Moonshine Horoscopes — Gemini New Moon Edition

Dear Friend and Reader:

Now that we are about a week and a half past the last of those three eclipses, we’re approaching the Gemini New Moon. This New Moon is the complementary phase to the Sagittarius Full Moon eclipse, a ‘first marker’ for whatever that energy set in motion, though the eclipses will keep unfolding for months. This New Moon is not an eclipse, but it is a ‘live one’, with several planets joining the Sun and Moon conjunction in Gemini. It will be exact at 11:56 am EDT on Saturday. (You can view that full chart here.)

Planet Waves

In today’s Moonshine horoscopes below, Genevieve Hathaway has interpreted this Gemini New Moon for each of the 12 Moon signs. We’ll also be running her blog post on the New Moon in Thursday’s Daily Astrology column.

Your Moon sign is where the Moon was when you were born, which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. It helps to have your birth time but often that is not necessary. You can also try reading these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional layers of insight.

In order of degree, the planets in Gemini for the New Moon are: Pallas Athene, Mars, the Sun, the Moon, Jupiter and Black Moon Lilith (actually a calculated point). That’s lot of activity on the mental plane. It could feel like having many options and ideas that are true for you all at once — and they may be.

This chart has stronger things to say, however. For one thing, the conjunction of the Sun and Moon is exactly trine Juno in Aquarius. Trines open up a flow of energy, and this one looks like it is opening up channels to give voice to our emotions, thoughts and desires about our relationship needs. This is an opportunity to start a new conversation about these things in the face of crystallized social conventions and expectations.

Juno also carries the theme of social justice, which is hugely important right now. For one, because the world so desperately needs us to stand up for social justice together as individuals while Uranus and Pluto continue to up-end governments and cultural institutions around the world. (Witness the latest protests and government crackdowns in Turkey this past week).

Also, the New Moon chart is asking us whether we’re being ‘two-faced’ or not. Mars and Pallas Athene are conjunct in Gemini and square Neptune in Pisces. If you really want to be sincere and live a ‘higher vibration’ life, you’ll want to examine the ways you may be perpetuating the lies of politics.

Most of us do so in one area of life or another, with varying levels of awareness that we’re doing it. But if you can dig in and reach some honesty with yourself on this score, the sky is offering assistance in making it count. The Gemini New Moon is also square Chiron: any crisis of consciousness can lead to healing if you’re willing to stick with it and act on it. And Pholus in Sagittarius, opposite the Sun and Moon, is playing Devil’s advocate, ready to take the ball and run with it if you give up the power of your thoughts to dogma.

What will you set in motion this weekend?

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The Gemini New Moon is highlighting how you think and the patterns in which your mind moves. Your mind is one of your most powerful tools. I suggest experimenting with a few new ideas and approaches to how you use it. When your mind and emotional body act in tandem toward the same goal, they shape your outer world. Have you noticed how well that works? Like a laser, you can focus your mind on exactly what you desire, shaping and creating your vision. It’s like a muscle; the more you work it, the easier it will be for you to employ with exact precision. Each new situation is an opportunity to apply your full mental capacity and emotional commitment. At first this might feel limiting — yet notice how much you actually do accomplish and initiate when you are working with your full focus and emotional resources channeled in the same direction. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your sense of feeling good about who you are is shifting in a new direction. A new viewpoint is helping you peel back a layer on an aspect of your self-esteem that at times may have felt too slippery to grasp. Like shedding skins, you are working through the layers to reach the core of what it means for you to have an expansive sense of self-worth. Hint: it’s independent from external situations, including how much money is in your bank account or stashed under your mattress. This process may come with the feeling of being exposed. While potentially uncomfortable, this has pushed you to re-assess something you’ve been told in the past. Ask yourself whether you should believe it anymore. Remember, your truth has a distinctly different theme from what anyone around you holds true for you. As you settle into this viewpoint, you are building a strong foundation of self-confidence. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini Sun and Rising — a Reading for You

Dear Gemini Reader:

Your birthday reading for 2013-2014 has become the bestselling birthday reading of the year. I bring to life the truly beautiful astrology that you’ll be experiencing over the next four seasons.

Planet Waves
Eric and his astrology assistant Jonah, who has Virgo Sun and Moon.

I begin with a discussion of what every Gemini should know about his or her sign, and then I cover a diversity of transits that you’ve read about elsewhere but may not have put into the context of your life.

Jupiter is in your sign now, joined by Mercury and Venus. Soon planets will move into Cancer, the sign associated with resources, money and self-esteem — that is good news on all of those topics. I describe what it means to have your ruling planet Mercury retrograde three times in water signs — covering seven months of the year.

I talk about Pluto going through your 8th house, which is raising all kinds of questions about the role that structure plays in your relationships — and your desire to burst free and express yourself. I cover Saturday’s eclipse of the Moon in Sagittarius, your relationship sign.

I have created my 2013 Gemini reading specifically to help you tap into the very unique energy coming your way — energy with the potential to transform how you feel, think and relate. This is a truly helpful moment in your life, one that can make up for some of the challenges of recent years.

The reading will be accurate, informative and fun for Gemini rising and Moon as well. You can listen to a short audio preview here.

Your reading is ready for instant access. The price for this hour of astrology plus tarot reading (and bonus materials) is $29.95. You may order your Gemini birthday reading here.

I know you’ll love this reading. Please do check it out.

