To read Genevieve’s horoscopes, it helps to know your Moon sign (where the Moon was at the moment of your birth), which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. Often you can still get accurate Moon sign info even if you lack your exact birth time. You can also read these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional insight.
Next week’s Taurus New Moon looks simple on its surface: the Sun and Moon will not be making any squares or oppositions to major planets. Yet this chart still presents an image of great power and potential — and that’s before we even factor in that it’s a solar eclipse.
There is a strong indication that our ego-consciousness (Sun), emotions (Moon) and mental processes will all be working together with the added benefit of some deep psychic sensitivity and artistic energy, thanks to close aspects with Mercury in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces. You can expect to have a very instinctual response to anything that impacts you emotionally.
Taurus is noted for its love of sensual pleasures, beauty, material comforts and leisure — yet it is backed by strength, endurance and subterranean fire. When a Taurus wants to finish a job, it will, and often beautifully.
Now remember that this New Moon and solar eclipse is serving as a major bookend to this season’s peak astrology: the grand cardinal cross. Today — Tuesday, April 22 — we’re heading right into the peak moment for the grand cross. We’re not sure what it will mean yet. By the time the New Moon and eclipse rolls around one week from today, we may have a better idea, but this astrology will still be unfolding. For example, Mercury will be working with Pluto and Jupiter, offering optimistic yet sound judgment and the ability to change your approach from the ground up.
Consider also this note from the minor planet files: the Sun and Moon will be closely flanked by the asteroids Hephaistos and Toro — perfectly underscoring the themes of Taurus. Hephaistos was the Greek god of fire, metalworking, stonemasonry and sculpture. Toro, while it was named after an astronomer’s wife, echoes the Spanish word for ‘bull’ — as well as a popular brand of garden tiller.
This suggests that this New Moon and eclipse is less about the ‘cud-chewing’ side of Taurus and more about its power to break ground and bring forth material value in your life. Eclipses are pattern-setting events. This one has the potential to do so in very tangible ways — if you’re willing to put some muscle into it, get your hands dirty, and actually use the emotional and psychic information coming your way toward the beautiful life you desire.
Yours and truly,
Reader Feedback on my Recorded Readings
This is an excerpt of a letter that floated into my inbox this morning. It’s from someone who just experienced The Mars Effect annual readings, and apparently a few others. The Aries birthday reading is available now.
“I’m highly grateful for the work you do. All of the readings I have gotten from you have touched my Soul the Core of its very essence. I just ordered a Gemini Reading for my Other Half, aka Soul Mate. We both listened to the reading together this morning and it had such a profound effect in more ways than one; with this knowledge we become closer in knowing that we have the power to create a life of abundance and purpose. I’m thankful to you for sharing your gifts with Hue Manity and yes I did say Hue Manity.”

Taurus New Moon Moonshine Horoscopes | By Genevieve Hathaway
Aries (March 20-April 19) — Like a smith creating a tool in a forge, your inner sense of what you want and need are your anvil and hammer helping craft and shape your life. Notice how little force it takes to create what you desire. I’m not referring to force through actions, but rather how quickly what you want manifests in your life through letting your desire guide your actions and choices. Consider these desires as resources to build your vision for your life. Think of this internal sense of what you want in terms of having a clear vision for yourself and then applying that information to your decisions. Choices are presenting themselves — be selective in which opportunities you take. This will provide the time, energy and resources to act on what you most want to spend your time on. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Saturn has been in the sign opposite your Moon since October of 2012. This has shifted the landscape of how you show up in your relationships, though at times it may have felt more like you’ve been trying to squeeze through a tight bottleneck. There’s been a point of constriction in your relationships, pushing you to sort out what patterns are serving you and which are not. Next week the Sun and Moon are making an exact alignment in your Moon sign. The energy in your relationships is focusing on you. I don’t mean that in a narcissistic manner, rather the idea that all aspects of your life, including your intimate partnerships, are outgrowths of how you feel about yourself. Focus on feeling good about who you are, then notice the positive impact this has on the dynamics in your relationships. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Lately, you’ve been working through many questions about your creativity and how you apply it as a resource. For some time you’ve been collecting information and putting together the pieces you’ve gathered. Like assembling a puzzle, each clue has a spot where it fits into the larger picture and helps bring the image into focus. Over this week’s eclipse, you add the last few pieces and connect the dots of what you’ve been trying to figure out regarding how your creativity intersects with the larger world. This information comes from a place you may not have suspected — from inside of you. Your astrology looks like you remember information you’ve been carrying but did not see how it applied to your current questions until now. This may take courage to be honest and open with yourself. What you learn will be worth it. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Cancer (June 21-July 22) — A number of developments are forming quickly involving many people. The individuals entering your life at the moment may seem to have little in common with each other, though there is one common denominator and that is you. You are able to reach across what feels like distinct boundaries and draw these individuals to the same cause. I don’t mean manipulate anyone; rather you have the ability to gather people to you who have certain skills and then convey, in a compelling way, how they can contribute. By facilitating others’ sense of connection through being part of something larger than themselves, you are holding space for them to share and contribute what is unique to them. In turn, you claim and apply your own unique skills — giving yourself the same sense of connection you’ve provided to those around you. