Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2018

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for January 2018, #1181 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Freedom and discipline go hand in hand. That will be a happy discovery for you, as you embark upon a momentous phase of your vocation in the coming seasons. Note that I did not say career or profession. A vocation can become those things, though it starts someplace else: with a calling. It’s a calling so deep it could be considered spiritual, or one’s true dharma; and the fulfillment of the purpose is more important than success. This will take everything you’ve got, and you’re ready to offer that up. You will need to address any authority issues you have, whether they involve being responsive to others in power or wielding your own. This will be an ongoing process that will largely entail internalizing your sense of responsibility. You will need to work with time, which means pacing yourself; neither being in a big hurry nor willing to wait forever. You’ll need to have faith in yourself, and to persevere, in times when you’re doubting your mission or when things don’t seem to be going well. At the heart of your life plan must be some concept of home. That’s the most dependable way to provide grounding not just for your success but also a place where you can rest and connect with others. Just remember, all true collaboration depends on intimacy, and is fed by passion. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“One’s relationship to change is the underlying reality that determines how one handles transits. This relationship counts for a lot now, and you would be wise to bring it to full awareness. What you’re currently experiencing is the culmination of six years of nonstop and ever-increasing energy. All of that has been excellent preparation. Now, you’re experiencing the actual threshold, the invocation of your new life.”

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Integrity is the very essence of your nature, and you possess a keen awareness of right and wrong. You’ve also figured out by now that you must bring your flexibility into every situation. Nothing is carved in stone or set in concrete, especially where your personal ethics are concerned. You can afford to evaluate every situation on its own merits. You’ve learned many times that this is better than having inflexible rules, though you might say that strict adherence to the law is a kind of temptation for you. However, you can now look at the world with fresh eyes, which also includes taking a more benevolent view of your own past. You don’t need to judge yourself or anyone, nor does whether you agree with something or not need to be your standard of reality. You are bigger than nearly all that you perceive. You’re bigger than your parents, your family, and anyone who has held authority over you. If you keep an open mind, and set orthodoxy aside, these next few years of your life will provide you with some beautiful and original opportunities to learn about yourself and the world. Regarding the question of scale, what you may figure out is that you’re bigger than all you survey. This is a temporary state of affairs; it’s a useful perspective to take, for the time being. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You possess actual creativity, actual devotion and a strong tendency to be ethical. If you don’t let fear contaminate your mind, you will be able to connect these things in the form of your true vocation. If you are involved in what you consider to be your true vocation, you will have opportunities to go deeper and to bring in something that has the power to change you and change the world around you. That’s the mark of truth: it’s alive, it’s active, it’s provocative, and it compels you to establish an ongoing relationship with it.”

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You’ve just been through one of the most — what’s the word? Ridiculous? Exciting? Challenging? — phases of your life, and whatever that was, whatever you’ve been through, is over. Time has given rise to something else, as if you’ve been transported to another dimension of your own existence. I don’t think this will be subtle, though it’s possible to live in the past. If you’re living in the present, you will see that the nature of your commitments has evolved into something more tangible, even solid. This will facilitate the building of relationships and associations of all kinds, whether their purpose is making home, making money or making love. It’s likely that you’ve been so enamored of your need for freedom that you missed the privileges that come with having a stable structure around you. However, when you feel commitment coming from inside you, rather than something you feel is imposed on you, you’ll appreciate its beauty. It will be helpful if you’re less enamored of an abstract concept of your freedom and refine that into something you can actually express. You may need to be specific; for example, decide consciously whether you want a relationship to be live-in or not; monogamous or not; financially intertwined or not. Determine the role you want to play in any business partnership, and know the places where you’re flexible or open to compromise. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“The two most significant aspects of life — love, and work — are coming in at full strength at the moment. You’re in a moment unlike any other you’ve lived through, at least speaking from the viewpoint of your astrology. It’s all so much that you might not be so thrilled; you may not see the opportunities in the wild mash-up of factors that are influencing your life. To begin with, I am here to remind you that you’re larger than it all.”

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Saturn has entered your solar 7th house of relationships, the sign Capricorn. The most recent time this occurred was 29 years ago, perhaps before you were born. It’s entered Capricorn along with an impressive collection of other planets. The upshot is that where you may have felt like you were living on the frontier, you will now be joined by settlers, who might become colonists. Remember, though, that the spirit of a pioneer is different from that of someone who wants to build a town. You would benefit from those possessing both qualities: those who are undaunted by new territory, and who also want to build something familiar. Saturn’s three-year run through your relationship house will help you clear unnecessary or outmoded relationships, and it will help you develop something entirely new. For many long years, you’ve been deconstructing the rules and traditions that have not served your sensitive and original nature. This has not been easy. Remember that you still have some ground to cover there; and meanwhile, it would be helpful to remove some of the debris that’s been left behind from your various demolition projects. Beware of old ideas, ungrounded expectations, the fear of abandonment and jealousy. The more you give language to these feelings, the easier they will be to work through in a conscious and loving way: the way of the lover. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You are the kind of person who must become your intentions and give everything all you’ve got. You feel better when you do this, even if you’re having to stretch a little. Being half-hearted does not suit you. You are a whole-hearted person, you want to feel that fully, and you want to be appreciated for what you do. This is the essence of self-esteem and it’s currently one of the most basic elements of your astrology.”

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read here. Eric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — It’s essential that you balance work and wellbeing. You’re one of the hardest-working people you know, and one of the most willing to sacrifice your personal needs and your health for the sake of getting the job done. However, it’s time to live under less Spartan conditions. You still have plenty to accomplish, yet taking care of your body and your mind must come first. One way you can maintain a balance is by learning something that I’ve seen is rather difficult for those born under your sign: how to delegate work. In doing this, you might follow a simple rule. Only assign tasks to those who do them better than you do. This might take a little time to find, though you need to have total trust when you let go of a task. And that would be worth seeking over time and, if need be, waiting for. In any event, collaboration is an art form. This skill will be worth developing. How you structure your time is also vitally important. You must see time as your ally, and use well the time you have. Think in terms of efficiency, making actual decisions about what is and is not necessary, and how much energy certain projects or goals deserve. Yet the first of these must be structuring a life in such a way that you can take care of yourself. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“The more you take a proactive and creative role, the less it will feel like changes are happening to you and the more it will feel like you are working with the incoming forces to create the change that you want. Therefore, pay close attention to just what that is: know what you want to change. I suggest you work with two lists: what you want to resolve or eliminate, and what you want to create. Both will happen as part of the same process.”

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read here. Eric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You simply must keep a positive attitude, because you have so much to live for. What’s changing the most rapidly is your approach to your work. You’ve made great strides on this self-improvement project, and now you’re ready for another step: doing everything you do with the passion of an artist. There are those people who would do their work for free (and many who do) only because they love its purpose so much. Whatever job you may have, this is not a thing of the future. Before you get to the “do what you love” phase, you must go through the “love what you do” phase, whatever that thing is. This will cultivate the state of mind that emphasizes both quality, and your recognition that you exist in a network of people who are, ideally, all working toward the same end. Part of your work is the task itself; yet equally important is your influence on your coworkers, colleagues, clients and people in leadership. Whatever you may do, your primary purpose is dharma: acting as if to hold the world together. The “as if” part is important because it takes pressure off of you. You’re not actually responsible for holding the world together; you just have to make every decision on that basis. One last hint: the past weighs on you far less than you may think. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You could say that apart from all the psychological concepts attached to self-esteem, the experience you’re looking for is feeling good about who you are. This is a feeling, not a concept. Rather than strive for the feeling, the thing to do is give yourself the experiences that you want; the experiences that will enrich you and help you develop into your personhood. To feel good about yourself, it’s vital that you know how to express who you are, and what you feel.”

