Planet Waves Horoscope for Feb. 16, 2017 #1139 | By Eric Francis Coppolino

Note: the following horoscopes are excerpts from the 2017 annual readings for each sign, The Book of Your Life. If you have not yet purchased one or more of these chapter-length, year-ahead readings for yourself, you may order all 12 signs here, or choose individual signs here.

Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You may notice for the first time just how edgy you’ve been feeling, and decide that you need to pull in a little bit, or seek some refuge in the friendly, benefic arms of whatever Jupiter in Libra represents. One possibility is a wise teacher. Jupiter among other things is a representative of your 9th house of ethics and spirituality. I suggest you use this transit to orient yourself on people who set the example of doing the right thing. This is true of any relationship or partnership you’re in. Tap into the knowledge and wisdom of people around you, and focus on the ones who are the most generous with it. Another representation of Jupiter is even more interesting. It also is associated with your 12th house, Pisces. You might think of Jupiter, in one expression, as representing some version of your inner self. This could manifest a number of ways. One is as someone who is in harmony with your deepest inner life. You will encounter people who seem to already know your secrets and have at least a partial map to your hidden world. However, given that we are talking about a planet associated with excessively dualistic Pisces that is in let’s-weigh-and-balance Libra, there’s another side to the story. You will probably have a series of meetings with people who represent your shadow side. These are likely to be the people who irritate you the most. They have something to show you. They will really teach you something about yourself if you’re paying attention. The thing to do is to keep an open mind, be flexible, and try to retain your sense of humor. Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Taurus is one of the most mental signs. Yes, Taurus is associated with comfort and wealth and nice things and tangible experiences, and it’s also a huge, astounding head-trip. Your ability to get that head-trip under control is one of the most significant factors in your ability to harness your creative force. I’ll keep this short, though I think you’ll appreciate having this information to work with. Gemini is your 2nd solar house, or 2nd house by whole-sign houses if you are Taurus rising. The 2nd house is a direct extension of who you are. It represents your values; first and foremost, what you hold to be true. It also represents possessions including your body, your available resources including your money, the tools of your trade, and your sense of self-worth or self-respect. It turns out that one of the most solid and physical signs has one of the most airy and ethereal 2nd houses. This helps explain why you really have to work to hold onto your money. Gemini flows; you need your money to stick. The best thing you can do is work with the flow: constantly skim from yourself, and deposit your savings into a bank account you don’t touch or even think about. Also, you need to invest in things of lasting value. Finally, remember that your ideas are your most important resource, especially in a year with retrograde Mercury conjunct the Sun when the Sun enters your sign. This emphasizes all things Mercury this year. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Having Pisces as one’s sign associated with career can feel like a first-time author walking into the International Book Show, wondering where she might fit in. Pisces is the great delta of the zodiac that flows out to the vast cosmic ocean. It’s difficult to gain perspective with Pisces, or to notice where you might fit the scenario at hand. In this way, you may experience your highest aspirations as being far from your reach, or beyond your abilities. You might experience your moments of success as something lacking context or significance in the wider scheme of things. Alternately, you may see your own potential as being limitless and containing all possibilities. And then you would need to find access points into that limitless reality. You’re the one who has to negotiate between your potential and what you do with it. This is an active, everyday challenge being a Gemini. The world can seem so much bigger than you are, and in one way it is — but your mind is the thing that encompasses the world, all the world’s people and all your experiences there. That means that your primary growth task is expanding and deepening your consciousness. What you have going for you are several key talents. One is your flexibility, your ability to adapt. You are a master of language, and communicate with nearly anyone. You could get a laugh out of a riot-police officer in full regalia. You have a gleam and charm to your personality that makes you nearly irresistible for others to relate to. This is your passport to all that seems beyond you: converse with it and see where that leads. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The internet is a robot. Humans become like the tools that we create, and humanity is fast becoming an automaton. In fact humans are faster becoming robots than robots are becoming human. Artificial intelligence is not very intelligent, but the artificial stupidity that many humans and society are adopting is indeed disturbing. You need to remind yourself that you are not an android, nor are the people you work for, work with, or provide your services to. This means that in all of your professional affairs, you must do your utmost to be a person — the person that you are. One of the gifts of your sign is your value on what is familial, on what is tactile and what has feeling. These are the assets that you must bring to your work, even and especially if your work is in the digital realm. This translates first to being highly adept within the digital realm, and then to utilizing as many in-person meetings as possible, and telephone or Skype when that is not practical. You want the human touch in everything that you do, and the feeling of quality. Use physical mail whenever you have the chance to do so. Use high-quality paper, handwriting when appropriate, and your very best courtly manners in all that you do. If you have any control at all over this, make sure that humans answer the phone where you do business rather than those annoying interactive systems. In other words, go retro. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — On the day the Sun enters your sign, it does so in a conjunction with several planets, including Mars. Energy, drive, individuality, self-assertion: Mars will help you with all of these. Mars conjunct the Sun in Leo is pure cardio, the pump of vitality. Mars and the Sun are conjunct a little-known centaur planet called Thereus, which has just entered your birth sign and will be with you through 2020. In one manifestation Thereus represents aggression and warriorship, though not necessarily the spiritual kind of warriorship. The message here is to moderate your energy. As the year develops, you may find yourself increasingly driven to conquer, rebel or revolt; a gentler approach will serve you better. The thing to beware of is frustration. By beware, I mean be aware. You will act differently when you’re irritated and when you feel like your efforts are getting you little for your work. That’s the time to stop and think. Thereus has an interesting property of what you might call multiple solutions or multiple workarounds. If you do something not-so-Mars-like — contemplate your situation — you will see that there are many ways through whatever puzzle or maze you’re looking at. You might take as your motto, ‘There is a better way’. When you solve a problem, try to solve it again, only better the second or third time. Look for a more elegant solution. When you see your way through a social pattern, look more closely for additional information or ideas. The ultimate answer to any social puzzle can be found in considering whether or not you feel equal to the people around you, and why. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Transpluto is not a planet but rather a kind of mental phantom, technically called a hypothetical. It exists only in mathematics, in computer programs, and in the minds of some few astrologers. It’s still newly in Virgo, at the beginning of an approximately 75-year journey across your sign. Transpluto would be less meaningful were it not so obviously relevant. It represents the principles of narrowness, contraction, perfectionism and high focus. There can also be a do-it-yourself obsession. Researcher Lynn Koiner describes the ‘reformer complex’ as a key attribute of Transpluto, which can translate in the personal sense to an obsession with self-improvement. When we consider your naturally self-critical nature, all of this tells me you must ease back on these qualities rather than lean into them. You have plenty; your momentum will carry you, if you stay out of your own way. There comes that time in any growth or improvement project where you have to ease back, have a glass of wine or even smoke a cigarette. Radical, I know. However, you’re at a stage of your life where you must follow your own rules, and to do that, your rules must be practical and workable. There’s no point setting goals that you cannot meet. Often Transpluto represents an internalized authority complex: a kind of inner persecutor. Nearly everyone on the planet was born with Transpluto in Leo, which describes a certain pervasive self-esteem complex that we experience on a pandemic scale. The very most important work of growth, of therapy, or of any spiritual process, is addressing this internalized persecutor. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — There is no way to understate the impact of digital life on human relationships. A philosopher named Eric McLuhan wrote recently, “The body is everywhere assaulted by all of our new media, a state which has resulted in deep disorientation of intellect and destabilization of culture throughout the world. In the age of disembodied communication, the meaning and significance and experience of the body is utterly transformed and distorted.” We are under this influence 24/7, and it’s particularly intense for you at this time, as we’re right in the peak power of the Uranus-Eris formation. Because so much of what you want in relationships involves relating through the body, whether emotionally, physically, aesthetically or as an artist, you might take heed of this idea. Account for the distortion created by fragmented consciousness. Look at your life story. Check in with the people around you. Notice what is different and distinctive about the past five to seven years. Part of the anesthesia we’re all under involves mood-altering drugs, substances that make it difficult to be honest about personal material and which suppress sexual feelings. Whether or not you use these medications, you’re in a world where many, many other people do. Understanding the influence of this would be another item to add to your agenda. Alcohol permeates society like a river running down through the generations and out into the streets. The pressure to be monogamous combined with natural sexual curiosity and a nonstop barrage of advertising and porno can create a toxic mix that turns explosive. It’s amazing anyone has any happiness at all in their relationships, though by some miracle, people sometimes do — and you can. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — One of the most interesting features of what was named the Thoth Tarot is the Scorpio card. This is Atu (key, or major arcana card) XIII or Death. It’s unlike any other death card I’ve ever seen. The main image is a black skeleton, awake and alert, holding a scythe, the tool of the grim reaper. The skeleton seems to be enmeshed in spiral strands that look like puppet strings, and which reach to the upper right corner of the card. Woven into the spirals are what look like fetuses or ghosts. Those represent entities from our genetic past. We are them and they are us. It was not until 1953 that a scientist named Francis Crick made the first accurate sketch of the famous mirroring spirals of the DNA molecule, an understanding of the structure that is still accepted today. Harris and Crowley had come startlingly close to the accurate model a decade earlier. So what is DNA doing in the Death card? And what’s the whole death thing with Scorpio? And what has that got to do with the association of Scorpio and sex? The connection is the theme of your sign: the mysteries of life and death. The presence of DNA immediately implies sex, because DNA is the very substance of sexual reproduction. Let’s consider a couple of other symbols in the card. One detail is that the skeleton is black. When you’re looking at an image and something is drawn the opposite of its usual color, the artist is telling you to pay attention. Most skeletons you see, the dead kind, are white. A black skeleton is sending the opposite message, of life and of existence. So we know that the card called “death” is really about life. And life is conveyed through sexual communion. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — In the Organon, Samuel Hahnemann’s treaties on healing, he says, “If something aggravates, remove it.” You would be amazed (or perhaps not) at what an alien thought this is to many people, despite being so obvious. If something is making you sick, get it out of your environment. If the whole environment is toxic, then you must get out. In Pisces, your 4th house, Chiron points to physical contaminants; Nessus points to emotional ones. These might be a presence in some form now, or one you’re still cleansing from previous experiences. The presence of Neptune, however, complicates matters, by adding the factor of denial. Neptune can act like a substance to which one is both allergic and addicted. It can also anaesthetize one to other problems in the environment. Under one scenario, it’s possible to respond to the signals and the demand for vigilant awareness of Chiron and Nessus by denying them or pretending they’re not there. You will need to navigate these seemingly dissonant influences within you now. Chiron and Nessus serve profoundly important purposes, which involve healing your past and grounding you in the present. Yet if you succumb to Neptune, you will not get the benefits of these influences. Of course, Neptune in the 4th can make a difficult situation tolerable. Though where Neptune is concerned, you want to set boundaries, in particular, time limits. It’s easy for a month, a year, or a decade to get away from you, if you’re not paying attention to time, and working with a concept of your limits. It’s through these types of diversions that we see so many potentially powerful, undeniably creative people waste their lives on chaos, pain, and struggle. You have the power to overcome this, to the extent that it’s influencing you. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — For five years, Uranus has been in Aries. Uranus is the most restless and revolutionary planet. It’s the ultimate archetype of disruption. And to the extent that you’ve tried to cling to any notion of yourself from the past, the result has been stressful. In fact if you’ve experienced any meltdowns related to “who you are” and “your family,” you now have a working metaphor to understand them. By far the pressure to change is more potent than anything that might incline you to stay in your shell. The added impact of Pluto through your sign (combined with the series of Uranus-Pluto squares from 2011 through 2014) is making it inevitable that you break free from previous definitions of yourself — from your family or from whatever source — yet you are somewhat stubborn and you do tend to cling to the past. This is, by the way, a tendency affirmed by the inherent past-orientation of Capricorn, and having Aries in a house inherently associated with the past and seeking security there. There is no point clinging. There is no point resisting who you are becoming. It’s long past time to cut the apron strings — no matter whom they are attached to. The ongoing conjunction of Uranus and Eris in your 4th house has raised this to anything from a constant drive to a fevered pitch to moments when you’re utterly frantic to bust into who you are and be who you are. The thing is, your future self is not as easy to perceive as your past self. Every transit I’ve described above adds up to you developing in ways that you simply cannot predict, and which therefore amount to a daunting unknown. In order to face who you are becoming, you must face that unknown. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Often you make the whole experience of your sexuality mental rather than emotional and physical. There are a number of ways this is illustrated in your chart. Try this on: the two houses in your chart that have the most influence over your sexuality are ruled by Mercury. Mercury is the planet of ideas, of talking, of gadgets and, best of all, “the mind of the senses, the consciousness of creatures.” Whatever else we might say about you, you need sex to be a mental phenomenon. That’s good, because everything that happens anywhere happens in your brain. This goes for everyone; however, with house 5 covered by Gemini and house 8 covered by Virgo, your sexuality needs a correspondingly mental and psychological component. You are a perfect fit for erotic writing, sex by Skype, sex by email and, heck, sex by Twitter. You probably discovered phone sex shortly after the invention of the telephone (Mr. Watson! Come quickly!). So, lace your sexuality with hot conversation. Tell it like it is. Fulfill your desire to hear all the details from anyone who will reveal them. Virgo on the 8th is all about the details. It’s also prone to a bit of being hyper-picky and to overemphasizing hygiene. Which leads to Pisces. An important root of sexuality is held in the 2nd house, which covers masturbation. My erotic theory begins with the idea that all sex is based in one’s sexual relationship with oneself. Here, you have the potential for a rich fantasy life, which is good for self-sex. The clit is not really the clit; it’s the brain. With Neptune in this house now, there’s really no limit to what you can imagine. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius and Pisces Birthdays: Eclipse Companions

