Pay attention to the conditions at the beginning of any story or circumstance to get a sense of how it’s likely to work out. Pay attention to the presence of unresolved material from the last cycle, because it’s likely to be carried over into the next one. Aspects of yourself that you think of as inherent or unable to change are the ones that are caught on this treadmill. It can, at first, take an enormous amount of will power (conscious intention, followed up by action, with the results reinvested in intention) to get out of a cycle wherein history repeats itself. But there is something else at work. It’s about belief. Usually, belief is an unconscious process; the decision to accept something as true or not is rarely preceded by actual thought and contemplation. I suggest you watch this process in action — particularly when it comes to what you believe about yourself. It’s not all true.

Mars making its way across your birth sign since early August has come with many challenges. It’s as if you’ve had every fight you can ever have. This will be true for a while — until the next opportunity for conflict arises, in which case you get to make a conscious choice based on what you’ve learned so recently. We could sum up the underlying question this way: How can you relate to your environment in such a way that allows you to state what you need, but without having that become a point of contention? The question you might ask yourself is, why do you associate your own needs and desires with guilt? This is a question with an answer, which I suggest you investigate. Making contact with this deep-seated conflict will help you live in harmony with your environment. You don’t like to be told what to do, especially in your own home. Yet you have some commitments to others that call on you to share your physical and emotional space. If you experience this as a potential source of pleasure, you’ll have a lot more fun.

It is so good to see that life is turning around for you and if you feel that it is not please have faith. For years I have plotted the Sagittarius charts and wondered why it was so difficult and squirmed to find the words to express hope, caution and possibility so that I could actually convey these things to you. It always seemed that your real struggle was not originating from the outside though it rarely seems this way when we are in the thick of it all. But now you can see the power, beauty and freedom that are available when you make contact with the inner being who has been trying to reach you all along. And I suggest that when certain outer crises just vanish like smoke, don’t ask why — just respond to life’s invitations as you feel appropriate, and remember everything is an invitation.

You have time to correct an exaggeration or over-reaction that occurred earlier in the week, though without seeming like you’re acting in a lurch. Check back over the past few days and see if you’re not still under the influence of some event, questionable information or social interaction that pushed things out of proportion. Adjust your perspective; set some limits on your own responses and make sure you check the validity of every fact involved. With some conscious boundary setting you will be able to guide the situation back into both a realistic scale as well as take advantage of some mutual benefit you may not have seen at first. By mutual I mean something that everyone benefits from. Be vigilant against exaggerations, gossip or repeating anything at all that you have not personally verified. Don’t count on others to demonstrate maturity and restraint — that’s clearly your role.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Sagittarius weekly for Oct. 19, 2012

You may be making one discovery after the next about what is going on in the depths of your psyche. This is at once liberating, pleasurable, painful and daunting, or perhaps these sensations are coming in waves and various combinations. Most of all, it’s necessary, particularly in an era when the most powerful psychological force is denial, which is another way of saying ‘keeping secrets from ourselves’. Now, there are a few factors to be aware of at this juncture. One is that the deeper you go, the more you may encounter a new kind of loneliness. As you keep going, you’re then likely to discover a new kind of self-presence, which you have, in the past, had a tendency to cover over by involving yourself with others. Now, no other person can get in the way of your relationship to yourself, and further, I strongly suggest you select people to be with on the basis that they not only ‘support’ but actively encourage you in your relationship to yourself. Here is the catch: there’s a degree to which they must be left out of that very process, which means that jealous people are not your friend. Far from it.

You need to weigh carefully the possibility that other people know what’s best for you. I know you’re not above acknowledging this. There is a lot to be said for making your own decisions, and no doubt, your instincts have you on high alert at the moment. You may have the feeling you’re avoiding a health issue, which may translate to a mental health issue. I don’t see a reason to rush to a conclusion and I see a few reasons to take a deep breath and gather information. The most important facts you need are elements of historical data from your own life. Trace the history of the situation, collect dates, and get a sense of when your fears were running the highest. That alone will speed your healing, and give you concrete information to work with if you seek expert advice.

Our current years, if you ask me, stand out as some of the more interesting times in the history of religion. It was the Austrian psychoanalyst Carl Jung who warned that most religion is a cover-up for, or designed as protection from, direct religious experience. In short, today we are tending to move past doctrine and back into direct contact with the numinous, often looking right at the great mystery. Your charts tell me you are in the midst of a new kind of spiritual awakening or renewal, though it may not feel that way. Your tendency to think of God or Goddess through filters, tradition or structure may seem like it’s getting in the way, though I suggest you let it serve as a conduit for your dawning reality. When in doubt, go deeper into your spiritual tradition, and seek not only for what it teaches about right thought, but also about right action.

Sex is like seawater, in that it contains nearly every element of consciousness. Many have noted the similarities between blood and seawater, both of which are like the ocean that refuses no river. This is more than a metaphor. Notice how your sexual ideas, emotions and experiences contain all of your feelings about yourself. Notice the overlay and exchange between yourself and the people close to you, including in fantasy experiences, dreams and the odd things that people say. Among erotic experiences there are times for blending energies more deeply, and times for sorting out who is who. At the moment, the cosmos is revealing a specific difference between you and someone close to you — which may translate to a difference between you and everyone else in the world. Yet this is the kind of distinction that can have a way of bringing people closer. True individuality provides the basis for respect and the authentic sharing of common ground much more often than it does the basis for separation.