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Many factors in your chart point to grounding: in your home, in your feelings, in your body and in your local community. This follows a phase of being somewhat all over the place, both mentally and physically. You’re now able to focus your mind, as if you’ve just woken up from many days of feverish dreams and could suddenly speak and think clearly. For the foreseeable future, your primary task is to strengthen your foundations. This could pertain equally to home, family and the most personal aspects of your career. Take tangible steps every day to organize your physical space, and your emotional space will follow. Saturn moving through your 4th solar house is about clearing out the clutter, such that you can see the walls and floors of the basement and make any necessary repairs. When cleaning a closet, empty it out entirely first. You will find, through this process, that you need far less than you think; and, further, that you will place a greater value on what you choose to keep. Finally, there’s the matter of your relationship to your family. You’ve reached a point where you must handle this consciously, and not allow anyone to make assumptions or presumptions about you. If you want more space to yourself, and you feel guilty about that, count this as proof that your desires are correct. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Your workplace must be not just habitable but truly supportive. You simply must like the place where you work, or you risk your mental and emotional health. Others can get by with jobs they hate, or substandard working environments; you cannot. Therefore, invest the time and energy that you need to have a place of work that supports your creativity, your health and your wellbeing.”

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You have the perfect blend of drive and discipline going for you now. Take advantage of this and get your year started off right. Just be aware of one thing: you cannot content yourself with being little. You are past being willing, or able, to make yourself small for the sake of others. Your role is not to bow to their insecurities, nor to worry about how they’re supposed to handle someone who wants to live fully, and strives to do so. As you do this, you may notice the extent to which people seem determined to shrink themselves, to diminish their goals and talents, or to thrive on boredom (which is really a mask over anger). You may feel pressure from peers to conform to this odd way of living. Don’t waste your time wondering whether you can, or whether this is the right thing. And while you may feel the lure of analyzing why people choose to live this way, you would be better served to ask yourself why you ever did. There’s a fear running loose that when we connect with our desire, passion, love or sex drive, that we’re going to go out of control. After all, society could possibly not handle everyone being in contact with their power, living honestly. But here’s the question. How would anyone even know? For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You must gather with people who share common values with you. You can no longer afford to invest your precious time and psychic energy with people who do not embody the highest vibration of what you desire, and know to be true. You will feel better about yourself when you can speak openly about what you value the most, and spend time with those who share your spiritual goals and your purpose for living.”

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Taking care of your finances will get you a long way in life. The time has arrived: whatever you may want to accomplish, being grounded, realistic, and resourceful will be your vehicle for doing it. Money flows toward structure, and you need to build that gently around yourself. Start with full awareness of your income, your expenses, your debts, and your needs for future growth. Then, use your skills or get help to build a model you can live in. One way to work is to make long- and medium-range plans for development projects. It’s vitally important, in our current version of the world, that you phase out obsolete equipment and phase in the fully serviceable gear you need to get your work done. This is a matter of planning. Keep all your options open for how to do this — and remember, the world is awash with gear that nobody is using. Take leadership, learn how to pool resources, and get that process going. Remember that your most valuable asset is your talent: what you can do and, in particular, what you alone can do. Set a higher price on that than you ever have; at the same time, you must be bold about demonstrating and even proving your abilities before expecting people to pay. You have the abilities and the discipline to make this happen. And it’ll be worth it, too. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“To succeed, your work plan must have metes and bounds. You must choose the specific things you need to accomplish within a specific timeframe, and these choices must be prioritized. This does not mean that you will follow your plans exactly, and you’ll very likely alter your priorities as you proceed. Yet it’s essential to start with some organized scheme, so that you have an overview, and you have a first draft to revise.”

— Linsey

Dear Friend and Reader:

Tuesday night, your ruling planet Saturn entered your sign. Some people fear Saturn; but for you its arrival so close to the solstice is a blessing from the cosmos.

If you’re someone with a Capricorn Sun, rising sign or Moon, Saturn in your sign the next three years is a reminder that if you set a goal and are willing to work toward it, nothing is out of reach. It can be hard to feel that way in this day and age, but now you have a powerful ally in your corner.

Planet Waves

One of your most meaningful tasks for the coming four seasons is defining yourself in a way that’s not dependent upon tribal identity. How exactly do you do that? Eric will be covering that — along with the opportunities, challenges and essential mission of Saturn in your sign — in your 2018 Capricorn Birthday Reading.

He’ll also cover 2018’s other major planetary sign changes in your reading (Uranus into Taurus, your zone of play and creative risk-taking; and Chiron into Aries, your zone of home and the emotional landscape) — plus additional aspects throughout (and beyond) the year that add nuance and offer creative opportunity.

Eric crafts these readings with the best of his life-coaching, cheerleading and problem-solving skills; the sensitivity of his therapy training; his uncanny knack to help you see challenges from a more empowering perspective; and with the kind of everyday, practical inspiration you can use immediately.

P.S. The 2018 Capricorn Birthday Reading is distinctly different from the Capricorn written reading available in the upcoming Art of Becoming annual project. It covers your key astrology in a different format and emphasis, capitalizing on Eric’s more intuitive, improvisational skills. The Birthday Reading also makes a fantastic gift for a loved one!

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Saturn’s return to your birth sign describes a sense of completeness you have not felt for a very long time, if ever. Take a moment to collect yourself: a week or two of reflecting on your goals and preparing your mind; and get ready to face the challenges you’ve been avoiding. You now have the perspective and the strength to step up to your life as a full participant. To this task, you will bring all of your resources. You can no longer hide or camouflage yourself. It’s no longer viable to live in a state of limbo, or suspended animation around your commitments — and it never really was. You can no longer disappear, from your own life or anyone else’s. Practicality must take precedence over ideology. What is right is what works for you and for the people you associate with. Perhaps your most daunting challenge is taking responsibility for communication. You are the person who must guide that process, and strive for clarity on behalf of everyone. You can no longer blame people for what you don’t understand, particularly if you have questions you haven’t asked or sought answers to, or if you’ve ignored available information. Commitment means commitment to yourself; and if you’re able to do that, you’ll notice that you come through for others because you want to live up to your own potential. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You are someone who is more connected to the wider flow of the human experience than you might otherwise be. Even if you’re not an official leader, or into politics, you are connected (often rather consciously) to aspects of life that extend far beyond yourself. This connection sometimes comes bursting into your life when you’re not vaguely interested. Sometimes you feel it as a direct calling, and you may or may not know what to do with that.”

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read here. Eric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — The concept of an inner life is elusive to most people. By inner life, I mean the world that you contain, your conscious growth process, and your relationship to your past. How this could elude anyone, I don’t know; but it seems to, in the same way people’s dreams deliver them messages that seem cryptic or incomprehensible and, therefore, not even worth thinking much about. The combination of Venus, the Sun and Saturn entering your adjoining sign Capricorn is about you awakening to who you are inside. Here’s the thing. Doing this involves encountering what psychologists describe as shadow material. That might include your fears, your regrets, and emotions on the embarrassment-guilt-shame spectrum. One’s inner life also includes one’s deepest desires, especially including what the Vedic astrologers call “the pleasures of the bed” — one’s secret fantasies and most profound needs, which are both erotic and emotional. The supposed reward for avoiding awareness of your inner life is the convenience of not having to address any of these things. The actual reward for entering and fully embracing your inner life is being a whole person. Your capacity for intimacy will deepen. Through understanding yourself and your motives, you will be more curious about the inner lives of those you care about. Yet this will also have a way of filtering out superficial relationships. You just won’t be interested. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Within the morphogenetic fields of your sign is an inbred rebelliousness of mind. This comes with the refusal to accept patterns imposed by others; the capacity to hybridize one’s views and have original positions on social and political issues; which in turn leads to a kind of eccentricity that is very much a quality of your nature. So too is a distinct inventiveness, if you can keep your mind awake, alert and young.”