Lovingly,

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — This week’s New Moon takes place in your Moon sign, now a busy place with many planets and asteroids moving through. A number of personal planets, including Mercury, Venus and Mars, have either just been in residence in your sign or are moving through. Gemini is a multi-faceted sign, and with all these different additional energies present, it may feel like you are living with many versions of yourself. If you start to question which is the real you, try considering them all as parts of your complex nature. You are in a moment of seeing how these various aspects of yourself are more similar than different — merging them into what feels like a cohesive version of yourself. This is more about the feeling of being whole rather than any disconnect between the different sides of you. You are connecting with yourself in a way you may not have thought was possible in the past. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — During the New Moon in Gemini, your 12th house is an active place — the Sun, Moon and a number of other personal planets are packed into this area of your chart. This may feel like something new is blossoming under the surface of your psyche, or like you have access to a well of energy you weren’t aware of before. There is plenty of energy here for you to tap into and apply to all areas of your life. At times it could feel like working the controls of your own sophisticated rocket. All you need to do is envision where you wish to go and it will take you there. I suggest riding this energy wave growing from within you and following where it leads. You can think of this as letting your powerful inspiration be your guide as to where you apply your time, energy and creativity. You will get some truly unique and innovative results. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Lately, you have been working through a doubt or question regarding your role in a particular group, and whether it is the right one for you. One of your emotional needs is for your voice and opinion to be heard and respected. I don’t mean that you must always be considered ‘right’, rather that people actively listen to and consider your ideas. You have an opportunity now to set a new pattern — of your opinion being valued by others. Those around us follow our lead in how we want to be treated. As you place a greater sense of worth on your thoughts, feelings and opinions, those around you will do the same. Part of respecting yourself is setting boundaries that others will also respect, and holding people to it. What you are gaining through this process is a greater connection and sense of belonging in the communities you are a part of. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You are reworking an idea you’ve held for a while regarding the roles of work and passion in your life. You are coming up against something you were taught as a child that is causing you to question your approach to your career. What you are making contact with are a few outdated concepts that no longer serve who you have grown to be. Think of this New Moon as a chance to update your inner software, regarding beliefs your parents held and how they do not align with your own. Start there and work forward to what you believe today. The goal is an integrated concept: you give to your work by tapping directly into your passions. When the work you do to make money is based on your inner creativity, you fill a deep well of energy from which you can draw. As new options present themselves, you will continue to restructure this career/passion symbiosis. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Planet Waves

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — At the moment, you are in a unique position to be able to see how the beliefs you’ve held have affected the choices you’ve made. Beliefs are ideas or perceptions that we judge to be true — it’s a feeling, not necessarily a fact. These internal sensations inform the degree to which we believe or disbelieve something. What we believe has a large impact on how we experience our lives. You are undergoing a process of re-orienting your relationship to belief and how you use it to aid your vision for your life. Over this New Moon, you will be able to move between emotion and detached observation effortlessly. View ideas from multiple angles. Enough distance will let you see if it’s grounded in truth rather than emotional attachment. By testing each belief this way, you will be able to choose consciously those ideas that have a strong foundation in accurate facts. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Information is coming through regarding the motivations of a few important partners in your life. You intuitively know where others are coming from before they do, giving you a very clear picture of why a few key individuals are doing what they are doing. You can think of this as working with insider information, as though you get to see what is going on behind the scenes in their own personal world. The more you know about what drives a person’s actions, the easier it is for you to predict the reactions they will have and choices they will make. I suggest considering the view that this information is more useful for arranging mutually beneficial agreements than for manipulating the other party for your own personal gain. An arrangement where everyone involved benefits will move your personal goals much further along than an agreement where only one party benefits. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — During the next week try working with the concept that your approach to relationships is just that — your own, not dictated by others. Think of this as structuring your relationships to fit who you are as an individual. From there it follows that you hold space for partners to do the same. At the moment, you may feel like you need multiple types of relationships, or multiple relationships, to satisfy the different facets of your personality. I propose reimagining how you assess information regarding whether a relationship is a good fit. Start from the place of how you approach sex, looking for a fluid, growth-centered partnership rather than a strict set of rules and expectations. This is about bringing a willingness to experiment and hold space for personal exploration. Recognize everyone’s experiences and needs, including your own, as valid, withholding judgment. From these open and honest experiences strong relationships can be built with a foundation rooted in love and acceptance. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — As a Capricorn Moon, your Moon sign ruler is Saturn, a planet about time and honoring what we do with our time. New ideas and options equal new ways to think about how you use your time. Information is coming to light this week that helps you make some long-desired changes in how you structure your days, specifically in terms of what your personal energy goes into. This restructuring process is helping you plan things out so you have more time for that which you value the most. I suggest seeing time as a way to assign value to the things that are most important to you. I don’t mean that you shirk any obligations because they have less personal value, rather that you utilize the template of time to get done what needs to be done. This frees up time for the things and people that bring you the deepest feeling of meaning and connection with your life. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — A project you’ve been working on for a while is about to take a big leap forward. This may seem to come suddenly when in fact it’s been building for some time. You are synthesizing a number of ideas, resulting in a quick advancement. Continue to work the edge of this project, stretching out further and further into what is possible. I suggest considering a final product that is better than what other people have produced as not really better, but different. To be different there must be a piece of the unknown involved — experimenting with what hasn’t been tried before. Crafting a project that pushes the boundaries of certainty involves boldness and calculated risk-taking, two of your biggest assets. If you encounter any doubts from others, continue proceeding with what you know is right. Out on the edge is where innovation happens and discoveries are made. For many it’s an uncomfortable place to be; you in fact thrive there. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You are currently working with some deeply personal ideas about who you are. This process is drawing you into an investigation of how certain adults’ opinions impacted you during childhood. They influenced what you view as possible in terms of sharing who you are with the larger world. Know that questioning these ideas is a healthy process. You are making contact with how these adopted concepts influenced what you reveal in public situations. As a Pisces Moon, there is a piece of you that will always have one foot in the psychic realm — the part of existence we can’t touch but can connect with emotionally and intuitively. For you it is a very real, tangible place. Over the New Moon, you are dissolving internal blocks that were in the way of fully believing you can share this more ethereal side of yourself. As you move through this opening and show yourself, take note of how many people arrive to connect with you. Quite a few will. — By Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini New Moon Moonshine Horoscopes — and This Week on Planet Waves

Dear Friend and Reader:

We have Genevieve Hathaway’s Moonshine horoscopes here for you today. In these she has interpreted Saturday’s Gemini New Moon for each of the 12 signs.

Planet Waves

Eric will get even deeper into this weekend’s New Moon in his broadcast of Planet Waves FM later this evening. That usually posts at about 8 pm EDT (often sooner). He will also cover the planets entering Cancer and the grand water trine — along with matters of conscience and war on the topic of Bradley Manning.

As the current lunar cycle winds down, a succession of planets has begun to leave Gemini and enter Cancer. This is energizing a conversation involving planets in all three water signs — called a ‘grand trine’. Eric introduced the main theme of this configuration in Monday’s Daily Astrology post. He writes there:

“These placements indicate that we will all be taken into deeper water. If that’s uncomfortable I suggest looking within for what might be the root of that sensation. Somehow, though, I have a notion that many people have been experimenting with going deeper or exploring in there. Having planets in water signs on this kind of scale is like a deepening capacity for empathy, reflected in the cosmic signs.”

Today’s Daily Astrology considers how we can use the background of this deepening empathy and emotional sensitivity to navigate a potential sticking point: the need to verify whether we’re being honest with ourselves. If you’re caught arguing with yourself, are you sure your inner conflict is about what you think it is?

