Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, #980 | By Eric Francis
To accept the idea that ‘this is the way things always were’ is an excuse, especially if you know the theme of your life is change. The question seems to be, will you take initiative, or are you expecting someone else to do it for you? I suggest you make your own decisions and initiate your own moves rather than expecting something in your environment will start the process. What you come up with will be a lot more interesting than what anyone else does, even if others talk louder. Just think your plan through a couple of times, especially if it’s work-related. Things are changing around you, and I suggest you see where they shake out over the next five or six days before doing anything too radical. The best idea will be a simple, easy-to-understand and, most of all, useful one.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, #979 | By Eric Francis
Don’t let your idealism be used against you. You have plenty of it right now; you seem to be fully conscious that there is a future and that you are being shown what is possible. You know that you have much more potential than you’re expressing now. Others are picking up on that, and you may have noticed that your enthusiasm is contagious. You will make some genuine friends now who may co-create some beautiful things, and travel with you for quite a while. Be aware that not everyone’s positive response is equally deep or meaningful. In your excitement you may be vulnerable to being taken advantage of, or being told things that you want to hear. Therefore, be discerning. Channel your positive vibes in deliberate ways, be conscious of how you allocate your resources and make sure that others back up their words with actions before you invite them in on your plans.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, #978 | By Eric Francis
You are experiencing far too much anxiety for your own good. Worrying will not get the job done, besides which, you cannot rightly expect anything much to resolve itself with the planets in their current state. So please stop worrying. You are only wasting precious energy you could be allocating to sitting under a tree or hiding in the back of your favorite cafe scribbling in your notebook. I can assure you that as the next four weeks progress, each issue you are dealing with will resolve itself one by one. This will not be by magic, but miracles that arise from love, not fear.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscopes — December 2013, #977 | By Eric Francis
We live in a time when everything comes down to power. Every question, action taken, or choice made becomes a question of power over others, or whether an individual has the strength to stand up to it. It would be one thing if this were just the king and his men. It’s now every major corporation and countless events that unfold on the individual and intimate levels of existence. Sex becomes a question of rape. Food becomes a matter of mass poisoning. Rule One is: you do it if you can. This comes at a price, which is self-mastery. As long as the name of society’s game is domination of others, we will overlook that the essential mission of arriving on Earth in a body is to be the master of your consciousness, your choices and to the greatest extent possible, your destiny. That theme comes into focus now, and as your ruling planet Mars moves into Libra and then into aspect with the historic Uranus-Pluto square, this theme will remain in focus for the foreseeable future. It is true that many forces in your personality are leading you to feel less than stable, though that is precisely what you must learn to harvest and focus with discipline and a true commitment to self-reinvention, clarity and the ability to direct your will.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 #976 | By Eric Francis
The Sun’s recent ingress into Sagittarius will help you get your mind off of joint financial issues, emotional matters and power struggles and remind you that there is a world outside of all of that. This is likely to feel like moving to a higher elevation and seeing the whole landscape rather than the little cave you were hanging out in. Yet the landscape you will be looking at will give you a perspective that extends forward in time, so that you can see potential expressions of yourself in the future. The catch is that doing this very thing may make you long for the familiarity of your present time, location and emotional state. You must remind yourself that progress implies change, and change implies unfamiliarity. Plenty more would get done in the world if our greatest visions didn’t get mired in our unresolved insecurities. You can get mired, or you can have an adventure.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 15, 2013 #975 | By Eric Francis
You may have some hard and fast ideas about what is good for you and for everyone else, though I suggest you tap into the more flexible, sensitive side of your being. There’s plenty you don’t know, and you will have greater access to missing information if you take a few deep breaths and allow yourself to open up to your deeper sensitivity. Be aware that what you learn may inform you of the ways in which your needs are different from those of someone you care about. That doesn’t mean a relationship or some kind of emotional exchange is not possible; what it means, though, is that any exchange must take into account specific differences, especially in the realm of values. You share enough common ground to have some space to explore, though you won’t find your way there if you’re busy judging yourself or others. Slow down and listen; you will learn.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Nov. 8, 2013 #974 | By Eric Francis
If you have something to say, then say it. I understand you may be hesitating, but I suggest you not miss this opportunity, and that in support of that, you not give yourself excuses to chicken out. Yes, this is one of those situations where you don’t know the effect that revealing something intimate may have on a personal relationship. But you can surmise the effect of not doing so, which is to remain stuck or feeling like there’s no space for you to be yourself. In fact there is space, and you can test that out by being clear, straightforward and explicit, and not holding back any aspect of what you think, what you feel, or what you want. You risk flipping the whole situation from something that feels stagnant to something that actually turns you on.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #973 | By Eric Francis
If you focus on work, you will be less distracted by an emotional or partnership situation that arises, and will be less likely to get drawn into it in an unhealthy way. The situation has its limits; you must make sure that you have yours as well. Words said without actual intent, misunderstandings and sexual contracts that are not clear are the potential lures into a likely energy-consuming unknown. Though most days I am not the type to suggest taking a purist approach, I recommend that you direct your energy consciously into focused, productive effort or healing. You may be prompted to seek deeper understanding of a partnership issue, though that will be more productive if you seek assistance from a disinterested third party rather than trying to ‘work it out’ with someone whose agenda you may not understand.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2013,
standing in for weekly #972 | By Eric Francis
Your plans may unfold more slowly than you were expecting, as if you’re living in a parallel world where time runs at half-speed. This is not only necessary; it will be helpful. Typically you run so fast you don’t look back to reflect on where you’ve arrived. Then the movement itself becomes the thing to do for its own sake, which happens not to be for your sake. The purpose is some form of healing, rest and repair. It would be a good idea to seek out someone’s assistance, or to notice who is in your environment — most likely a professional and not a friend or relative — and willing to assist with your healing mission. One other purpose of taking work, projects and social activities slower is so that you can place your focus on what appears to be a significant transition in a personal relationship. Your astrology describes this both as a release point and as an opening; as the invocation of a limit and your ability to surpass a previous blockage. This relates directly to your healing path, and though you cannot control the outcome, you can influence it in a positive way by being attentive to your own needs and always taking responsibility for what you can do to improve the situation, starting with yourself. No matter what it may seem, ultimately your life is not about anyone but you.
