Special Comment: Exciting Full Moon Coming
Usually astrologers tell you about the Full Moon right before it happens, but we’re here with a little early news. Taking place in Aries, coming up on Oct. 16, the Full Moon is conjunct Eris. It’s an amazingly close conjunction, just a sixth of a degree. Uranus, of course, is right there, less than a degree from the Moon. So this is THE Full Moon of the Uranus-Eris conjunction at its peak of intensity. If I were looking at this chart in 50 years, I would say that must have been an interesting week and dig into the New York Times archives and see what was going on. I’m just as curious today. From a personal standpoint, think of this event as a metaphysical wave that you can ride. Now is the time to get your surfboard in the water.

If Your Birthday is Oct. 4
(The Day of the Incorrigibles) | Get Your Birthday Reading
The Moon trine Chiron on your birthday is an invitation to emotional healing and relating more intimately to others. You may be born under an air sign, but you know that your emotions run deep, and lately, wide. Connect with yourself and you will find it both easy and appealing to connect with others.

Written in the Planets
Integrating mind and emotions is one of the challenges of being human, though it would be easier were we not so convinced that they’re unrelated experiences. Today’s contact between the Moon and Mercury is encouraging you to remember that you’re one being, united with yourself. It’s true that our psychic bodies have many facets. Sometimes it’s necessary to contrast what you believe and how you feel a few times before you start to see what the differences are telling you. Any one viewpoint that filters out others is probably not so useful. When trying to figure something out, you might ask: how do I feel? What do I think? What do I remember? What do I want?

This live audio class covers the most basic level of astrology: where things happen, the houses. If you understand the houses as environments and groups of themes, you can read a chart. We will hold the class by teleconference at noon EDT on Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016. You may sign up here.

“Sometimes it’s necessary to contrast what you believe and how you feel a few times before you start to see what the differences are telling you.”

Hmmm… I’ll have to ponder this a bit to see if it points me to any particular situation where it fits. But it’s a great idea — especially given the current political climate in the US. I suspect it would be a great exercise for anyone who’s so angry they’re planning to vote for trump, despite believing that cheating, lying and fleecing the government (i.e., your fellow taxpayers) is wrong.

Same on the Left: how do feelings about “needing to make a statement” or “needing change” and thoughts about actual competency or viability conflict with each other?

Amanda- I had a conversation this morning with a friend pondering on these points – the US election, voting with anger and/or against a candidate. What you believe and what is true.

It led me to consider the broader implications and significance of belief. Then I was reminded of something Eric has written (relating to the quote you selected). Thanks to the marvel of the google catalogue & retrieval system here it is:

“The concept of belief is one of the most significant and invisible issues of consciousness. Belief — not truth — often runs the world, and tends to run our lives. What we believe becomes what is true for us, and then that perceived truth refines itself. The problem is that most people have no clue what their beliefs really are; they are not articulated, nor subjected to critique. This is how people come to believe many things that have no basis in reality.”

In our technologically driven world now, we often cannot discern what we believe and what we feel… from the truth, the reality, and what we know from tangible experience. This is the key.

Technology, media, marketing, advertising…perpetuates emotional attachment, which begins to train our minds, in cahoots with our emotions, to believe that what we “feel” is the truth or the reality. We have to develop a keen and consistent ability to discern. To do that, we have to be able to cut through the clutter of all that media, marketing, advertising and technology…each and every day. To return to our core, our center, our individuality and our values; these are our true GPS.

Sounds so simple. And it is. Actually creating that in our day-to-day lives…not so simple!
