What an unusual space you’re in — like you are riding on a horse made of lightning, at the same time the capacity for absolute focus has taken hold of your mind. You have more energy available and you’re able to do something with it. Yet in this space it’s essential to send yourself positive messages. The most significant will be to affirm your intelligence and the relevance of your perceptions. You may be depending on those faculties now more than you have any time recently, and you may think that there are many other ‘better minds’ who could do what you do better. Any such thought is merely a self-esteem trap. The thing to remember about your mind is that it works differently, intuitively and creatively. This is true whether you think of yourself as ‘creative’ or ‘intuitive’. When you feel the difference between you and others, specifically in terms of thought patterns, that is the most meaningful difference. You’re also able to perceive a larger world with more colors and nuances, and those around you who cannot perceive those things can lead you to doubt yourself. So, you could say that the question of this era in your life, and the central growth (or healing) focus (as you choose) is: what’s it going to take for you to trust your senses and the mind behind them? The answer that comes to mind is experience, yet the truth is, you already have plenty of that.

When a vulnerability is exposed, we generally have two choices: panic, or act. Looked at this way, any time you notice a weakness or flaw, you can respond in a constructive way and turn it into an opportunity. The way your life is developing, I suggest you take a slow, disciplined approach to dealing with a problem you recently noticed. Review all your thought patterns associated with it, and take a structured approach to resolving the matter. The beneficial effects will go far beyond what you are anticipating. Other issues that in the past seemed too trivial to address, or to difficult to cope with, will be easy to take care of. Remember that part of any repair process is getting enough rest. This may not be easy with the bursts of activity that are developing in your friendships, partnerships and other aspects of your relationship life. Make sure you know your first priority is taking care of yourself. Do what you need to do, and you will have plenty of time and energy for anything else.

What seems at one moment like a study in psychology or psychological baggage soon enough evolves into an opportunity to participate and take action. You won’t need to go looking for anyone or anything — a situation that has been a background priority for a while makes itself known to you, in a practical way.

If you’ve ever been in therapy, maybe you got to this point once or twice: you realize that the complicated psychology of other people is too much to deal with, and it’s not your problem anyway. As an antithesis to the games people play, both with themselves and with others, you merely have to notice how people treat you, including whether they mean what they say. You can cut all the games short by using these basic criteria. It helps a lot if you stop trying to understand the seemingly complex and sometimes self-defeating motives of others, and focus exclusively on what drives you. As you grow to understand yourself better, others will become increasingly transparent. Some people are motivated by the desire for communication and community. Others spend their lives avoiding this. While it’s never really possible to sort humanity into two distinct camps, people tend to lean one way or the other. Now, think of this as the one question you have for yourself: Which is your preference, and how do you express it?

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Pisces monthly for Aug. 24, 2007

Fair to say that something you were not expecting to happen, yet have been working toward for a long time, manifests suddenly this month. The Sept. 11 solar eclipse in Virgo serves as a kind of time warp, which you can ride toward catching up with a plan, idea, concept or dream that has been in the works perhaps since 2003. It may have gone through many revisions and revolutions, but something is ready to hatch. What you’ve accomplished during that time mainly involves developing the kind of self-assurance that comes only from asserting who you really are, and seeing the results. Remember that long ago, you gave up your reluctance to push others into getting your way, setting themselves free. Among the discoveries of the coming weeks is how willing some people close to you are to wake up and pay attention. As for the rest — you’ll find out where they stand, and don’t take it personally. We live in strange times, when many neither understand the pressure they are under, the responsibilities they face, nor why they believe what they believe. Don’t let anyone’s doubts influence you.