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read here. Eric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — The time has arrived to reap the rewards of your success. You’ve done much to establish yourself in recent years, and have risen to the occasion of many challenges. It’s now time to collect. That doesn’t mean resting on your laurels, but rather focusing less on aspiration and more on connecting your efforts to direct benefits. From the look of your solar chart, those might come in many different forms, financial gain being one of them. Some rewards might arrive in the form of increased social and professional standing, which grant you privileges you’ve never had before. You’re due for a time dividend, which means the benefit of time that is your own, like profits delivered after all taxes have been paid. The key to this will be designing your life structure, and then honoring it. It’ll be easier than during many recent seasons, when the emphasis has been on success-at-all-costs Saturn in Sagittarius. The posture to assume at this stage of your life, described by Saturn in Capricorn, is a calm confidence: somewhat reserved, but standing firmly in your self-assurance. People will notice how much experience you have, and will likely be somewhat daunted by it. You can humanize this by being willing to help as you can, whenever someone needs you. Demonstrate going from vision to action with no need to check in with any authority higher than yourself. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“After many adventures, misadventures, developments, challenges and crises, you’ve integrated the many seemingly separate facets of who you were into someone who you now most distinctly are. I suggest you make a study of this gradual transformation that’s taken over your life, and which is nearly complete. Feel the ways in which you’ve worked out problems that seemed to have no solution. Notice how your confidence level has increased.”

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for December 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for December 2017, #1177 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Saturn enters your house of professional advancement this month, which is the thing you need if you want to succeed at something meaningful. This is in the top tier of transits that can advance your cause, or that of the world. Saturn, which tends to describe worldly affairs, enters Capricorn, the solar 10th house of Aries, typically associated with fame, notoriety and success. Yet this never happens by itself. One must do the 10th-house work of developing a solid reputation, especially where Capricorn is concerned. You will need more traditional means than the website, app and Instagram feed. It will be essential to understand the difference between a solid achievement and a little flash of success. You’ve likely done plenty the past 10 years that qualifies, though in any event now is the time to get moving. The emphasis must indeed be on building: relationships, organization, work habits, and — most significantly — purpose. Saturn says work with time, including the past. You’re likely to have abandoned many past accomplishments, perhaps deeming them unrelated to what you currently want. However, you must work with all your skills, particularly now. There’s one last ingredient that will come up, one way or another: the whole issue of authority. You must be your own self-regulated individual, and also know your place in every pecking order. From there, you can move around. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Self-awareness, both of your thoughts and of your conduct, is your most powerful tool to influence your experience of growth into the new forms that you are. This includes reaching deep enough into yourself that you make some contact with the aspect of you that is timeless and changeless.”

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read hereEric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your need to understand and fully embody your relationships is at a peak. I can see this from planets gathering in your opposite sign Scorpio, which is one place to gather such information (for Taurus). You’re in a position to benefit from your encounters with others; there would seem to be plenty of mutual desire in your environment; there may be more than one relationship or suitor that has your attention. And the presence of Vesta, an unusual, meaningful asteroid, is saying: nothing is quite normal, as if events and your relationship plane exist on different levels of reality. The question of service is essential: how you and partners serve one another, and more significantly, how you serve something larger. Your relationships are not romances. They are experiences that call for grounding in purpose, which means going beyond fulfillment, fun times and self-improvement. Those are a basic foundation, on the level of rest and good food. You are beginning to rise above your foundations when your encounters with others are devoted to a greater purpose. That might mean working to provide a resource, a place of refuge, or a reservoir of wisdom and meaning — whether for your immediate community of friends or the wider world. Wisdom and meaning are the kinds of things people tend to run from. You take your life more seriously than that. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“There is a genuine skill in creative mastery that involves standing back from judging what you’ve created. You might listen to what other people say; you might work until what you’re doing feels good; you might take a swashbuckling attitude and not care; you might trust the fact that you always strive to do better (or any of these at the right moment).”

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — It’s time to slow down and be more meticulous. I suggest you do that right at the point where things fall apart or seem to go out of control, which may be an ongoing situation. That’s the thing. Life is pushing nearly everyone beyond their limits, and there are few examples of what I would call personal restraint. It’s too easy to delete anything we don’t want to deal with; until, of course, it starts to add up as karma. It’s easy to bob and weave around personal accountability, until you realize that you’re lonely, and make the connection. It’s really easy to avoid actually being vulnerable, and that always comes at a cost. So — it’s time to slow down the movie. It’s time to think about everything in terms of the results that it’s likely to yield, and to be ready to work with (or deal with) those results. This primarily involves two areas of your life: anywhere sex enters, and anywhere money enters. Both call for an internal audit, and for the creation of an ongoing paper trail so that you can look back, in the near future, and assess your progress. You will benefit from such concepts as a long-term approach, the making of incremental progress, and daily devotion. Where do you start? Pick the easiest thing, or the most difficult, and tackle that first. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You’re the one who has to negotiate between your potential and what you do with it. This is an active, everyday challenge being a Gemini. The world can seem so much bigger than you are, and in one way it is — but your mind is the thing that encompasses the world, all the world’s people and all your experiences there.”

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read hereEric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — It’s been strange having Pluto in your relationship house for nearly 10 years. In the astrological technique I use to write this column, one’s opposite sign is the first place to look for information about relationships, and you have Capricorn looking right back at you. That leads to a somewhat formal and structured approach to relating; you’re probably one of the people who think society is severely lacking something for the absence of courtship rituals. Pluto has run roughshod through Capricorn, dismantling your old concepts, presenting people in your life who might seem remote, or intense, or who cannot handle their own power. Saturn’s presence in your relationship angle, beginning just before the solstice and lasting a bit under three years, will cool things off for you. You will have an ongoing opportunity to clear out old karma, make repairs and evaluate your real desires and needs. You might decide that current partners, or your way of relating to them, are not up to what you really need. At a certain point you will have to stop compromising. Start with establishing a level of communication that you need, and do everything in your power to hold your own standard. This will begin a process of coming to terms with this thing we call “the other,” which is on one level an extension of yourself, and on another, a guest you invite to dinner. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Notice your true feelings for people and make peace with the fact that you feel that way. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The whole concept of work is largely misunderstood, and it would be fair to say that upcoming transits will bring you to a deep level of understanding. Work is variously presented as a necessary evil; as a burden; as the conversion of time and labor into money (yours, or someone else’s); as duty; and as mere activity (that, particularly lately; working is keeping busy no matter how unproductive). Work is rarely presented, or experienced, as something meaningful and relevant. It’s rarely presented as something satisfying, and which makes a contribution. Powerful forces have been operating in your life, helping you dismantle your old ideas of work (meaning what was given to you by various ancestors and other authority figures). Now you get to start putting something together that you can live with, grow with, and develop into something beautiful. There’s just one cost: to have meaningful work, you must give yourself to it. There’s an element of submission to the task that must be completed, and to the larger purpose involved. This is about true commitment, which moves you from within. You must want it more than a good time, or being liked, or being social. Most of all, it’s essential that you be following a calling of some kind. That might be about your own mission, or joining with someone in their mission: positive results require both approaches. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Rather than thinking of yourself as the entity that holds all the planets in orbit, think of yourself as someone who grounds the Sun into the Earth. This is actually what you do in the physical and spiritual sense, and it grants you some relief from the much larger responsibility of providing all the power and all the gravity.”

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — One way to understand your sign is the metaphor of a child carrying the groceries. Virgos tend to be given too much responsibility too young; or maybe there’s something about you that takes life seriously and has from a very young age, and knows that you must do your bit. The advantage of this is that you will tend to grow younger, particularly in your desire to have fun. You might spend your lifetime claiming elements of your childhood, and bringing them to your daily experience of life. What children understand better than adults is the idea of serious fun. Usually adults have to learn this, through developing their talents. Music, painting, drawing, building things, writing — these are all serious fun, and they all require an investment. Playing guitar scales is not fun, at first. Writing is tedious and requires meticulous attention to detail. Then once you can do it, even a little, it’s an amazing experience. Saturn entering your 5th house of fun, pleasure, play, playful sex and art, is an invitation for you to embark on a journey like this. You’ve probably got several partially developed skills that you still feel called to do. Or you may be a master at something and feel like you just want to have more fun doing it. If you play first violin for the New York Philharmonic, it’s time to buy a fiddle and join a jug band. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“There comes that time in any growth or improvement project where you have to ease back, have a glass of wine or even smoke a cigarette. Radical, I know. However, you’re at a stage of your life where you must follow your own rules, and to do that, your rules must be practical and workable.”