Lastly, are you a Gemini? Do you love one? Customers who have already listened to Eric’s 2013 Gemini Birthday Reading say they are “amazed at the accuracy” and that it’s “a focused and objective portrait” of what they are living through. The reading comprises two sections of astrology plus a tarot reading, and comes with bonus materials — all of it suitable for those with Gemini Sun, Moon or rising sign.

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

Moonshine Horoscopes — Sagittarius Full Moon Edition

Dear Friend and Reader:

In just less than four days, we will experience the third eclipse in this year’s rich spring eclipse season. This eclipse is along the Gemini-Sagittarius axis: a Sagittarius Full Moon, with the Moon opposite the Gemini Sun, exact at about 12:25 am EDT Saturday. (View full chart here.)

Planet Waves

Genevieve Hathaway has interpreted this Sagittarius Full Moon lunar eclipse for each of the 12 Moon signs in today’s Moonshine horoscopes below, and we’ll be running her post on this Full Moon eclipse in Thursday’s Daily Astrology blog. Your Moon sign is where the Moon was when you were born, which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. It helps to have your birth time but often that is not necessary. You can also try reading these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional layers of insight.

Visually, this will not be as noticeable or dramatic as the first lunar eclipse of the trio or the solar eclipse that we experienced two weeks ago. With a penumbral eclipse, the Moon (or part of it) passes through the outer edge of the Earth’s shadow, not the core of its shadow. Even if you watch it carefully, you might not notice a difference in the Moon’s appearance.

Astrologically, however, this eclipse still carries plenty of mojo. The Sun and Moon will be square Neptune in Pisces. Both Sun and Moon square Neptune can bring up cautions about illusions and disillusionment, and questions about your inner sense of integrity. Neptune can also offer us a way to dissolve inner obstacles. In a season of three eclipses, which are about releasing old patterns and setting new ones, this is helpful.

In addition, there’s another little-used, Pluto-like planet exactly aligned with this weekend’s eclipse: Orcus. Orcus was named after an ancient Etruscan god of the underworld (the Etruscans pre-dated the Romans); it is the namesake of orca whales (so-called killer whales) and J.R.R. Tolkien’s Orcs. This planet carries some associations of ‘that which comes up from below’.

The planet Orcus is located in early Virgo, opposite Neptune and square the Sun and Moon, making the T-square into a grand square.

In this position, Orcus in Virgo feels like a lurking fearful thought-form (perhaps an existential fear of death). Opposite Neptune, Orcus is opposed by what we tend to do, culturally and individually, in response to these thought-forms: escape with distracting illusions (entertainment) and other mind-altering substances (alcohol, drugs). Yes, there is a higher, universal-love manifestation of Neptune, but many people find that a lot harder to access.

So many of our fears are these mental-level (Virgo) obsessions; there are many very scared people out there, and it’s easy to get caught in a mental loop when we’re scared. The daily news is full of reasons to be afraid. It’s natural to want to escape the fear.

When you add the Sun and Moon at right angles to this dichotomy of obsessive, fearful thought-form versus escapism, you get a very useful question: If a thought-form is frightening, how do you deal with it? You probably have more choices than you think, since it is not reality.

That’s the thing that this eclipse is breaking open and stirring up: the limiting idea that fear and escapism are the only options. They are not. So ask yourself: what else can you do? What breaks up the false dichotomy, the mental loop and the feelings of powerlessness they engender? Hint: squares urge us to take action. At eclipse moments, even small acts can get you far.

Yours and truly,

with minor planet research by Eric

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — At the moment, you may be questioning an attitude you’ve held for a long time. This viewpoint has become so ingrained it feels more like a habit than a conscious manner of thinking. As you make contact with the opposite perspective, it feels at odds with what you’ve held to be true, like you are being pulled in two different directions. I suggest not spending too much energy or time worrying about this sensation; rather take the longer view that there are two ways to experience existence, part of the same spectrum — one through the emotional body and one through the mind or ego. What you are restructuring is your attitude toward the concept of freedom and the role it plays in your life. Freedom to be yourself is an important component to a genuine sense of being in charge of your life. As you work this fine edge it may feel bold, even a bit dangerous. That’s a sign that you are making contact with something authentic. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — As you’ve moved through this series of eclipses, your astrology has been highlighting an emphasis on your desire nature. This has been firing up a lot of passionate emotions for you. It may have felt like something intense was pushing up from within you, needing to be expressed in the physical world. This was accompanied by a sense of urgency, like you had arrived and it was time to act. What you have been working through has reconnected you with one of your deepest desires; you may have dismissed it in the past as unrealistic or not valid. You are connecting the dots between that and what it means for you to live daily from a place of inherent self-worth. As you act consciously, take note of the internal sense of strength that comes with these actions. That strength can also be thought of another way — as a more permanent sense of self-esteem. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Pressure is building to clear the air surrounding an important relationship situation, like you are reaching the culmination of a shift you and a partner have been making for some time. What you are learning about your relationship has much to do with what you are learning about yourself; both are growing in tandem. Space you have been holding for you and your partner to explore who you are has rippled out into the relationship itself, bending and shifting its structure to fit where you both have grown. Your sharp, quick mind may be pushing to resolve the developments quickly. I suggest taking the slow and steady approach to iron out all the details. As more information becomes available in the coming weeks the pressure will ease and a clear path forward will appear from which you will both benefit. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — At the moment, your imagination is like a prism — it contains a multitude of facets, shapes and surfaces to reflect what is coming up from your subconscious into your conscious mental space. Like a prism refracting light, it breaks the information passing through into its different components, letting you see the complex nuances of the various ideas moving through your mind. This process is providing you a rich vein of creativity from which to draw. You can utilize the entire rainbow of ideas or just draw on the individual components and pieces. Like an already full bottle, all these new ideas will overflow and take up more and more of your conscious mental space if not burned off in the form of creative expression. I suggest allocating time and space to take what’s bubbling up inside of you and expressing it tangibly into your projects. You can draw much inspiration and innovation from the well of your imagination now. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The Sagittarius Full Moon takes place in the area of your chart that has to do with fun and erotic sexual interactions. Sex is supposed to be a good time and you’re getting a reminder of that at the moment. I suggest being open to what opportunities arise this week and seeing where they lead. A Full Moon in such an adventurous sign as Sagittarius is a reminder to experiment. Hold space for both your own curiosity and a partner’s desire to try new things. Use this opportunity to try a fantasy or two. I realize that sex is one of the most personal acts we humans do and sharing a fantasy with a partner can be a very vulnerable experience. As you expand your sexual horizons this week, remember: the truth is erotic and so is vulnerability. Approach the topic of breaking out of your usual mold from a place of genuine curiosity and authentic desire to share the experience with your partner. You have the support you need to share what you want to try and take the step into the realm of experimentation. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — As you collect information during this weekend’s Full Moon, double- and triple-check the facts. There’s something you are trying to work with or get a handle on that is particularly slippery at the moment. I suggest being especially discerning about what you see, hear and think. Facts may be distorted, incorrect or only partial. As you investigate what’s coming to light, try to use multiple sources of information; double-check the story and the sources. Note where information seems incomplete or does not quite fit and dig a layer deeper. What you are gaining insight into is how certain family patterns and beliefs affected your attitude toward your career or the career you think you can have.  As you work through this material, a number of new options will become available. Proceed with an open sense of curiosity; a willingness to try will get you a lot further than you may think. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Planet Waves

