Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, #980 | By Eric Francis
You seem to be experiencing boldness and hesitancy at the same time. The combination, if left unaddressed, could create delays and waste energy; there’s no point spinning your wheels to get nowhere. And you have plenty of places to go, and experiences you want to have. If you have any form of mixed feelings, take the elements in the mix one at a time and see what they are trying to tell you. See if you can notice your source. The self-assertiveness you’re feeling does indeed seem to be about you; the insecurity and hesitancy seems to be coming from somewhere else, perhaps even someone’s influence from the deep past. It would not vaguely surprise me if that turned out to involve another person’s religious baggage that was leaking into your environment. In plain terms, you don’t have to worry about what others will think. You don’t have to be pure or give the image of being ‘not a slut’ to project some kind of faux conservatism. What you feel is more meaningful than what anyone else thinks.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, #979 | By Eric Francis
The past is much closer than you may think, which means that resolving old problems and tapping into your reservoir of experience are also closer than you may think. You are working through a legacy that has been passed to you by prior generations; this is true of everyone, but it’s an especially vivid aspect of your life experience. Anything you have to say to your ancestors — parents, grandparents and beyond — say it now, whether these people are in-body or not. Consider the idea that some of the more messed-up people in your family line (particularly those who are deceased) are now aware of the problems they caused for you, and are willing to provide help from the ‘other side’. You will open up to that help if you remember that you are never dealt a disadvantage without some corresponding gift of power. It’s your choice what to emphasize.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, #978 | By Eric Francis
In Western culture only rarely do we seem to get beyond the equation “you are what you do.” But how far from the truth is that? Yes, doing can exist on several levels, for example, as affirmation of what you know, or denial of it. You seem intent to make your reputation in the world and you are poised to succeed in a very big way. You have likely heard hints or seen glimpses of what is possible, and you may be wondering whether you deserve the recognition, the privilege and the authority that you feel coming. There is no question here. Remember what you’ve endured, stay close to the raw emotional vulnerability that unleashed your potential, and remember that you’ve managed to keep your faith up till the moment it needs you most.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscopes — December 2013, #977 | By Eric Francis
Authentic creativity requires meltdowns, breakdowns, risks taken, the collapse of the known order and, sooner or later, total submission to the creative process. Well, not the creative process, but your process of birthing yourself into a new stage of your existence, which happens in tandem with what you create. As you go through this, you may have the sensation of betraying authority. That, in turn, could lead to the insidious feeling of guilt, intermingled with the pleasure of creation, liberation or sex, as if what you are doing is ‘so right but so wrong’. Here is a clue: It cannot be both. The right and the wrong you perceive are servants of different masters. So you need to ask yourself, who is the inner voice expressing disapproval (in the form of guilt or fear) and what is the source of the feeling that you really are expressing or exploring something meaningful? All the art in the world leads to this one theme: who has authority for the creation of your life and the expression of your life force? If it is ‘someone else’ then it would make perfect sense for you to feel bad about it. If it’s you, then it makes perfect sense for you to feel beautiful, perhaps a little shaken up, vulnerable and rather unusual.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 #976 | By Eric Francis
Hot, fiery Mars is continuing to make its way across your sign, though you seem to be getting a handle on how to work with this quality of energy. In a word, with precision. You’ve seen some of what happens when you lose your grip on your power tools. The first thing to do is remember that they are just that, and require that you handle them with skill, care and respect. This is particularly crucial between now and when Mars leaves your sign on Dec. 7, because it’s in a position where it has little or no external structure to contain it. Translated into human terms, for the next couple of weeks, you must be unusually self-regulated while not suppressing, or being afraid of, your own power. Work with a plan and a backup plan, follow basic safety and security protocols, and as Paul McCartney said, when you’ve got a job to do, you’ve got to do it well.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 #975 | By Eric Francis
You may be finding it especially easy to think what you might not ordinarily think, which is a hint that you can say what you might not ordinarily say. There is a rare condition in the sky right now involving Mercury (your ruling planet) and Mars (which is occupying your sign) that is allowing you to take multiple viewpoints simultaneously. For example, you might discover that you can speak from two or more distinct points of view, expressing yourself equally deeply, and coherently, from any of them. You may notice you have a similar listening skill, to hear anything related to you from a number of points of view. This will be helpful at getting you to transcend some of the intense criticism or self-criticism you may have been experiencing lately. Whatever you may think, there is always another point of view. There is always another way of looking at the world.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 #974 | By Eric Francis
There is little point trying to organize the mental details, an exact plan or trying to get control by collecting all of the information that’s out there. You’re probably feeling the inclination to exert your power that way, an impulse that can be better directed. There’s a very good point to knowing where you stand with yourself at all times, even if you don’t have words for it. In other words, the most vital information you can have is your own opinion, and what your intuition is telling you. You don’t need to know what everyone else thinks or what is motivating them; you merely need to know what is motivating you, and put that information to work. While you’re sometimes reluctant to trust your intuition if you don’t have some other form of data, you’re now in territory where your hunches can trump what seem like hard and cold facts. That’s the problem with them — their inflexibility. Notice that your intuition will keep you responsive to your feelings and your environment from moment to moment, updating you constantly.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #973 | By Eric Francis
Mars is making its way across your birth sign, and because it will take a long retrograde in your neighboring sign Libra, it’s moving through your part of the zodiac rather slowly. Where a planet is concerned, slow means potent, and where Mars is concerned, that means your ability to focus thought, intention and action. For part of this journey, Mars will be opposite Chiron, a planet closely related to Virgo; in an opposition, these two points come to full expression — which means that you’re likely to get actual results. Many other factors in your astrology are saying the same thing. It is therefore imperative that you decide what results you want, and focus your thoughts and intentions on them. You’re not accustomed to having this much power available to you, and it requires special handling — a bit like a power tool or welding torch.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #972 | By Eric Francis
You stand to benefit significantly from all manner of weird events that unfold over the next month or so. It may not seem that way, though I suggest the best strategy is to maintain your independence and stay out of the fray — until you notice that it’s the perfect time to make your move. The way the astrology looks, that’s going to be in the later innings; let the adventures, misadventures, games and dramas develop for a while, as you pull back and get the wide view. This is another way of saying maintain your independence, which may feel like being antisocial. What is currently passing for social among certain people you know isn’t exactly social, either — the more congenial mode (in the immortal words of the Grateful Dead) is to ‘take a step back/take another step back’. Give people space to be themselves, and give yourself space to be yourself. Perspective is everything. Observe the action from all angles. Yes, there are several ways to read the astrology indicating how personally you could take things, but you’ll feel silly if you take things personally and then discover in the end that it had nothing to do with you. Meanwhile — be optimistic. My dog-friend Jonah is a Virgo and whenever there’s any activity in the kitchen, he’s standing there wagging his tail. I would call that faithful expectancy.
Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 #971 | By Eric Francis
The arrival of Mars in your sign has helped take some pressure off of you, and has demonstrated that your worst fears were both unrealistic and untrue. What matters is what’s both true and connected to reality, and by that I mean what you can verify in documented fact. This will be critical over the next few days as Mars makes an opposition to Neptune, which may lead you to question things for which you have solid evidence and observations that are based on careful analysis. Remember — just because you may have a momentary doubt does not mean that you’re wrong, no matter how potent your insecurity may be. The best course of action is to keep an open mind for additional information and insight, while keeping your eye on the known data and what it points to. The Grand Canyon was not formed 6,000 years ago, no matter what some people think they believe.
The Oracle Horoscope, standing in for Weekly Horoscope 970, Oct. 11, 2013
Close partners seem to be of two minds — or perhaps two bodies, in that people who usually vehemently disagree seem to be singing from the same book of hymns. It may be that the passing of yesterday’s lunar eclipse has released the tension in the air like a good thunderstorm, or that people went so far into polarized directions on their opinions that they have finally started to meet on the other side of the house. Everything that seemed so incredibly important yesterday can now fade happily into memory. So don’t focus so much on the details that you miss the surreal nature of the moment, when the cat lays down with the mouse. Resist fits of jealousy as well — these people all love you.
Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 #969 | By Eric Francis
Think of self-worth as human currency that you can trade for other experiences and opportunities. Well, you don’t really trade it, because you’ll end up with more of the stuff when you’ve accomplished something meaningful to you. Yet it is similar to credit in that the ability to ‘pay’ for an experience (which means to come through for yourself, to stand up to a challenge or to learn something that enriches your life) is what keeps you in the game. Start with the strength to dare. Allow yourself to experiment with something you think is over your level of talent or ability, or that you might not have the confidence to try. Then go for it. I don’t mean to say that all self-esteem is based on what you achieve, but I will say that a significant dimension of it is. This is especially true if you achieve something you thought you couldn’t do or didn’t have the guts to dare. Then you allow that to become a life lesson — or said another way, something you learn about yourself.
Monthly Horoscope for October 2013 #968 | By Eric Francis
Treat joint finances and ‘permanent’ commitments with more care than usual. I don’t mean hesitancy — I mean scrutiny. Inaccuracies that slip into the mix, whether intentional (deception) or seemingly unintentional (overlooking details) or careless (skipping over due diligence) will cause problems in the future, so there is an added necessity to proceed with impeccability. With Mars soon to be in your sign that would not normally be an issue, though an opposition to Neptune is saying that your mantra needs to be ‘reality check’. Check the facts, investigate your doubts; if everything seems perfect, get another opinion; if you find a problem, solve the problem and then find two others to fix. The heart of the matter, however, is how you handle negotiations with close partners. This is especially true if you don’t know they’re negotiations. However any time there is an agreement on the table, especially if it involves money, pause, remember that you’re actually in a negotiation-commitment process, and then invoke your ‘reality check’ mantra. You need to take your time discerning the motives of the people around you. Even if your intuition gives you good information, make sure that you back it up with evidence collected from observation over time. When you’re dealing with Neptune, which you are at this time in your life, taking careful, dated notes is one of the most useful ways to stay awake
Inner Space Horoscope for October 2013 #967 | By Eric Francis
The Sun’s trek through your sign was certainly more than most people were expecting, and you may have been through more than you were planning. One theme from your birthday season continues — that your relationships are dependent on how you feel about yourself, but cannot properly be the motive for getting clear about your inner reality. That’s a work in progress — by which I mean both. It will be more helpful to your growth and happiness to emphasize relationships that are on level ground (friends, colleagues, creative partners) rather than the ones that involve submission, power and influence. After a while these will seem like two different games with different purposes. At this point in your life, the thing commonly called ‘romance’ may be a diversion — and fortunately, there are much better alternatives.
Pisces Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 17, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
This week’s Full Moon in Pisces is taking place in the area of the zodiac that is opposite your Moon sign. The sky is highlighting the dynamic between you and a close partner. Questions of whether your needs are being met may arise now. Getting your needs met in a relationship requires clearly stating what you want. Think of this in terms of having a clear internal ‘yes’ and ‘no’ and vocalizing that inner message. You can’t control how a partner responds, but you can at least ensure that they are operating with all the important information to fully support you. Consider this a work in progress, continually refining it as you and others explore what language conveys what you desire and what actions need to be taken. As you communicate some of your core needs, trust that partners are both listening and trying to meet them.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 #966 | By Eric Francis
Lately it’s as if you’ve been making your way along a narrow ledge on a tall building. While this would obviously be a tense situation, you seem to have a source of anxiety originating somewhere else. This is not about whether you’re right or wrong. You do so much of what is right that you should have no anxiety whatsoever. Here’s a personal question: have you considered the possibility that much of the background static that you experience involves your experience of your sexuality? This is a specific form of anxiety that psychologists don’t like to talk about that much, though not only is it real, it’s connected to the core source of vital energy — which is why it’s so powerful. This, in turn, is perhaps the most significant factor for determining a person’s self-esteem, particularly your own. Society sends many messages not to think about any of this, to focus on appearances and the supposed monetary value of your sexiness. What you experience over the next few days will reveal the value of going much deeper.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 #965 | By Eric Francis
You may be feeling extremely edgy, as if someone is following you with binoculars, or like everyone knows your secret fears. They don’t actually — you’re far more inscrutable than you think. What I suggest you guard against, meanwhile, is allowing others to dictate the terms of your relationship with yourself. This could happen over the next week or so as you find yourself moving through a series of challenging circumstances with colleagues or associates. What you have that they may lack (at least temporarily) is a sense of connection to the world; the priority that oneself is not the only thing that matters. If you find yourself in a disagreement with anyone, probe that as a possible source of the friction. You would be wise to associate with people who not only care about the world but who are actually doing something about it. Values are like talents — they are merely potentials until we put them to good use.