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Events in your work life are currently accelerating as a solar eclipse takes place this week in Taurus. This may come with a feeling as though someone punched the throttle to warp speed. A cascade of events in your work is calling on you to make what can feel like very important decisions — and in fact they are. At the moment you have options; I suggest not getting distracted by worry about making any wrong choices, rather let your inner sense of what is true for you guide your steps and actions. Trust that you have all the necessary assets and skills to succeed at the path you choose. You have the ability to be ‘all in’, which means you are fully present, applying all of your potential to any situation or goal. This will get you far in achieving what you set out to accomplish. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Part of what makes up the feeling of who you are is your belief system. Like unwinding tightly coiled ropes, you’ve been separating your viewpoints and what you value from beliefs and perspectives that were given to you by larger group influences. You can think of this as a moment of individuation, though it may feel more like radical honesty — with yourself and others. As your beliefs and values change, how you orient on yourself also evolves. Trust that those around you will respond to the new ways in which you show up. Your idea of who you are is evolving past what may feel like a point of no return. Going back to who you used to be is no longer a viable option; you are growing to a place of stronger relationship with yourself. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Recently, you’ve emerged from a bold transformation at the core of who you are. Your internal emotional framework healed a few old wounds and inner blocks. This left you feeling somewhat raw and exposed, as though a layer was removed and a new layer not yet grown in its place. I suggest giving yourself time and space to solidify after all the internal changes you’ve experienced. Provide yourself with the quiet time you need. Feed your body good food and plenty of water. By nurturing yourself, you are tending to these internal spaces that may still be sensitive. Tending to yourself places you in the role of being your own healer and caregiver. You are stepping into the position of authority in own your healing journey, which in itself is one of the steps to healing the emotional material you’ve been carrying. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Over next week’s eclipse in Taurus, you are turning a corner regarding an aspect of your relationships. This may have brought a questioning of how much you give to your intimate partnerships. I propose that this does not necessarily mean you want to leave; rather, the relationship needs to expand and stretch to make more room for all of you to be fully present. Proceed with a sense of a new beginning. You are in a position to renegotiate the terms. Focus on what you want, reining in any projections of what your partner may or may not desire. Stating your needs clearly will set the tone for a partner to do the same, responding in kind with what they need. A little creativity and willingness to think outside the traditional box will open more space for both your and your partner’s needs to be met. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — During next week’s solar eclipse in Taurus, you’ll be moving through what may feel like a doorway or into a distinctively different space. Your frame of mind regarding the relationship between your emotions and your physical self is pushing out and expanding. The astrology is pointing to a merger of these two aspects of you, though they have always been part of the same system. What is transforming is your perception of how your emotions and your physical self interact. I suggest viewing emotions and physical body as support systems for each other. Healthy emotions contribute to feeling physically strong, and taking care of physical health will help you feel centered in strong, positive feelings. Ultimately, you are building a set of health systems that will provide you a greater sense of deep emotional nourishment. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — A few projects you’ve been working on seem to be moving more slowly than you were expecting. As a Capricorn Moon you have the inner fortitude to stay the course and be patient, even with the slowest-growing fruit. But, there comes a point when you, too, need marked progress. The eclipse in Taurus is bringing just that — a burst of energy to your projects. Think of this moment as a catalyst, pushing the reaction — or in this case your project — forward. As a surfer waiting in the water with their board, be ready to catch this wave of energy. For you this moment involves taking an important step, an action or decision. It may come with a feeling of risk or daring, a clue that you are tapping into a high-energy moment of potential. Trust that you are prepared and ready for the opportunities presenting themselves. You are. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You’ve become accustomed to a life that consisted of much change. I would say it’s less ‘getting used to’ and more an acceptance that change is a constant in your life. This made it challenging to feel an inner sense of security, like you couldn’t put down internal roots for fear of having to pull them up when the next wave of change arrived. Your current astrology carries a message not to wait for a sign or approval to feel secure and established in who you are and what you are about. Let go of any idea that there will be a ‘right time’. Rather, construct a sense of security that stays with you regardless of any changes in your external situation. Really this is a question of feeling good about being you, letting that sense of self-worth be grounded in your very existence rather than in any external approval or response. — by Genevieve Hathaway
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — I pose a question — how powerful do you perceive your mind to be? More specifically, what is the influence of your thoughts on your life? You are in a moment of finding out. Think of next week’s eclipse as a mental paintbrush and your life a blank canvas. What do you want to paint, to create? The key is harnessing your thoughts as a tool. Know the kinds of thoughts you want and then apply discipline to build those mental patterns while clearing out the thoughts and responses that do not serve your vision. Take time over this week’s eclipse to reflect on the changes you would like to make in your life. Write these ideas down. Spend time with them. You are putting your mind to work as part of the equation of creating the life you want. — by Genevieve Hathaway