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Self-esteem is among the most critical problems in our society. Once a person has enough to eat, a dry roof, and is not debilitated by illness, self-esteem is the usual issue. It manifests countless ways. For Libra, one place we look for information is the sign immediately after yours, Scorpio (this will work for any sign). Scorpio is the constantly simmering, sometimes seething, pot of transformation. Its work is never done, and there would seem to be no solid ground. It may be difficult to orient yourself on the matter of how to feel good about yourself; where, exactly, to place the locus of your self-respect. Your astrology has some suggestions. What makes you feel good? What do you want the most? What is interesting to you? Follow your inner attractions and navigate to your inner being who is turned on by existence. Some of the things you like might not be considered acceptable or appropriate by others. Some might seem excessive. You might revel in a kind of ambiguity that’s essential to giving up one form and emerging as another. To really feel good about yourself, ride this process of dissolving and recreating yourself, and feel the pleasure of doing so. You’re not a static entity. You have the power to be compatible with nearly anything or anyone — almost at any time. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Rather than being a clear mirror, relationships can often feel like a house of smoke and mirrors. This is especially a concern due to the experience of projection: ascribing to others feelings that are actually your own. Anais Nin is credited with saying, ‘We don’t see things as they are. We see them as we are.'”

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Every factor in your life is guiding you in the direction of what is tangible: what is physically real, what you can touch, what you can hold, where you can put your feet and what you can actually do. It’s also true that big ideas are inspiring you, and though they always have, you’re seeing bigger possibilities. Most people, however, let the possibilities dance around in their head like sugar plum fairies. It’s time for you to take action making real the experiences and achievements that you want. We could identify numerous individual factors that all say the same thing: that it’s time to bring your mind and your body to what you want to do, and what you want to become. This is not merely for the sake of activity. You are in a position where every cell in your body is calling out for you to find yourself. You have always craved meaningful activity, meaningful work, and a life where you bring yourself into what you do and want to be present all the time. Many will say there’s more to life than work, yet you are unlikely to hear someone whose contributions you value the most ever make that statement. Your solar chart describes a person learning to focus their mind; to focus their language; and wanting to bring meaning and beauty into all that you do. Cheers to that. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“The self-esteem theme, described by the union of your 1st and 2nd houses, is the claiming back of your natural desire as a birthright. If you are in doubt about what you want, or if you consider it a potential moral affront, it’s difficult to feel good about yourself. For you, taking possession of desire is integral to your respect of yourself.”

Sagittarius Birthdays 2017-18:
How Will You Apply What You’ve Learned?

Your reading has given direction and meaning on how to proceed, to learn and move forward in these difficult, unsettling times and at the same time, inspiring me to tap into limitless creative gifts. Thank you, Eric; from my heart to your heart.”

— Ann Cortese, B.S., M.P.S.

Dear Friend and Reader:

Undoubtedly you’ve experienced quite a process of maturation these last three years or so, as you’ve responded to the need to bring real discipline to each way in which you express yourself in the world. With all hell seeming to break loose lately, it’s possible this has been a painful or scary process for you.

Planet Waves

Yet perhaps you’ve felt more solid within yourself than ever before — and if you haven’t, you still can.

In the coming months, the major force behind that growth process will shift: Saturn leaves your sign next month and enters Capricorn. You’ll get to take all the lessons you’ve recently learned and apply them in increasingly tangible ways to everything that matters most to you. This includes that most precious of all commodities in today’s world: your self-esteem.

Then, early next spring, Chiron — raiser of awareness and magnifier of healing potential — moves into your fellow fire sign Aries. Aries is your zone of play, creativity, adventurous risk, sex for fun and more.

Being someone with their Sun, rising sign or Moon in Sagittarius, you might feel like you have playful creativity already well covered. But what if it could be even better — more fun, less guilt or baggage, more fulfilling?

Eric will be exploring the moves of Saturn, Chiron and more (including Uranus entering Taurus) in your 2017-18 Sagittarius Birthday Reading.

Comprising two astrology segments of at least 30 minutes each plus a tarot reading for your year, you can pre-order it now for the lowest price we offer: only $33 for the whole thing. All portions of the reading are recorded in studio-quality audio, and can be downloaded to your favorite device so you can listen as many times as you like throughout the year.

Note that the price of the reading will increase as publication approaches, and then again after it’s been released. Planet Waves does not do Black Friday gimmicks, but we do reward you with the best price when you sign on early.

You get some of the clearest, most nuanced and jargon-free personal astrology available on the internet. Eric crafts these readings with the best of his life-coaching, cheerleading and problem-solving skills; the sensitivity of his therapy training; his uncanny knack to help you see challenges from a more empowering perspective; and with the kind of everyday, practical inspiration you can use immediately.

What more do you need to steer your life through the end of 2017 and into a new year?

Yours & truly,

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — After nearly three years, Saturn is going to leave your sign this month. But not before it finishes its one contact to the Galactic Core in 30 years. We have with this image, or metaphor, one of the most tangible factors in all of astrology (Saturn, which builds, structures and regulates our perception of time) making contact with one of the most intangible (the Galactic Core, a spiritual homing signal). This is describing you bringing something into existence, based on what might feel like inspiration so subtle you cannot feel it. Alternately, you may feel cut off from your usual sense of inspiration and adventure: this depends on whether you consider Saturn a friend. You are a driven and inspired person. Your vision for life far exceeds what expectations others might offer you. You knew more than your guidance counselor and probably a lot more than your parents. Saturn in one’s sign is always about fundamentally coming to terms with who you are. For you, that means the past few years have been about fully claiming your vision, your values and your right to be the person you are: the one who sees the world as different from how it currently is. Saturn will move on to Capricorn, lifting some pressure from you, and having given you something that nothing else can. Remember what you have learned, and who you are becoming. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“The overwhelming message of this series of South Node eclipses is that you must get beyond your own past, and find the present. Finding the present means sorting out your emotional reality to the point where you understand what happened, and what it means – and use it as a source of strength rather than of weakness.”

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — If you read astrology textbooks, you will not find many commentaries on signs where Saturn is supposed to have a positive expression. It is, however, the planet that rules your sign. You must cultivate a conscious and hopefully positive relationship with all that it represents. And while people do tend to have issues with authority (often a Saturn factor), you are at least aware that this is something you must address consciously. On Dec. 19, Saturn will enter your sign for the first time since the late 1980s. This begins an actual era of your life: a formative time; a time of transition, and of drawing out some of your deepest and most beautiful qualities. Get ready for that: what you contain, what is latent, what is lurking in potential, and what you simply must evolve into: you will be hearing from all of these things. There will be a peeling back and unearthing. Your life may at times feel like an archaeological dig. At other times you will feel like a potter in the studio, sculpting yourself as the wheel spins. While you’re using one hand to hold that pot stable from the outside (discipline, structure, restraint, timing), notice that your other hand is on the inside pushing yourself wider. That inner hand represents your passion, your desire, your thirst for life and your craving for experience. May your hands work together. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“If you’re worried about your reputation, this is merely another way of assigning power over yourself to others. You cannot control what anyone thinks, and no matter how pure, sinister, friendly, loving, raunchy, talented or slothy you might be, people will think what they want. What they might think is not your business.”

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Astrology has a place where all the missing socks can be found, and the Bic lighters and guitar picks; the missing people and misplaced ideas and lost dreams. This is the same place where we tend to carry our fears, and the baggage of our ancestors and of society itself. It’s also where our deepest potential can be found: your actual desire for who you want to be. It’s called the 12th house (by far the most mysterious and complex of the lot). Saturn, the planet that in traditional astrology rules your sign, is about to dive in. This will take you on a behind-the-scenes tour of your psyche. You’ll be invited to make friends with all of who you are, and to reclaim what you’ve disowned or denied. Many would find this to be daunting, even frightening. You are made of stronger stuff than that, though to the degree that you face your fears, you will also encounter your most deeply held wants and needs. Embark on this journey with an open heart and a sense of adventure. You’re being invited to do what so few people attempt, much less succeed at: to let go of your preconceptions and get to know yourself in an entirely new way. Do this willingly and you’ll discover the keys to freedom. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“It looks to me like you need to call an end to a certain line of conduct or thinking that has been in your family for a while. The opportunity you have is based on the fact that you can actually see this issue for what it is. It’s normally difficult to discern, and it’s been masked or veiled recently by its prevalence in society. Once you have it in your sights, address it on the spot.”