Virgo New Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
At the moment, a dynamic with a close partner is helping you heal a wound you’ve been working through for a while. This relationship is helping you internalize the idea that you can choose whether you focus on your imperfections or on your strengths. Like a flick of your wrist or stepping quickly around a corner, you can swiftly shift your mindset to emphasize the things you are doing right rather than any small imperfections. This requires a conscious choice in where you place your energy. Allow yourself the grace of not always meeting your own strict standards. You are your toughest critic. What is on offer is a healthier, happier emotional state.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #964 | By Eric Francis
If a situation seems to be running out of control, I suggest you adjust your perspective till you see it in such a way that it’s workable. You’ll be surprised by how much changes with your point of view. It is therefore essential that you keep your point of view portable, and that you not be driven by fear. If you get stuck, ask yourself what you’re concerned might happen. One thing to be mindful of is discerning fear from intuition. Fear usually describes an outcome you don’t want. Intuition usually describes how to create an outcome that you do want, or at least provides some useful information on how to prevent a negative outcome. Therefore, it’s essential that you recognize that worry is not a form of intuition, no matter how vivid it may seem. Keep a wide perspective — especially about yourself.
Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #963 | By Eric Francis
Exerting too much control is the best way for things to go out of control. I suggest that you embrace the uncertainty factor, especially the part about not knowing the impact people will have on your life, or the influence that you will have on them. One thing is for sure — that you and someone significant will shape one another’s experience and worldview. I can also tell you that the way to make this the most positive experience possible is to focus on communication. What feels like the impulse to take charge, get a handle on things or to attempt actual control will best be sated by an exchange of ideas. That’s the whole point, anyway — and what makes this such a positive opportunity. In order to do that, you will need to develop the skill of responding rather than reacting. There are instances when you may be seized by emotions that seem to demand the latter — and the best thing you can do is pause. If something, or someone, seems like it might hurt you, I would urge you to remember that your astrology is saying that no matter how polarized a situation gets, that’s unlikely. To sum up: communicate rather than control. Respond rather than react. One last: in any exaggerated situation, keep your sense of humor.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, #962 | By Eric Francis
It may seem impossible for you to describe your situation, though you’ll have clues coming in the form of your physical and mental health. The feelings, symptoms and conditions you may be experiencing relate directly to the material you’re trying to process. You do look a bit like the boa constrictor trying to digest an elephant. I would offer that whatever psychic material you’re working through is not entirely your own, or not yours at all. I don’t say this as a means of absolving your responsibility for dealing with it in some way. Rather, I offer this idea because it might provide you with the incentive to come up with a new strategy for how to do so, with this additional information. The fact that you’re the one facing the scenario gives you the choice for how to do so. You have figured out at least once, probably at least three times, that denial is not the answer — though it remains an appealing temptation. Events of the next few days will demonstrate clearly that there are much better options.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, #961| By Eric Francis
I suggest you proceed with caution, for example, as if you’re piloting a boat and you’re unsure how deep the water is. Slow down and stay close to the center of the channel. Put someone up on the bow to keep watch, because there might be random objects floating in the water. The most significant thing you must pay attention to is your own state of mind. Make sure that you do what requires alertness (driving a car, juggling chain saws, getting acquainted with a new person) with full attention. If you notice that your attention is lapsing, take a pause, a nap, a walk or get a good night’s sleep. One advantage you have is that information will be coming to you from non-ordinary sources, including what seem like psychic impressions, dreams and synchronicities. To sum up, you have a need for more awareness, and you also have more kinds of awareness to draw upon. As you do this, you may run into something, an idea, experience or obstacle that seems to violate your intuition. I strongly suggest that you not override what your ‘extra’ senses are telling you. But at that point, stop and collect evidence.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis
Is there a secret that you’re hiding from yourself? I don’t mean something you’re denying; I mean something you’re concealing from your awareness. Rather than looking for that thing, I suggest you look for the motive you might have. For example, if you fully consider something, what decisions might that lead you to make? If you admit something to yourself, what would you have to say to others about it? There may be some tension between your inner reality and the outer effects if you allow that to come fully into your consciousness. I would propose that the result of allowing your inner reality to the surface would be a form of strength and power that you’re not accustomed to, and that you might consider scary. But is it really? You will never know unless you allow it to happen.
Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis
Note the presence of a different kind of intelligence — the kind that does not run in circles or work against itself. It’s off the plane of mental cognition and accesses the level of direct knowledge. This kind of intelligence knows something is true, then figures out how it works in practical terms. As you get a feeling for this experience, you’ll shift your relationship to yourself, and could discover that you have access to something deeper, something that transcends the usual boundaries of what you think of as your mind. Your mind is indeed part of something larger. It’s only the idea that it’s not that prevents you from experiencing this directly. It’s therefore essential that you do the one thing with your mind that is eminently possible for anyone who wants to do so: keep it open. Then I suggest you observe the ways in which information comes in from modalities other than what you might normally consider to be thought. Actual creative thought is not bound by anything physical; it needs no grounding in experience or learned knowledge. It’s a truly generative experience. Yet to get there, you need to think of yourself differently, which first means noticing your prior limits and being willing to go beyond them. Limits serve the purpose of creating a comfort zone — one that you no longer need, and that I doubt you want.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 19, 2013, #959 | By Eric Francis
Sometimes when I write about being clear in one’s communication, I forget how much people struggle to express themselves, how daring it can feel and how fogged over so many minds are. I forget how little effort many people put into listening, even when something directly impacts them. I put all this to you right now. If you want to get anywhere, you must be clear with yourself; you must be clear with others; and you must listen to what is said to you, without making up any stories in the absence of real understanding. This may require you to have extra patience, to insist that others both be clear and have patience, and that you be willing to know what is actually true for you and for others without going into any form of denial. In our world that is asking a lot. But it’s not a lot if it’s the only thing standing between you and progress.
Aquarius Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You are working through a few realizations surrounding your dad’s inner emotional state and how it affected you growing up. Tension is likely building between his inner experience of existence and how grounded you feel emotionally. This new information will help you connect the dots concerning his emotional health and its impact on any internal splits you’ve experienced between who you are and who you show to the outside world. Take time to reflect on how this affected your ability to consistently feel like the ‘real you’. What you are doing through this investigation is dipping some old but still-hot wounds in soothing, healing waters. As you let this healing balm wash over you, let it also wash away the past, acknowledging that it did impact you but does not dictate how you experience your life in the future.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 12, 2013, #958 | By Eric Francis
Take some time and observe the dynamics among your friends. Your social environment is changing about as fast as you can keep up with it (probably a bit faster). It’s never been quite like this, and it is presenting you with nothing but opportunities. To see them for what they are will require thinking differently. To do that, it’ll help to see the world in a more creative way, seeing possibilities that others would overlook and most of all thinking bigger than you usually do. By bigger I don’t mean going from the 16-ounce size to the 24-ounce size; I mean by orders of magnitude. Go beyond ‘doing anything is really cool’ to seeing your limits and then seeing beyond them. I don’t think that these ideas are going to come directly from others, though you will see something in the patterns of how others relate, what they say and how their thoughts bounce off of one another.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 5, 2013, #957 | By Eric Francis
Be realistic about the promises you make and those that others make to you. Ideally, I would propose that you not make any commitments of your time, energy or devotion for the next few weeks, unless they are one-time gifts that you give in the moment. And I suggest that while others may seem like they want to be a benefactor, give that time and see how that works out in practice rather than in theory. Be prepared not to collect on anything you’re promised for the next few weeks. I don’t mean be cynical and expect it not to happen; I mean, just hang loose and see what develops. You know you have good things coming to you, and you can trust that they will be better than anything that happens to not work out in the immediate future. One enlightened way to look at this is to see the gift in everything and everyone. That includes the gift of being able to explore until you encounter a situation that works for everyone.
Cancer New Moon for Tuesday, July 2, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
A partner is applying some pressure for you to change your relationship to a group you are part of. I suggest slowing down and delaying taking any action; instead collect additional data and double-check the information they and you are working with. This partner means well, but they may not be operating with all the information or may be letting personal motives influence their perspective. Double- and triple-check all the motives of those involved. It’s possible something important is not being taken fully into account. Over the July 8 New Moon, new information will be available that will help you in making a decision about your relationship to your groups, and whether it is a mutually beneficial relationship. The key to look for is an arrangement that benefits both you and the group you are part of.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #956 | By Eric Francis
You have no control over how you’re perceived. You have some influence, but in truth, people believe what they believe and they often see based on their beliefs. Meanwhile, you’re a person on a mission — and from what I can tell, you’re entirely sincere. Part of taking up anything larger than yourself, or acting in ways that benefit others, can be the perception that you have some other motive. I could go over all the rationales behind this, but you probably know them. I suggest that you not let anyone’s opinion of you, or their perceived opinion, influence your dedication. Persist for just a little while and soon enough the simple reality of the situation will be obvious to everyone.
Daily Horoscope for Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | By Eric Francis
Mercury, your ruling planet, is stationing retrograde today, which may cause you to question whether you really fit in with the world. Yes, you’re different, and yes, you fit in, especially if you’re not afraid of how different you are. The equation of the planets works out to a resounding, “Be bold about exactly who you are.”
Daily Horoscope for Monday, June 24, 2013 | By Eric Francis
Over the next few days you may start to feel like you’re a magnet for attention but that others focusing on you is the last thing you want. Humor these people along; humor yourself along. Attention won’t get in the way of your introspection. Plus there’s an excellent chance you’ll meet someone who is asking the same kinds of inner questions that you are.
Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #955 | By Eric Francis
The many changes that come into your life include you stepping out in a bold new way, taking responsibility for your community and helping co-create your world in some special ways. Yet at the same time you seem to want to hide, to be invisible, to make sure that as few people as possible know who you are. It looks like you want to be counted on but you’re not sure about the commitment. You might have the notion that you don’t really want any unusual responsibilities, or to take any special risks. Yes, Virgo is one of the astrological masters of the inner paradox. Fortunately you have a few weeks to work this out, and make a commitment to yourself before things get really interesting. Here’s the thing to bear in mind. The astrology that’s guiding you out of your shell is a lot more powerful than the aspects that are drawing you back in. Plus, the thing about hiding out and not committing yourself to things you’re passionate about is more about your childhood than it is about your present life. Remember that there were some people who were threatened by how bold you could be, and others who set the example of how to be that outstanding person. So if you feel the impulse to be less, ask yourself who you’re trying to impress. If you feel the impulse to be more, to be free and to be truly alive, remember who your examples were — and who they are today.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 14, 2013, #954 | By Eric Francis
Unusual events may bring people together around you. They may be related to a personal goal you have; they may be related to a family situation. Therefore pay attention to when people are gathered, including spontaneous encounters. Meanwhile, on the professional front, this is the time to get your priorities in order, and to focus your vision. You’re looking at what may be the potential for a once-in-a-lifetime advancement. The scenario may not come to full fruition immediately; there may be a delay involved. What’s important is that you initiate the changes when you have the opportunity to do so, and that you think forward and not in reverse. The experience and even the idea of going forward are likely to bring up some concerns and attachments related to the past, though you have time to resolve those and work out the details. For a little while you will need to address matters of the future and the past with equal emphasis; maintaining a balance between the two is what will get you to your destination.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 7, 2013, #953 | By Eric Francis
Check whether your tendency to commit to multiple projects or professional endeavors is really working for you or the people you serve. This is the time to get your priorities in order. You may have a tendency to make decisions based on political expediency, that is to say, less on the basis of truth and more on the basis of what will grease the wheels, close the deal or please people in power. The other side of that kind of transaction is that someone else can lose in the process, which is usually considered a form of collateral damage. This is exactly what you want to avoid, because what happens now will have implications in the future, for good or for ill. This can be a time of tremendous achievement for you, if you do what is right. That does include what’s right for you — just make sure you keep your promises, and pause on making any new ones you’re not sure you can fulfill.