Weekly horoscope for Friday, Oct. 18, 2013 #971 | By Eric Francis
Friday’s eclipse in your birth sign reveals that you’re trying to shake off an old emotional influence of some kind, knowing that it’s not serving you. You can let it go, and you seem determined to do just that with every cell in your body. The challenge, though, is the sensation of instability that comes with not being boxed in by this feeling or expectation. This is one of the ways that negative attachments and emotional habits can keep you or anyone trapped — by that little thing they seem to offer. I suggest that you address that directly, and do what you can to stabilize on a new level of understanding. You have that available, as your ruling planet Mars has changed signs to Virgo. This will allow you to ground in your work, in a firm sense of purpose and in a framework of ideas far more stable and useful than the dramas that were keeping you busy.
The Oracle Horoscope, standing in for Weekly Horoscope #970, Oct. 11, 2013
Reassurance has not come in quite the form you expected, but it has arrived and it’s here to stay. There is more news to come, in both personal and professional relationships, and the sometimes strange territory where they meet. It’s true that mixing personal involvement with work, or daring to allow a relationship to take on a purpose, are considered risky by many people, and often threaten to have sloppy results if things go wrong. The actual problem is people having no real sense of what others are thinking and feeling, and not bothering to ask. I suggest you take this opportunity to reveal yourself, and to make any long-overdue inquiries that could give you an excellent change of perspective.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 #969 | By Eric Francis
Look closer at what seem to be contradictory demands within a relationship, whether they’re being made on you, or you figure out you’re making them on someone else. Your chart suggests that you want perfect freedom for yourself and perfect fidelity from someone else. This would work in a perfect world where we understand that fidelity and honoring freedom are the same thing. It works less well when those you care about have to compensate for your position, make allowances and ultimately put up with some hypocrisy because they love you. However, sooner or later their goodwill may run out, and you may be seeing signs of it wearing thin already. To solve this, listen to what partners and loved ones say about what they need — and take the initiative to provide that. If a request or desire leads you to feel threatened or hemmed in, consider the specifics carefully, and by that, I mean in a way that is fair — as they see it, not just as you see it.
Monthly Horoscope for October 2013 #968 | By Eric Francis
Others will have little choice but to deal with the fact that you cannot be anyone but yourself. Now, from one point of view, is it really possible ever to be anyone but yourself? Yet we all know how much faking so many people do. You’ve even done a little yourself every rare once in a while. You can count on opening your mouth and saying exactly what comes to mind, and trusting that the results will sort themselves out. I suggest you notice what you say to whom. Rather than being far flung and out of control, you’re being more precise than you may think. It just may take you some time to have respect for your own point of view, especially if you manage to send out some ripples or have a few objections sent your way. Pay attention to who says what; notice who is turned on by your outbursts of authenticity. The one thing that nobody can complain about is that you’re getting a lot done. I suggest you engage that fully, and focus an agenda of everything you want to get done for the rest of the year (assuming you’re on such a schedule) and set about doing it sooner rather than later. Get a solid start on every project; get your research and your facts together; make progress while there’s progress to be made.
Inner Space Horoscope for October 2013 #967 | By Eric Francis
You will need to micromanage your joint financial affairs. This would include everything from shared bank accounts to shared bills to mutually held investments. I suggest you read everything twice and take notes about all conversations that involve plans or commitments. If there are contracts or major purchases involved, analyze the situation and determine how quickly you really need to move — for now, the slower the better. If a proposed arrangement or deal of some kind encounters delays, use them wisely, and in any event, make sure you feel absolutely confident before signing. If you have questions, make sure you ask them. The subtle point of this astrology involves your most intimate partnerships, and it’s not financial but rather emotional. The general heading is commitment; disagreements over money are quite potentially symbolic of something else that needs to be addressed.
Pisces Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 17, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You are experiencing feelings you may not have made contact with for quite some time. Emotions can be slippery things, not always easy to define or communicate. I suggest you try to nail down what you are working through rather than avoid confronting these feelings, no matter how hard to pin down they may feel. You are gaining insight into how a religious idea or philosophy you were exposed to at an early age has dictated how you manage and interact with your feelings. By acknowledging the influence this has had on you, you will be able to consciously choose how you approach your emotions in the future. This will let you decide on a response that is in tune with your own belief system, rather than unconscious habits.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 13, 2013 #966 | By Eric Francis
Someone close to you is going through what you recently went through, or at least something similar. Even if it seems to be less meaningful (to you) or seems (to you) to have less impact, I suggest you recognize their emotional reality for what it is. You, and the people around you, are having certain experiences of coming up against your limitations, which you may be experiencing as reaching a breaking point. What you may observe as both interesting and informative is the way in which a partner or loved one demonstrates their flexibility in ways that you tend to be rigid, stuck or stubborn. It’s not that they’re going through less than you — indeed, what they’re experiencing appears to be profound and to reach a deep place. Their response and approach to the equation is informed by other values, including the concept of equilibrium. This is something you would do well to learn, and you can learn a lot from observation.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Sept. 6, 2013 #965 | By Eric Francis
If you find yourself meeting the resistance of a partner, I suggest you explore your options rather than fight. You may feel ready to take on whatever issue directly, though it’s unlikely to get you the results that you want. One result might be the freedom to express your passion, curiosity and creativity without the interference of someone else. You may be feeling like a certain agreement or commitment has reached the point where it’s no longer useful. That may be true, and you may also be able to get yourself over the hump and continue on. How many times has this happened? How many times have you reached the point of maximum tolerance and/or frustration? If more than three times, you might consider that there’s more to life than frustration, and why you need anyone in the role of restrictor, enforcer or defender of the faith — yourself included.