“When there’s an eclipse on the horizon, every event or development becomes a step on the way into its vortex.”

— Eric Francis Coppolino on Feb. 13

Dear Friend and Reader:

We just experienced a lunar eclipse in the relationship house for Aquarius; in less than two weeks, we’ll get a solar eclipse in Pisces. We’re in The Eclipse Zone.

Aquarius

If you have your Sun, ascendant or even Moon in one of these two signs, how are you stepping into the vortex? Or to put it another way: where are you putting your attention and focus, and what are you noticing as you make those choices?

In every audio birthday reading, Eric draws a clear connection between your present moment and environment, and long-term patterns that stretch into the past and into the future — and which influence your options. So much potential is available to you every minute of every day. Yet with so much distraction and cultural chaos, it’s essential to have someone help you clarify what matters most — and what you can do about it.

If you’re a Pisces (or would like to give a gift to one), you can pre-order the 2017 Pisces Birthday Reading for the discounted pre-order price of $19.97.

This reading will include two audio segments of astrology (at least 30 minutes each), plus a tarot reading (either audio or video) and extended written description of your sign. You may download the audio portions and listen as many times as you like as the year progresses.

“I ordered my Sun sign and my Moon/ascendant (same sign). I was blown away by how accurate and useful the information was. I’m on my third reading and it’s turning out to be one of my most accurate astrology readings to date. If you’re on the fence about buying a reading, trust me, it’s high-quality information and outweighs three lattes, two beers, and a month of Netflix.”

— Stefani Quane

Planet Waves

If you’re an Aquarius, good news: Your two audio astrology portions are available for instant access. (The tarot segment will publish a little later, and we’ll let you know when that’s ready.) You can still order the Aquarius Reading here for a discounted price; the price will increase again when Eric finishes the tarot portion.

As Eric wrote on Monday, “we’re in the pattern-clearing / pattern-setting zone of the cycle. Think of this as a time to clarify and refine your intentions, to which you commit by taking action.”

Are you ready to take some action?

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

P.S. You can listen to samples of the Aquarius Reading here and here — recorded as the lunar eclipse warmed up.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — To celebrate the beauty of this moment calls for total commitment to yourself and to what you are called to do. We live in a time when many commitments are faltering, when the social contract is unraveling, and when the values of society seem to be crumbling. Yet you are in a position to rise to the occasion of your existence. You can answer your calling to live not just with purpose, but also in full accord with your deepest values. That is what it means to be a solid person. Once you’ve experienced that, there’s no turning back because there’s nowhere else to go. One discovery you may be making is just how radical you’ve become. By that I mean the astrology of recent years has fitted you with advanced bullshit filters and a commitment to truth. You are less afraid than ever to express what you genuinely believe. In fact, you may be bolder than ever about expressing who you are. Experience has taught you not only that this is safe, but that it’s the only sane way to proceed through life, especially in times of chaos, strife and deception. Even if you don’t feel like you’ve crossed the whole distance, even if you feel like you have so much more progress to make, if you scan back over the past seven years of your life, you will see the considerable progress that you’ve made, and you’ll get a sense of your trajectory. Some of this progress has been in the outer world, the place where you express your ideas, do your work, and relate to other people. Yet the most precious gift of Chiron’s presence is self-awareness. That includes self-acceptance, and the deep knowledge that your most important relationship is to yourself. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Monday Morning Horoscope for Feb. 13, 2017

Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You’re in an unusual position to see and experience the world from the viewpoint of a close partner. It’s one thing to think you’re doing this; it’s another to actually get into the emotional space to witness what you cannot usually perceive. It takes willingness and some conscious submission. You’ll know you’ve found that spot when the world changes a little, and when you feel the intricate emotional predicament that someone you care about is in. Meanwhile, it helps to listen, to be helpful without being patronizing, and to tread gently on the territory of the relationship. You can also safely assume that you don’t get it, rather than that you do get it. Assuming you understand where someone is coming from, and what they feel, vexes many relationships; but nobody can stop this in your life except for you. In the coming weeks and months you will learn more, if you’re willing to.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You contain many potential expressions of yourself. In a sense, you can be anyone you choose to be. The question is what basis you would have for your choice — and I would say that experimenting is as good a basis as any. Try on being anyone you want to be. Usually this is done with style elements — clothing, hair color and so on. I suggest you experiment with persona and communication style. Mercury in Aquarius is moving across the professional angle of your solar chart. This presents opportunities for leadership, which would happen through you being a kind of group-conscience and communication vector. You are the one who can focus the topic and initiate the conversation. You do indeed have the right idea. But the presentation style you use is important. Make sure you understand your audience before you open your mouth to speak. Underplay how intelligent you are, just a little. Give other people credit for your ideas.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — There are times of the year when you seem to have a wide perspective, as if you’re viewing your life and existence from a mountaintop. Mercury and the Sun are moving through the angle of your chart that relates to your personal vision and your worldview. Slow down and consider your life as a whole. The world may be going insane, though there is such a thing as a future — and many people are waking up to some real priorities. Rather than planning your life, focus its philosophical theme. Get clear with yourself why you’re alive. Then start living for that purpose, and only that purpose, every day. As you do, you will meet people whom you understand, and who understand where you’re coming from. That is the necessary precursor to action. Your language skills suit you to be in a position to take charge of some mission, one that’s truly based on a higher calling. You may be the one among many who hears that calling first.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Last Friday’s eclipse of the Moon took place in the finances and resources sector of your solar chart (called the 2nd house). This is a direct reminder to keep your focus on the money issue, though in truth that relates to something much larger. Many people are self-employed, they aspire to be so, or they must supplement the income from their main gig. Two additional thoughts arise from your 2nd house. One is to use all of your resources. Before that, you need to remind yourself what they are. They include your knowledge, your experience, the tools of your trade and, yes, your money and lines of credit. I reckon you’ve recently had some reminder to be true to your values. You must take the risk of being real, of doing what’s real, and investing in what you know actually matters. Check in with yourself regularly, as in daily, to remain on course.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — What happens in one of the fire signs happens to all of them. And the fire signs are indeed on fire right now, with such amazing events happening in Aries (the Uranus-Eris conjunction, the presence of Venus and Mars) and Sagittarius (Saturn conjunct the Galactic Core and too many minor planets to fit into an article). But what about Leo? Ordinary astrology charts reveal nothing, though that’s not true. A slow-moving mystical point is there, called Sila-Nunam (a binary, co-discovered by my favorite astronomer, Jane X. Luu). I don’t talk about it much, but every time I think of Leo, I think of Sila-Nunam. And what is this thing? Here’s a tidy summary from Wikipedia: “The two components are named after Inuit deities. Sila ‘spirit’ is the Inuit [Eskimo] god of the sky, weather, and life force. Nunam or ‘earth’ is the Earth goddess, in some traditions Sila’s wife. Nunam created the land animals and, in some traditions, the Inuit people (in other traditions Sila created the first people out of wet sand). Sila breathed life into the Inuit.” End of quote. Please tell me if this reminds you of anything about who you are and what you’re doing.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You may be expecting changes in a relationship. That’s because there’s an eclipse of the Sun coming in Pisces, which is your partnership zone. The theme of this eclipse is “see what you’ve been missing.” That insinuates you’ve been living under certain conditions that you cannot identify and may not understand. It’s almost as if, anytime you get a clear view of your life and your relationships, a fog rolls in. Then you see a beacon in the distance, or your psychic GPS starts working again, and you find your way, till the next fog rolls in. What happens over the next few weeks will take you above this cycle, to the level where you have a pulse on what’s actually happening. You will get information about who is in your environment, and how they influence you. You’re likely to get additional data about other environmental factors, anything from sound to light to any toxins that might be present. This is not self-activating information. You must take action; that’s why you’re being shown these things.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — In The Book of Your Life, the 2017 annual reading, I called the Libra chapter “The True Mirror.” The metaphor involves this thing we call the mirror image, which is a reverse-image from what other people see. (This is based on an actual invention, easy to search out.) Your astrology is presenting you with several options here, where your reflection is concerned. In a sense, everyone and everything is your reflection — especially if you take a philosophical view and treat it as such. Whomever and whatever you encounter reveals something about you, to yourself. This is not typical astrology — it’s actually quite unusual, owing to the forthcoming Venus retrograde (developing story; more soon). The world is offering you a perspective of yourself that can, if you let it, change your life, feed your growth and enhance your relationships. Open your eyes and look honestly at what you see. Listen to what people say. Imagine everyone is you, talking to yourself.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Your chart at the moment is the fusion of art, work and pleasure, meaning sex and other forms of adventure. For most people this doesn’t happen all by itself; work is the last place someone is likely to associate with creativity and passion. There are a couple approaches you can take; both are holistic. First, you can start living as if everything you do is about passion and productivity. Even if you work as a file clerk in an insurance office, you can still do this. You can bring color and personality and curiosity to your work — though if you do, you might find yourself working somewhere else soon. That’s the whole point. Raise and fully inhabit your energy and you’ll find somewhere you belong. The second idea is to take a room in your house and clear out everything but the bed, then move in all your art supplies and musical instruments, and a bottle of wine (or, you know, whatever) and go to town. Do that artist thing and soak yourself in your creative process, every minute that you can. This is what your chart looks like.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — The thing to remember about this time in your life is that you have options. You are never boxed into your reality. Of course, Saturn in your sign may convey the feeling that you’re being held down in some way, though it’s not true. Saturn’s role is to help you give shape and form to your ideals. Meanwhile, Sagittarius’ ruling planet Jupiter is in Libra. These two placements form what’s called a mutual reception: Saturn is in a sign that Jupiter fancies, and Jupiter is in a sign that Saturn fancies. This is a rare and beneficial condition, which is the main reminder that you’re never trapped. You can always find a way to make things work; there’s always Plan B, which may be better than Plan A. So live as if your options are open, and don’t be afraid to commit when the time and place are right. You can still honor your commitments and have the flexibility that you require as a basic mode of existence. Whenever you need another way, say out loud: there is a better way.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Your solar chart suggests you may be feeling edgy, like you’re under some pressure you cannot see or identify, but which is following you around. The reason it’s following you is because it’s coming from inside you rather than some external source. One way to describe it is the sensation that you might lose control at any moment. At the same time, other influences are conspiring to make sure you loosen up your reality and stop keeping such an absurdly tight grip on yourself, particularly your feelings. You’re under cosmic influences that are teaching you to embrace passion rather than avoid it. If you’re playing the approach-avoid game with anything or anyone, ask yourself what you’re feeling guilty about. You’re not being held to the standard of perfection, though that’s different from fidelity to yourself and to your cause. Be faithful and sincere. A little focused intention and effort goes a long way these days.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Take advantage of the Sun’s last few days in your birth sign. You’re likely to make a valuable connection today that will help you make up for lost time. Make sure you do something very un-21st-century and treat the people you meet with respect, particularly older folks. If you’re too lost in your own head, you could easily overlook the presence of someone who knows quite a bit and would be willing to help you, if only you were to pause and have a real conversation. You cannot just trust to luck, pluck and derring-do. You need to develop human connections and cultivate a relationship where you are the learner and someone else is the teacher. Mercury is currently in your sign, and this is cautioning you to know when you don’t know. The first thing to do, therefore, is stop assuming you know; and instead, open your mind to facts and opinions that you need.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — In a few days, the Sun returns to your sign. Until then, the Aquarius Sun is shining its light on many previously concealed details of your life that you may have overlooked during the past few seasons. You’re getting to see much that you were missing. Persist in that spirit: open up closets, look behind the books on your shelves, go up into the attic and down into the basement and poke around. Be eager to discover all that is unknown and discoverable: then you’ll be able to clear out some space and make room for your new goals and new ideas. This will, if you keep yourself focused, be a year of high achievement and progress toward your professional aspirations. Make sure you have them. Make sure you know what you want to be doing, and where you want to be. But along the way you need to keep your mind clear, which means uncluttering accumulated karma, filling trash bins and letting fresh air and sunlight into dark and musty places.

Planet Waves Horoscope for Feb. 9, 2017 #1138 | By Eric Francis Coppolino

Note: the following horoscopes are excerpts from the 2017 annual readings for each sign, The Book of Your Life. If you have not yet purchased one or more of these chapter-length, year-ahead readings for yourself, you may order all 12 signs here, or choose individual signs here.

Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The parity and potential disparity between what is happening in the veiled world of your 12th house (Pisces) and the expressed world of your 1st house (Aries) require special attention and understanding. This is truly a call to integrity in the form of conscious integration of facets of the psyche that often go unacknowledged. What I’m suggesting here is that it’s essential to bring the material of your inner process forward into your daily life, which would include being a more transparent person. And it’s essential that you bring the material of your outer life into your inner sanctum for careful review. This combination of factors, and others I have not mentioned, is likely to have an effect (among many) of focusing your sexuality. You will be perceived, and experience yourself, as more sexual, more appealing, and more desirous. Under these conditions, you must summon a measure of fidelity and intentionality around your sexual expression. This does not mean monogamous, though it certainly does not exclude that potential. Rather, it would be more complete to suggest that you stay in contact with the meaning of every sexual encounter you have, and allow its meaning to reach into the depths of your being. Your ultimate fidelity is to yourself, and it’s only when you feel and live that inner harmony that you can express it to others sincerely and meaningfully. It is rare indeed that people treat their sexuality as an aspect of their spiritual path, much less its core element. That approach would suit you. Eroticism moves energy; it’s inherently creative and a necessary part of life. Yours will be increasing exponentially. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You may yet decide that this phase of your life, the Uranus-Eris era from 2010 through 2018, was the time when you really got to know yourself. It may not have felt like it at the time; you certainly have had your bouts with inner chaos and confusion. Yet you have deep motivation to sort yourself out. Now, enter Venus retrograde. Venus is the planet associated with Taurus. (If you know nothing else about your natal chart, definitely find out the details on your Venus placement: house, sign and aspects). Venus will be passing back and forth between Aries and Pisces. Then Venus will ingress Taurus on June 6, and will enter Gemini on July 4. So, including this most essential passage through your own sign, during which you will do much of the integration work, I am counting the Venus retrograde phase as extending from now through July 4. Let’s look at this closely: Pisces is your 11th house. This is where you relate to the public, whether it’s your circle of friends, the people who follow you on social media, or your readers, viewers or listeners if you’re in the media. The 11th describes how you relate to the wider world, and how you feel when you are visible to others. Venus will then transit into your 12th house, where you have a relationship with yourself that only you know about. There, you seem to make a discovery of some kind, which is related to the recent and ongoing fireworks in Aries (Uranus, Eris and other points). You may have the experience of soul retrieval, or making contact with a much earlier version of yourself — someone you will be happy to make contact with, or at least feel grateful because of the healing possibility involved. Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — If you are in business, this may be a genius phase of development for you. You might also notice that you’re feeling somewhat scattered and agitated. This is where grounding comes in, and this looks like you’ll benefit from grounding in purpose. By that I mean invest your energy in staying on task. If you need help doing that, get help. However, purpose is about knowing why you’re doing something, and then doing it. This can take discipline, and cultivating that as a core-level skill will help you. Gemini needs to come to a consensus with itself. You really can feel like you have a committee inside your mind. Consensus is not about settling an argument. It’s best built from the ground up, first by agreeing on core principles. Therefore, that’s the place to start. Understand what is motivating you. Then translate that into priorities, which in turn you can translate into goals. Once you’ve done this work, it will be clear what to do in any situation. Prioritizing is essential, which means knowing what comes first. This takes commitment. For that, refer back to your core values. Now, the Mercury station-direct phase in late April and early May will have the influence of seeming either to awaken you or change your mind. When you encounter a discovery that relates to who you are, that’s the time to pause and re-evaluate your priorities. The essence of mental discipline is the constant focus on your values and your priorities. Know why you’re doing what you do at all times. Check back and make sure something is actually meaningful in the context of what you have determined that you want. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Mars retrograde was particularly poignant for you, as Scorpio is your 5th solar (or whole-sign) house, relating to your ongoing sexual experiment in life, and Sagittarius is your 6th house, relating to your healing process and your most practical version of spirituality. My take on the 2016 Mars retrograde is that it represented an initiation that will take some years to integrate, and that we count it as more of a natal chart feature than as something fleeting. The lessons revealed and the integration called for are ongoing and they are relevant to your growth at this time. The message in your solar chart, with Mars in your sign at the time of the 2017 summer solstice, is to embody the results of what you’ve learned. ‘Embody’ is a strange concept here in the age of disembodiment, though it’s a necessary idea. I’m talking about getting the material out of the abstract and/or intellectual realm, and into the realm of physical activity and lived reality. To do this, you must make decisions and stick with them long enough to test the result. It’s fortunate that Mars in Cancer is about passion; or, better, living passionately. Yes, it indicates strong feelings, yet what it’s inviting you to do is to live with full commitment. Living in peace with your desire is one commitment to make to yourself. As you do this, it will have an influence on your relationships. This is to say, as you raise your energy and commit to being real with what you want, others will take notice. Ultimately the result will be living in your body rather than in your head. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — For many people, it’s special simply to have something they care about, some purpose that drives them, even if they don’t make it their daily occupation. I think the spiritual seat of one’s true work is in the 5th house of creativity. This continues into the 6th house of day-to-day work and service. But the motive for why one would bother getting up every day has to be some creative impulse, which for you is blended impeccably with your spiritual connection. In essence, the secret to doing what you love involves working the connection between your 5th house Sagittarius (where spirituality and art merge into one thing) and your 6th house Capricorn (where you do what you do for its own sake, and to succeed at it for its own sake). The two signs you have on these houses are a perfect fit for meaningful independent employment. Yet the root of this energy, for you, comes from Sagittarius. Creativity is so crucial to Leo because of that spiritual connection. If you’re looking for Goddess or God, look no further than art, however you define art. It’s vital that you define this idea for yourself, and that you dive into some new expressions of the creative divine in your life. What is special about this year is that Saturn makes a long conjunction to one of the most sensitive points in Sagittarius, the Galactic Core at 27 degrees. This one event will cast its light on all the world, and be available to everyone; where it shows up for you is your devotion to your creative process. Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Each breakthrough in self-relating is likely to help you feel a little younger. The way we see this is the ongoing transit of Pluto through your 5th house. The 5th is the house of pleasure and adventures in play. It should be the most active house in the life of a kid. In the case of Virgo, with Capricorn here, there’s that element of being forced to take on adult responsibilities or cares before you had a chance to fully imbibe and experience childhood. Pluto continues to open up your 5th house; which is to say, its movement represents experiences that are urging you to live with passion. Remember, this is about experience, not theory; and experience begins with an experiment. You might say that this is an experiment in coming out of your shell. For your objectives, anything that leads you to explore life merely for the purpose of fun is something that will serve you well. If you’re really feeling Pluto, that quest will become a bit obsessive, potentially subverting your usual sense of purpose, which is about living well and living seriously. Passion is about healing. Erotic sharing is about healing. Art is about healing. Humor and diversion are about healing. All of this will contribute to your integrity by allowing you to integrate rather than isolate those states of being. You could say that apart from all the psychological concepts attached to self-esteem, the experience you’re looking for is feeling good about who you are. This is a feeling, not a concept. Rather than strive for the feeling, the thing to do is give yourself the experiences that you want; the experiences that will enrich you and help you develop into your personhood. Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — When determining the nature of your character and the necessities of your healing, it would be wise to look for patterns. It’s true that one event may complete the pattern and provide the clue that you need, but it has to be about the pattern — and that’s calling on you to be especially attentive. Venus retrograde begins in Aries and moves back into Pisces. That’s your 6th solar house, or if you’re Libra rising, your 6th whole-sign house. The 6th is the realm of healing, of service and of the good work that you do. Having Pisces on this house makes you sensitive; you are as close to a born artist as it gets. Your creative gift is associated with a spiritual gift, which in turn is about a healing gift. If you’ve ever felt the calling to provide healing through your work, or through your creative flow, I would say that’s worth responding to. And Venus retrograding into Pisces will take you there. This first must be read as a “heal thyself” aspect. It’s taking you deeper than the appearances of your relationships, deeper than self-concept, and deeper than the mirror in any form. Rather, Venus in Pisces is an occasion to feel yourself as a unified being, beyond the projections and the seeming needs of relationship. This can be a moment of genuine relief from the hall of mirrors, true or otherwise. Aries tends to polarize. Pisces is like soaking your body in the ocean and feeling one with it. The single most distinctive and life-changing aspect of Venus retrograde is that it ends in an exact conjunction with Chiron. The precise date is March 4, but leave a margin of about five days on either side for the full threshold. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Perhaps the primary transit is that Saturn is going to spend most of the year conjunct the Galactic Core. This is saying that while spirituality is natural and organic, for it to have meaning in the world takes time and discipline. Where Saturn shows up in one’s chart, there is a focus on business. By business I mean what you do with your precious time, creativity and energy. I also mean the business that you’re in. You know you’re doing the work of Saturn when you love going to work. Do you? Do you have a total investment in what you do, because you relate to its meaning? Sagittarius, which represents your values, demands that you live in a meaningful and relevant way. If you are bored at work, if you are concerned that you’re devoting your energy to something you don’t agree with, if you’re in a position where you must deceive others to make a living — and you’re aware of these things — then it’s time to raise the level of your existence to where you feel that you’re ethically aligned with your own choices and actions. I would propose that being aligned in this way is a foundation of true self-esteem. This is about your life having actual meaning. It’s easy for you to have theoretical meaning; Sagittarius is great at that. But actual meaning? That comes from sustained action and investment in yourself. Saturn and Sagittarius are a tense mix, though Saturn will push these issues until it gets your attention. Saturn is a constant reminder that you must work for what you want to be. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — The 5th is the house of art, playful sex, and games of chance. It’s also the house of children and the kinds of fun that children like to have. You have Aries in this solar house (or whole-sign house), which in part describes why you’re so adventurous; yet Aries can have the feeling of being all about you, and you don’t necessarily need playmates to have a good time. Contrast this with the emotional complexities of the 4th house. With Venus retrograde across Pisces and Aries, you’re allowing a vent from the emotional pressures and healing work of your 4th to enter the expressive realm of the 5th. To me this looks like art therapy, sex therapy or play therapy. If you’re carrying any burdens, stress or tension from the Pisces zone, populated as it is by centaur planets that are making you focus on your healing process, Venus is saying: express yourself. At a certain point healing must become celebrating life, if it’s to be meaningful — or if it’s to have a purpose. What you’re likely to find is that creative self-expression puts you in contact with who you are. There’s plenty going on in Aries right now — it’s the seat of the hottest, boldest and most chaotic astrology in more than 50 years. But Uranus and Eris (which are in Aries) can be alienating and difficult to grasp. Venus makes Aries personal for you. Contact of Venus with Pisces makes it even more personal, and more emotional. Imagine that this course of events is creating an energy conduit from your emotional house of security (Pisces 4th) to that of sex, creativity and play (Aries 5th). If you use this, it will let off pressure. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Pluto has already compelled you to make many changes to the structure of your life, whether this has involved your previously most stable relationships, your home, your profession or, most of all, what you thought was the trajectory of your existence. When we move your charts up to 2017, a few things become apparent. One is that this process is still in full force, and that you’ll encounter some peak experiences of growth and self-discovery. By peak I really mean personal breakthroughs on a level you’ve never experienced. This is indicated by a subtle factor: in the conjunction of Pluto and asteroid Icarus in the most recent Capricorn solstice chart. Pluto gives the depth and the power of change; Icarus describes the craving to do this in big ways. That’s the thing about Icarus: it makes one want that experience of peaking, and its expression is often dramatic. Here’s the thing: Capricorn is like the surface. It’s more about your personality than what you really are. As a personality factor, it would be impressive (and often still is), were Pluto not in your sign revealing something deeper. The real changes from Pluto happen when you open up and something else is revealed. One thing to remember is that your integrity is not linked to your being unchanging. In fact, your integrity is about your ability to change in helpful ways, and not to resist what you need the most. As well, you must be honest with yourself and with others about your uncertainty. It’s all too tempting, in times of profound change, to attempt to cling to some form of fundamentalism or false security. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Belief is not only less threatening than reality, it seems more solid, and this has led to our world of people living in bubbles, believing anything they click on — as long as it appeals to them. Now Saturn is about to encounter the Galactic Core. You might say that all of this worldly jetsam and flotsam will be neatly cooked off by this long contact with the Galactic Core. This is religion meeting the religious experience. It is the holy roller actually encountering the Holy Spirit. It’s the philosopher having an experience of unspeakable truth. Whether this manifests for you in a dramatic way is an open question; that it will manifest in some way is a given. This represents a personal change for you; it represents a change in society to some degree (we shall see to some extent); and because this is in a public house in your chart, it represents a reorientation on your relationship to your community. More than anything, though, this event describes a transformation for you personally, and the context in which you relate to the world. Both are changing at the same time. The upshot of this transit is that you know that it’s up to you above all else to have faith in humanity. This is not about idealism or some form of light spirituality. It’s about the actual work of evolutionary growth. It will not be all sweetness and starlight; to do the right thing, and to accomplish what you need to accomplish, you may encounter some of the more shadowy sides of human nature. You will be able to withstand this if you maintain your integrity at all times, and come back to it as soon as you notice you’ve digressed. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — If we take Chiron in your sign as a delegate of Sagittarius (in the context of the quest), there really is no mission, career or vocation: there is you, becoming who you are. I feel like I keep saying this, though this notion keeps coming up in your astrology. You’re not really changing; rather, your inner essence is emerging in a way that is both unstoppable and undeniable. And this you can express as mission. Don’t be deterred. If something seems to be difficult, or taking too long, persist. If funding is an issue, look for innovative ways to get the money flowing. Look for and address waste. And be bold about seeking support. You are perceived as someone in leadership, and you have significant respect from people of influence and high ethical standards. If you need something, ask for it, and don’t spend any time justifying your goals — just state what they are. The relationships between many signs and planets in your chart — including your own sign, plus Libra and Sagittarius, and Venus, Jupiter and Saturn — are the very image of dharma: acting as if to hold the world together. Speaking of holding the world together: for the allegedly laid-back, guitar-strumming, wine-sipping, peace-and-love, noncommittal stoner image that many people have of Pisces, you sure do care about this. You take a formal view of people and society; it’s fair to say that you have inherent respect for the world. This is demonstrated by Capricorn on your 11th house. The 11th house is about groups, and it’s also about your highest ideals. It’s about your standing in the community. And it’s about the revenue you receive from answering your professional calling. Monday Morning Horoscope for Feb. 6, 2017

Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Your confidence should be running at an all-time high right now, but is it? If you’re feeling shaky, or like too much is being expected of you, draw your attention inward. Pay attention to your inner life. Yes, this is a social time of year for you, and you may be getting more attention than usual. You might go in the opposite direction: stay in rather than go out; invest time reading and thinking rather than in any concerns about your appearance; and relate directly to the one person who appreciates and respects you the most. When you attend to your true spiritual and emotional needs for a little while, you’ll feel a new kind of confidence that is based on self-worth. You might start with food. Eating well, and at home, is a resounding message of self-love.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Earth-mother Ceres has entered your birth sign. In Roman mythology, she’s the one who makes the fields of grain grow. She’s the champion of those who lack power and status. And she’s the goddess of awareness: in your case, self-awareness. You may feel like a different person than you usually are this week, and you’re likely to get different results. Who is that person? The idea ‘grounded’ comes to mind. That means your feet are on the ground. The idea ‘loyal’ comes to mind, and that means loyal to yourself. Finally, the idea of nourishing comes to mind. Most people live as if the world and all the people around them are here to meet their needs. Try on the notion that your primary role is to nourish and feed the people around you. Experiment with that in as many forms as you can for a week or two — then evaluate how you feel.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — If you run up against some limit in an intimate relationship, the thing to investigate is the nature of the commitment. What did you promise? What did your partner promise to you? If you draw a blank on the exact nature of what you consciously offered yourself, it’s time for a review. This is part of a much wider and deeper examination of your human involvements. Saturn in your opposite sign is a cue that you need a review of every important relationship in your life, and the purposes that you assign to those relationships. You can take nothing for granted — something you’ve known for a while. All through this year, you’re likely to have the feeling that you must be fully accountable for everything that happens in your relationships. Reality is catching up with you. Always remember: it’s not about them — it’s about you.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Continue taking leadership. Mostly this means leadership of your life, though there’s likely to be an organization or professional commitment involved. Both Venus and Mars have crossed over the aspirational midheaven angle of your chart. This translates to working two kinds of influence at the same time: one involves asserting your authority; another involves charming your way to what you want others to do. You will need to use a combination of both methods. You might start with gentle persuasion and then increase your energy as necessary. You can use cooperation as a selling point. Rather than focusing on yourself, remind people that we’re all in this together, ultimately responsible for the process and the final result. That’s a fact, and so too is that at the end of the day, you’re the one holding the bag.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You seem to have a clearer view of the horizon now that you’ve extracted your goals from a foggy situation. You seem to have discovered that your life is easier if you don’t confuse your needs, desires and intentions with those of totally unrelated commitments. This is especially true of your finances, though. Do you have your own bank account, and if so, who else has access to it? Who has access to your time? Who has access to your space? The planets are suggesting that you get a moment of independence, a taste of what it’s like to be free from those involvements. What do you want, when nobody else is influencing you, or when you don’t feel like you owe anything to anyone? Here’s one more layer of that: what do you know you’re capable of, when you don’t have to justify your existence to anyone? The chances are, that’s exactly, precisely what you have the ability to do.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You tend to invest your identity in relationships, and expect to find it there. This is just one of those things that’s inherent in the nature of Virgo a little more than it’s true for others. There are two parts to this equation: the investing, and the finding. Is that working out for you? Are you finding yourself, or losing yourself? Your solar chart is suggesting that it’s time to place emphasis on your healing process, regardless of your relationship status. First and foremost, that means paying attention to yourself and to your needs, as apart from anything anyone expects of you. You have work to do that does not even vaguely involve partnerships or relationships: it’s yours and yours alone. When you acknowledge this, how do you feel? When you set out to do that work, how do you feel? You might also notice how others treat you, right then.

Planet Waves
Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Do you feel like you’re pursuing someone you can’t quite catch up with? If so, is this about the sport of the game, or do you really think you’re going to get their attention or some larger result? The direction of your astrology seems to be about relationships; there’s so much going on in your opposite sign Aries. Yet the deeper truth of the matter is that you have an opportunity to conduct a review of your life. This is not about anyone else, or how they may feel about you. To some extent it relates to how you feel about other people, because that actually tells you something about your values. Ultimately this is about whether you feel at home in your own life, and in your emotions, shorn of all appearances. To the extent that relationships are a distraction, you will need to let them go, if you want to take that opportunity. That does not preclude genuine friendship and authentic lovers who know that you must come first in your life.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — The world seems more obsessed with glamour and appearances than it has ever been. You may have figured out how detrimental this is to you, particularly in the form of how spiritually empty it can leave you feeling. You can offer your attention to who and what is more solid and authentic, though only if you see that as a desirable option. Whatever that is won’t look so sparkly, nor is it likely to focus the attention of others on you. But it’s likely to do something else, something better, and something that doesn’t happen as often as you need: feed you. You’re the only person who can make this choice, and you’re likely to be the only person encouraging yourself to do so. While others are busy competing over nothing, you have the option to experience some genuine peace of mind, and feel something solid and authentic in your hands.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — The reason you need to set boundaries and limits is so that you can see the greater possibilities. This could take many forms: limiting your commitments, organizing your time so that you have some mental space to think, and only dealing with people who take you seriously (to name a few). And you must increase your level of both respect and self-respect sufficiently to notice a difference in how you feel. It would be too easy to squander beautiful, meaningful opportunities for smaller and more limited ones. You would only do that if you don’t see or at least feel the potential that you have. But potential is just that; it’s meaningless unless it’s combined with discipline, commitment and absolute sincerity. Your life is now under the influence of Saturn, who is the taskmaster. That means you must become the master of your own affairs, and moreover, your emotions. To the extent you can do those things, you will be able to succeed on your own terms.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Mercury, the planet of mind and of ideas, is now making its way across the last degrees of your sign. Recently (on Jan. 29), it was conjunct Pluto in your sign, which represented some revelation, discovery or change of opinion, or perhaps all three. Remember what you discovered. It’s not just information that you need; you’re fully responsible for what you know. This is true in any event, though particularly if what you learned involves your finances, investments or business dealings. If you use what you know, on the other hand, you will be at a considerable advantage. I only bring this up because it looks like you might forget, or fail to see the implications of what you know. Remember, and make the connections. This influences many people besides yourself; that’s the heart of the matter.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Over the next few days, the Sun in your sign will make a series of productive and useful aspects to important planets, among them Saturn, Jupiter and the Uranus-Eris conjunction. That means you get to raise your profile and, in a sense, play in a league much higher than you’re usually accustomed to. If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, conduct yourself appropriately: dress properly for every occasion. Treat authority figures with respect, without kissing ass. And most of all, make sure you know what you’re talking about before you open your mouth to speak. That means being wholly conscious of the limits of your knowledge (which is not exactly the specialty of those born under your birth sign). Also, you’ll soon become privy to inside information, which you must treat with the utmost confidence.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Both Venus and Mars have moved into the personal finances sector of your chart, which is placing an emphasis on money and resources. I am fond of quoting Lois Rodden, one of the truly great astrologers of the 20th century, who once told me: most astrologers believe that Mercury is the money planet, but they have it wrong. The money planet is Mars, because acquiring the stuff takes motivation. That is what you need, and that is what you have. You can devote yourself to the process of building your wealth. Yet this is conditioned on one prerequisite: that you do so in a way that’s true to yourself, your values and your spiritual principles (which are essentially all the same thing). Tracking these issues will inform you why you are doing what you do, which in turn will tell you whether it’s the right thing. Money causes problems when it leads to deceit or self-deception, or becomes an end in itself.

Planet Waves Weekly Horoscope for Feb. 2, 2017 #1137 | By Len Wallick
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Over 30 years ago, a young musician spoke of his reasons for giving so much for so little in material return. It was, he said, for his friends. He made music that was authentic for his community of choice at a time when commercial markets offered nothing of the sort. The years passed. The world caught up with that musician, rewarding him with fame and wealth. But his old friends still remember the unconventional cause that led to his conventional success. Chances are you are now in much the same position that young man was when his artistry provided little more than relief from being excluded. You have a gift. It’s likely that only those you now identify with can appreciate what you have to offer; but if you devote yourself unselfishly to friends in need now, it’s very possible that you will have no cause for want in a future that your example helped to create. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