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — An aspect of your local environment is challenging you in a constructive manner. Pay extra attention to what you are learning in clearing a small hurdle. Whatever you are working through is pushing you to find new resources to get where you wish to go, and in the process, you are discovering a resource in yourself that may not have seemed like one before. What you are connecting with is your ability to see the larger picture in situations. You can think of this as having a greater perspective instead of getting lost in the here and now. This viewpoint can both help you see where you’re going and also where you’ve been, and how the two are related. Holding this kind of vision for your life and the challenges you run into will aid you in moving with intention, keeping your energy and emotions focused on your end goals. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — A particular doubt keeps arising surrounding your ability to deliver creatively on a project. A certain problem or challenge has presented itself and you may feel you don’t have the resources within yourself to find an innovative solution. I suggest you consider it just that: a feeling, not a fact. Plans come to fruition through preparation, a workable strategy, and the flexibility to shift with the plan as it evolves over time. You innately know how to proceed with a path you’ve recently started down. This journey may seem relatively new, but it comes from years of preparation. As you move forward with intention and a steady vision, trust your intuition. Honor the work you’ve done prior to this moment, both with an honest assessment of how much you’ve completed and by recognizing how many tools are in your tool belt. One of the biggest assets is your authenticity; that is, being in line with your truth. As you take each step, answer one question: Is this completely true for me? — by Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You are experiencing what may feel like a rift in your internal landscape, dividing one kind of territory and experience from another. Initially this may feel a bit disorienting, like you don’t have solid ground to stand on. I suggest viewing it rather as something that is helping you recreate some stagnant internal patterns. Take time to move through this process of reworking an emotional response. As you get clear on where you have been and where you have grown, you will be able to share this new aspect of yourself and your needs with a close partner. Having clarity yourself is the first step in being able to communicate the changes you are undergoing. Trust that you will find the vocabulary to convey how your emotional space has changed. Apply patience as you bring a close partner up to speed with these changes and growth. It may take a few conversations, but what it will bring you both is a deeper sense of intimacy and connection. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Imagine that you have a special space inside yourself: a sacred room that no one else can access. This internal hidden compartment is your own safe area for experimentation, a part of you where you are completely honest without any constraints or worry of ramifications. It’s a place in which you don’t pull punches or propagate denial. During the coming weeks, spend time in this hidden inner area investigating what self-esteem means to you and how your level of self-worth changes in response to external situations. Take note of what you learn in this safe space of honesty. You are learning a lot about family patterns that have affected how it feels to be you. Rather than seeing any negative self-perception as a ‘self-esteem crisis’, recognize that this is a miscommunicated family message you were imprinted with at an early age. Once you see how the message got scrambled or incorrectly passed down generations back, you can rewrite the script to build a stronger sense of permanently feeling good being you. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You’re reworking a perspective regarding what you have to give back to the world. I propose an idea — that your visionary nature is one of your assets. To you this may seem a normal way to live, though for many people around you how you perceive the world can be hard to grasp. Many people struggle with stepping out of the pre-constructed boxes of tradition and status quo. For you, though, it’s like slipping behind the wheel of a different car; it takes little effort to step out from a previous way of thinking. Living so far ahead of others at times can feel isolating or like the sensation of being present in your own world is hard to grasp. I suggest you keep putting your vision out there, easy for others to see. An opening is arriving that will help connect you with people who share your unique viewpoint; turn on your neon sign of ‘you’, and you’ll attract a network of people who share your vision. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Your connection with a meaningful career may feel slippery, like it’s there one moment and gone the next. Your vision for your career is quite far-reaching, so I suggest not getting distracted by any sense of murkiness that seems to obscure useful information. Instead, focus on your independence. You are free to adopt any point of view you wish. What you are facing now is a more conventional approach to career versus what actually suits your unique situation. Don’t get sucked into other people’s perspectives or seeing yours as lacking because it differs. Don’t be surprised if you see the world a particular way and others don’t quite get it — that’s temporary. At the moment, you’re meeting your career in a way that fits where you wish to go. Proceed boldly, holding onto your sense of adventure. For you, part of living a meaningful life is having a career that speaks to your soul. That is the ultimate criteria by which you gauge which ways to move along your career path. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius Full Moon Moonshine Horoscopes — and Oklahoma

Dear Friend and Reader:

Today we have for you Genevieve Hathaway’s Moonshine horoscopes at this link, which she has written for the Sagittarius Full Moon and lunar eclipse at the end of the week.

Planet Waves
Saturday’s eclipse is a ‘penumbral’ eclipse, which does not look as dramatic as a partial eclipse. Photo by Amanda Painter.

We also have the beginning of our coverage of the tornado that swept through Moore, Oklahoma, yesterday afternoon, being reported as the largest tornado in known history.

In an update written last night, Eric reads the chart for the incident, though he begins with a commentary about the extended nervous system we experience through our connection to TV and the Internet.

“Our senses were never intended to extend this far, or to perceive from this point of view — especially for those who are empaths or sensitives. They are more practical, intended to provide information about our local surroundings and the people with us in any given moment. Now we’re subject to incursion by anything that happens anywhere, and most of the time what we hear about is painful.”

He adds:

“These storms are all powered by atmospheric heat, which is what’s increasing steadily as the carbon levels rise. Global warming is, in turn, the result of a kind of ecological war that has effects we see every day, and hear about in every different form. The problem is that we’re seeing the details but not the whole scenario. We see these individual episodes without quite recognizing, or bringing fully to the surface of consciousness, that they are part of a larger scenario.”