Virgo New Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, Sep. 3, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
Space is now opening up for you to make some changes to your daily routines. Think of these set daily patterns as a way to tend your energy and replenish your emotional space. As an Aries Moon, like a blacksmith utilizing fire to shape and craft a metal tool, you are able to use your internal fire — your desire and drive for action — to mold and shape your life. Working with this large amount of heat and energy, it’s important for you to have set routines, both physical and creative, to burn off some of this high-octane energy. Take time this week to re-evaluate the structure of your days and weeks, and then make changes to how you spend your time. Even small changes can have a substantial effect on how you feel in your day-to-day life.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #964 | By Eric Francis
Calculate your risks. Do not take them frivolously. I know this is not a popular activity but for you it’s a necessary one. You are more inclined to go out on a limb right now; at the same time there are factors in the equation that you may not be aware of. Therefore I suggest you consider worst-case scenarios before you do something that is potentially dangerous. At the same time, some of those scenarios have ways of expressing themselves that come up in your favor. For example, a phase of adversity in a relationship can work out in your favor, by taking you deeper with someone, and helping you build trust with them. Yet it’s essential that you be conscious as you do this. I am not suggesting that you stoke your insecurity — only that you look before you take a soulful, bounding leap.
Monthly Horoscopes for September 2013, #963 | By Eric Francis
One challenge of the coming weeks involves discerning self-interest from your calling or desire to support others. Ideally there would be no separation of those concepts. That we can and so often do play games that have one winner and many losers is a problem. That we tend to lack the idea of ‘the greatest good for all concerned’, or what are called win-win scenarios, is the deeper issue. It’s essential that you bear this in mind now. Your interests are not separate from the people you care about, and in truth they’re not separate from those of anyone else. Understanding this requires reaching a new level of consciousness — which you’re reaching for, capable of and where you may already be. In this scenario, it will help to know what you want, and at the same time you must also know about (and care about) the wants and needs of the people with whom you share space and time. To do that, you’ll need to ask, listen carefully and listen to what people say when they’re speaking freely. Simply put, you’re being called upon to be fair, to the point where you set aside competition in exchange for creating a mutually beneficial situation. This calls for a heightened level of honesty, first with yourself and then with others.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 16, 2013, #962 | By Eric Francis
You are not as insecure as you think. But the question lately seems to be how to stop rattling your own cage, then reacting as if someone else is doing it. There is a friendly influence in your life at the moment, someone genuinely attracted to you and also sensitive to who you are. I suggest you treat this situation gently, with a spirit of appreciation and curiosity. It would be easy to look at these charts and advise you to tone yourself down — I am not saying that, however. What I am saying is pay attention to who this person is, how they feel and how they arrived where they are today. There’s part of your story being told by whoever this is, which is one reason why I suggest you listen carefully. The other reason is that opening your ears is the easiest way to open your heart, and if your heart is open, the people around you will feel more welcome, which is good for everyone.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, #961 | By Eric Francis
If you have the sensation that you’re slowly working your way toward some emotional edge, but you don’t know where it is, I would say that’s about right. The larger experience is that you keep reaching one challenge, passing over or through it, and then another, and you may be wondering when you are going to reach the actual brink. It may involve your sense of safety, your patience, your tolerance of a domestic situation, or some factor that’s been making you angry. Beneath all of these various experiences or feelings is something much deeper, which is the desire to cut loose. By that I mean, really cut loose and be as wild and as passionate as you feel inside. The story of our society is the story of keeping that particular set of desires in check. It works, for a while, but it has a lot of frustrating and negative effects. One of them is that you might feel like an animal with a wild streak who is on a chain or in a cage, and you want more than anything to break free. If so, congratulations — and keep going.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for August 2013 | By Eric Francis
What do you offer in your sexual relationships and what do you get back? There may seem to be a situation wherein you do all the giving, and where someone else benefits. Have you found yourself in this situation before? You seem to be in the role of sexual healer. That’s someone who engages in erotic experiences primarily for the benefit of others. Your role is to hold space for them, which is a high-consciousness experience. At the same time there’s part of you that craves the experiences you want — yet you will learn more and deepen your relationships by offering rare experiences to others, or to someone in particular. Reach for a deep understanding of what your partner or someone you care about needs and offer that to them as a conscious act of generosity and healing.
Monthly Horoscope for August 2013, #960 | By Eric Francis
If you understood how much of your insecurity was about trying to please others, you might find yourself getting angry. And if you do find yourself getting angry, consider that it’s about trying to make sure that everyone approves of everything from your plans to your state of mind before you allow yourself to make a move. I suggest you try this month to seek nobody’s approval for anything. Make up your own mind about everything. Even in matters involving family or household, you’re entitled to your own opinion, which means an opinion that others might not agree with. As you start to do this, you might notice that you’re sloughing off layer after layer of submission, conciliation, people-pleasing and what you believed was give-and-take. All of that is the opposite of taking authority. And taking authority is what you’re about to do. This will require some actual courage, and I believe you’ve got that available. You will need to follow what both your instincts and intuition tell you. The information is coming into your awareness from a deep place. You know what is true for you. Now what you must do is count that as relevant — and make a decision that the emotional dramas of others are irrelevant to you living your life in the way that is right for you.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 19, 2013, #959 | By Eric Francis
Since the last time Jupiter was in Cancer, we’ve become surrounded by a ‘national security state’, designed to defend us against enemies who don’t really exist. Everything about your chart is suggesting that you consider the theme of your need to defend yourself, why you might need to do so, and against whom. What I see going on is that you’re trying to integrate some aspect of yourself that you’ve been in denial of, some wild, expressive aspect of who you are that looks like it’s been buried in your psyche despite your being an Aries. You don’t need to defend yourself; I suggest that you express yourself. The question is, do you feel safe enough to do that? If you don’t, the answer is not more resistance, or pushing back against anything that seems to threaten you. The way forward involves courage. It’s closer than you think.