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Do not be deceived by the hostility, turmoil and confusion of the world. It’s nothing new, and nothing special. There’s a place for you, and your journey is leading you there. Saturn’s entry into Capricorn later this month begins a major new phase of your professional and creative life, wherein you will have many opportunities to make contact with the wider world. First, though, let’s consider these last moments of Saturn’s journey across your 10th house of reputation and success, which for you is Sagittarius. In these three years, you’ve been in overdrive building your vision. You’ve done more than lay a solid foundation. You have discovered and demonstrated that you can go from feeling to idea to concept to actually developing something tangible. This is the essential skill here on the cosmic physical plane: in effect, manifestation; but really, transubstantiation. As you embark on the adventures ahead, remember that your mission is spiritual. You are teaching what is possible, in the face of the world’s impossible situation. You will be demonstrating how to weave yourself into society, in a time of alienation. You are committed to doing something useful, when so much is so pointless. You’re doing something real in a time of illusions. Have confidence that the structures of the world will part and make room for you. They are not as solid as they may seem. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You mean a great deal to the people close to you, and though they may not say anything about it, they certainly know it. If it ever seems that people benefit from you more than you benefit from them, rejoice in that fact. You need less than they do; you are more complete in yourself than most people around you; and anyway, that self-completion is the major theme of your astrology.”

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for November 2017, #1173 | By Eric Francis

Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Take the time, and the emotional risk, of encountering people as people; not their online avatar, their image in pixels or their disembodied voice. Make real contact, in person, without a time limit. That part is easy: when you plan to visit someone, don’t schedule anything else afterwards for the same day; and if you might stay over, clear your morning hours. The idea is to give yourself room to stretch out and experience something you’re not necessarily planning for. You might know what you want. You might also recognize that it’s a little weird to declare (for example) that you will never, ever do something with someone. If you’re saying that, then you’re carrying around some energy. What’s that about? It rarely happens that you’re knocked off of your center specifically due to the actions of someone else. When you are holding your center, and you know who you are and what you want, you tend to be in balance and on solid ground. There’s something more significant: know what you have to offer. You will feel relevant in your relationships based on what you give; not what you take, or ask for, or expect. You’re the one in a position to start the process of exchange, by being generous with your mind, your body and your spirit; with your time, your love, and your resources.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You possess the gift of healing; in particular, helping others unravel their emotional and physical knots. It’s true that everyone has this gift, at least in potential, though at the moment, you have especially strong access. It’s been gradually developing over the past years. Learning to use this can benefit the people around you, though it will help to recognize how minimal your role really is. First, remember that when you’re assisting someone in any way, it’s not about you. You might indirectly benefit, though the focus must stay on the person you’re assisting. It’s also far preferable to help only when asked, or when you reach an impasse and have someone’s consent. At that point, you might gently guide people to the edge of their seeming limits, then let them make the choice to enter new territory or not. You cannot push or pull anyone beyond their boundaries. But you can continue to relate to them, and stay open, when they are at that point of hesitation; making sure you’re open and willing to accept whatever choice they might make. One useful tool is a sense of play. Keep things light, and engage them gently. Many people are caught in paradoxes that they don’t understand, but which you might. Meanwhile, consider how all of these ideas relate to you personally. Where is your edge, and why? For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“There is a genuine skill in creative mastery that involves standing back from judging what you’ve created. You might listen to what other people say; you might work until what you’re doing feels good; you might take a swashbuckling attitude and not care; you might trust the fact that you always strive to do better (or any of these at the right moment).”

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — The problem with life inside the robot — by which I mean wall-to-wall internet, and every automated device connected to it — is that we humans are losing our sense of play. That’s such an interesting word, because it works to describe what one does in a game; and also wiggle room; and a drama for fun, like a skit. In the digital mind, one error in one line of code can shut down the whole program. In the creative and physical realm, you can skip over mistakes, you can improvise, and you can go off-script. You can be curious; a computer cannot. All the algorithms in the world do not equal the hunger for knowledge or experience. You, however, are all about curiosity and passion for experience. You are a Gemini, after all; a sign represented by two little kids who, you can be sure, would prefer to play nearly all of the time. Therefore, look for every opportunity. When someone says something funny, toss them back one of your witty lines. When someone smiles at you, actually smile back and return the positive vibes. Get your hands into clay, paint, dirt, dough or a piano keyboard. Most significantly, bring a sense of play into this thing we call work. Right now, the world is smothering in boredom, which is a form of suppressed anger. Bring your loving heart and quick mind everywhere you go. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“You’re the one who has to negotiate between your potential and what you do with it. This is an active, everyday challenge being a Gemini. The world can seem so much bigger than you are, and in one way it is — but your mind is the thing that encompasses the world, all the world’s people and all your experiences there.”— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read hereEric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Here’s the deal: the charts for Cancer have not been this good in a long time. This is less about what’s going on in your sign and more about what’s happening in your empathetic water signs Scorpio and Pisces. (The astrology is pretty good for them too, though you get triple word score.) Mercury, the Sun and Jupiter are currently in Scorpio, which is your 5th solar house (pleasure, play, games, romance and sex for fun). Venus is on the way, arriving on Nov. 7. This is enough to bring out the artist, the lover and the adventurer in anyone. It will only take a little discipline to prod yourself into having fun all the time, wherever you are, and whomever you’re with.  However, given the prevailing state of the world (currently being redesigned as a nonstop panic attack) and the freaky social environment that’s obsessed with treating sex like a crime or a disease (things were not always this way, though it happens from time to time), you will need that bit of discipline. You will need to take the initiative and spark up the conversation, strike up the band, or invite people over to your crib. Don’t be deterred if anyone seems uninterested. Don’t take it personally. You are being groomed for leadership, and this is a rather pleasant aspect of your training program. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Notice your true feelings for people and make peace with the fact that you feel that way. You may have had a habit of resisting intimacy, and now you have little choice but to yield and open up to allowing others to touch your soul. In this way, you will come to the direct experience of growing into the soul dimension of your life.”

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — You simply must be more confident. This is a choice. It’s not something bestowed on you by a fairy godmother or earned like the Eagle Scout badge. You just wake up one day and decide you’re going to take some bigger chances with your life. You decide it’s time to push your seeming limits. You arrive at the point where you must be your own authority, and consciously boot the vestiges of your parents and various other control freaks out of the way. You seem to have been hesitating for a while; you may have run into the same limits repeatedly. One factor to unravel is any fear you might have of going out of control. One mental meme that’s been circulating goes something like this: If I let go a little, I won’t be able to reel myself back in. Or, if I have some fun, I won’t want to work. Or, if I smile at that person, I’ll get stuck in a 20-year relationship. These thoughts, which come in a thousand other forms, do nothing but undermine confidence, and creativity. They interfere with your ability to live your life rather than have your life live you. In these very weeks, ultra-serious Saturn is ending a long, three-year run through Sagittarius, which is your 5th solar house of pleasure, play and passion. It’s time to move on. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

“Rather than thinking of yourself as the entity that holds all the planets in orbit, think of yourself as someone who grounds the Sun into the Earth. Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You have something to say. It’s now time to say it. Why you might not have done so in the past is not so mysterious: many of the things you want to share are taboo. Even to say the first word about the topics most important to you is to risk a controversy. That, however, is impressive in itself, and it’s a clue about the power of your particular message. I suggest you practice getting the conversation going; and more to the point, get your ideas into writing, and then put them where others can read them. If you do this, you will begin rapidly to cultivate your knowledge, and your ability to express yourself. You are, for a number of reasons, immune from the effects of any debate you might stir up; particularly if you express yourself from a loving place, with the desire to both learn and inform. This will stretch you in many ways: it’s time to leave behind any embarrassment about the actual ideas you are interested in. It’s time to have sensitive conversations in person rather than exclusively on the internet. You are in a position to be a leader in your community, by which I mean one who sets the example as a sincere seeker and helps open the way for others to seek sincerely. This process has just begun. Upcoming developments will deepen and accelerate your journey.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — Through these last two months of the year, you’re about to experience an unusual transformation that will reveal the one thing all conscious people are wondering: your purpose on Earth. That might sound like a tall promise for a horoscope column, though the astrology is indeed unusual. What comes to you probably won’t be in the form of a tweet (for example, “It’s u’r destiny 2b gr8 cellist”). Rather, your guidance will more likely arrive in the form of doing something that you know is right. It might not be the thing you do all day, every day, though you’ll likely be actively engaged with it in some way now, and you’ll notice that it’s just the thing to do. Also, you’ll probably have had this same revelation before, though somehow you forgot, or got distracted, like having the idea for a novel that you were about to write down, but didn’t. This time, however, take the message, and act on your knowledge with your body as well as your mind. Yes, the truth is subtle. It’s a softly spoken calling, not a clap of thunder. Developing your path or project may take time, though you’d be wise to take steps in your new direction without delay, and keep taking small actions that gradually help you build momentum. There’s plenty more to this idea than you currently recognize. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio Birthdays 2017-18
What Will You Do with Your Astonishing Potential This Year?

