You are close to cutting yet another thread that has bound you to your past, in particular your parents and their perception of you. As anyone who has done more than three therapy sessions knows, our loyalty to our parents — in particular, to their perception of who we are — is one of the greatest impediments to fulfillment that exists. Then there come those moments when we are faced with the choice between being loyal and miserable, or disloyal and free. The question in such moments is what we actually value. If you dig down to that strata of consciousness, I trust you’ll see that the choice, though it may seem complicated, is pretty obvious.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Capricorn weekly for April 16, 2015.

True confidence comes from the inside. It’s also a misunderstood concept, taken to mean certainty or cockiness. It’s no such thing. Confidence means ‘with fidelity’, which is another way of saying with faith, or with trust. Seen that way, it’s based in uncertainty rather than a sense of knowing, but that can lead to a sublime kind of boldness that you would very much appreciate now. I suggest you work with this gently. Remember that confidence is something you build with experience rather than wait for; it’s a process of slowly figuring it out. As part of that experience, it helps if you don’t try to talk yourself out of anything, or make matters more complicated than they are. It’s also clear that the talent or skill you think you’re the least capable of is the one where you have the greatest gift. But I cannot convince you of that; you can, however, discover it if you want.

It’s difficult to assess which area of your life will take greater precedence in the coming seasons: your work or your home. It might be best to think of them as one process or combined subject. Are you at home in your work? Is your home a place where you’re expected to labor unreasonably hard? Can you integrate your business affairs and your inner emotional growth in a way that’s more comfortable than you have done it in the past and conducive to progress rather than resistance? Surely from this point onward one cannot come at the expense of the other.

On one level, you may feel like you’re on an entirely inner journey that can lead only to the center of your being; on another level, everyone in your life is involved, and is receiving some impression of who you are and what you offer. You are in the spotlight, but you’re not performing, there is really no script, and whatever you do comes from your inner core and extends out to the world.

A variety of factors are enabling you to move into and take over the inner psychological spaces once occupied by the concepts “mother” and “father.” This is allowing you to make two significant maneuvers, which are really halves of the same thing. First is redefining your idea of success and achievement. The second is redefining your idea of security. The distortions of the past made it seem like success was gained at the expense of others, and security to the exclusion of others. No such thing is true, nor ever was. Cooperation is an art form, and is worth a lifetime of learning.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Pisces weekly for Nov. 14, 2016.

You are letting go of some old ideas about yourself, ideas that don’t work for you. Some could be called delusions, and others could be called illusions. Some were lies you were told about yourself and others are ones you made up. They’re all the same thing; pull the plug and drain the pool. A lot is said in supposed spiritual circles about how the past no longer exists and it’s an illusion and all that. If that’s true, how come the world is drowning in its own history? Why ever that may be, you can allow and cooperate with releasing your own history. Your desire and your willingness to do so are the catalysts. Then you must align yourself with the process at the same time you take concrete steps forward. You must be bold because this is a bold moment, and you are being summoned to leadership.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Virgo weekly for May 3, 2004.

You’re still sorting out the consequences of unexpected developments in a situation involving shared resources or commitments. Contracts are meaningful only to the extent that they are negotiated in good faith. That’s another word for genuine honesty and fully expressed intentions. Rather than deciding whether you won or lost this round of the game, I suggest you size up the situation from the standpoint of integrity. Remember, it is reasonable to change your mind when you have to, and it usually pays off properly in the end.