Aquarius Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
Over this week’s Aquarius Full Moon, how you relate to the groups you are a part of is shifting and evolving rapidly. This may feel like a burst of energy accompanied by seeing a situation in a new light. What is changing is not necessarily the situation, but rather how you perceive it. An internal pressure is driving for more discernment now about whom you want in your network. You will have a number of options in picking who is around you. Sharing is often one of the most direct ways to experience a deeper sense of meaningful connection, even in a larger group setting. As you navigate these choices, I suggest keeping your vision on not only individuals who invite you into their groups, but those people and networks who have something to teach you as well.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 12, 2013, #958 | By Eric Francis
Find the courage and you can accomplish anything. It’s one thing to be headstrong, determined or pushy. It’s another to be brave. Unless you’re familiar with bravery, the distinction may seem like just words, though it’s not — there is a heartfelt confidence in courage; there is the trust that you’ll be able to meet your challenges and not be deterred by your hang-ups. As you discover this space within yourself, you’ll begin to pick up momentum and gather strength from what may seem like invisible sources within you. If there’s a sexual element to this, it’s about a craving to explore in physical reality what you might not even be able to speak about under ordinary circumstances. Your fantasies may lead the way; the courage aspect involves giving yourself permission to go new places with your body and your emotions, with authentic curiosity where this may lead you.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, July 5, 2013, #957 | By Eric Francis
There are two new influences working in your chart, and both relate to what is sometimes called sexual healing. In reality sexual healing is related to every other form of healing, though it’s a special focus. And it’s made all the more special for the denial that surrounds it. Both of these planets (a slow-mover that I refer to as Radha, and a beautiful asteroid called Vesta) call on you to be a vessel of service. In assisting others, you must be self-aware, present for the other, and allow the healing energy to move through you. The key ideas are awareness and allowing — rather than something like doing, deciding, acting, fixing, etc. This can take discipline, because kind people are usually intent on helping by way of solving something. In all matters external or internal, I suggest being observant and as present as possible. Your presence alone is reassuring. Your holding open safe space is reassuring. The power that heals is not you, though it can most certainly come through you.
Cancer New Moon for Tuesday, July 2, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
The Sun, Moon and retrograde Mercury are presently meeting up in the area of your chart that has a lot to do with your internal landscape. You can think of this as your most private thoughts and feelings. This astrology is driving you deep into yourself to examine the different aspects of who you are and how they fit together. Part of what you are making contact with and honoring is your own inherent complexity. It may seem like there are potentially competing versions of you, though really they are all part of the same continuum. As you check out these new aspects of who you are, I suggest holding space for all parts of yourself; from there it will be apparent how you can live a lifestyle that does in fact satisfy and fulfill all of you.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #956 | By Eric Francis
You seem to be going back and forth on an issue that’s calling for a firm decision. The more decisive you try to be, the more it seems like there are two irreconcilable sides of the story, each with its own seemingly valid point of view. The more you try to please everyone, the more obvious it becomes that you’ll never be able to do that. I suggest you not burn yourself out doing this. You probably already know the reality of the situation, not from rationalizing or arguing one side of the case over the other, but because you simply know. What you’re really waiting for is the courage to take action, whether that means declaring an end to something, or committing to it more fully.
Daily Horoscope for Tuesday, June 25, 2013 | By Eric Francis
Whatever you accomplish in life, you don’t accomplish alone. You always have help, and you depend on your friends — what you’re doing now is no exception. There’s one bit that comes from you alone: having the guts to take initiative. You make the decision to create something, or to organize an effort around a goal. That part nobody can do for you.
Daily Horoscope for Monday, June 24, 2013 | By Eric Francis
You have the confidence to achieve great things. But you might be experiencing it as something else, such as not wanting to leave the house, or being worried that you’ll get in trouble for expressing any originality or leadership. If you’re hesitating, think of it as a veil thrown over your strength. Pull it back and see what’s there.
Monthly Horoscope for July 2013, #955 | By Eric Francis
It’s unusual that you can truly focus your energy inwardly, though that is where the planets are guiding you. Plenty of what you consider inward is rather worldly, involved with people, places and things. You now have an opportunity to subtract all of those external influences and go to a new depth of self-understanding. Take the time to do this in a meaningful way. You don’t need the opinions of others, and their presence is likely to distract you from the significant matters at hand. While you’re embarking on an extended phase where your most dependable source of wisdom will come from you, the present moment is especially rich with information and a new kind of curiosity. You have the chance to get to the bottom of some deep insecurities. Normally you address these by reaching out to the people around you, or distracting yourself with activity. Yet that never really answers your question. While you may not get answers over the next few weeks, you will be able to focus your deepest questions in a meaningful way and set an agenda for yourself. Good questions are more important than answers, because they will challenge you to be creative about your own most intimate thoughts. I will say this. You’re a different person when you feel safe and when you do not. Feeling safe allows you to get a handle on surface-level material, and thus go deeper. Yet that doesn’t happen very often, and now the door is wide open.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 14, 2013, #954 | By Eric Francis
I suggest that as you make decisions and attempt to organize yourself in what may be an unsettled moment, you follow the idea that a home is best organized from the kitchen outward. The kitchen used to be the hearth — the fire at the center of life, used for warmth, cooking and as a spiritual focal point of the home. In any situation you find yourself, see if you can determine the fire at the center of the situation. Notice the most pragmatic elements and focus on them. Arrange the situations you’re involved with in such a way that you ensure that everyone in your immediate household or sphere is taken care of, and that nobody is left out. There is plenty to eat; there is plenty of space; offer what you have to those around you when you notice that someone has a need you can fulfill. Any confusion or ambivalence you may feel will resolve itself when you put your priorities in order, and right now those can easily be described by a concept that’s easy enough to understand: nourishment.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, June 7, 2013, #953 | By Eric Francis
You must be impeccable in speech and language: in what you say or write or communicate in any way. This is not a time to ignore your doubts about whether you really mean what you’re saying, or whether you’re capable of fulfilling a promise. When in doubt, say nothing. Statements made with the intent of expediency — that is, white lies intended to help you get ahead — could be the most damaging, and may have significant repercussions in the near future. Though you may not have the intention to deceive anyone, this astrology can also cover situations where you’re not working with full information, or have inaccurate data. Therefore, it’s necessary to check what you hear from others as well as it’s necessary to understand someone’s motives for putting you up to something. Be vigilant, be clear, and ask questions till you absolutely understand any situation you’re in.