Dear Scorpio Friend and Reader:

With today’s Sun-Jupiter conjunction in your sign, your solar year is beginning with astonishing potential. That might feel ironic, given the state of the world around you: there’s a lot of pain, destruction and chaos out there. But who better than a Scorpio to transmute that energy with pure passion, to get the emotional waters flowing again — both within yourself and, as it ripples out, in those closest to you?

Virgo

Depending on how your year is going, that might feel exciting or it might feel daunting. Either way, you can have a trusted guide by your side in the form of Eric Francis and your 2017-18 Scorpio Birthday Reading.

Eric will be covering the truly fortunate transit of Jupiter through your sign for the next year (you’ll want to tap into that big ball of goodness as consciously as possible while it’s there!) — as well as several other major-planet sign changes in the coming months. With Saturn, Uranus and Chiron on the move, your environment will be shifting.

In particular, Uranus entering your opposite sign and ‘relationship house’ — Taurus — could bring some surprises over the next few years. As a fixed sign, you may do better at handling the unexpected (and your partners) with a little heads up. It gives you time to get oriented on the inherent creative potential, and to channel your energy and emotion in deeply productive ways.

How will you use the blessings of Jupiter in your sign this year, Scorpio?

Yours & truly,

Amanda Painter

P.S. If you know and love anyone with a Scorpio Sun, Moon or rising sign, the 2017-18 Scorpio Birthday Reading makes an incredible gift.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Jupiter has arrived in your sign for one year. If there’s such a thing as an astrological need, this fulfills one: for Scorpio to have an infusion of water (provided by the Jupiter connection to Pisces) and of spiritual leavening (provided by its connection to Sagittarius). The last time a major planet visited your sign was the Mars retrograde of 2016, which was not exactly wet and juicy; Saturn, for part of 2015, was not exactly a ripe mango, either. Now you have extra resources to work with, and room to maneuver. You’re likely to be feeling more optimistic; not just about life but about who you are. That’s most of what you need to go on in life. When you feel good about yourself, you can accomplish just about anything. At the end of the year, another planetary move will have a similar effect: Saturn enters Capricorn, which will take the brakes off of your self-esteem. Between now and then, however, you must fully claim your self-respect; something you’ve been struggling to do in recent years (with some success). You will know you’re doing this because you feel demonstrably better about yourself. You will be less defensive, and more supportive of the people around you. You’ll be more interested in whether you’ve kept your promises to others than whether they’ve kept their promises to you. That’s true self-confidence.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — Let’s continue to focus on the movement of Saturn through the last degrees of your sign, which might only occur twice or maybe three times in your lifetime. Saturn is the lord of the material plane; that is, of physical reality and its structures as we know them; and that has a lot to do with time. Saturn is now conjunct the Galactic Core: a spiritual source, and a homing signal. The combination of Saturn with its orientation on matter, and the Core, with its spiritual focus, represents the quest of all true seekers: how does one live in accord with divine intelligence on this level of reality, with all its madness? Now you have the story of your life short enough to fit into a fortune cookie. You are going through an integration process that will build in intensity through the winter solstice. This will put you in a position where you feel compelled to make decisions that guide your life based on your actual values. At this new stage of your life, if you know something is true, you must act on it. If you understand that some things serve your purposes and the greater good, you must choose them, rather than what harms. Combining the Galactic Core and Saturn, the one thing for which there’s no room at all is self-deception. Write that on your birthday cake.

22-Jan. 20) — Do you really think you can put your faith in technology? Your solar chart suggests you might be doing this. If so, give it up. It’s the current mental plague that will strangle everyone and everything in its path, and is already doing a good job of it. Rather, you would do much better to invest your faith in the human realm, such as the living example you set every day. You’re currently in one of those phases where your leadership skills are in demand and in focus. Most of what you’re leading with is your own desire. You are demonstrating that what you want must be the guiding principle of your life. That sounds selfish, I know; though there’s one way to test the validity of these desires: they work for everyone else, too. This isn’t the trickle-down theory of economics. To the contrary, there’s a direct, mutual and immediate benefit between what serves you and what serves your family, company, community or the public. That’s the standard to orient on. At this stage of your life, nothing can be good for you and simultaneously bad for anyone else. The world has a lot to learn about this kind of plus-plus symbiosis (a fancy term for win-win). Set aside any feelings of competition you may be having. And remember, computers won’t solve any problems. Only you can, especially if you collaborate.

20-Feb. 19) — With Jupiter, the Sun and Mercury traveling through Scorpio, the potent midheaven angle of your solar chart, you’re experiencing a calling to success and achievement. On some level, that equates to the ability to do good or ill. We live in an age when accountability is typically either a thing of the past or something enforced on people. You need to subject yourself voluntarily to an evaluation process. Make sure that older, wiser mentors who are not afraid to disagree with you are involved in your decision-making process. Because you have influence, and because your aims are likely to develop into something bigger than you’ve planned, you must at all times keep one eye on the law of unintended consequences. It’s often said that knowledge is power, and the one thing that Aquarius of all the signs must be aware of is what you do not know. Understanding that your decisions have impact and that you don’t know everything will help keep you in check effectively enough to make better decisions. Be cautious of the desire to accomplish everything at once, something that could vex you over the coming year. Rather, work from a list of priorities, which you keep flexible with ongoing re-evaluation. This will help prevent you from getting stuck on anything, and ensure that you stay fairly close to being in the moment — and facing toward the future.

