Special Comment: Astrology of Sunday’s Debate
Politics got even weirder over the weekend. On Friday, under the influence of the Sun-Pluto square, the Washington Post published video wherein Donald Trump was recorded making not merely lewd comments about women but bragging about sexual assault. This was an astonishing manifestation of the Sun-Pluto square, which you might describe as a deeply-felt aspect. Even if you cannot stomach politics, you might watch this video and see what the fuss is about. It’s impressive.
The New York Times responded with one of its most scathing editorials in a generation, saying that a line had been crossed. It’s amazing in equal measure that it took so long for the discussion to get to this point, and that it got here at all. Meanwhile you may shake your head at how the normally prudish American psyche could take this kind of abuse for so long. However, a presidential candidate admitting to felony assault takes things to a new level.
Then, after all of this, the two leading presidential candidates will meet face-to-face for a debate Sunday evening at 9 pm EDT. I’ve covered the astrology of the debate in a short article, looking specifically at the debate chart. You may read that here.
In the background is a truly stunning Full Moon forming that will be exact on late on the night of Saturday, Oct. 15 or early the morning of Sunday, Oct. 16 (depending on your time zone). The Full Moon is exactly conjunct the aspect of the digital age, the extremely rare Uranus conjunct Eris. This last happened in 1927-28 at the dawn of the electronic age.
Much as the Uranus-Pluto conjunction described and defined the 1960s, Uranus-Eris is having sweeping mass effects in our era. These effects are related to living under digital conditions. And in one week, the Full Moon will be exactly conjunct this aspect for the one and only time. The Sun will be at opposition to this aspect, and it will come to full consciousness with some wild and strange cascade of effects.
Without making specific predictions, the week ahead will be one of the most interesting weeks in politics since those days in August 1974, when Richard Nixon resigned from office as his Republican colleagues defected and promised to joint the impeachment effort. There will be full coverage in Tuesday’s Planet Waves FM.

You came to this particular planet at this particular time to serve humanity. This may be in ways that seem large or that seem minor; it’s the sprit of service that counts. You have special gifts of wisdom, awareness and a certain kind of charm, and you can put those to work for the people you encounter. The benefit to you will be the rare experience of feeling like a whole person, being true to your nature and your calling.
Written in the Planets
A new astrological landscape is developing. Mercury has joined Jupiter in Libra, heading for a conjunction on Tuesday that will reveal how much sense things actually make. Yet this aspect is also an invitation to awareness, which means paying attention. It’s a reminder to use what you know. Jupiter represents the sum total of your knowledge, and Mercury represents what your mind is actively focused on. Over the next couple of days, as this aspect comes into alignment, putting the two together will be increasingly fruitful. You know more than you think; and putting your well-earned knowledge to work will provide you with significant returns on a small investment of your time and energy.