Gemini New Moon for Tuesday, June 4, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
The Gemini New Moon is highlighting how you think and the patterns in which your mind moves. Your mind is one of your most powerful tools. I suggest experimenting with a few new ideas and approaches to how you use it. When your mind and emotional body act in tandem toward the same goal, they shape your outer world. Have you noticed how well that works? Like a laser, you can focus your mind on exactly what you desire, shaping and creating your vision. It’s like a muscle; the more you work it, the easier it will be for you to employ with exact precision. Each new situation is an opportunity to apply your full mental capacity and emotional commitment. At first this might feel limiting — yet notice how much you actually do accomplish and initiate when you are working with your full focus and emotional resources channeled in the same direction.
Inner Space Horoscope for June 2013, #952 | By Eric Francis
Get ready to make a stretch — of your living space, of your emotional capacity, of your ability to take care of yourself and others. You don’t need to be afflicted by the same ‘there’s never enough’ bug that so many others seem unable or unwilling to shake off. You can afford to feel safe, and you will only benefit from encouraging the people you love to understand that they too are safe. Humans are critters that belong in broods, tribes and caravans. Our society falsely promises benefit and gain by striking off on one’s own or ignoring the needs of others. Everyone needs some time to themselves, but that’s a different thing. Anyone who feels the pleasure of cooperation and the benefits of solving collective problems collectively is unlikely to go back to the old way.
Monthly Horoscope for June 2013, #951 | By Eric Francis
Most of what we experience in life is shaped by how safe we feel. Those who feel safe also feel confident. They consume less energy on fear, and as a result have more to invest in creativity, productive work and loving experiences. What is interesting about experiencing safety and confidence is that it improves with practice rather than with external reasons or rationales to feel a certain way. It’s worth practicing, especially now that the planets are moving one by one into a position that makes it easier than it’s been in quite a while. When you tune your emotional body to a space of harmony and empathy, you get different results than if you are practicing competition or fear as your daily yoga. Events this month can take you on a journey into a grounded, confident space, and give you a model for how to feel stable there. With each passing event, you can go a little deeper into the calm assurance that you belong in your home, your community and in the world at this time. This is something you can commit to as a conscious choice, then gradually teach yourself and improve your skill, learning what thoughts, communication patterns and ways of connecting emotionally foster your sense of safety. If questions arise, they are most likely to focus on identifying and letting go of emotional thought forms that no longer serve you. Let them go and you will liberate space and energy for what is beautiful, good and true.
Sagittarius Full Moon for Tuesday, May 21, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
At the moment, you may be questioning an attitude you’ve held for a long time. This viewpoint has become so ingrained it feels more like a habit than a conscious manner of thinking. As you make contact with the opposite perspective, it feels at odds with what you’ve held to be true, like you are being pulled in two different directions. I suggest not spending too much energy or time worrying about this sensation; rather take the longer view that there are two ways to experience existence, part of the same spectrum — one through the emotional body and one through the mind or ego. What you are restructuring is your attitude toward the concept of freedom and the role it plays in your life. Freedom to be yourself is an important component to a genuine sense of being in charge of your life. As you work this fine edge it may feel bold, even a bit dangerous. That’s a sign that you are making contact with something authentic.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 17, 2013 #950 | By Liam Carey
When I was 16 years old, a loner, stoned out and nearly a high-school dropout, my father gave me a book called No Man is an Island, by the Trappist monk Thomas Merton. The well-intentioned gift was offered, I imagine, to cull me out of my rebellious ways. I was insulted. I mention this story as a lesson in how not to respond to gestures that coax one into the social arena, because you may be faced with such lessons this week. First of all, there is a powerful magnetism about you that will draw others toward you. Neither you nor those that come will know exactly what it is, but there’s definitely something there. Second, even though you don’t really feel like it, you’re either going to talk up a storm or at least have so much on your mind you’ll burst if you don’t get it out somehow. Go with the flow; the interaction is necessary to reality-check your ideas and keep your ego from running riot.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 10, 2013 #949 | By Eric Francis
How can you value yourself if you’re afraid to show the world who you are? The two concepts form a direct contradiction to one another. I suggest you monitor your thoughts carefully for any hint of ‘restrain yourself’ or ‘don’t say how you feel’ and notice whether these impulses are connected to the issue of worthiness. It’s true from one limited point of view that there’s an appropriate time for everything. The question is what side of the line of appropriateness do you choose to err on? You can practice conservatism as a veiled form of living in fear, or you can err on the side of expressing yourself in that moment when you might be pushing boundaries. You’re safe doing this as long as you’re actually coming from what you truly value. In the process, you’re just as likely to discover that what you thought was true for you no longer is. This implies conducting your life as an experiment, which in turn hints at not knowing the outcome in advance.