— From your 2017 annual reading by Eric Francis, The Book of Your Life — which you can read hereEric’s beginning work on the 2018 annual edition — you may pre-order that here.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — To the extent that you’ve gained standing in society, you’ve earned it through effort, trial and tribulation. For three years, Saturn has been making its way across the top of your solar chart, an irresistible calling to attempt the impossible. Alternately, you may have been put into positions where you had to rise to the occasion whether you wanted to or not. Now is your moment to claim your place in the world, which means the right to do what you do best. You’ll be doing this in a time when many people are struggling and uncertain, and you will need to navigate this carefully. You might think of your function as expressing the particular gift, talent or desire that you have. You can take that a few levels deeper and remember that your actual purpose is to connect with people, and encourage them to participate: that’s to say, to demonstrate whatever you do by doing it lovingly. At the moment, you have access to some astonishing resources, all of which are yours to share. Nothing is actually yours, per se, or not yours, per se. Your role is to ensure that the people you care about have enough of everything, so much as you can make that possible. You are a Pisces, the Omega point of the zodiac. Now is the time to answer your calling and step into your true purpose.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for October 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for October 2017, #1168 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Uranus in your sign the past seven years has pushed, pulled, stretched and tweaked who you are. The energy of this transit has been so revved and at times stressful that you’ve had few chances to appreciate some of the more revolutionary qualities that it’s bestowed on you. This month, however, you get a point of contact and a moment of truth. Someone, something, or the world itself, meets you on your own level, and reflects back what you’ve attained or become. The missing experience that you acquire will reveal something of your true potential, which can happen when what you have to offer is met consciously by a circumstance where you’re actually received. You might wonder how you can set your life up to create more of these experiences, or have it be this way all the time. That is indeed the quest, and because you’ll engage this desire as a conscious mission, you have something to aspire to. Meanwhile, you may be getting the message that you don’t have to push yourself, or anyone else, quite as hard as you have in the past. You have an influence. People notice you, though they don’t always know how to respond, and it will help if you find ways to make it easier for them. It will help if you show your appreciation ongoing for anyone who even vaguely recognizes who you are. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You are evolving from one of the most creative times in recent memory to one of the most productive. The key to being dependably prolific is constantly shifting your routines. It’s easy and indeed a kind of temptation to respond to the chaos of the world by locking down work patterns, and personal habits, and enforcing them with rigor. However, you need space to maneuver, and the flexibility to do what you need to do when the time and place are appropriate. One benefit of this will be the ongoing exercise of inventing approaches to your work that are adapted to your latest situation. As a Taurus, you like things predictable, stable and easy to follow. Yet this has a way of trapping your energy, and keeping you caught in mental ruts that run opposite to what is actually productive. You need some element of waking up every day and wondering what you both want and need to do. That may come down to the freedom to continually adjust your approach, if the tasks themselves are committed in advance. Through a process of experimentation, you will discover new methods of efficiency, or at least keep your mind fresh and alert from the need to rethink things. What you do calls for a creative approach, which always comprises approximately equal parts discipline and originality. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — You may feel like the world is not ready for what you have to offer. But is the world ever ready for something new, or does it automatically despise everything from the Eiffel Tower to chocolate ice cream, until those things suddenly emerge as wildly popular? You have all the talent and discipline you need. You’re riding a creative wave, as planets gather in Libra, your gloriously alive 5th house of art, fun and risks. The thing you need to work is the theatrical angle: that is, the showmanship to captivate your audience. To do that, focus your talent for telling a good story, remembering that even documentaries have a touch of fiction to them. Conjure your public image using your mercurial skill of relating to others. Remember that public recognition and financial reward for your work are two different things, and negotiate each side of that equation on its own terms. The only recognition you need at the moment is from partners, clients and financial backers. Your most important success is the satisfaction of knowing that you do what you do for its own sake, rather than for any reward in the future. One litmus test is whether you would do it for no money. That’s not the goal, of course; but it’s an indicator of whether you’re doing something that’s truly in harmony with who you are. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You’re moving into a position of leadership with your tribe or family. The way you’re doing this is by exercising your prerogative to do what you want to do, and need to do, regardless of what others may think. The practical effect is to guide others to do the same thing, by essentially granting them permission to freely be themselves. One might think that this would lead to a kind of anarchy, though it’s more likely to release potential as you and the people around you discover new ways to relate and co-create. Another part of your role is to lead the successful aspects of these experiments into more formalized arrangements. If the emphasis of motivation is on desire rather than necessity, you’ll have an idea who really wants to be there. This is especially vital for you, as both Mercury and Jupiter will soon move into the most passionate and adventurous angle of your solar chart, Scorpio. You will be drawn in the direction that is right for you, even as seemingly more practical concerns try to get your attention. Keep leaning into the direction of what actually matters to you rather than apparent necessity. You will still pay your bills. If you do only what is practical, you’ll still pay the bills, though at considerable expense to your soul. Thankfully, you can cross that off your list of things to ponder. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Your solar chart is all about the theme of what happens close to home. Your community is calling you to invest your energy. Your home is the place to meet people, to share food, and to live your life. And it’s the center of your spiritual life, your personal sanctuary. The world is struggling with whole notion of ‘local’; and for many people, their home is no longer the central place in their life. Often it would seem there is not one, save for one’s workplace, and that’s not usually a cozy place where people would voluntarily hang out after hours. This same astrology parallels an emotional and spiritual picture that’s calling for you to take some space to yourself and orient on your inner life. One way this appears in your chart is that Jupiter will soon enter Scorpio, which is your 4th house of your inner life and sense of security. This also covers your home and private spaces. Jupiter’s presence here is about making home, and almost always indicates a time of improvement and investment in your home. Mercury will enter Scorpio around the same time, giving this a personal, immediate and less abstract feeling. There are problems and emotional states that you can address much more effectively simply by being in your home, and doing everything you can to ensure that it’s a place where you feel welcome. Leo, Virgo Birthday Readings Complete

Dear Friend of Planet Waves:

If what we’re seeing in the wake of the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse is any indication of how influential it was, astrology is alive and kicking in your personal world. I’ve spent the last couple of days finishing the Leo and Virgo birthday readings, and I want you to know they’re available.

They are also somewhat late, though this has been a work ethic issue: I don’t do this kind of sensitive reading when I’m in any way stressed, unrested, or distracted. That time finally arrived Friday and Saturday, and these readings are now available.

Planet Waves
You may view the glyph key here.

We are in the midst of extraordinary astrology: we’re living in the wake of so much that’s happened, so much that is happening now, and so much coming up. You need all the information you can get.

Having access to sensitive and accurate astrological keys is a direct advantage. You know the psychic weather when you know the astrology. I work in both the personal and the transpersonal, describing certain inner developments in your life, as well as developments in the world around you — and then I describe where the two meet.

I work in human language, using astro-lingo only as necessary. My message is designed to be both positive and informative: while I’m a pretty good astrologer, I am an even better motivational speaker. I believe in your potential, and I am honored and happy to offer you the keys to realizing your personal gifts.

We are, as well, living through extraordinarily trying times. It’s not easy to be alive right now, but if you can keep your awareness up, and stay a little bit above the fray, and look toward the future, these are indeed brilliant and challenging and amazing times to engage fully with life.

Because these readings are being delivered late, we’re going to keep the pre-order price of $44 for a while. You may get your Leo reading here, or your Virgo reading here. These are especially poignant for your rising sign, as my emphasis is on the houses.

Both include original new music by Vision Quest. You may listen to our live stream here.

We are also offering pre-order on the Libra reading, which I reckon will be done pretty soon — probably within a few days after the equinox.

Speaking of, I mention in Virgo that I’ve recently published an article in The Mountain Astrologer called It’s All in the Houses. This is an informative, easy-to-follow article that will open up your astrological thinking. The way that I can do these readings for you so accurately is that I understand the houses, or at least I sincerely strive to. I explain how that works in the article, which is free to anyone. If you want to take this deeper, we do offer a class by the same name.

Thank you for being a customer of Planet Waves, and for doing your part to make the world a friendlier, warmer and more intelligent place.