Gemini New Moon for Tuesday, June 4, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You are reworking an idea you’ve held for a while regarding the roles of work and passion in your life. You are coming up against something you were taught as a child that is causing you to question your approach to your career. What you are making contact with are a few outdated concepts that no longer serve who you have grown to be. Think of this New Moon as a chance to update your inner software, regarding beliefs your parents held and how they do not align with your own. Start there and work forward to what you believe today. The goal is an integrated concept: you give to your work by tapping directly into your passions. When the work you do to make money is based on your inner creativity, you fill a deep well of energy from which you can draw. As new options present themselves, you will continue to restructure this career/passion symbiosis.
Inner Space Horoscope for June 2013, #952 | By Eric Francis
As the month develops, you may feel like you’re swimming against the tide of social opinion, or perhaps more subtly, that you just start to feel different than the people around you. What I suggest is that you not try to prove yourself or allow any discussion to degrade into a power struggle. You have a right to be independent, particularly in your emotional response. Who is right or wrong doesn’t matter; what matters is that you’re at peace with yourself. If you recognize that there is only a limited extent to which anyone is entitled to an opinion about your life, this will be a lot easier. There’s also missing information, though you’re the one most likely to be ahead of the curve figuring out that the knowledge that’s coming will validate your hunch or point of view about what is right for you.
Monthly Horoscope for June 2013, #951 | By Eric Francis
Mercury, perhaps the most influential planet for Virgo, stations retrograde later in the month. As it moves in reverse (from our point of view on Earth) it will gradually form a perfect trine to Chiron in your opposite sign Pisces. In this we see an aspect that points to the bridge between friends and lovers. This reminds me of one of my favorite true jokes — when someone says they don’t have sex with their friends, I ask if they prefer to have sex with their enemies. Yet the intimacy suggested in this aspect applies to other facets of relating, perhaps highlighting what distinguishes a friend: in my view, the commitment to healing. I know there are many other definitions going around, and I would propose that this is not a word to use casually, but rather, to use thoughtfully. Your circle of friends is your circle of light. The people you call your friends are the ones with whom you share mutual support, and willingness to heal and grow. They are the people willing and openly offering to support one another. It may take you some time to apply this definition to the people around you and see who stands up to the test, though events this month will make it clear who qualifies. What will be more abundantly clear is that you do have friends, and one friend in particular who transcends all of the usual boundaries and is your companion on every level.
Sagittarius Full Moon for Tuesday, May 21, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
As you collect information during this weekend’s Full Moon, double- and triple-check the facts. There’s something you are trying to work with or get a handle on that is particularly slippery at the moment. I suggest being especially discerning about what you see, hear and think. Facts may be distorted, incorrect or only partial. As you investigate what’s coming to light, try to use multiple sources of information; double-check the story and the sources. Note where information seems incomplete or does not quite fit and dig a layer deeper. What you are gaining insight into is how certain family patterns and beliefs affected your attitude toward your career or the career you think you can have. As you work through this material, a number of new options will become available. Proceed with an open sense of curiosity; a willingness to try will get you a lot further than you may think.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 17, 2013 #950 | By Liam Carey
You know that the overall theme right now is change. Not just a little bit of change or anything, either, but some kind of epic, world-shifting alteration is underway and you are feeling empowered to try new things, think in new ways, and experience more of reality. Just remember, it’s not going to happen overnight. Step by step, day by day, and person by person, gentle persistence is your guiding principle, along with how to best use the energy that is available at any particular time. The energy right now is collection of information: data gathering, networking, communicating, and perhaps short-term travel. Through these lenses you will understand the options available to you in this process of re-creation. Searches like this have a way of stirring things to the surface that had been forgotten and you may encounter some memories that you must come to terms with. Trust your intuition if this happens and try not to over-think. Not only will you waste valuable time and cause a stir, but also you may miss the more vital message.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 10, 2013 #949 | By Eric Francis
You’re being invited into a new universe of possibilities, and to get there, it’ll help significantly if you leave a number of old beliefs and mental habits behind. Many of these look like some of the stereotypical self-critical Virgo issues, though as anyone born under your sign knows, that’s neither a myth nor a legend. Be aware of all beliefs that would qualify as hostile to yourself. These have had a way of turning into a religion, and you need a better one of those — one that’s worldly and practical and that has your happiness and success as its primary goal. Speaking of religion, I’ve often noticed the extent to which people underestimate the impact of religion. This can include what came by osmosis (from various sources, ranging from grandparents to movies to the Boy Scouts). I suggest you pay attention and inquire whether any vaguely negative or self-hostile thought doesn’t have its roots in a religious notion, whether you consciously chose it or not. It’s time for a mental purge of all such influences, which will help you discover what they’ve been hiding from your view.
