Today’s Oracle takes us to the Gemini weekly for Jan. 30, 2009.

Capricorn for you is the sign of agreements, and that’s where your ruling planet Mercury is coming to a stop, turning around and returning to forward motion. You may feel like some understanding or arrangement is demanding more alterations than a tailor sees in a month. Accusations or the sense that everyone is a flake may be circulating. Don’t take this too seriously, and try to be polite as everyone works out the details. This is not the time to get attached to any one plan. Rather, it’s the time to assess the available information and make your decisions based on that. Given that this most important thing is the one you’re most likely to forget when you need it most, I would sum it up thus: pay attention and use what you know.

You’re hearing from just about every direction except a singing, dancing kangaroo in your bathtub that you need to open yourself a little more to the influences of the wider world, and put your feet on an unfamiliar patch of ground. Go someplace high up and look out at creation. Survey the territory and scan through your life from that perspective. Imagine what it would be like to live in another country and, seriously, can you get yourself to one any time soon? You’re not as attached to where you are as you may think. It’s okay and everything, but you may have someplace else on your mind.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Taurus monthly for January 1999.

Let the Galactic Record reflect that in 1999, in many places a gallon of gasoline costs less than a gallon of water. Isn’t that sick? Water is a pure, unprocessed and non-taxed substance; gasoline must be mined, shipped a great distance, refined in a putrid and complex process, shipped another great distance and then sold at retail with heavy taxes added in. Yet we pay a price for this bargain. Instead of processing their toxic wastes, petroleum companies dump them into the air, earth and water, saving a cost that would eat up all their profits; hence, we eat and drink their toxic sludge; hence, water sold by the bottle. Is this a fair price to pay for cheap gas? Some would say so. Now for a bold question: In what ways are you doing this in your life? Are you exploiting your future and your natural resources at the cost of your creativity, your health and long-term sustainability? The transit of Saturn into rock-solid Taurus suggests a mighty crisis of values for our culture, and for you, an extended time of drawing clear limits about what is truly important. All the major areas of your life must come into question: Your personal identity, your relationships, your parents, your past — and, most important, where you truly want to travel in life. Who do you aspire to be? Do you secretly harbor ambitions (or terror) of being nobody? Or are you finally figuring out that you possess a creative force to be reckoned with? In honor of Saturn, I would propose as your mantra for the year some wisdom I once gleaned from a fortune cookie: “Be resolutely who you are. Be humbly who you aspire to be.”

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Gemini weekly for Oct. 31, 2008.

An ongoing situation is now calling upon you to throw away science, reason and most of the facts, and proceed based on intuition. This is a way of letting go of your preconceptions and allowing some new information to enter your awareness from a source you cannot readily identify. The source, obviously, is you, and rather than pointing to something mystical (which you might be inclined to think), what you are really learning about is a testament to the complexity and beauty of the human mind. Here is the catch: the information you come up with intuitively may seem counter-intuitive; that is, it may appear to violate common sense. Yet on some level it will fit the situation or at least summon you to give it a go. This is clearly one example of you won’t know until you try. You cannot test it in theory.

You’re likely to be feeling a strong pull to go beyond what you know, far past anything you’ve ever experienced. The only catch is, you must not limit your thinking to your own town or your own country. And please don’t let anyone else’s limited ideas stop you.

Imagine for a moment that your life is a four-way intersection at which you’ve pulled up. If you look behind you, in the direction from which you came, you’ll see a lot of traffic, congestion and confusion which you’re clearly trying to leave behind. If you look in the direction where you want to go, you’ll see a dimly lit horizon that’s unfamiliar, inviting and challenging. But the past is also calling you and, for the moment, you are hesitating. And there are turns to the left and right. In a short time, the way will be clear and the right decision will be obvious. And that choice, made from a state of peace, will for some reason that may seem strange or impossible, have the greatest positive effect on your heath than anything you’ve done in recent years.

Today’s Oracle takes us to the Cancer monthly for May 2014.

When you meet someone new, something that seems likely to be happening frequently for you right now, go right to the level of values. Cut past the superficiality and niceties and do your best to identify what you actually have in common with the person. Listen for clues about what he or she counts as the most significant elements of their existence. Listen for what matters to them. You don’t have time for anything else. What matters, that is, what exists on the values level, is the foundation of the relationship. You can only build on a foundation, so if you’re looking to create something, or to have your encounters with others serve a productive purpose, establish whether that deeper layer exists. It is unlikely to be based on appearances or the fact that you might be in the same line of work, or like similar music. You must be perceptive, and take into account both first impressions and what you learn over time. Notice when you’re ‘overlooking’ things or pretending they don’t matter. I have observed that people will indeed tell you where they are coming from, and that the only thing you need to do is listen and use the information you collect. What I am talking about here is the cultivation of trust. There are rare instances when trust is intuitive, and that intuition is correct. More often, you must use your conscious mind.