The Book of Your Life, many months in the making, will be published tonight (Thursday night). This includes extended readings for all 12 Sun signs and rising signs. You can get access to all 12 signs here, or you can get your individual sign here.
Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — The time has come for you to see how your most cherished aspirations can be so much more than simply achievement objectives. Just note how the extent to which you have realized your calling thus far has also been the degree to which you have found (and truly come to know) yourself. For you, the key to a life worth living can never be lost so long as you keep sight of what it is you feel you must do with the time you have. Even so, there is another level of consciousness which will serve to benefit not only your personal evolution, but also that of uncounted others in the world. To reach that next level, you must first soften any tendency you have to be self-critical. Then, acknowledge how even partially attaining your vision for yourself will also serve to bring a form of sight to many who have previously been blind to their own purpose. — By Len Wallick. Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Some believe no good deed goes unrewarded. Others assert no good deed goes unpunished. It would appear you are now entering a period when the universe will be more likely to support faith than cynicism. If you are in doubt about this, experiment with being good to yourself. Provided the cosmic indications being represented here are anywhere near correct, good choices consistently made will show undeniably positive results in two months or less. For a variety of reasons, it would probably be both easier and more convincing if you were to focus on what you choose to take into both your body and mind. A wholesale change in lifestyle will not be necessary. If you can simply refrain from consuming just two things you know to be unhealthy, and replace them with a few demonstrably healthy alternatives, the results will be impressive. — By Len Wallick. Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You have more leadership potential than you give yourself credit for. It’s all a matter of what you think leadership consists of. For you, at least, actions will always be more effective than words. That’s especially true now. Keep your ears open for voices of discontent among your associates. Make a point of offering only solutions when others offer complaints. When you hear judgments, encourage understanding. Whenever you are invited into an argument, show restraint with everybody. Wherever you go, seek only to make your vicinity a better place. After a while, people will finally begin to notice how your presence makes a difference, and will miss you more than ever before when you are absent. Eventually, when you hear the words “we” and “our” being used more often in your company, you will know that you have succeeded. — By Len Wallick. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Don’t take even the smallest fortunate events for granted. More often than not, good luck is no accident. In all probability, at least one person is doing what they can to steer some good cheer in your direction. For the moment, all you really need to do in response is get better at cultivating gratitude. For all but a fortunate (and perhaps even fictional) few, life is rarely easy. It’s all most people can do to keep up with what they have taken on. Only rarely does anybody end a day with enough left over to project either good or ill will outside of their circle of influence. Yet, if anybody is currently getting the best of what somebody else has to spare, it’s almost certainly you. Someday, it will be your chance to offer the same. When that time comes, the quantity of difference you make for someone else will be in proportion to the quality of your gratitude now. — By Len Wallick. Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You can finally start making some plans again with at least some assurance that something will come of them. Please keep in mind, however, that making plans has a lot in common with making wishes. In both cases, it is vitally important that you prepare yourself to get what you have asked for. Therefore, move forward by all and any means with the thinking, organizing, scheduling and flawless follow-through you are so good at. At the same time, be present to anything you are not so good at, and be alert for when any setbacks or delays experienced in the past might seem ready to repeat. This will help you to prevent them from happening again. Perhaps most urgently, have a plan to overcome any temptation to think yourself unworthy when you reach the threshold of all you have worked for — and have justly earned. — By Len Wallick. Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Looks to be high time for you to begin planning a voyage of self-discovery. It’s possible that the journey best for you would be an inner one. In all probability, however, the most appropriate form of exploration for you now will take you away from familiar physical environs and somewhere out into the world where you have never been before. In either case, the undertaking should be neither small nor casual. Think big, and you won’t regret it. Dare to make a commitment to a serious and substantial enterprise, and you won’t be sorry. Sometime during the last four months, it is almost certain that you have either come up with an idea on your own or received a clue regarding where you need to go. Now, even if you have to ask for help from others to get you there, it’s time to somehow get underway. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Either literally or figuratively, you are almost home. Yours is almost certainly not an example of returning to something you left behind sometime in the past. Instead, it should be quite apparent that you are finally settling into either a physical space or a metaphorical place all your own for the long term. The benefits of having finally staked out some real or symbolic ground should be abundantly apparent to you. For example, don’t be shy about taking comfort in having somehow arrived. What may not be so obvious are two other consequences that will come with the full realization of your arrival. First, it will be appropriate to release attachment to some fantasies in proportion to the amount of certainty you have. Additionally, you will want to accept (or even enjoy) the maintenance responsibilities that will come in proportion with the security you have. — By Len Wallick. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Being forced to make some big choices can be a stressful thing. It need not be so for you, however — at least not at this point in your life. You are in a fortunate position. It appears that some (if not all) of the choices you now face come down to one thing: setting an example, or following one. The sort of issue being referred to here has to do with lives you have witnessed, and possibly even sampled. Now you get to decide whether to emulate or differentiate. This is not a matter of choosing between bad or good. You are not compelled to select between right and wrong. The issue is what works for you, and what does not. The one choice you should not make is not to choose at all. You are only one person after all. Now it is time to make it known who and what you have decided to be. — By Len Wallick. Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — There should be no doubt you have good reasons for any anger that has come up for you lately. The real question is how and when you should express any just and proper annoyance. Of course it is nearly always self-destructive to hide powerful emotions, and the last thing you want to do is damage yourself. Yet, perhaps now more than ever, it is also crucial that you direct your indignation so that it does maximum good and minimum harm to others. This means getting to the root of what has provoked you. Perhaps you can do it alone. Quite possibly you will need some help. Either way, you need to be absolutely clear about two things. First you must have no illusions regarding the source(s) of your vexations. Then, you must consciously own and accept full responsibility for how you choose to get rage off your chest. — By Len Wallick. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — No matter how old you are, every day is in fact new. You are among the few who can authentically understand how today actually is the first day of the rest of your life. Therefore, it does not really matter whether or not you have attained that understanding before this moment. What matters is that you begin now to see how can get yourself to that point. To start off on the right foot, you must no longer buy into the stories other people tell themselves (and others) about you. To reach your potential by becoming a real and present master of time’s mysteries, you must write (and tell) your own never-ending story. It needs to be a story that defines you without confining you. You must also accept that some people may never grasp what you are saying any more than they can comprehend that neither yesterday nor tomorrow are in any way real. — By Len Wallick. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Being ‘full’ need not mean being at maximum capacity. Attaining fullness can represent transcending limits rather than reaching them. No doubt you have had more than one occasion when you sincerely felt that you had run out of bandwidth. Looking back from this point in your life, however, you are now in a unique position to see those instances in a different light. If there is even one thing you can do now which seemed impossible for you at some time in the past, you have proof of a profound certainty all too easily overlooked. The truth is that you were not born with limits. Instead, you were born with an ingenious proficiency for creating limits. Like all talents, this one can be both a blessing and a curse. You’ve had more than enough of the curse part. Your mission now, should you choose to accept it, is to explore the blessing part as if there is no tomorrow. — By Len Wallick. Monday Morning Horoscope for Jan. 30, 2017

Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Mars, the Aries planet, has moved into your sign for the first time in two years, and it’s time to pluck up your confidence. This is not a matter of faking it till you make it; rather, it’s time to embrace the reality of your own courage. What stands between you and who you are? What stands between you and what you want to do? I suggest you check two places. One is your concept of authority: for example, if you think something will happen to you if you are real. Another involves the relationship between religion and sex. Yes, this one is a little like chasing roaches; however, the evidence would be found in guilt about what you want, or any form of approach/avoid behavior. Have you ever wondered about these things? Do you ever have the sense that someone is watching you, in your most intimate moments? If so, that suggests you need to claim your right to exist. That’s confidence.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Keep your cool, especially in group situations. You must be the spiritual presence; the one who demonstrates devotion to the best of your ability. One of the themes of this year is your individual presence: how you relate to the collectives you’re part of, and how they relate to you. As part of this, you have a chance to look closely at the idea of service. Notice the lines of support between you and the people around you. Notice whether you offer help, and whether it’s offered back to you. Note when it’s missing and see if you can get a sense of how that happens. This is advanced spiritual work, because you’re in an advanced phase of learning. You might think of life this way: you are a gift to the world, and the world is a gift to you. That implies an exchange — and in that exchange you get to express your true creativity.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — If you haven’t figured out how to gain back an advantage in places where you seemed to keep coming out behind, review the events and conversations of the past few days carefully. You’ll figure out where your power went and how to get it back. This applies particularly to situations where sex and money have been turned into instruments of authority of some kind. You might need to do something radical, like move on entirely. You might need to consistently speak your mind, which means from your deepest truth, not leaving anything out. Those two options might be related. Whatever may be the situation, you seem to have learned that in certain matters, there is no room for compromise. Your integrity is more important than making anyone else happy, or playing anyone else’s game on their terms. You can avoid these situations by telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Aim your sights on some achievement that’s meaningful to you. Pick one; the one that you’ve wanted to do the most for the longest, or the new idea that you’re passionate about. Then stick with it. That’s the key: follow through. First, though, notice what you’ve already been persistent about, but which has been simmering on the back burner. Choose something you’re committed to: that your mind and body come back to on a regular basis, but which is calling for completion. Let this beginning be the commencement of resolving something, or bringing it to fruition. This will take some muscle, some time and some love, and there will be significant rewards for you, both personally and professionally. Cancer is usually viewed as a laid-back sign. But you know you can give it your full thrust when you want to — and now is the time.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You must set your own agenda. Right now, you run the risk of letting your choices be made or influenced by the people around you. Stop and ask yourself what you want, and why. Be honest about this. There are likely aspects of life that you’ve set aside for the benefit of others, perhaps as a result of relationship or family responsibilities. That’s not going to work forever. At a certain point you need to establish a pattern of your life in which you are fully included, and that grants you some independence. Remember that many of the patterns holding you down are in your mind. They are part of your own psychological conditioning, and that’s more difficult to change than any relationship structure. That’s because your relationship structures are based on your own thinking. If you’re wondering what’s going on or what to do, that’s the place to start.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — The main thing missing from sex is talking about it. People do it; they avoid it; sex shapes and drives their lives in many ways. The one thing that rarely happens is a genuine conversation. That, I would propose, is the thing you need. Three factors tend to stop people. One is the lack of words, and experience using them. The second is embarrassment. The third is the potential consequences. For example, were you to say what you really want and really feel, you might fear getting a reaction that you don’t want to deal with from someone. I would propose, however, that the thing binding you into your current and somewhat complicated situation is simply your need to speak up, in plain talk, about what you’ve done, what you want, and how you feel. It’s time for Radical Honesty (which, by the way, is a book written by a Virgo author).

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Mars has entered your opposite sign, and it’s time to get a clear policy on how you respond to people who are attracted to you. Guess what? They are! Multiple people. If you take offense at that, or if there is some ‘eww’ factor, you’re clearly not having enough fun. If you feel disempowered people approach you, then you were already disempowered. If someone is being aggressive, you might try standing up to them and setting a boundary. The single boundary you most need is one that you can possess: a clear yes, and a clear no. Getting there takes spiritual work. It takes some soul searching. Stating a clear yes, or a clear no, means being honest with yourself. If this makes you squirm a little, you know you’re on the trail. Keep pursuing that line of thought, and keep squirming. You will reach the point of breakthrough where the truth is what sets you free.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — When you focus your mind, you focus your power. Power means strength; that comes from your ability to concentrate. We live in scatterbrained times. It’s almost as if ADD is a requirement for getting anything done. You must do better: you must focus, and put your ideas into words. The reason this might make someone nervous is that the moment you do this, you enter a new realm of commitment. In other words, saying what you truly believe means committing to that idea. That, in turn, means you can be held to it. You’re likely to have some thoughts that you’re just aching to get out, to express and to make real. If you’re feeling a bit edgy, or anxious, that’s natural enough — though let it embolden you. As Jim Morrison said, the time to hesitate is through.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Mars has come storming into your house of art, play and passion, after many weeks in your house of insecurity. Venus is about to follow suit. You can now stop worrying about what might go wrong, and do your usual thing of taking action and expecting things to go brilliantly. You’re being invited to take chances in art, in romance and in adventure. You may have to lead the way for others who are reluctant; don’t let them stop you (you rarely ever do). You will have plenty of company soon enough. Mars changing signs represents a genuine vibrational shift for you; and if you stay alert and notice this change, you’ll also discover there are many other people already on the level of awareness where you want to be. Feel your own creative passion, and notice who around you is awake and aware.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You’re about to figure out what you’re angry about. It’s funny how something can irritate or grate on you, and you don’t even know what it is. Then when you do, you have the choice to act, or suppress your feelings. There’s not much territory between. In or out are the options. However, it’s not healthy to turn anger or resentment onto yourself. While it’s not exactly peace-loving to turn your anger outward onto loved ones, even if they are the ones who provoked you, turning it inward results in guilt and sickness. You don’t need to rage out at anyone. Going to the gym would be helpful — your present state of mind demands some physical expression. The chances are that something in your present environment is referencing, and triggering, something in the past. Ask yourself what this is about. Listen to yourself. Say what you need to say, and do what you need to do. You can.