Taurus New Moon for Tuesday, May 7, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You’re at your happiest when the little things in life are ironed out. When details are straight and your environment is orderly and those around you are appreciating how hard you work, you feel good. Yet, this can at times lead you to over-plan, or to place too much emotional attachment into details of situations. The specifics are important in life, but can’t provide an entire picture of the landscape of any series of events. Space is opening for you to access a greater perspective that allows you to appreciate the larger picture rather than focusing too much on the details. You can also think of this as giving yourself and others grace to move within nuances of developments rather than following a set script. Take note of how you feel when you test out this new perspective on the events in your life. What you are connecting with is a new philosophy based on a greater degree of acceptance for the imperfections in the world — it isn’t just a new viewpoint but also a resource enabling you to apply greater flexibility to situations.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 3, 2013 #948 | By Eric Francis
Be patient and you won’t have to be patient for long. It may seem like you’ve been waiting forever for something tangible to materialize relating to a long-desired goal; and the tangibility factor is exactly what’s in the process of developing right now. What’s going to help you the most is focusing on that thing that seems to be the most intangible to many — faith in yourself. This may be a point of conflict for you right now; you may think you have a mixed record of accomplishing what you set out to accomplish, though I suggest you not dwell on that. What matters the most is that you learn from what you consider your successes and your supposed failures, because the information that you synthesize from both sides of that equation is what will help you the most. One of the reasons this thing called failure is so important is that it’s evidence of taking risks. Those experiments can produce plenty of information, and no matter what the supposed topic, it’s applicable to anything else you may do.
Inner Space Horoscopes for May 2013 | By Eric Francis
Though you’re a mutable (easily changeable) sign, you may be figuring out the extent to which you have some fixed beliefs that are not helping you. It’s one thing to have values to guide your life. It’s another to live in rigid belief systems that make it difficult to adapt to the realities of existence on the planet. If you find yourself struggling with anything (such as sexual guilt, confusion about someone you desire, or acting in ways that are designed specifically to please others), I suggest you consider what fixed beliefs are influencing those experiences. Some old idea of what is supposed to be right and what is supposed to be wrong is simply not working. Note, those ideas come from somewhere; you didn’t make them up. But whether you continue to carry (or drag) them around is another matter — a matter of choice.
Monthly Horoscopes for May 2013 #947 | By Eric Francis
Your charts are calling for you to develop a longterm strategy — and to let go of a set of plans that are no longer valid based on your new goals. You may have a specific goal that keeps slipping out of your mind, something you know you want to dedicate yourself to, then you go back to an old scenario. You probably know exactly what this is; the challenge is that it would lead you to make many other changes, which you don’t necessarily know how to make, or have the energy to initiate. In order to slip out of the gravity of the past, begin with your mind. Begin with the idea. Then take some step to bring the idea into form. Then, size up your life and your environment and begin to sketch out your plan. Overall, you need a slow, steady and extremely persistent approach. Yet the key factor is remembering what you want to do, and then doing it, and remembering what you no longer want to do and not doing that. Getting out of old patterns and into new ones takes some persistence, and fortunately you have that going for you. The sooner you start — no matter how modestly or slowly — the more time you will have to establish the new pattern. Then when the coming eclipses do their work, events will help you not just focus and develop that pattern, but also cultivate the essential ingredient of faith in yourself. That’s the thing; that’s the skill you want.
Scorpio Full Moon for Tuesday, April 23, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
Lately, an agreement you’ve been negotiating may have felt particularly chaotic or confusing. Communication that normally would be clear seemed to go awry. You have many tools in the form of language to clear up the arrangement. This will call for a mix of precision in what you say, at the same time allowing for misunderstanding as others try to get clear. Clarify the grey areas in your own thinking, and know what you’re saying and feeling as you guide others. Working from a clear place will help others do the same. Don’t skip steps or leave out what you know is vital information — that could lead to further miscommunication and confusing agreements. Proceed in small, concrete steps, rather than trying to rush communication to resolve the chaos. This approach will help you make significant progress in straightening out misperceptions.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 19, 2013 #946 | By Eric Francis
This may be the weekend to renegotiate your relationship agreements. The topic may come up on its own, or you may need to bring it up, in the context of recent events. The first thing to remember is that everything is negotiable. The second thing to remember is that there is a solution that can work out well for everyone, and you can find it — if everyone agrees. Short of that, you must do what you need to do in order to be free to live your life. You’re not a subsidiary of anyone, you’re not indentured and you’re not a slave to money or any other form of resources that might come from someone else. You are, however, free to use shared resources in a way that’s mutually beneficial and creative. I suggest you set no less of a standard for how you can conduct your life. Yet you have far broader horizons than you’ve admitted to yourself recently, and I think that will be your true source of motivation.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 12, 2013 #945 | By Eric Francis
You may be feeling released from a bogged-down relationship situation for the first time in months. This may involve a person, it may involve a pattern or it may involve a feeling. It’s gone on so long you may have forgotten that other possibilities are available. You’re now being presented evidence of many, many other possibilities, including a big reminder about the whole notion of change and why it’s a good thing. There is nothing wrong with stability, but worshipping stability in service of fear is indeed a toxic psychic factor. One way to approach your current moment is how it’s a study in agreements. Every relationship is about mutual agreements on one level; what you’re discovering about yourself is that you have some genuinely original ideas about what works for you. You may also have a parallel idea that those things won’t work well for others, though I suggest you drop that prejudice and assert yourself. Ask people you meet what is true for them, and tell them what is true for you — without delay or hesitation.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 5, 2013 #944 | By Genevieve Hathaway
A current agreement requires something you know well — attention to the details. I suggest taking extra care to shape, craft and fine-tune an agreement before acting on the contract or arrangement. The energy at the moment is pushing for action; in this climate you could move too quickly and miss an important piece of information. Slowing down the process enough to notice the intricacies will give you a chance to fully understand the entire landscape you are working in. Take it slowly enough to collect all the details, then double check those details and facts. You possess enough creativity and ingenuity to come up with an arrangement that is beneficial to all involved. Trust that you are able to make a good decision involving a particularly tricky part of the negotiation.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2013 | By Eric Francis