There will be more in tonight’s edition of Planet Waves FM.

Note to Geminis and the people who love them — if you’d like to get a jump on a truly useful and beautiful birthday gift for yourself or your Gemini friends, you can pre-order Eric’s Gemini Birthday Reading for 2013 here. It offers great insights whether you have a Gemini Sun, rising sign or Moon. The pre-order price is the best we offer — it will go up when the reading is published later in the week.

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

Taurus New Moon Edition

Dear Friend and Reader:

This Thursday, May 9, at 8:28 pm EDT the Taurus New Moon will form an annular (not annual) solar eclipse. Although it may not be visible from where you are, astrologically this is still a powerful moment — and we’ve entered the on-ramp into that vortex already.

Planet Waves

In today’s Moonshine horoscopes, Genevieve Hathaway has interpreted this Taurus New Moon solar eclipse for each of the 12 Moon signs. Your Moon sign is where the Moon was when you were born, which you can find out by entering your birth data into Serennu.com. It helps to have your birth time but often that is not necessary. You can also try reading these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional layers of insight.

Because this week’s eclipse is a South Node eclipse — meaning that the Sun and Moon are conjunct the lunar South Node in Taurus (a calculated point) — the emphasis is on releasing what is no longer serving you (beliefs, things, relationships and especially values) to make room for what fits your life now. It’s also a time to remember and recognize the gifts and talents you have that are so second nature, you tend to take them for granted. Appreciate them by putting them to work for you.

There’s an impressive collection of planets aligned with this eclipse. Many are in Taurus, including Mars (if you allow about 5 degrees of wiggle room), Mercury, and the asteroid Pallas Athene. If you broaden your lens to look at a larger array of minor planets, it turns out there are quite a number in the four fixed signs (Taurus, Leo, Scorpio and Aquarius) hanging out near the eclipse degree.

You can see a listing of those planets here on Eric’s Facebook page, where a discussion about them is forming. Eric will also be covering some of the themes they represent in his broadcast of Planet Waves FM later tonight (Tuesday), and Genevieve will offer her take on the eclipse in a blog post Thursday morning.

One last thought, just to emphasize the point of the current astrology: we are in a period of being able to engage in willful, progressive decision-making from now through Thursday’s eclipse. In other words, this is a time when you can recognize and let go of what does not work — and just as importantly, you can integrate what does work. There are two steps to the process, but both steps require being willing to see what you’re being shown — which, in truth, are things you already know.

New Moons and eclipses may create darkness in the sky above us, but metaphorically that means you get a clearer view of what’s within, minus all the shiny, bright distractions around you. The idea is to make decisions on what truly matters; you know exactly where those things live.

Yours and truly,

Amanda Painter

Moonshine Horoscopes by Genevieve Hathaway

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — What do you value? Pull out a pen and paper and make a list of that which is most important to you. Making a list will provide a concrete way to gather your thoughts and sort through new information regarding what you think of as important. Are you at the top of that list? At the moment, you are connecting with a certain doubt that has been floating around your psyche for a long time. So long it may have seemed like the normal state of your existence. I’m not referring to any kind of self-esteem crisis, rather a deep and pervasive sensation that you could not quite measure up to the vision you held for yourself and your place in the world. There has been some block that you thought you could not get around. As the Taurus New Moon takes place this week, you come into contact with the fact that this is only perception, not truth. This realization will bring you a long way in resolving any doubt you’ve held about yourself, bringing a greater sense of confidence in your ability to be an active and successful participant in guiding the direction of your life. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You are moving through a period of time where your life may seem to accelerate, almost too quickly for you to comprehend. It’s like you are moving through a series of doors, quickly going from point A to point D, at a speed so quick you may not even register doors B or C. For you, who likes to take your time before making any changes or decisions, this could be disconcerting or frustrating. I propose a question: what additional benefit does examining the intermediate steps along the way bring? Doors B and C are just means to reach your final destination. I suggest going with the flow of the quickly-moving events. Let go of expectations of where you will end up, instead flowing with where the changes take you. What is on offer is a rapid re-alignment of your core values, bringing you into contact with a deeper and richer sense of who you are and what you desire. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Hello Taurus Sun, Moon and rising sign folks! Your Taurus 2013 birthday reading is ready. I cover Saturn in your opposite sign Scorpio, as well as the current eclipses, and what it means to have so many planets in your sign, rising sign or Moon sign at this time of year. I speak to you for an hour about your relationships, your quest for independence and what looks like some special motivation to grow and become. It’s a beautiful reading, recorded with a warm, intimate feeling. You may listen as many times as you like, or download it into iTunes or  another MP3 player. Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — A pattern or habit, which may not have been apparent to you before, is now becoming obvious, like it’s moving out of a blind spot and into full view. A door opens that allows you to step in and examine this material, allowing you to decide how to re-arrange the system by which you operate. For a while, there has been a gap in information that has affected your life story even if you didn’t know it. You are gaining insight into the ways you unconsciously tried to please other people at your own expense, ignoring one of your own boundaries in the process. Gaining this awareness allows you to now address this habitual response to others. Focus on how you can make different choices and decisions in the future. You have a lot of help at the moment to do things differently. I suggest taking one decision at a time, making one change at a time. Before long you’ll be able to look back and see how far you’ve come, through a series of small changes. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Who is in your larger network and why? That last part is of particular significance. Part of standing in our own personal authority is taking ownership over the process of selecting who is around us. I suggest you take this one step further — rather than only selecting who enters your personal sphere, take steps to seek out the kinds of people you wish to fill your network. You can think of this as building a community of mentors, friends, colleagues and even acquaintances who add something of benefit to your life. The first step is identifying who you want around you and then reaching out to build relationships with those types of people. You are in a particularly influential moment and it won’t take much of a reach to connect with some people with whom you’ve wished to surround yourself. Focus on who you want around you, rather than whether or not the person will reciprocate your efforts to build a relationship. I suggest not getting distracted by any sense of doubt as to whether or not every person will respond to your efforts to connect; ultimately, enough will. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — An important work or career opportunity is presenting itself. This opening may seem to have arrived suddenly, though in truth you’ve been preparing and working toward it for a while. You are wrestling with a lingering sense of uncertainty about whether you have the skills and personal resources to capitalize on the rapid changes and progress in your work. I propose quickly dropping this notion and not questioning whether you can accomplish the new task ahead. Any sense of not being able to seize this opportunity is based on attitudes and perceptions from childhood. What you are running up against is a wounding that goes back many generations in your family. Identify it for what it is and realize that it does not inform who you actually are and where you are going. Instead, stay grounded in the experiences and skills you do have. You have more than enough knowledge and skill to make the leap. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You’re at your happiest when the little things in life are ironed out. When details are straight and your environment is orderly and those around you are appreciating how hard you work, you feel good. Yet, this can at times lead you to over-plan, or to place too much emotional attachment into details of situations. The specifics are important in life, but can’t provide an entire picture of the landscape of any series of events. Space is opening for you to access a greater perspective that allows you to appreciate the larger picture rather than focusing too much on the details. You can also think of this as giving yourself and others grace to move within nuances of developments rather than following a set script. Take note of how you feel when you test out this new perspective on the events in your life. What you are connecting with is a new philosophy based on a greater degree of acceptance for the imperfections in the world — it isn’t just a new viewpoint but also a resource enabling you to apply greater flexibility to situations. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Planet Waves

