Completion — Venus Enters Capricorn

Len Wallick considers the return of Venus to visibility on the evening horizon, and its return to Capricorn Wednesday. There, Venus will meet again with Pluto, suggesting that you also look to new horizons, go out to meet others, and notice how your unique nature may complete what surrounds you.

Venus enters Capricorn at 11:42 am EST (16:42 UT) tomorrow with an implied sense of completion. Not an ending, please understand. As Eric recently pointed out in the context of the Gemini Full Moon, there are no endings in astrology because (with few exceptions) everything on the zodiac just keeps on moving without pause.

Completion in the astrological sense is not about endings. It is about meetings — or perhaps more properly, returns. So, in a very real sense Venus will be returning to Capricorn where it has traversed about once a year since before there were years.

For astrologers, completion can also mean two or more objects, points, or signs with complementary natures interacting so as to move into or away from balance with the the other(s) in some way.

You might call this interactive type of completion a form of continuous cosmic titration. It’s a process that hints at the constantly changing nature of a solution you might apply to a correlating issue in your life. Interestingly, this year’s ingress of Venus to Capricorn works toward finding the nature of a solution on several levels.

On the level of what you can see in the sky with your own eyes, Venus is returning to visibility after a long trip behind the Sun. Of course, whether you can see Venus in the West after sundown at this time depends on your weather, sight lines and latitude.

Before long, however, nearly all of us will be able to witness Venus rising on a new horizon. Which means that you will no longer have to wake up before the birds to witness the brightest planet in all its glory, as was the case earlier this year.

Hence, there is a sense of completion in having Venus appear on a new horizon in the sky. Perhaps you can apply that sense to understand and address any new horizons now appearing in your life. In order to do so, be bright like Venus and gradually rise to whatever occasion presents itself as a result of those new horizons. You might even want to emulate Venus to the point of gradually increasing your visibility after a long period of being less than apparent for whatever reason.

Speaking of new horizons, the spacecraft of the same name is on the last leg of its approach to Pluto (one of Eric’s top five events of 2015 featured in the readings and horoscopes of the upcoming annual edition: “Cosmophilia”), and we will soon get our first good look at astrology’s Little Big Planet. So happens Venus is entering Capricorn to conjoin with Pluto (and square Uranus in Aries) on Dec. 20.

Consider how the Uranus-Pluto square is a continuing story that is (as Eric has said many times) defining our era. Venus completing another cycle with Pluto on the zodiac (just as we are about get a good look at Pluto in space) indicates some possible solutions for how political events are playing out in your personal life.

First, make like the New Horizons spacecraft and go to meet. Especially if you can’t see things clearly, confront the personal problems that come with the political territory of our time by going to meet.

Go to city council meetings, for example. Or go to meetings of activists in your community, and see what’s happening from up close as complementary points of view meet and moderate each other (or not). Do this to better understand where your own interest fits in with anybody and everybody else. Who knows, your own presence might bring some completion and balance just as Venus will bring the same to Capricorn.

For as Venus enters Capricorn it will ingress a slice of the zodiac ruled by Saturn, where Mars is also exalted. For some time now Mars, first from Capricorn, and now from Aquarius (where Saturn co-rules with Uranus) has been in what astrologers call “mutual reception” with Saturn.

That’s because Saturn is currently in Scorpio, where Mars co-rules with Pluto. As result, much of how astrology has been expressing in your life lately may well have seemed unbalanced, or at least incomplete. That’s how, with Venus entering Capricorn tomorrow, some completion is in order with yet another example you can emulate — with the objective of bringing further balance and completion for your own life.

So, let’s review what you can do to be in stride with Venus from tomorrow until it leaves Capricorn behind to enter Aquarius early next year:

First, look to new horizons, which may already be appearing in your life. Be bright, rise to the occasion, and be visible in a way others will welcome for the illumination you bring.

Next, go to meet. Nearly everything in the sky, on the zodiac, and in the world is moving. To the extent you can, so should you. Move and get a good look at what’s going on from up close and personal. You might be surprised at what you find.

