we be able to integrate the Libra energies well while the opportunity is with us.

Indeed, I hope so Bette. Recall Len’s article titled “Hooking Up” on July 31st, when I pondered the meaning of transiting Uranus and Haumea reaching the midway point in their cycle, their opposition, as trans. Haumea was conjunct the U.S Juno and trans. Uranus was conjunct the U.S Chiron. Len was talking about transiting Venus having just reached 0 Virgo and was stationing retrograde, having made one conjunction to trans. Jupiter out of the 3 conjunctions they would have before their new cycle would officially be underway.

Transiting Uranus and Haumea also started their cycle with 3 conjunctions back in 1962-63, all at 1+ or 2+ Virgo. In a couple of days trans. and now forward-moving Venus will cross over those degrees of the beginning of the Haumea and Uranus’ cycle, on her way to her 3rd and final conjunction with transiting Jupiter, exact on Oct. 25th. What makes this especially notable is that at the Haumea-Uranus cycle’s half-way point, their opposition to each other took place in the same degrees as where the U.S. Sibly chart’s opposition between Chiron and Juno lays.

Trans. Haumea to U.S. natal Juno suggested a new and special birth (Haumea) forthcoming regarding all things to do with inequality (Juno). Trans. Uranus to U.S natal Chiron suggested a healing (Chiron) awakening (Uranus) and these suggested outcomes would come about in the U.S. through finding a balancing between the two opposing principles; natal Juno in Libra and natal Chiron in Aries.

This New Moon in Libra opposite transiting Uranus in Aries (the same signs of the U.S. opposition between Chiron and Juno) will see transiting Venus crossing over the degrees where the Haumea-Uranus cycle began in 1962-63. At 3+ Virgo, Venus, the ruler of the Libra New Moon, will sextile the U.S. natal Venus at 3+ Cancer, providing an opening for harmonious discussions on many topics, as well as her invigoration of the energies embedded in the Haumea-Uranus cycle. A “both-and” opportunity it would seem.

Trans. Uranus himself, opposite the Sun-Moon in Libra, is also only about 4+ degrees from transiting Eris (who seems to forever be in a quincunx with the U.S. Neptune in Virgo) who, as luck would have it, is in a perfect opposition to transiting Haumea. Eris/discord in Aries trying to balance with Haumea/sacred birth/ in Libra. (U.S. House Republicans come to mind!)

In any case, we can conceive of a breakthrough (thanks to Uranus) in many stalemates around the world at this New Moon in Libra. As for the U.S.A., transiting Ceres at the New Moon will be conjunct the U.S. NATAL Pluto at 27+ Capricorn, and even they (Ceres and Pluto) came to some accord over Persephone’s rightful place. Last and not least transiting Pluto (opposite U.S. Sun) and transiting Jupiter (soon to finalize the start of his cycle with trans. Venus) are in a trine aspect with each other, and Jupiter is sextile the U.S. Sun. The gods and goddesses are giving us a break, and lots of us are praying we are smart enough to take it and run with it. Good luck with your artwork Bette!