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You are working through a kind of sexual negotiation based on what you value rather than present rules of society. Part of approaching any sexual relationship from an authentic place is treating yourself and the other party as distinct individuals who are growing, changing and learning. Negotiations are a form of relating that helps both parties understand where the other is coming from. It involves giving something while also having your needs met. It’s a type of conversation and dialogue where both parties ultimately benefit. This type of communication takes practice and patience in holding space for you and your partner to share such intimate desires. At the moment, you have the necessary language to move this sexual negotiation along quite far. As you work through these negotiations, remember — the truth is erotic. Working from that premise will help facilitate an open dialogue that can lead to some truly erotic, intimate and soul-fulfilling sexual experiences. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You are someone who values depth and unhindered honesty. You respect the truth. You are being called to bring this level of depth and straight-forward honesty to your relationships. A current situation with a partner may be challenging you in ways you had not expected. It’s pushing you to share a part of yourself that you have been scared to share in the past. Your internal world has many secret layers or hidden rooms that you rarely let others enter because of the deeply personal and vulnerable material contained there. Available at the moment is an opportunity to rewrite some very old patterns of only sharing filtered parts of yourself with partners. This is a form of intimacy, one that comes from showing up as vulnerable and honest in your relationships. Sharing yourself in this way with a partner may feel like a risk, but it’s one that is worth taking. Trust that a partner will show up and answer you with his or her own vulnerabilities and insecurities. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — This week as the Moon and Sun meet in Taurus, your astrology is indicating a burst of energy in your emotional and physical bodies. This may come with the sensation of your body and emotions working as one unit. You can also think of this in terms of balance, with both aspects of you working together in a healthy harmony. Part of working from this balanced place is listening to the signals that both parts of you are sending. Consciously know what nurtures each and build that into your daily life. At the moment, what you are accessing is a well of energy, a type of renewable power source, that you can draw on to achieve your goals. Shift and alter routines and habits to facilitate these two parts of yourself working increasingly as a cohesive unit. Once you set these new structures and patterns, it won’t take much to keep this internal energy source charged and accessible. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — You are tapping into a willingness to experiment and take new approaches to situations. It’s as though a certain rigid structure you have lived with is dissolving, leaving you with the flexibility to try a few new ideas. I suggest applying this new sense of open possibilities to an important project you’ve been working on. For a Moon sign that is used to fixed structures, having many options could feel somewhat disconcerting. I suggest following that feeling and pushing ahead out of your comfort zone. Experimentation is a process that involves testing the waters and seeing what happens, then making adjustments as a result of what you learn. Through this process of trial and error you will be able to continue to refine your project’s evolution. Keeping your options open will enable you to shift and move with the new information you learn. As you continue to work the fine edge of the options at your disposal, you will hit on the one that leads your project to the progress you want. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — You are in a moment of realization about a question you’ve been wrestling with for a while. This has to do with the nature of your internal world. At times it may have felt like you were having endless heated discussions with yourself about your place in the outer world. You’ve fought a doubt you’ve had about your ability to attain your highest goals or vision for your life. What you desired may have seemed impractical or too out of reach. I pose a question: who defines what is possible?  You have a lot more creative power than you think. Think of what you envision for your life like a piggy bank. Each time you invest time and love into where you wish to go, a penny gets added to the bank. The piggy bank won’t be full of pennies right away but, as you continue to add pennies and hold your vision, eventually you’ll have a full bank. In terms of the real world, this represents your arrival at your final destination; you are much closer than you think, so remain focused on what you want no matter now impossible it may seem. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — As someone with a Pisces Moon, you are heavily influenced by your environment. You’re a kind of psychic and emotional sponge, soaking up the energy around you. Lately, you’ve been learning quite a bit about the connection between your environment and how you feel. By environment I mean everything from who you are around to the kind of neighborhood you live in. You pick up on the energy given off by people and places.  An opening is available to make some lasting changes in terms of what is in your environment and how it provides you with grounding for a balanced and nurturing emotional state. First, start from a point of living each day in mindfulness. You can think of this as consciously observing who and what influences your energy. Then take steps to choose what surrounds you; limit your exposure to situations, surroundings and people that deplete your energy. Ultimately, you are learning to be the steward of your emotional energy as well as your environment. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus New Moon Eclipse — and Your Moonshine Horoscopes

Dear Friend and Reader:

I hope you enjoyed Beltane weekend, whether you celebrated outdoors or in, solo or with others. We’re coming up on the Taurus New Moon (Thursday) and Genevieve Hathaway has written a set of Moonshine horoscopes, which you can read here, especially for the occasion.

Planet Waves
Annular Eclipse at Sunrise. Photo by Anthony Ayiomamitis.

This New Moon is also an annular (not annual) solar eclipse in Taurus, flanked by several planets in the sign of the bull (a regular herd). This is the second of two eclipses along the Taurus-Scorpio axis, and in two weeks, we’ll have a third eclipse on the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves — this week is rather special.

In Monday’s Daily Astrology post on the Planet Waves blog, Eric discussed Thursday’s eclipse in the context of Beltane season. He’ll be taking his last look at this New Moon eclipse in tonight’s broadcast of Planet Waves FM, which usually posts by 8 pm EDT (often earlier). Eric will also investigate the astrology of the three abducted women finally rescued from the house where they had been kept by three brothers in Cleveland for about 10 years.

