Know your bottom line: what you positively require to feel right about where you’re going, and what you’re willing to negotiate. This will be easier with some type of spiritual practice, anything that helps you feel more balanced and grounded. To find peace amidst the chaos is an act of power, and those able to hold that space for others are doubly blessed. Devotion and commitment to something greater then yourself can play a pivotal role in navigating whatever challenges may arise over the coming year.

Today the Sun enters free-spirited Sagittarius (at 9:59 am EST), following the Moon’s early sign change into Libra. Both of these should dial down considerably any intensity you’ve experienced over the last few days, and help smooth any ruffled feathers. Take a deep breath — now you can begin to shift your focus once more to the onward road. A change of scene might help, even if it’s only to the cafe a few blocks away, or the next town.

Vesta, still on its retrograde through Taurus, will also form a trine aspect to Saturn in Capricorn. This is a connection that’s all about work and devotion. If you want to make headway with an ongoing project, and you’re willing to put in the elbow grease, this aspect might not drive your engines but it should clear the path.

With the Sun’s presence in Sagittarius we should also begin feeling the good-vibe conjunction between Venus and Jupiter in that sign, which will be exact on Sunday. These classic ‘benefics’ in optimistic Sadge meet at the Galactic Core, joined by the centaur Ixion. Eric wrote about this aspect in last Sunday’s subscriber issue. This influence culminates at the same time that Mars exactly opposes Uranus, on the 24th. Such contrasting dynamics occurring together may describe the inspired energy necessary to break through log-jams to achieve a more ideal condition. Just be aware of the difference between action that serves a positive purpose, and impulsive risk-taking or carelessness.

Keep taking tangible steps to improve your finances, and at the same time, remember your resources come in many forms other than money. Now would be a fantastic time to take an accounting. You will benefit from knowing how much you’ve got, and how valuable it is. In doing so you will stoke the sensation of abundance, and that will, in turn, lead to more abundance. As for opportunities of what to do with that wealth, or who to do business with, give that time to develop. Learn to be with the potential of who you are, without having to discharge it in any particular direction. This is the time to fully own and appreciate your resources. In a sense, I suggest you identify with them, in that you observe the extent to which what seems to be yours is actually a reflection of you.

You seem to have completed a rite of passage of some kind, and emerged with greater self-awareness, and more of your innate power at your disposal. Whatever you set your sights on should be within your ability to achieve, but an element of community engagement is indicated. You have something to share that others need; friendships may have languished that you’ll do well to rekindle. Balancing your fierce independence with social involvement will call for discrimination, sensitivity and discernment, but worth the effort.

Since Mercury is still getting up to speed, and with the Sun in the final degree of Scorpio prior to entering Sagittarius tomorrow, things may continue to feel somewhat edgy. Especially since Mercury is under the influence of Mars, now also in Scorpio. Mars is fierce in its own sign, and moving into opposition with Uranus. Mars opposing Uranus is a volatile face-off that can trigger impatience, resentment and impulsive rebellion. This high-octane aspect won’t be exact until Sunday, but the energy is palpable and will build in intensity.

The potential up-side to Mars opposite Uranus in Taurus is the impetus to shake up long-standing fixed patterns that have impeded progress. To reap those rewards, proceed with deliberation and avoid unnecessary risks. Careful attention and mindfulness are always advised during a Mercury storm phase, and this week calls for particular awareness. Caution in any potentially hazardous activities and sensitivity in relating to others are called for. Take as relaxed an approach to the day as possible and strive to make good use of your time. The sense of satisfaction will help wind down tension.

Also, continue to keep your ears peeled, and be careful of jumping to conclusions until you’re sure you have all the relevant information. It could be all too easy today to form an opinion that doesn’t take into account all the facts.

Financial issues come into focus now: you’ve reached that critical point where you know the only solution is going to come from applying some serious focus to the question. Think like a scientist, which means methodically. Don’t worry about solving all your problems at once — you’re approaching the time when you finally develop the long-anticipated permanent solution. Consider the following four to five weeks as an experiment in discovering something vital: what is and is not important to you, in this latest incarnation of your life. You thought you knew, but I don’t suggest you assume anything; your priorities have changed, owing to the full-strength maturing process you’ve endured the past couple of years. Some days this has been as much fun as having your leg in a cast, but it’s about to come off.

Self-discoveries you make this year could be game-changing, and fill in some missing pieces on a project you’ve had in mind, or help you hone long-term goals. You’re entering a high-energy phase, and steps taken now to further your interests may have far-reaching effects. Self-expression is highlighted: writing or educational prospects can bring a fulfilling sense of achievement. Do your own thing as much as possible, but give others their due. Respect and sensitivity with partners goes a long way.

Mercury stations direct today at 2:12 pm EST in Scorpio. As ever, during the few days around the station (known as Mercury storm, when its apparent speed is slowest), things could still be a little awkward and stilted. Mercury storm has this quality because reversing course, figuratively or literally, takes a good deal of effort, especially if there’s momentum involved. Think of a large ship switching its engines from reverse to forward thrust, churning up the water, and you have an excellent image for how your mind (and the minds of others) may be feeling.

The Moon today continues its journey through Virgo, which potentially adds to the tension, and could result in frayed nerves or tempers. It’ll help if you avoid getting into situations where you know you could be provoked. Consider alternative ways in which you might expend some energy — preferably creative or fun.

When you encounter others over the next few days, listen carefully and observe in detail what is being said and what may be unsaid, felt or implied. Don’t make assumptions or act on guesses; just gather the information and offer a non-judgmental presence.

Mercury has finally let itself loose and is now moving in direct motion in Scorpio. This may come with the slow unraveling of certain problems, hang-ups and emotional stiffness. However, even as these circumstances work themselves out, you need to pay attention to what is bubbling up from the deeper levels of your being. I know you would rather take the opportunity to feel better and move on, though I suggest that instead you feel better and go deeper. Work with the idea that every effect has a cause — and you’ve just experienced some unusually powerful effects. That suggests that there are some equally powerful causes working themselves through you and out to the surface. Rather than being a passive player, go toward the source of the energy and discover what is there. You’re likely to be surprised — it’s not what you were thinking.

After a period of lying low, you’re finally ready to emerge, take charge and put yourself out there. You can accomplish a tremendous amount this year, and make quite an impression on those you work with. Just don’t be so assertive that you run others over. Take time to consider what you want to express, and keep your sensitivity radar tuned to the environment. Some kind of higher wisdom is trying to get through, so pay attention. What you receive can feed your soul, widen your mind and strengthen your sense of security.

Mars finally entering its own sign today will no doubt relieve some of the edginess that has dogged the past few days. A spring has been uncoiled, and if the world has seemed a little unreal recently things will now feel like they make much more sense.

The last quarter Moon also takes place later today, at 4:11 pm ET (21:11 UTC). Quarter Moon phases, when the Moon and Sun are in a square aspect, tend to signify a phase of action. You may be spurred to move forward on matters that have lain dormant or appeared somewhat impassable. However, it’s worth holding back a little on the momentum until Mercury has had a chance to switch directions, since the station direct almost always comes with a revelation of some kind.

Jupiter catching up to the Galactic Core may bring a revelation of a different nature. This rare conjunction in Jupiter’s own sign could denote a turning point, or new ideas emerging, in terms of spiritual orientation — like a compass enabling you to make a steering correction. With the Galactic Core, though, you need to make sure you keep records as your understanding changes, since the information obtained through this point has a way of disappearing into the ethers.