Taurus New Moon for Tuesday, May 7, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
What do you value? Pull out a pen and paper and make a list of that which is most important to you. Making a list will provide a concrete way to gather your thoughts and sort through new information regarding what you think of as important. Are you at the top of that list? At the moment, you are connecting with a certain doubt that has been floating around your psyche for a long time. So long it may have seemed like the normal state of your existence. I’m not referring to any kind of self-esteem crisis, rather a deep and pervasive sensation that you could not quite measure up to the vision you held for yourself and your place in the world. There has been some block that you thought you could not get around. As the Taurus New Moon takes place this week, you come into contact with the fact that this is only perception, not truth. This realization will bring you a long way in resolving any doubt you’ve held about yourself, bringing a greater sense of confidence in your ability to be an active and successful participant in guiding the direction of your life.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, May 3, 2013 #948 | By Eric Francis
The theme of next week’s eclipse is self-understanding, though I mean this in the most practical way. You need a system for governing your life that takes into account what is actually meaningful to you. That means listening to the things you’ve promised yourself you were going to do over and over again. One thing that would be helpful is to evaluate that list and see what is still valid for you. Eliminate everything that’s no longer part of your actual agenda, so that you can free up energy, bandwidth and priority space for everything that is. I would suggest going forward that you be vigilant about putting your priorities into action. For this, you will need a plan that has emphasis on three phases: initiation, follow-through and completion. Stretch your perspective beyond the ‘get started’ phase and into the ones that take more dedication. This can be the time in your life when you get past the inertia that has bogged you down in the past. That’s another way of saying: this can be a time when you learn to express your true potential.
Inner Space Horoscopes for May 2013 | By Eric Francis
Most of how we experience life is dependent on one thing: how we feel about ourselves. This is often considered an emotional experience, and in the end it may be. But you’re now down to one option, which is to use logic. This will get you past any impulses and snap judgments that you may be experiencing, and into a frame of mind where you can ask yourself what’s true and what’s not. Make sure you ask yourself how you know what you think you know, which will help you avoid certain biases that all people have about themselves. There seems to be something about yourself that you’re trying to let go of, and something else that you want to embrace. Remember that humans are creatures of habit, and what you emphasize (by any means, whether negative or positive reinforcement) is likely to increase.
Monthly Horoscopes for May 2013 #947 | By Eric Francis
Just the concept that something is or even that it may be valuable is enough to make it so. It works the same way in how we feel about ourselves. Consider the effects of the value you put on yourself. I don’t mean your monetary value, though that will come up eventually; I mean whether you think you matter to others, or whether what you do and offer to the world makes a difference. You’ve had a way of thinking about this theme for a long time. You’ve tried to work out the equation a number of times before, with only limited success. It’s as if you know your own value intuitively but cannot quite articulate it to yourself. Yet there’s a vital piece to the puzzle: values are only valuable to the extent that we act on them. Once acted upon, there’s greater tangibility to what is, in essence, an idea. The dividing line I see in your chart seems to involve making an actual decision about what you say is the most important to you, and then sizing up the effects based upon what happens. We do a lot of jabbering to ourselves about what is so important, though rarely put ourselves through this simple test. Well, it may not be so simple, and you may need to persevere through what seems like an inordinately long time to get your results, though it’s only long in your perception. Assuming you keep at it, you may not have your answer until six months from now.
Scorpio Full Moon for Tuesday, April 23, 2013 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You have recently been questioning many previously held beliefs about who you are and what you want. At times, this may have felt chaotic, like you did not have a clear vision of “you.” This week’s powerful Scorpio Full Moon will help you move through a sort of doorway, into a space with greater clarity regarding the internal changes you’ve been working through. An idea or answer you’ve been looking for will become apparent — it’s been visible for a while, and a slight shift in perspective will help you orient on it. Think of it as one of those magic-eye puzzles. Initially when you look at the picture it’s a jumbled mix of colors and dots; shift your vision slightly and suddenly a face or image pops out in 3D. Like this puzzle, the Full Moon is bringing you an opening to shift slightly, and what seemed like chaos will now form into a cohesive aspect of yourself.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 19, 2013 #946 | By Eric Francis
Remember what you figure out this weekend, because it may be one of the most relevant personal discoveries you’ve made in a long time. The question, though, is why you might forget, and one reason for that is because if you put the information to use, you will need to make some deep decisions not just about what you do, but about who you are. I know you may not think that who you are is a decision, though I assure you that it is. Even if you only go as far as deciding to be who you know you are, rather than who you are not, that’s still an important choice, though it goes deeper than that. Your state of being is in a continual state of change, and at each of those junctures, you are presented with a choice. What decision you make will be influenced by what you know and whether you use what you know — and you’re about to learn something that is both meaningful and useful.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 12, 2013 #945 | By Eric Francis
You are starting to find your voice and your confidence, which you may have discovered is easier if you encourage others to find theirs. I would say there are two kinds of confidence, at minimum — one based on the idea “I am better than you” and another based on the idea “we’re all growing, and we can support one another on this trip through the unknown.” Over the next week you will have opportunities that you can meet with a spirit of competition or mutual support; the choice is yours. To embrace the latter option, you would need to consider the idea that what you offer to others increases, particularly if what you’re offering is an idea or a feeling. You have plenty of these things to go around, particularly ideas. You’re also figuring out that you value your freedom above all else, particularly your freedom of thought and expression. That’s something truly collective, available to everyone or not at all. I suggest you lead the way.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, April 5, 2013 #944 | By Genevieve Hathaway
You’ve spent the past month doing a lot of work behind the scenes and below the layers of your psyche, shifting and moving material out of the way that no longer serves you. This process of de-cluttering the corners of your mental and emotional space has clarified who you are. Sharing this side of yourself may feel deeply personal — that’s a good indicator that you are showing the authentic you. As you share with others the ‘you’ no one knows, remember that how people react is independent of your inherent value. Presenting yourself unfiltered will challenge those around you to do the same. Some people may find this difficult to match, but enough people will follow your lead and answer with their own authenticity.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for April 2013 | By Eric Francis