Today’s Daily Astrology post asks you to consider Mercury’s message as it conjoins Mars in Taurus and aspects two other planets. We’re entering a rare opening for conscious and progressive decision-making, a hot-spot of energy on the way to the eclipse vortex. At around noon EDT today Len Wallick offers his take on Venus entering Gemini Thursday morning, another landmark on our way to the eclipse.

Finally, if you are a Taurus (by Sun, Moon or rising sign) or know a Taurus, there has never been a better year to treat yourself or a loved one to the Taurus Birthday Reading Eric has recorded. This is your moment, bulls.

Yours and truly,

Amanda Painter

Scorpio Full Moon Edition

Dear Friend and Reader:

This Thursday at 3:57 pm EDT is the Scorpio Full Moon. This is the opposition of the Sun in Taurus and the Moon in Scorpio. It also happens to be a partial lunar eclipse — the first of three eclipses occurring over the next four weeks. Usually eclipses travel in pairs (one lunar and one solar) but every once in a while we get three.

Planet Waves

In today’s Moonshine horoscopes, Genevieve Hathaway has interpreted this Scorpio Full Moon partial eclipse for each of the 12 Moon signs. Your Moon sign is where the Moon was when you were born. To look it up, enter your birth data into Serennu.com. It helps to have your birth time but that’s often not necessary. You can also try reading these horoscopes for your Sun and rising signs for additional layers of insight.

The weeks between eclipses are pattern-setting phases, times when it often seems we can make quantum leaps in our lives. But to do that two things need to happen: we need to be willing to let go of outdated attachments to ideas, habits and sometimes even objects or relationships; and we need to have a sense of what we do want in our lives, and then put energy into those things. That means actually doing them — taking actions in line with what we say we want.

It doesn’t all have to happen at the moment of the eclipse. Get the ball rolling a couple of days before the event and keep the ball rolling for at least a few days afterwards. Ideally, you want to keep your intentions in view during the whole eclipse season — but not to the point of getting tunnel vision. Part of the specialness of eclipses and the weeks between them can be the synchronicities that occur. Synchronicities can only help propel you along if your field of vision is open enough to see them and recognize them, and you’re hanging loose enough to act on them.

With this week’s partial lunar eclipse on the Taurus-Scorpio axis, some of the stronger themes coloring the process of ‘letting go’ include: what you value, resources (including money), possessions and possessiveness, sex, relationships and allowing change. Taurus tends to resist change and likes to hold on to material things; Scorpio’s waters harbor transformation if we allow it, but it’s easy to feel intimidated by it.

Entering into the mystery of the unknown, instead of avoiding it out of fear, takes some discipline. We have that Thursday in the form of Saturn conjunct the Moon in Scorpio. Clinging to the status quo out of its comfortable familiarity will only block your ability to use this eclipse to move you along the path of your highest potential. If you can remember to allow resources to circulate, and can recognize the material things, values and relationships that no longer serve you and then let them go with a blessing, you’ll make room for greater health and happiness.

Genevieve Hathaway, who has prepared today’s horoscopes for you, will return to the Planet Waves blog with a Thursday morning post about the Scorpio Full Moon eclipse.

Yours and truly,

Amanda Painter

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Aries (March 20-April 19) — You have recently been questioning many previously held beliefs about who you are and what you want. At times, this may have felt chaotic, like you did not have a clear vision of “you.” This week’s powerful Scorpio Full Moon will help you move through a sort of doorway, into a space with greater clarity regarding the internal changes you’ve been working through. An idea or answer you’ve been looking for will become apparent — it’s been visible for a while, and a slight shift in perspective will help you orient on it. Think of it as one of those magic-eye puzzles. Initially when you look at the picture it’s a jumbled mix of colors and dots; shift your vision slightly and suddenly a face or image pops out in 3D. Like this puzzle, the Full Moon is bringing you an opening to shift slightly, and what seemed like chaos will now form into a cohesive aspect of yourself. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Taurus (April 19- May 20)

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — A perceived difficulty with a close partner has more to do with material you are working through than an actual problem with the relationship. Relationships are often mirrors that provide us the perspective to look back on ourselves. You are entering a fertile moment that will let you form a deeper connection with yourself and a partner. This current partnership is providing you with a reflection of your own desires and whether you are meeting those needs. I’m not talking about wanting to eat chocolate every day or change the color of your drapes, rather those core needs and desires that support the very essence of who you are. As you work through this material I suggest being careful of projections onto partners; instead, involve the person in an open dialogue about what you are working through. Holding space open for yourself to heal and another person to walk this journey with you will help strengthen your relationship. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Hello Taurus! Your 2013 Birthday Reading will be ready soon. Two eclipses are coming up on the Taurus-Scorpio axis: this week’s partial lunar eclipse, and then a Taurus New Moon solar eclipse in two weeks (the third eclipse this season runs through different signs). This is making for a potent birthday season for you, packed with potential. Also, Saturn in your opposite sign may feel challenging, but can ultimately be a useful tool if you learn how to work with it. I’ll be covering these major influences and more in a two-part astrology reading about an hour in length, plus a special tarot reading using the Voyager Tarot by James Wanless. You can pre-order your birthday reading here for just $19.95 and we’ll email your access info to you once it is ready.

Gemini (May 20- June 21)

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — With so many powerful planets lately moving through the area of your chart that covers community and your network, at times it may have felt more like you were moving through rites of passage than building a community. Those in your network challenged you in new ways; particularly your method of selecting who’s included in this community. As you continue to reshape your network, apply extra time and energy to communicate what you need to express. At the moment, you are particularly adept at communicating your thoughts and feelings — balancing an approach that applies the appropriate amount of self-confidence along with plenty of empathy. Take the time to have any important conversations, initiating rather than sitting back and waiting for changes to occur on their own. As you take ownership over the process of building your community and network, it will become clear how much support you have. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Cancer (June 21- July 22)

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Over the Scorpio Full Moon, an idea you’ve had for a while is ripe to be shared with the larger world. You’ve sat with this idea internally for some time, crafting and reworking it. Trust that you have the resources at your disposal and the traction to move your idea from your internal space into the physical world. In essence, it’s about trusting your own creative process to be your best resource. Creating something involves a willingness to try new things and the discipline to continually devote the right amount of time and energy to completing the project. Experimentation is part of the process. So is understanding the details of the environment in which you’re working. As you share the final product with a larger audience, notice the sensations you experience. Deep satisfaction is a clue that what you are doing is in line with your soul. You can also think of this as doing work that is meaningful to you. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Leo (July 22- Aug. 23)