Trusting Your Power of Choice

“I suggest you proceed with trust in whatever you’re doing, that you’ve chosen to do. Choice is an essential element here. To the extent that you may feel trapped in the world, the power of decision is your one remaining freedom, and it’s the only one you need. You may notice that many people around you are in the state they’re in, precisely out of a refusal to actually make their own decisions.”
— Eric Francis in the 2016 Aquarius annual reading

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You seem to have passed a psychic kidney stone. By that I mean that your ‘unconscious’ mind, the one that blazes to life when you dream, has been working out a puzzle or a problem. This may have been irritating you in ways that you have not put words to yet. They will come gradually, as you make the connections. What you’re feeling is likely to speak in subtle sensation before you’re able to translate it into words. If you want to get the meaning or the lesson of what you’re processing, tune into those feelings. Yet as with a dream, you need to honor the internal logic of what you’re feeling, which may have nothing to do with your seemingly waking life. And what is more interesting, this whole experience may be about working out the karma of a grandparent or ancestor. In any event, some part of you wants to crack open and let your juices flow out. Bring your full emotions and your voice to the occasion.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — It’s time to take charge of your money. This is, in many ways, a matter of confidence: controlling your cash flow, and focusing your energy on increasing your income. You have what it takes: talent, initiative and discipline. And you have these things in ways that you’ve never had them before. Take advantage of this moment. Your chart is bursting with opportunity, though it’s calling for your leadership and your investment in yourself. You have the strength of mind to stop making excuses and to stop drowning in insecurity and uncertainty. Work with the idea that if you need something, you already have it or you can acquire it easily. Most of all, make yourself useful. Put your creative prowess to actual, tangible, pragmatic use. Look around at the world. There’s plenty that needs to be done, and you have a skill or talent to match any purpose. Choose what suits you the best.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for February 2017 #1136 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The great adventure has begun. The times, they are a-changin’. And who are you really? That’s the journey, and that’s what you are ready to discover. You have so many possibilities, and yet you so often approach life the same way. You’re under some intense pressure to set yourself free. But free of what? An idea about who you are, which seems to dictate how you relate to the world. This looks like a search for gender identity. Your feminine side is calling you; she’s trying to get your attention, though she’s having some challenges expressing herself. It’s as if you’re hearing but not listening. Let yourself be drawn into your inner life, and if you feel resistance, remember that this is one of the most fearsome things a person can do. Many pressures you’re under are designed to draw you outside yourself. Yet your inner awareness, your imagination, your ability to feel who you are rather than tell yourself who you are — all of this is calling you. You’re being invited into your own inner sanctum. Don’t fall for the glam, the commercial or what your social media accounts claim about you. Turn toward the unknown and take your time getting there. In those moments when you feel the least comfortable in your skin, when you feel restless, when you doubt yourself: that’s your invitation, easy to miss. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You are a catalyst in a group initiation of some kind. By this I mean that the evolutionary steps you’re taking are having an influence on the people around you. As you grow into yourself, you’re opening the way for other people to do so as well. As you become more confident, people around you are finding their confidence. As you develop your skills and deepen your commitment level, those who depend on you are becoming stronger in their mission. This truly is “leadership for the new age,” in that your example seems to be what is leading others. Yet it goes much deeper than this. There’s something in the spiritual chemistry of how you mix with others that’s having the deepest effect. It’s not what you’re doing but rather who you’re becoming that is influencing others. Therefore, you can take bigger risks being yourself. Yes, in times past, you may have threatened people by being bold and real, and by expressing your true competence. Now your ability to do so sets an energy pattern that others can follow, including certain members of your family. Now, if your existence gives people permission to be who they are, you’re the one who gives yourself consent to be who you are. Once you get the hang of this, you’ll be wondering what all the fuss and resistance was about. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — New ideas about relationships are calling you, though existing situations in your life need your attention. Humans tend to have a difficult time coming up with a clear yes or a clear no. They also have challenges with a clear hello and goodbye. Taken together, these four values comprise the most important boundaries you can have. They are the gas, brakes and steering of your life. Saturn in your opposite sign Sagittarius is saying that it’s time to put your hands on the controls of your life and master these basic concepts. It’s true that you have the question of what to do with your existing commitments. The real question is: whom and what are you truly invested in? Be clear with yourself about this. There’s no point wasting anyone’s time with the appearance of commitment when your soul is not really there. Nobody really wants to pretend, or wants you to pretend. One clue that may seem materialistic (but is actually more metaphysical) is to notice when and on whom you like spending money. This is a good indicator of love, specifically, noticing where your energy flows easily. Time will give you similar clues. Around whom do you not feel rushed? Who do you always have time for, no matter how busy you are? Alternately, if you feel guilt, you’re getting a message that a situation is bad karma. Trust yourself. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You’re in an excellent position to transform your financial situation: to get some new clients or gigs, and to renegotiate some existing ones. Yet the basis of this is a discovery that you make about yourself, which establishes in your own heart the value of your work. There’s a parallel discovery about offering yourself rather than sacrificing yourself. When you give yourself sincerely, it will feel as if you gain rather than lose something. You will feel the actual experience of how ideas increase when they are given away. Your solar chart also describes a scenario you should be aware of. There’s some situation that’s easy to see and that’s getting your attention. There’s some other object on the radar — whether it’s an idea, an offer or an opportunity to work with someone — that’s subtler and easier to overlook. Therefore, take some time to turn your attention from what you’re focused on, and from what seems the most important, and look around for what seems (at first) to be less significant. Look and listen carefully. This might involve someone considerably younger than you are, whose thoughts would be easy enough to dismiss. Or the value of your own idea might not be obvious at first. In truth, this is likely to be the most interesting thing you have going on, and it will develop nicely. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — This month’s Full Moon in your birth sign (exact Feb. 10) is inviting you to break consensus and do what you want. It would seem that there’s a committee of some kind saying you must live the way you supposedly agreed to, and that if you don’t, bad things will happen. Whether this is implied or being stated outright, I would encourage you to question this notion long enough to walk through an open door and try something new. You don’t have to live your life by consensus. The thing is, Leo is both an individualistic sign, and also one sensitive to the needs of the group or the tribe. Once you understand this about yourself, it will be easier for you to have some balance in your life. However, at first, you may feel like you’re stealing. But you cannot steal yourself. Your life is your life — it’s really that simple, and anyone who tries to convince you otherwise is playing a game that can only happen with your consent. What is the actual nature of your commitments to others? What exactly did you promise them? And what was your promise to yourself, before they even met you? That’s the true promise you must keep. As you do that, as you reaffirm your commitment to yourself, certain partners are likely to rise to the occasion with you. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You’re making some excellent strides establishing your emotional independence. You can use your circumstances to help you. For example, physical space is one of the most helpful tools in the quest to assert who you are. You need space to yourself, and plenty of it. Take the initiative and create that for yourself, whether you have to ask everyone to go out for the afternoon, find a place to hide for a day or two, or get a room of your own somewhere. There is one question that your solar chart is presenting, though: to what extent do you link sex with marriage? This might be in the most literal sense, of thinking that sex is only appropriate in wedlock (this idea somehow persists, even if meekly), but it’s more likely to take the form of an erotic encounter being an implied contract of some kind (a boldly persistent idea). This is the hook. Whatever you may choose, you must set the terms of the agreement where an intimate experience is concerned. Take leadership; state your terms and your expectations. Ask for these things from anyone you share yourself with. You have just enough detachment right now to see through the fog and come up with some original ideas. You’re much more adventurous than you let on; society has invented all kinds of devices to deal with people like you. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You are big enough to handle anyone’s erratic behavior. You are broad-minded enough to handle the self-centered way that many people act. But how much do you want to endure? Notice when your patience is on half-empty rather than when it’s running all the way out. Notice who consumes the most of your resources. And most of all, notice who notices you — that you’re a person with feelings, desires and needs. Those are the people you want in your life: individuals capable of taking care of themselves and who offer a measure of mutuality. You would probably say that’s tops on your list of qualifications for partner or friend, though how often does it work out that way? At the moment, it’s easy for you to get drawn into the service-to-others thing in a way that can go out of control. This calls for conscious decision-making. Be aware of the commitments you’ve made to others and the extent to which they are expecting or demanding more than what you’ve offered. You might also notice when someone is mirroring back to you one of your own tendencies that you want to let go of. The more you work on yourself, the less tolerant you will be of people who do anything less than honor your full personhood. You must treat yourself well first, and others will follow suit. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Remember that experiments are just that: the exploration of experience, and of your awareness. You have a few of these going on in both your personal life and your less-personal work life. Notice the overlaps and the connections between them. People are people, no matter what supposed role they play. The whole issue of appropriateness is over-rated, as you know, and you may find yourself crossing various lines this month. The one thing to be careful of is where sex meets money. The one place that calls for a boundary is where your financial life meets your amorous life. This is less about spending money and more about who controls it. Keep a grip on your business affairs, make your own decisions and then be as generous as you want. Nothing you say or do implies that you’re anyone else’s property. If anyone gets that idea, you’ll want to notice, so listen for the subtle clues. Your life is a kind of gift economy, wherein people have the opportunity to share with one another. Yes, this goes against the grain of our whole economic system and the prevailing theory of relationship. You have the strength and the integrity to stand up to this in your own life. You are your own person, and everyone will be happier for recognizing that basic fact. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Saturn is in your sign, and that may describe certain emotional challenges you’re facing. It might seem as if these challenges are coming from outside you. Yet your inner life is where the energy is flowing, which includes your emotions and also how you respond to events in your environment. You’ll make more progress on the kinds of maturity that Saturn is here to teach if you keep your locus of awareness internal. Spend as much time alone as you can, and really feel what amounts to a world that you contain. You’re integrating certain experiences from your distant past, on the way to finding your way to the present. This will continue through the late winter and into the spring. Yes, it’s more typical for the Sagittarian quest to be an adventure in the world. It’s bolder and more daring to take your desire to unravel the mysteries of the planet into your own heart and soul. As you do this, your relationships will change. You will be more sensitive to how you feel about people, and you’re more likely to notice the subtle influence they have on you. And when you branch out into the world, you’ll notice different things and feel more connected to your inner core; more receptive and approaching a more harmonious state with the people around you. Go in before you go out. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Pluto in your sign is still pushing, pulling and stretching you, though I also hope you’re getting the message to aspire to bolder and more interesting things. That means having an idea of what’s bold and interesting to you, and reaching beyond your current circumstances, particularly in your profession. Make sure you aspire to what you really want, just in case you get it. That’s the whole thing with success: it’s demanding. Once attained, it often feels like you must earn it again every day. If you claim to have some knowledge, one of the first things you’re likely to discover is how much you need to learn; and something must motivate that process of education. Let that be love: not the love of image, or of appearance, or of the idea of something, but the actual thing itself. Have as few illusions as you can, lest you become disillusioned; and if you do, be grateful when illusions are replaced by something closer to reality. It’s a delicate balance, between reaching to exceed your grasp, and taking on too much responsibility — and there may not actually be a point of equilibrium. The one thing you can do, over and over again, every single day, is resolve to be true to yourself, and make each choice consciously. Then verify again and again that you’re actually faithful to yourself. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Dear Friend and Reader:

If you have an Aquarius Sun, Moon or rising sign, you know that it’s associated with ‘group consciousness’. But a group is made up of individuals, all making their own decisions as they relate to one another.