You have learned a lot about how other people perceive you, and you’ve learned just as much about how you perceive them. Have you got the message that it’s all just perception? One thing that’s clear is that being able to perceive from multiple viewpoints is better than perceiving from just one. A moving point of view is at least a reminder how tenuous the senses and one’s opinions can be. Yet you’re always better at least paying attention, and being sensitive to the perspectives of people close to you. You’re likely to have many occasions this month to use what you’ve learned all through this year. You’re also likely to forget what you learned, so I suggest you pause and think carefully if a relationship situation, financial deal or some matter involving any form of shared resources heats up. You’re likely to perceive those involved as being impetuous and self-centered, and you may be right. But to get past that, you will need the information that you’ve learned and the strength that it gives you. True, it’s a subtle form of strength, but knowledge is indeed power. If someone is asserting their will on you, or playing a kind of hardball competitive game, you’ve really got two choices. One is to go blow for blow. The other is to use your mind, study and understand the situation in a whole way, and begin negotiating. You have the ability to turn the whole scenario not just in your favor but also into a situation where everyone comes out ahead.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 15, 2013 #942 | By Genevieve Hathaway
The area of your chart involving relationships is located in Pisces. This implies that satisfying relationships for you include flexibility, creativity and great emotional depth. At the moment, you are looking to receive more of these traits from a close partner. I suggest starting with an honest conversation with yourself about your most important relationship needs, and which needs truly must be met for you to be happy. As you get clear on the importance of these needs in a partnership it will be easier to communicate them to a partner and easier to draw the metaphorical line in the sand if they aren’t met. In any conversations, I would recommend sticking to larger ideas rather than nitpicking the details. Hold space for a partner to do the same. What is on offer is a restructuring that helps you build partnerships in line with your most authentic desires.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 8, 2013 #941 | By Eric Francis
You may not know where you stand with a relationship for a few weeks. Remember though that the information you’re waiting for is coming from you, not from someone else. You may think you’re waiting to figure out what they want, or what is happening with the relationship. What you really want to know is how you feel and where you stand. Don’t assume you know that today, because your opinion could change several times between now and when the Sun leaves your opposite sign Pisces on March 20. And even then, you may still feel like you’re standing on a shifting foundation. If you keep coming back to the same feeling and the same basic analysis day after day, that’s something to take careful note of. That said, you’re likely to make a series of discoveries, particularly around the time Mercury changes directions on the 17th, which will very likely serve to shift or evolve your point of view. Remember that the new information is likely to obviate old information and therefore, your prior point of view. Keep your files current.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 1, 2013 #940 | By Eric Francis
You seem to be trying to sort out your relationships, though have you considered that this is a great time to be lost in the midst of them? By that I mean that they don’t need to make sense, they don’t need to stay the same and you don’t need to adhere to any one person or concept of what a relationship is. I know how nervous living this way can make some people feel — like they have no boundaries. The thing is, most people’s rules (which are like pretend boundaries) are so rigid that sooner or later they end up frustrated (or drunk) and throw them away and wing it. So while you’re exploring, be mindful of how you feel. Speaking of alcohol, have some ideas about what decisions you’ll make when this stuff is in the environment or in your body. Know where you are and what you’re doing there. Make sure you say yes when you mean yes, no when you mean no, and maybe when you need some time to think about it (those are the most useful boundaries anyone can have).
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for March 2013 | By Eric Francis
You could easily be overwhelmed by the astrology that seems to be making you the focus of attention, or drawing others to you as if you’re some kind of human attractor beam. You might feel an urge to resist or rebel against this, preferring instead to maintain your sanctity. I would encourage you to do nothing of the kind, but instead to pass through this creatively rich territory willingly, absorbing the nutrients, the experiences and the diversity of the people around you. Indulging in the pleasure of people and of life is often a matter of trust as much as it is of willingness. Many miss out on numerous one-time opportunities due to their unexamined fear, which can be mistakenly thought of as ‘not being ready’. It’s true that you often prefer to keep a lower profile and have your life be less chaotic than you think it would be were you to open yourself fully to existence. I suggest, however, that you ask yourself sincerely whether this policy has served you well. Now is the time to advance rather than retreat. It’s the time to relate, even though you always have the option of being a hermit. You may worry that some aspect of your purity will be compromised by doing this, which is exactly the point. You are creatively fertile, and some potent creative forces are willing to fertilize with you. When that happens, something new will be born — something in you and in the world.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 #938 | By Eric Francis
You’re in one of the most interesting times for relationships that you’ve been in for a long time, though I have a suggestion: make sure you drop the capital R from that word, and maybe leave the ‘ship’ behind. Your life is now about relating, a verb, an action, which means making contact with others, and exploring that contact. I know that many, many people are on the hunt for the soulmate and/or the life partner and/or the perfect match as a thing or an endpoint. I suggest you let that go, if it describes you in any way — and relate to everyone more or less the same way, as you. I know this is not easy for anyone, like the guy who once stood up at a workshop given by one of my teachers who said, “I tried being myself, but it was too hard, so I went back to the old way.” But that was a while ago; we have all evolved, and I would add one point. It’s going to be easier for you to be yourself than anything else. It’s more fun. And there is no going back to the old way.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 #937 | By Eric Francis
Certain relationship situations seem to be at a boiling point, and you may feel like people are transgressing your boundaries left, right and center. It’s up to you, therefore, to be the gatekeeper in your own life. The challenge here is about your emotional investment in those who might cross some line that you may not have clearly articulated. To speak up may feel like you’re betraying someone. This is a form of codependency not often called what it is, mainly because it’s considered normal behavior. It may be normal but it’s not helpful, particularly to you. I suggest that you get clear with yourself about what you want and don’t want. Then make sure that others know your position before they act on some other assumption. The key is before, not after, so I suggest that — though it might seem difficult — you get your situation sorted out. As for the betrayal piece, it’s not true — it’s a holdover from another era of your life. The only person you have to worry about betraying is yourself.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 #936 | By Eric Francis
