You may at once feel like a vastly gifted person, though at times racked by fits of insecurity. This is an opportunity to address both — what to do with your gifts, and what to do with your insecurity. The two don’t cancel one another out. But you will ultimately choose one or the other. Remember this basic equation: You cannot be self-possessed and reject yourself at the same time. You cannot love yourself and doubt yourself at the same time. Self-possession is acceptance and love means surrendering your doubt to some other force in your personality that will guide you in the direction you want and need to go. More than anything I suggest you learn the talent of generosity with yourself, rising above any influences to the contrary that may well have run your life until now.

Perhaps the time has come when you begin to realize how much emphasis you put on your personal value system. How much do you use your resources to reflect that to the outside world? It is hard sometimes finding the point where philosophy and practicality meet, but it is a quest worth taking in order to make a stronger, more powerful whole. Picture a toolbox heavy with tools, yet the carpenter insists on only using the hammer to build an entire house. How hard would that be? What would the house look like? At times it is best to use the hammer. But when it comes to shaping and smoothing, perhaps the carpenter should dig to the bottom of the box to find the best tool for the purpose.

To keep your life in balance, for now the change needs to come from the inside out and your rather intense drive for renovation is about clearing inner closets and tearing down emotional walls rather than the symbolic ones in the rooms that surround you. Today’s Oracle takes us to the Aquarius monthly for March 2000.

Whatever it would take to help you feel safe on the planet, you have a lot of it right now. We all live in a kind of crisis of security, everyone from a drug dealer afraid his operation will get raided, to a billionaire packing away extra millions “just in case,” to a working mom afraid she will get fired from the job that is supposedly her lifeline. An Aquarian view of security, in my sense of things, is more of an intellectual abstraction: for example, can I feel safe within this idea about life, or within this definition of my relationships? Sure, most people would say you are nuts, that you would take solace in an intellectual construct rather than from the fact that your belly or refrigerator is full. But whatever that abstract concept of safety is, whatever that construct may be, you can learn right now what makes you feel protected on the planet, now and forever.