Finally, look for where your own unique nature and qualities will complete what is already there. Not to end, please remember, but to help determine the nature of what have possibly been elusive solutions.

Who knows, by simply showing up for a look, you could ultimately be the final piece in the greater and heretofore unrealized peace we have continuously been trying to find for so long. Don’t think so? How will you know unless you try?

After listening to a radio program on macular degeneration earlier, I read today’s offering wherein you speak of Venus returning to “visibility” and “seeing with your own eyes”, and I couldn’t help but think of the fixed star Alcyone in late Taurus, who is associated with the loss of vision. Looking up the transiting bodies at Serennu dot com, I saw that opposite Saturn at 28+ Scorpio was the Uranian Point Admetos at 28+ Taurus retrograde conjunct fixed star Alcyone. Since both Saturn and Admetos symbolize delays and endurance, and because Venus, when in Capricorn, is ruled by Saturn, I took it as suggested that there is value in delaying and enduring, even regarding that “unrealized peace” you speak of. Thought I’d mention it as these stars and planets and uranian points have a way of making you really search for meaning. Keep your eyes on the prize, eh?

At least she won’t be going retrograde in Capricorn like last year will she? Thanks for your encouragement on such a gloomy day Len.

That means Venus is just now separating from my North Node and GC. I’ve recently returned to open mic devotions after a few months laying low, my guitar unable to travel for lack of a decent case and also the revelation from playing a friend’s guitar that it wasn’t my technique holding me back but the fact that my old guitar didn’t fit my hand well. New guitar was one of the first things reflecting back to me from the discipline of my craft: a kind stranger paid for my new guitar because I liked the way I played it and wanted me to continue.

A year ago I was still complaining about my relative lack of connection: the crowd won’t stop talking, everyone’s playing country or butt rock: where’s all the elegant compositions? Well, upon my return with a guitar that fits my hand well I find that those things just don’t matter. Settling into the groove and disregarding the talking people ensures that the people who aren’t talking get a good performance. And then when I release attachment to whether or not people are talking they generally stop talking and listen. Then all those country guys? Well they’re some of the people telling me they like what I do. In the past week I’ve had a couple of people say they want to buy an album from me but I don’t have one.

Well, your post Len brings to light one of the astrological markers of this rhythm. My 2ndary progressed Venus just turned direct in Capricorn at the end of 2012. I only started my present incarnation as a singer~songwriter with a guitar in 2013 within months of the station direct. Well as for the Sagittarius North Node conjunct GC it seems that Venus gave me a glimpse of a view that includes a wide swath of the future, I just don’t know the details of how I get there just now. It was hard for me to sense the overall pattern back in 2013 cause I’ve been struggling to revive music in my life since I crashed it at the turn of the century and my impatience made me a little childish. No blame: each new project has a child aspect to it, where Beginner’s Mind serves better than Obstinate Old Goat. Well, anyway, dropping the impatience enables me to just practice my craft without attachment or dissing.

Waddaya know? When I don’t carry so much dissing in my energy field I don’t encounter as much coming back at me and when I do it doesn’t stick.

Barbara: i’m so very sorry it’s a gloomy day for you. You made it good day for us by cogently correlating the Uranian point Admetos with a fixed star because Uranian points and fixed stars could probably use some additional airing here (although Eric does a good job with both). It’s worth noting that Saturn will station direct next year (August 1) about where it is now. So, one thing to consider is whether Alcyone has alternative interpretations so you can “turn around” in a sense when Saturn does. Hopefully looking farther ahead will serve to extend horizons even as you continually enhance ours.

wandering_yeti: Speaking of a turnaround! Thank you for sharing your inspiring epiphany. i can feel your transformation from here! Wow!

    M.: You are most welcome!

Look to new horizons – be bright – rise to the occasion – go to meet – look for where your own unique nature and qualities will complete what is already there – show up.