P.S. Your audio Birthday Reading makes a perfect compliment to the written readings of the 2017 annual edition — in fact, Eric approaches the two types of readings very differently — and it makes an amazing gift.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Take the time to put your feelings into words, and share them. Size is not everything, though I suggest this be longer than a tweet. Reach into some of the unusual depths that you’ve been feeling, and that may be daunting. It is, however, the expression and sharing that will help you validate your experiences, and keep your exploration going. If you keep silent, you won’t hear yourself as clearly. If you don’t write down your thoughts, you’re less likely to remember what ground you’re covering. It’s not just your arrival to a new place that counts (and such is inevitable). Rather, it’s how you got there that matters. Remember that this is a spiritual journey, and its most interesting places are symbols and ideas — and these are easy to forget. Treat each event or episode in your life as an initiation, which teaches you something, changes you slightly and significantly, and leads you to another place. As you do this, you’re closing gaps and spaces inside yourself, rather than trying to fill them up with something less fulfilling. You’re healing cracks in your psyche and openings in your emotional body. Your overall direction of travel is toward being a more solid, dependable and grounded person. And this is all preparation for something else, for experiences vastly different from what you’ve ever had before. Therefore, make friends with the unfamiliar. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Practice feeling good about yourself. It’s a skill that you’ll learn over time, though you’re being helped significantly by a factor you might not have expected. The one issue that you’ve been affected by the most deeply, the one you thought you could never resolve, the one that’s vexed you for years, is finally giving way. Part of what you’re doing is establishing a correct relationship to the past. You know that you cannot just stow it away. You know you cannot drag it around with you. You know that you cannot hold every relationship to the standard of what’s happened in the past. You’re releasing the toxic effects of what you’ve been carrying, and at the same time, you’re learning to claim the most positive lessons from what you went through. This conversion process is the essence of emotional and spiritual healing. Claiming the knowledge and experience you’ve gained, and allowing it to change you, is far more than positive thinking; you might think of it as positive becoming. One image from your solar chart is about embracing the different opposites that you contain within you. Those polarities might be your inner male and female aspects, or any seemingly competing desires or values that you observe. Part of the maturity you’re growing into involves allowing yourself to expand, and embracing those oppositions rather than fighting them. Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Some say it’s safer not turning your fantasies into reality. The wisdom of tantra would say that you’re only safe doing so, because the imagination is slippery and unwieldy until you focus your feelings on what’s solid and verifiable. True, one takes various risks doing anything physical, though it would seem that’s why we all incarnated in bodies. Why dream about art when you can make art? Why imagine how a photograph might look, when you can create that picture? Why pretend to know how good something might feel, when you can go explore the experience and find out? Well, there’s a good reason. Entering a space of physical emotion means that you open yourself up to the full spectrum of feelings, including the potential for pain and fear. Many prefer to avoid those possibilities, or become nervous when things get a little too real. Yet you want and need to be real.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your wildest hopes and dreams are actually possible, though it helps if you know what they are. You’re finally starting to figure out that you don’t need to count on the worst happening. You see your own potential. Yet in order to dial in the deeper and bolder possibilities, you must allow yourself to be different, and to stand out from others around you. It’s one thing to know you’ve got something else going on; it’s another thing to step into your true identity no matter what others may think. When you’re really growing, that threshold of not caring what others think is a great place to arrive. You can feel like you finally have your priorities in order. You might also shock yourself with the recognition of how much energy you’ve invested in trying to conform to expectations that have absolutely nothing to do with you. The excellent news is: you no longer need to live that way.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Mercury’s current link to Neptune is bestowing you with a touch of clairvoyance. Listen to your hunches, particularly around matters of career and finance. You really can see around corners and peer through walls, if you will look, and use your subtle senses. What may surprise you is how much you care, and how deeply touched you are by what seemed to be something work-related. The depth of your feeling and your desire for the right thing to happen represent a calling for you. Your need to participate, and to offer your energy, are providing you direction. You’re getting to feel what it’s like to actually be needed and to have the opportunity to do something that’s both necessary and beautiful. Feel within yourself for confirmation that this is the right thing. Sit quietly for a few minutes and ask; consider carefully what you hear.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — A close partner is likely to provide you with information that you are looking for. You’re more inclined to trust only what you personally discover, though what you learn is close enough to count as such. What you discern from any source, you still must consider and assimilate. You seem determined to take your life in a new direction. You seem obsessed by your need for trust rather than fear to direct you, and that’s the way you’re being guided. One result will be a new sensation of emotional freedom, like you have your options open and have space available to stretch out and explore. Let that need, rather than attachment, guide you. As you open up, you’ll be called in the direction of your deepest passion. Give yourself permission to follow: to be in love with life, in love with your potential and in love with yourself.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The Sun is now in your opposite sign Aquarius, which looks like it’s taking some pressure off of you. It’s also reminding you to ask for the help you need, and to remember that many hands make light work. People love you, and they’re willing to provide support to make your life better and easier. Ease is the very thing you need the most. Taking a relaxed, calm approach to your affairs will remind you that you’re safe, and help you to notice how many caring people are around you. If you allow your energy to flow, everything and everyone in your environment will seem more relaxed and open. You may find yourself deeply moved by the feeling that people care, and that life does not need to be such an uphill struggle. So, be honest about what you need, and take any opportunity to share something you have, or to share yourself.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Most people accept that if you’ve been hurt in the past, you should be more cautious in the present. If opening up creates vulnerability (that same logic goes), maybe it’s better not to open up. Yet you know better than that. Your current situation is inviting you to let go of those things that have happened which you don’t want to happen again. It’s not necessary for them to be repeated, and you can choose to let go of painful situations without shutting down or closing yourself off to the love and affection of those near you. Support others in being the best people they can be, by holding space open for their most positive potential. From that space of being open and suspending judgment, it will be easier to feel whether you belong in any situation. Just remember: you don’t need to run toward someone, or run away. Genuine emotions are involved. You’re in a deep place; move gently and intentionally.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You have all the confidence you need. You don’t need anyone to give you permission. You don’t need to know any more than you do; you merely must use your abundant knowledge and experience. If anything, the real lesson of what develops over the next few days involves you figuring out just how much wisdom you possess. Remember that whatever may have happened in the past, every new situation is unprecedented. Using even the most refined skills is a creative act, because you must respond in the moment to what is new about that occasion. You are in a quantum healing zone. Keep your mind fresh and alert to everything and everyone in your environment. You’re approaching a moment of deep exchange, where you discover you have what someone needs, and they have what you need. Be generous and open up to receiving sincerely what you’re offered.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — The challenge you face is nothing more or less than stating your needs honestly. That’s all that stands between you, your deeper pleasure, and honest commitment. You need to defend your point of view or what you want; you don’t need to be demanding. You merely need to be real. That may be challenging enough because you must work your way through some denial or emotional fog. You may need to override your concern that being honest did not work well in the past. I would propose that the real sticking point is guilt: that if some negativity enters the equation, it’s because you feel bad about making your needs known. That guilt has a way of messing up the vibes. It’s not necessary; though stepping beyond it can take some courage, and learning how not to feel guilty about not feeling guilty. Keep it simple; love will guide you past all of that.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You remain well-supported, grounded and strong. You’re also unusually sensitive, and may find yourself reacting spontaneously to influences in your environment. Remember that the crisis of any family member or living partner is not necessarily your crisis. Pay attention to that boundary. You may feel inclined to be of assistance. You may have just the healing balm or reassurance that someone needs, though you would be wise to keep some emotional distance. Not a lot, just a little: just enough to remember that you’re in a facilitating role. One thing you can do is advocate for justice where you notice that advocacy is needed. Your voice will matter. Your opinion can make an actual difference. This will be all the more meaningful if you get no personal benefit from the outcome.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Trust what you say. Trust that your words are helpful and meaningful, even if you didn’t plan to say quite that thing. This is not always easy, especially if you have a tendency to be confident in the moment when you open your mouth, and then regret what you said a little while later. The challenge you face is to trust all the way through: when you feel moved to speak, and after you’ve said your piece. This is what it means to have actual faith in yourself. How do you get there? If you practice being moved by love every time you take action, you can fall back on that. If this is your habit, you’ll know that what you say is motivated by healing. Therefore, be gentle, and be real, and listen to how others respond to you without judging those responses. Be available to take part in any conversation that you start.

P.S. Your audio Birthday Reading makes a perfect compliment to the written readings of the 2017 annual edition — in fact, Eric approaches the two types of readings very differently — and it makes an amazing gift.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You know what your priorities are. Most people do. You have the strength and independence of spirit to act on what’s important to you, without making a big drama about it. The potential point of conflict is what you must give up to gain something that you want. You might ask yourself if this is really a sacrifice, or whether, in the alternate, you would be shorn of something you really don’t want. This, too, is a matter of your priorities, which have changed in recent years. You can make today’s decisions based on what was important in the past, or what is important today. Getting clear about this can represent a genuine moment of clarity. Why is it worth being alive, today? What values have remained consistent through your entire life? Just recognizing this will be a revelation.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You have the option to stay open — perhaps more open than you’ve ever been. You have it in you to increase your sensitivity and your passion, and therefore to live more fully. You’re keenly aware that life has pain, loss and strife, and that many people are in pain. It’s not possible to be open to some of life; to be open at all, you must be open to everything, and you know that intuitively. You have the option to be a true artist, to remain sensitive and alive and stretch into life more fully as you do. You would do this out of respect for your own existence: live more fully and celebrate all of life. Extend yourself and be a friend to everyone. Remember above all that your example is vitally important to the people around you. What you say matters, though how you respond to life and how fully you offer yourself to existence matter more.