I suggest that you not get ahead of yourself. You may feel that there’s nothing you cannot accomplish, but certain recent events may also demonstrate that there’s no guarantee that impulsive decisions actually work out to your benefit. When life is moving unusually fast, and when there are so many unpredictable factors that it seems impossible to use logic and scheduling to solve your problems, you may be tempted to throw all organization to the wind. This is the time to pause and ask yourself what it really is that you’re doing, and why. Have you thought this through? Well, it’s not too late, though you may have to slow down and take the pulse on a relationship or partnership that seems to have taken on a life of its own. The astrology is suggesting that the most challenging thing is listening. That includes you listening to others, and them listening to you. Yes, it seems elementary that such a basic level of exchange could be missing in a situation so significant in your life, though I suggest you check this carefully and make sure that you and those close to you are truly willing to hear one another out. Doing so will not threaten anyone’s existence, importance or role. What a sincere (and extra-length) exchange of feelings or ideas will do is to re-incorporate the human element into this endeavor, before you encounter challenges that depend entirely on that one very thing. In a word, that would be trust.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 15, 2013 #942 | By Genevieve Hathaway
Recently, your 12th house has been a very busy place with many planets moving through, including your ruler Mars. This may have come with the feeling of a piece of yourself being just out of reach, or you may not have felt like you were firing on all cylinders. Now, as both the Sun and Mars ingress your sign, you’re coming into contact with this part of yourself that has been hard to access. Pushing up from within you is a renewed sense of your potential to accomplish your goals and take action on your vision. You are getting clear on something you’ve wanted that in the past seemed unattainable, yet will all of a sudden appear possible. In this moment of clarity move forward and take action with intention. The key to manifesting what you want is belief that it can be done. I suggest you not let anyone convince you otherwise.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 8, 2013 #941 | By Eric Francis
Over the weekend, I suggest you pull out old photo albums or online galleries and study photographs of yourself. Study how your image has changed, and how your self-image has evolved over time. Try to identify the relationship between how you feel, what you look like and what you’re trying to project. Really focus on this carefully and reflectively. We are under a rare combination of astrological factors that may indeed never happen again in our lifetimes, which suggest that photographs and your relationship to them are an unusually powerful force for healing and also for creativity. If you have a friend you trust or are good with self-portraits, take photos of yourself that are designed to be the person you want to become. Create the image as if it’s something you’re going to grow into (this is true of nearly all good portraits — they can offer a glimpse of the future). Photography has never been easier or more available and affordable; right now it has the power to change your life, in the best possible ways.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, March 1, 2013 #940 | By Eric Francis
You may feel like you’re living in two worlds — one where you have to get everything right, and another where there are no rules. Actually the only rules you have to follow are the ones you’ve agreed to, and even those are probably negotiable. Check carefully for any sensation of being trapped, hemmed in or hidden away, and if you discover something, see if you can get a handle on why you feel that way. What seems to be happening is that you’re being drawn into a dimension of yourself that’s either unfamiliar or that has never been so present. This may have you feeling like you’re going to slip off a ledge and tumble into an inner abyss. Well, kind of — what’s happening is that your imagination is firing up. Think of it as an inner life, an inner dimension, that has all its own customs. The more you try to pretend it’s not there, the more chaotic you’ll feel. The more you focus your energy inward, the more you will tap a rich well of imagination.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for March 2013 | By Eric Francis
Confidence is everything on this planet — if you want to do things, that is. I know there is wisdom in insecurity (borrowing an idea from Alan Watts), and that humility is a necessary ingredient of trust and truly being human. Yet these things must feed confidence rather than erode it. At a certain point, you must take action, and that works best from a place of faith and trust in yourself. I am not talking about swagger, but rather a hunch that you’re doing the right thing by trying, rather than knowing that there will be a perfect outcome. Making peace with the uncertain outcome is a big part of the confidence or trust that I’m describing. You have many reasons for that trust, but it’s time to go beyond any form of rationalizing or mentally establishing your validity. Connect with the feeling of substance within you. I reckon that sensation will be pretty strong, perhaps stronger than ever, if you allow yourself to tune in. Don’t distract yourself with appearances, particularly with any form of glamour. There’s an old expression — don’t let your confidence come from your feet. The place you want it to come from is your heart, and it will, if that is where you focus. Feel the fullness of your soul, the richness of your imagination and the hyper-charged sense of potential. Then get ready to take your first step on a journey that’s likely to lead you in an entirely new direction.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 #938 | By Eric Francis
You may feel like the world is alive with experience and intrigue, but it’s all going on in some secret room that you don’t have access to. The thing is, you do have access, though it’s unlikely to be through the front entrance or the box office. This is more like being given a backstage pass and let in through the side door. Anyway, the real theater is in your mind, and you will access it by going to those places you cannot go with ordinary consciousness. The action is focused in Pisces, which almost always represents the inner reality (as opposed to Aries, which usually represents the outer reality). Therefore, use those paths which are likely to take you inside: creative exploration (rather than social contact) in nearly any form will do that, such as music, painting, photography or writing. The idea is to do a lot of something that draws you into yourself rather than out of yourself (a distinction not described often enough). Spend time alone. Get past the restless feeling to the sensation of entering an inner space. Notice where you are and how you feel.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 #937 | By Eric Francis