Inspiring words to live by each and every day… Thank you, Len! xo

On Dec 7, the one clear day we’ve had in this stormy month, I saw Venus in my binoculars for the first time. Between Solstice and Christmas Eve she’ll be easily visible conjunct the young moon. This marks the first gate of the ascent phase of the Venus cycle, the nature source of the myth of Inanna, and a key of the Mayan calendar. This Venus cycle in Capricorn is the energy if the Grandmother. Apt that you mention showing up actively in local/tribal government, because that is the elder feminine wisdom missing from government since patriarchy. The ascendant wisdom of the grandmothers and elders coming forth during the final exact squares of Uranus/Pluto is the benchmark of this era. More than hope, it is a call and a responsibility to answer the call actively, visibly, like that bright light in the west. As challenging as the descent phase has been, emphasized in the astrology of 2014, the ascent will be even more so. The ascent brings evident change, and change invites, and demands, resistance, within and from the outside. Completion: it’s not a moment, it’s an ongoing stand for truth, while that which is over and done rages and crumbles. Arm in arm we stand. Let’s make a party of it!

( I concede the balance of my time to the gentleman astrologer from Seattle.)

Thanks DivaCarla regarding Venus’s Capricorn part of the cycle being the Grandmother (wisdom) energy. That meshes with what astrology has been suggesting this past year and even longer, with the transits of the asteroids Vesta, Pallas, Juno and dwarf planet Ceres. It also complements Venus’s retrograde period next year. Here is what Emily Trinkaus, in her article “2015 Forecast: Everything Is In Divine Order” from The Mt. Astrologer magazine, Dec. 2014/Jan. 2015 issue says:

“Venus’s station [retrograde] on Regulus [fixed star which has left Leo and moved into Virgo] and her extended stay in Leo punctuate this big-picture project of reuniting and reconfiguring the sacred feminine and sacred masculine, and altering the archetype of authority and leadership. Describing this changing of the guard, Wendy Guy writes: “We are collectively trying to create a marriage of equals between opposite (and, historically, conflicting) archetypes that will be based on mutual respect and cooperation.”” This sounds wise to me!

She goes on to say that “during Venus retro, we’re called inward to rethink values and priorities, reconsider our relationships, and focus on self-love and self-nurturing.” Something Len will be talking about this summer, I’m sure.

    sojourn: You are very welcome.

DivaCarla: Thank you so very much for an appropriately beautiful elucidation of the Venus cycle, and its correlations to not only myth but our own reality at this time. Looking forward to understanding the ascent phase further with you into 2015.

Barbara: Speaking of beautiful, thank you for bringing Ceres, Pallas, Juno, and Vesta – all of which have been popping up all over the place in hoary and elective charts recently. Special thanks for supporting Diva Carla with a resonant reference to reconfiguration towards “…mutual respect and cooperation.”

wandering yeti — so good to hear of the transformations and insights along your journey! and congrats on the guitar insight — and the benefactor. what lovely rewards, hard-earned as they may be.

Len, I am letting this post all the way in. What you have written is deep, well wrought, and wonderfully relevant and helpful to me. Thank you.

And DivaCarla, I love what you wrote as well. This leaps at me from my screen: “Completion: it’s not a moment, it’s an ongoing stand for truth, while that which is over and done rages and crumbles. Arm in arm we stand.” I would add that the rage being expressed because #BlackLivesMatter *is* an ongoing stand for truth. I stand arm in arm with you and everyone who is gathering to make that stand.

    Blessings to you all.

Well Len, one of my art arrangements is in full expression, presently hanging on Main Street for all to see! This is about as visible as I have ever been. Kind of feeling out there, and naked.. I hardly recognize myself. Still like Venus -from where I have come from, and through, this is a huge step for me. And, to openly acknowledge and receive recognition, even more so.. It’s been a long road in in the leading and getting here.

Thank you Len as ever, for showing us your presence, guidance, and encouragement. In true Venus spirit and fashion! : )

Len, my whole being, especially my heart, beamed with your warm, loving response. I am honored to be linking arms with you, too. I’ve never thought of myself as emulating Venus before. How wonderful and humbling to consider. Hail, Venus! And hail, Len Wallick!