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — An opportunity is arising for you to make what may feel like a bold career move. You may feel pulled in two directions — between taking that step or staying with what is tried and true. What may feel like two competing ways of approaching a situation is actually part of the same system. Bold and daring projects or decisions need to have a strong, grounded platform to be based on. You can think of this as hedging your bets when you take a risk by doing your homework, working through many possible outcomes, and having contingency plans. I suggest using feelings of caution not as an excuse not to take the leap, but rather as a form of traction to help you prepare and plan. Having a full understanding of the situation and resources at your disposal will help maintain flexibility to move with the quickly changing career situation. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Virgo (Aug. 23- Sep. 22)

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Lately, an agreement you’ve been negotiating may have felt particularly chaotic or confusing. Communication that normally would be clear seemed to go awry. You have many tools in the form of language to clear up the arrangement. This will call for a mix of precision in what you say, at the same time allowing for misunderstanding as others try to get clear. Clarify the grey areas in your own thinking, and know what you’re saying and feeling as you guide others. Working from a clear place will help others do the same. Don’t skip steps or leave out what you know is vital information — that could lead to further miscommunication and confusing agreements. Proceed in small, concrete steps, rather than trying to rush communication to resolve the chaos. This approach will help you make significant progress in straightening out misperceptions. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Libra (Sep. 22 - Oct. 23)

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Over the Scorpio Full Moon, emotions may be increasingly intense and strong. Like a glacial river running deep under the ice, when the ice melts all that water is brought to the surface or exposed. This powerful Full Moon is moving you through a warming period, melting the metaphorical ice to expose more of your emotional body. I suggest not getting distracted by thoughts that you’re becoming too emotional or too sensitive; instead dive into your new internal depths. On offer is a chance to explore a part of your emotional body that you have not previously had access to. Feel your way through the territory, perceiving with all of your senses. As you get to know these emotional layers I suggest considering the role they play in your emotional-resources tool belt. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Scorpio (Oct. 23- Nov. 22)

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — As a high-energy Full Moon takes place in your Moon sign, the astrology is highlighting your relationships and how you approach them. For you, relationships strike an emotionally satisfying note when there is a strong element of stability and emotional support. This may at times feel like you are trying to control the dynamic, when in reality you’re looking for a steady platform to support your deepest, most vulnerable self. Over the Full Moon, a close partner is holding space for you to continue building greater intimacy through honest conversation. Resist the urge to control any aspect of your relationship or the discussion. Give yourself and your partner the grace to explore and grow through these conversations. Ultimately, what is available is the greater support you seek — trust that a partner will meet that need.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 22)

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Over the Scorpio Full Moon, you may experience the sensation of being pulled between having to invest time and energy into either your emotional health or your physical health. In fact the opposite is true: when you invest in one aspect of your health, the other benefits as well. You are in the process of gaining a new understanding of how to be the custodian of your inner world and your physical body. Maintaining balance between inward sustenance and outward flow, you will have plenty for yourself and plenty to give. Tend and manage your process of tapping these resources. This stewardship will be important as the intensity and speed with which life moves and changes continues to increase exponentially. Stewardship of your emotional and physical bodies is an active, conscious process — you can also think of it as a method of loving yourself. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Capricorn (Dec. 22- Jan. 20)

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — At the moment, you are being invited to take an emotional risk on a community or group you are a part of. You are used to being your own emotional support network, yet this has only gotten you so far in meeting your needs. Having people around you who can hold space and nurture your emotional needs is also important for you. You have more support in your network than you may think. An opportunity is forming for you to be emotionally vulnerable with those around you, though it may feel more bold and daring. Taking this kind of leap doesn’t actually involve much of a jump; rather hold space for others to meet your genuine self. This requires both openness and honesty. Think of this as asking for the support you need and providing those around you the opportunity to show up and give that. In the process, you will notice how deep the roots of your network go in supporting who you are. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aquarius (Jan. 20- Feb. 19)

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — As you move through this week’s Scorpio Full Moon, you are working through a point of tension as though you are being pulled between following what fulfills you on an emotional level and working out the detailed steps of how you get from point A to point B. One question you’re encountering is what information was kept from you, or that you did not see, that caused an exaggerated sense of inner complexity or confusion. Going beyond this means getting out of your head and seeing the world around you, or the larger pattern of your life as you actually live it. Allow your experiences to reveal your motivations and point to how you got them. You’ll make many discoveries as you learn to do this. I’m talking about a conscious investigation or exploration. This process will help you discern what you were taught versus what you learned on your own. In turn, you will notice what you’ve outgrown and what is outdated. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Pisces (Feb. 19- March 20)

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You’re working through what may initially appear as a point of tension between an old and new viewpoint. I suggest thinking of this less as something wrong, and more as an opportunity or opening to cover a lot of ground in reworking a particular belief. Our beliefs can have a lot of power to shape how we experience existence. Imagine the viewpoint you hold as the filter and the lens is the experience of being you. Imagine that the experience of being you is a lens on a camera, and the viewpoint you hold is a filter on that lens. Just like changing filters on a camera lens to get a different color or effect, when you slip on the filter of your viewpoint, how you see through that lens changes. A situation at the moment is giving you a push to re-examine the filters you use. Despite what at times may feel like set patterns, the filter you use is one you can shape, mold, create and choose. — by Genevieve Hathaway

Aries New Moon and Moonshine Horoscopes

Dear Friend and Reader:

Wednesday is the Aries New Moon, in a conjunction with Venus, Mars and Eris. This is a big event — a significant turning point, especially in relationships. We have a diversity of coverage for you today, including the Moonshine horoscope. Eric will also have Planet Waves FM for you later today, which will cover the New Moon, the North Korea situation and Maggie Thatcher.

Unlike most New Moons, which tend to emphasize a sense of winding down and completion, the lead-up to this one feels more like it’s building up to a point of release — thanks to a potent grouping of personal planets in Aries.

Eris is the centerpiece of the grouping. As a result, this lunar event is a ‘proving moment’ for Eris; it’s an opportunity to watch the themes that emerge and see what they tell us about this planet whose discovery resulted in Pluto’s reclassification.

Genevieve Hathaway introduced the Aries New Moon in Monday’s blog post. Eric and I have expanded the coverage with today’s Daily Astrology, which explores even deeper the presence of Eris in this New Moon event.

Genevieve has also written a sign-by-sign interpretation of the Aries New Moon in her Moonshine Horoscope, available here.

Finally, Eric will be back later this evening with a new Planet Waves FM broadcast.

Yours and truly,

Amanda Painter