In the cosmic scheme, your sign is the one designed to be about assertion and action. With Mars currently in Pisces, life may not be presenting you with clear direction; you seem to be lacking a tangible sense of where you are at the moment. This is an invitation inward. Yes, there are other influences that are heightening your desire for social contact, though I suggest you ask yourself whether these are offering you what you want, or presenting a distraction or worse, a source of needless drama. You may have the sense that you’ll find someone you want, someone you’ve been looking for, ‘out there somewhere’, though I suggest you question that theory at least long enough to see whether the one you’re looking for isn’t right inside you. One other point to consider this week: this is a time of completions rather than of beginnings. Yes, there’s a New Moon coming up — which you could say initiates a time of closure and resolution that extends from now until your birthday.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 #936 | By Eric Francis
You may find excellent company among those others think of as strange. Let yourself be guided by intuition, instinct or the angels — speak to whom you’re guided or gravitate towards. If you have to get over a little bump of fear to do that, and to make contact, all the better. In some ways this is an exercise in trust, and you really don’t have much to lose, especially in the social realm. However, in today’s chilly version of society, it seems like nearly everyone has inflammations of social phobia, accentuated by the fear of what you might do in the event that something real actually happens. What you want is exactly, precisely, something real. As such, it may be a little strange, having that slightly alien feeling. That’s the idea. If you’re at a party, the person you want to talk to is the one with the pointy ears, the color eyes you’ve never seen, or the unusual scent.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis
Do not follow the crowd. You don’t know where the crowd will lead you, and you don’t want to find out. But don’t preserve your independence at ‘all costs’; there are opportunities to make friends within group situations that could work out well for you. I suggest you mind your politics — that is, be willing to find the gray area and devise a solution that works for everyone, which is the real meaning of compromise. This month is a turning point in your social and private relationships; the pivot on which things turn is some issue involving cruelty that you just seem to have had enough of. You know what this is and what it’s about. It will take more than a promise to yourself to resolve; it will take longterm commitment, practiced from day to day.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February 2013 | By Eric Francis
You may find yourself drawn into social environments, though I suggest you take a strategic approach — spend only as much time there as it takes to meet your objective. That might include meeting the one person you know you were ‘supposed’ to meet, having one conversation, making a cameo and moving on, or hanging out in the back room during your own party. I say this for two reasons, besides the fact that the social realm can be a waste of time, energy and aspiration. One current reason is you need to be careful of group dynamics, and conscious when you’re in their midst. I would encourage you not to surrender your power to a group. Another is that small shifts in trajectory will take you in significantly different directions from the one you’re currently moving in, and it’s necessary to be aware of when you feel that change. Last is that you have deeper pleasures waiting for you than those you can have in public, hence, the social realm is merely a means to something better, and that something better is the thing you want. Part of creating it will involve setting up the environment for it to manifest; the idea that comes to mind is containment, a kind of world apart. Make sure that your home is prepared, with various libations and the implements of pleasure (soft lighting, clean sheets, phones disconnected, suitable music) and then go with the flow.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 #934 | By Eric Francis
Be conscious of group dynamics. That means knowing what group dynamics are: it’s the peculiar way that people change when they get together with a few other people. It’s not always pretty. Groups in many ways seem like an invitation for things to get weird, and for people to surrender their individuality. You’re not likely to do that, but I want to suggest that you take a special advantage here, and become the facilitator. The thing is, you need to do this in a slightly subtle way; as subtle as you can muster up for an Aries, which means using your political skills. Get to know everyone and their point of view before you state your own. Take the temperature of the people around you, and figure out which way things are headed organically. You may need to do nothing more than to guide things in that direction; you may need to intervene. Proceed gently, slowly and carefully and avoid, at all costs, being argumentative, aggressive or even overly assertive.
Weekly Horoscope for Friday, Jan. 11, 2013 #933 | By Eric Francis
Remember to mind your politics. You are in rare form in many other ways — unafraid to stand out, bold about expressing your ideas and willing to take charge. Yet what you need is to employ your political skill. That means politeness, following basic policy and applying a little polish to your presentation. You are in a visible position of leadership, though I suggest you focus your efforts on fostering cooperation. You will have to take some initiative but if you remember to do all those things beginning with ‘pol’ you will find that your charm and positive attitude get you further than letting anyone know who is boss. One other not-so-subtle point — be aware of emotions like envy, jealousy and the desire for control. Leave that to other people and be aware that these emotions are in the environment. What they all have in common is a competitive edge; that is the thing to identify in any form that it arrives, to let go of and to find viable options for.
Inner Space Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis
You don’t need validation from others to renegotiate a relationship arrangement; this is between you and the person you’re involved with. Yet you may be influenced by the opinions of your friends, or what you perceive as public opinion. Monitor this factor carefully, even if you think that it doesn’t apply. Much of what people do in their one-on-one relationships is influenced or even dictated by presumed norms of their social circle, or what they read in magazines. The kinds of relationships we have, why we have them and who we have them with are all under this influence. In the best-case scenario, you may be about to break free of both the views of others and the constraints of an intimate partnership. Make sure that your intentions are what actually guides your life.
Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2013 | By Eric Francis
You have the potential to accomplish great things, and you know it. You also know that discipline and focus are the keys to doing this. You can no longer depend exclusively on exterior structures to keep your goals or work pattern in place. And it would seem that the reputation you worked so hard to cultivate now translates mostly to experience. Yet that experience, if nothing else, can remind you that you have what it takes to get the job done. The question really comes down to who will keep you focused — you, or some force outside yourself. If you depend on your own inner resources to build your structure, you will have the creative freedom that you want. If you depend on something outside yourself, you will be compromised in what you get to express. I realize that the high-temperature, erratic nature of your idea flow doesn’t lend itself well to focus, but that is precisely the point. You want to maximize your qualities of initiative and originality, and in order to do that, you need your own management structure. This will give you a sense of ownership of your ideas, and help you take full responsibility for their use. Whatever you’re saying, doing or developing has more influence than you think, and you may have at least one experience this month of seeing the potentially negative impact when you pretend they don’t. This will remind you to align with your intentions, which means knowing what they are.
