Beneath the carefree image you project to the world is a person deeply committed to propriety, integrity and knowing what drawer your socks are in. Having suddenly come to the realization of what is supremely important to you, you may now feel the time has arrived to act on that, to take charge and in some way to get others to live up to your values. You don’t need to do this aggressively. It would be better if you kept your focus on yourself, and on doing what you know is right. That will send a signal, and part of that signal is an invitation to people who share your values to support your mission.

If you don’t want your best efforts to be scattered, or your best ideas to get lost in translation, you’ll need to focus your message and your mission. It’s always true that from concept to expression to actual impact there’s often a series of transformations that can rarely be predicted. Yet at the center of the process, you do exert a great deal of influence. This comes several ways, one of which is being sensitive to your intuition and creative flashes, and then responding. In other words, don’t ignore yourself. Another is being the sole person responsible for communication with any other people who may be involved, because this is how you keep some semblance of coordination. Finally, you need to be the person who determines what direction ‘forward’ is, then guide yourself and others that particular way. People are counting on you, but more to the point, you are counting on yourself.

You may be inclined to wonder whether you are gaining or losing influence through the current turn of events, and much depends on how you interpret the developments and your role in them. There’s actually very little you need to do, but you will definitely need to make certain key decisions, and make them at just the right moment. One of the most crucial lessons of politics, which is most definitely involved in the game you’re playing, is that one does not do anything alone; there are always people assisting both in front of the scenes and behind them. The best possible outcome for you will involve a significant meeting or arrangement between two people whose relationship to you seems to be indirect. But since you’ll be a beneficiary of what develops, it would serve everyone for you to make sure as many situations as possible have positive outcomes. This will set the pattern for many months to come.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Leo monthly for Nov. 27, 2006

Saturn in your birth sign has turned out to be more productive than you thought. The Grateful Dead’s lyricist, in one of the band’s later songs, penned the memorable line, “If I were the Sun, I would run for shade,” a healthy image of this transit. Saturn is a harsh teacher only when we insist on losing touch with reality, which is to lose touch with ourselves, our environment and our sense of mission. Working within your limits, respecting authority and moreover, taking over as your own inner authority are the practical ideas we need to take aboard. The boss is only a problem when we see her outside ourselves, as someone apart and with separate interests. But this boss tends to be a relic of everyone from parents, teachers and over-zealous Boy Scout leaders, whose ideas of authority we have not addressed within ourselves. Saturn always makes us stretch across the gap between the individual and collective, and his motto in Leo is ‘the greatest good for all concerned’. It’s worth a chance.

If you cannot accomplish something by one method, you can definitely accomplish it by another. For example, if you cannot change another person, it’s absolutely certain you can change yourself. I don’t mean to accommodate who someone else is — I mean to accommodate who you are. Said another way, if you cannot change your circumstances (which I doubt), you can change how you respond to them (and that will clue you in to where change is not only possible but inevitable). That said, for the next few days I suggest you proceed cautiously. Don’t push your health. Drive the speed limit, and particularly when traveling, do so with your mind rested and alert. Focus on basic self-care. Your best ideas and breakthroughs will manifest where you leave a clear space. In moments when you don’t feel like you’re getting anything done, do less rather than more and you will make some brilliant, efficient moves.

You need to make some important financial decisions, and you need to do this with a sense of focus and adventure. The more you narrow your goals and your financial commitments, the more opportunity will open up for you. The two are related, and the connection point involves the conservation of energy, which includes both money and mental resources. And it involves focusing your eyes, so that you can see. More than you may imagine is available to you. Let go of the standard of perfection — you may not even be aware you drag this around. There is such a thing as good enough, and you are quite close to that point right now. Someone you are associating with on some pretty important matters needs to cross about two more mental hurdles to have your full trust. Give them a chance.

Your life is about to become a color wheel of experience. A phase of rather awesome experimentation is coming wherein you will be able to become one version of yourself after the next. One potential problem you face is that to do this, you’ll need to embrace a series of fast changes, which is not quite your specialty. Get used to it, because unpredictable experience is very much the theme of the seasons ahead. You face the continued risk of becoming who or whatever you perceive others want you to be, in part based on your desire to keep them in your life. But there is no one person, or group of people, who can determine your identity or the course of your existence. They will shape you, but the final choices must be your own.