Be careful what you say, and be mindful as you interpret what you hear. Take conversations slowly, especially at work — there is significant potential for misunderstanding. It’s one of those situations where the more you analyze, the less you may actually know. Meanwhile, passions are running high in your environment, so there’s added potential for things to get weird. Therefore, take a minimalist approach. I would advise against trying to solve anything or fix anyone; this is a moment to adapt and lay low for a few days. It’s definitely not the time to take people on their word, though it’s not an especially great time to doubt them either. It’s an excellent time to put most discussions on hold, sniff around for missing information and see what comes out in the wash. Resist, evade, avoid or eschew your impulse to state your opinion anywhere but in your journal — at least till early next week. Especially at work. Meanwhile, if you’re involved in a matter of personal healing, focus on the mind level first. Don’t take the opinions of others too seriously, till you have your own facts correct.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis
Though opportunities for personal exchange abound, I suggest you focus on your work and profession at least half the time, or more. Yes, you have unusual social encounters coming, and a deepening of relationships with new as well as existing people in your life. Yet there is not a strict difference between these two facets of your life, and any interesting person may become either a creative partner, or a personal contact. Listen to where people are coming from, and keep your focus on the theme of your actual purpose in the world, rather than any diversion from your purpose. Focus is a theme that will develop in some interesting ways over the next few seasons, and I suggest that it be your one-word motto.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis
The planets seem aligned to reveal just how much someone in your life means to you, despite any challenges that may exist in the relationship. The situation looks like the perfect setup for healing, though if you miss that particular point (for example, by getting caught in any drama, or by misinterpreting someone’s desire for you as a form of aggression), you may find yourself in an unnecessarily complex situation. It will be helpful if you use your intuition and anticipate someone’s needs in advance — or use your experience with them and remember where they are coming from. It’s not up to you to fix anyone, but it will serve both your purposes and theirs if you hold open the space for their emotional process. This may feel like you’re going against the grain of your personality, though that’s exactly what you need to do for the benefit of making space for your own emotional process. By offering your empathy to someone you care about, you’re learning to offer your empathy to yourself. This really is a case of ‘you cannot give what you do not have’. In this situation, trust will be one of the most meaningful forms of empathy, including allowing the space for someone to change their mind a few times without deciding that they are trying to deceive you in some way. I don’t think that’s true; there are deep, potentially ambiguous feelings involved, though this does not dampen your love in any way.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 #934 | By Eric Francis
You are certainly managing to stay busy. The key is staying healthy. To this end, I suggest you note the close connection between your mental state and your state of health. You are the living incarnation of psychosomatic: the mind influences the body. This is associated with having Aquarius on your 6th house, the house of health and work. Mars is now moving through this region of your chart, and that’s an indicator to take care of your mind, which means to observe your mental state and to back down from your efforts when you start to overheat. You may want to do this preemptively and focus on certain points of conflict that have come up the past few weeks, and work them out while they are obvious and are still motivating you. Over the next few days, you may get the feeling that you were missing something obvious. And if you get that feeling and get that something obvious into focus, then I suggest you do what you know you need to do about it.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 #933 | By Eric Francis
Loosen up a little and you will be a lot happier. You need a more playful outlook; I think naughty is the word. I suggest you stop asking if you’re ‘in integrity’ and realize there is only so much that can go wrong, under your present plan; the world will not end if you have more fun. Yet you may have to consciously set aside attachment to the fun you didn’t get to have, that you opted out of or that ended way too early. I know it’s difficult not to have some feelings for what you sincerely regret, though it’s likely to get in the way of what you can experience now — and there is plenty being offered to you. What all those opportunities for fun have in common is the need to take some kind of chance. I don’t mean walking along the ledge of a skyscraper, though it may feel that way sometimes; I mean an emotional risk, such as entering a vulnerable situation where you have the potential to get hurt. Yes, it could happen, but it’s less likely if you’re conscious of your environment. It’s the vulnerability that will allow in the sense of contact and pleasure.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis
It sometimes takes a push for you to break free from your cautious or retreating nature and take a chance. I’m not even talking about a very big chance; I mean breaking free of a familiar pattern long enough for something new to happen. Well, you’re in a heck of a moment to establish something strong, solid, original and genuinely creative. It’s as if your life cracks open and is revealed to be an egg, from which something truly beautiful hatches. That something would be you, with newborn passion for your presence on the planet and what you came here to do. Who needs enlightenment when you can devote yourself to having fun, in connection to a useful purpose? I recognize you have too many memories of living ways other than this, though they seem to be fading fast.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis
Cooperation is supposed to be the hallmark of human society, though in our time of distract, divide and conquer, that’s becoming increasingly challenging. Your job for the seasons ahead is to be the facilitator of group effort. I don’t mean people pleasing, or politicking, or diplomacy, though you will need all of those skills. What you’re doing is more along the lines of asserting yourself, and taking a central role in the process of organizing others. It’s more the Virgo style to be organized; that remains true. Worrying yourself with what all these other people are doing, or must do, can be a bother. You may have the temptation to be bossy, but that will only work on a few occasions, and it might get you into some trouble. What will work a lot better is facilitating communication. This will require listening first, and speaking second. You may have the impulse to do the opposite, and I suggest you keep it in check. Before making a statement, ask a question. Make sure you know the viewpoints of everyone involved, and make sure you take them under advisement. That doesn’t mean do what everyone says; it means know what they are saying, and how you feel about it. The key element, however, is holding the vision. This may take some extra focus for you — especially if you have two sets of goals that seem to conflict. It’s okay to have two sets of goals — as long as they are in harmony with one another.