With love, your astrologer,

P.S. If you missed In the Shadow of the Moon, you may access all 12 signs here, or single serving signs here.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Since late summer, planets have been streaking through your sign; which often indicates the feeling of being driven, an increase in activity and commitments and, for you, a restless and nervous buzz. This culminates with something that is fulfilling and which arrives with a sense of completion and contact: a conjunction of Venus and Mars on Oct. 5. This is a rare sign of balance in a world that seems to be going increasingly off its rails, hinges and beams on a daily basis. While relationship matters still have your attention, and may be leaving you questioning your investment of energy, they no longer have the ability to throw you off balance like they have so many times during this long phase of your life. The essence of this development is integrating the male and female aspects of your psyche. You no longer need to seek either one of these things outside of yourself. The more you integrate them inwardly, the more stable you will feel, and the less power over you people will seem to possess. There remain questions involving joint finances, though you’re in an unusually good position to attain a new level of independence. Rather than being lured out of being grounded and centered within yourself, notice the connection between your emotional life and your economic life; and don’t let anyone convince you that you need them more than you need yourself. Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — For the past 12 months, Jupiter has been in your sign, revealing the many possibilities of your life. You may have also experienced certain problems or issues being magnified, though now at least you can see in detail what they are, and what you might do about them. In the first of many new developments influencing you during the coming 12 months, Jupiter enters your neighboring sign Scorpio, which means that it’s time to invest in yourself, your goals and your vision for your life. It’s a message that self-esteem is the basis of all success in the world, in your relationships with others, and in your sense of belonging on the planet. This is the first of many upcoming changes directly influencing your sign. To name two others: later this year, Saturn enters Capricorn, one of the most important transits that you can experience, representing an extended phase of shoring up your foundations, cleaning your roots and resolving long-enduring problems. Then Chiron enters your house of relationships, where it will stay for about nine years. This will emphasize healing processes within partnerships of all kinds. The upshot of these transits is that — whether immediately or over the long haul — you will be transforming all of the most significant facets of your existence. Your awareness will be called where it truly matters. You will learn to stand on your own, which is the prerequisite for freedom. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — What is the net result of your efforts? When you consider all you do, and who you do it for, and with, and because of, and you study what actually happens after all is said and done, what’s the outcome? Here in the 21st century, that’s the thing to think about. For you, it’s essential to recognize the extent to which you’re not only personally invested in your work, but also the degree to which it’s a source of your identity. The results of your efforts are in truth the results of your life. Your solar chart suggests you’re moving up in the world, or that advancement is on the agenda, which applies not just to your work but to you personally. Yet this is centered on your professional activities, which, by the way, are described by fire signs Aries and Leo. Making things ‘all about you’ is the source of your river of power, though it’s not the delta. Hence, testing the results is essential to your personal progress, which is connected to what you do for the world. When Jupiter ingresses your sign later this month, you will be transported to a wider world of more important priorities. You will be called upon to consider, use and apply the spiritual teaching you’ve imbibed over the years. You will be called upon to be a bigger person. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — After nearly three years of Saturn in your sign, you’re finally starting to get some results. Well, that’s Saturn for you; though in the scheme of things, a thousand days is a short time to develop anything that truly makes a difference. You have arrived at a moment of both contact and commitment. You’re at a turning point, where you first need to evaluate your progress since this time of year in 2014 (which I know feels like forever ago). This has been a deeply formative time for you, during which you’ve had to reckon your desires with your abilities. If this is working correctly, you’ve pushed yourself, worked with discipline, and had a long encounter with your seeming limitations. If you’ve experienced losses, you’ve also received the gain of a deeper connection with your aspirations and your capacity to get things done. The remaining three months of this year represent one of the most significant transitions of your lifetime so far. Saturn in your sign will make a series of conjunctions to slow-moving (though not widely discussed) planets in your sign, and a conjunction to the Galactic Core. You are engaging the practical side of spirituality: putting your devotion to good use, embracing the concept of service, and living the truth that one of your core purposes is acting as if to hold the world together. Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Alice A. Bailey, in her essential 1951 book Esoteric Astrology, describes Capricorn as representing “the life of the divine deeply embedded in substance.” We are learning to relate to this through recognizing that mountains are alive and have consciousness; that crystals are our friends and allies; and that the Earth itself, so long considered blind, deaf and inert, is fully aware of our presence. For many years, Pluto has been gradually working its way through your sign, which has felt like a plough turning over the ground, getting it ready for the planting of new seeds. Those seeds are now being sown, particularly where professional matters are concerned. You’ve been through a series of events over the summer that have compelled you to see beyond the details and minor points of existence, and to focus your mind on the longer story of your life. You are being called, at once, to take life more seriously, and to feed and encourage the childlike nature that is the true essence of your sign. Capricorn is considered the sign of climbing, and even of ruthless competition. This is a distortion and a misunderstanding. Your work is relational more than anything. Your first responsibility is to people and not to institutions. As such, you must be motivated by the love of what you do and those whom you serve, rather than by the love of success. Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — To be meaningful, this thing we call spirituality must have a use. It cannot merely be an abstract, academic or esoteric thing, as it so often is. Its correct use would include a sane approach to handling conflict, and the use of wisdom rather than force. This is a tall order, I know, on a planet where most people concern themselves either with survival, or greed. For you, the spiritual life is designed to manifest primarily in your relationships. While the point might be made that this applies to everyone (it does), the emphasis for Aquarius is to make sure you don’t forget, and convince yourself you’ll find enlightenment way in the back of a dusty book on Freemasonry. The relational nature of your spiritual path comes into focus this month, as planets collect in Libra. This is an invitation to see, feel and experience the purpose of your relationships, which is non-negotiable. Anytime there’s some sort of haggling going on, or competition, or scorekeeping, you can be sure that you’ve drifted from your purpose. Part of whatever ‘spiritual’ might imply involves being supportive of the people you care about and their total environment. Spiritual also implies a measure of balance, though that must be assessed over the long run rather than the immediate sense. Your role is to be helpful. Eliminate the question, “What’s in it for me?” That is from another cosmos. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — This month, Jupiter, the first Pisces planet, changes signs and ingresses Scorpio, a water sign with a special resonance to yours. At the same time, Saturn begins the final phase of its three-year run through Sagittarius, the angle of your chart associated with responsibility, accountability, reputation and success (see Sagittarius for details). Whether your life is going brilliantly or you’re struggling, persist at what you’re doing, and remember the goals that you set out for yourself back at whatever you consider the beginning of this phase of your life. Saturn making a conjunction to the Galactic Core is so rich with purpose, it’s difficult to understand, much less explain, but you could say it’s about grounding the essential elements of the divine plan in your life, and in the world around you, at this time. This transit, unlike any other that happens for the next 29 years, could be described as the embodiment of “action is the fruit of knowledge.” Said another way (borrowing from the Grateful Dead), your role is to shed light and not to master. Yet you must focus your energy, and the strength of your will, and view time as your ally rather than as your enemy. As for Jupiter in Scorpio, there could hardly be a happier transit for any Pisces who knows that a fully conscious approach to sex is the path to love, wisdom and healing. Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for September 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for September 2017, #1164 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The question of your relationships is about devotion. That does not imply monogamy or sex, or living together, or getting married, or being jealous, or even being together. What is strongly implied is making sure that you hold open the space for the right thing to happen. That might mean accepting the relationship in a new form; it certainly means consciously embracing the changes and the growth process of the people you care the most about. Yet the astrology I’m describing is not merely personal or private. It’s about your relationship to ‘the world’, which means to your environment and all the people in it. Right now this is likely to have some unusual properties, which defy the usual course of your romantic relationships. Take these opportunities eagerly; you will learn many deep and beautiful lessons as your habitual relational tendencies are altered by new experiences. There’s a dual question: what is the meaning of sex, and what is the meaning of non-sex? Take these slowly. Notice the erotic qualities of every exchange, especially those relationships which specifically exclude what we think of as sex. This will teach you more about the meaning and nature of your erotic life than nearly anything else. Hold space for this learning process. Hold space for the people in your life to grow, change and evolve. Hold space for reality to enter. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — Your creative fires are burning hot and clean. And your solar chart is revealing a devotion to your work that’s unusual even for you. This is the beginning of a long-awaited new phase of your professional life, one where the work itself is all that matters. However, you still have that one little skill you need to practice, which is the one about getting out of your own way; the one about not overthinking things; the one about trusting your process. They’re part of the same thing. It’s possible that the sheer strength of your talent, passion and devotion will get you past that little knee-high fence that your life story includes constantly hopping over. Yet when there’s so much energy moving, you’re running like a race horse: with precision, and where stumbling can be catastrophic. So keep an eye on that little fence. Make a habit of removing stumbling blocks before you get to them, rather than after. Establish the central purposes of your life, and then organize your life around fulfilling them. Your relationships will need to follow suit. You may find yourself investing your abundant sexual energy into other purposes, which is OK to a point, though with so much happening, and so much needing to be done, you simply must make room for human contact, for long nights together, and for good food. Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Recent astrology, from the total eclipse to Mercury retrograde that’s about to end, have all challenged your sense of grounding and security. You’ve established a new relationship with your living space, with certain relatives, and with the experience of being alive on Earth today. If you can do one thing — be less judgmental, and more observant — you will release a torrent of energy. And in the process of doing what amounts to breaking an inner dam, you will feel safer. That must translate to much more than feeling secure inside your four walls. You have to take this into your outer environment. Many people are feeling really, really shaken up right now. They don’t necessarily have your power of eternal optimism, or your ability to see things from six viewpoints at once. You are, in a sense, a teacher of safety and of security merely in your gesture of feeling safe. Yet you need to go past that, and translate safety into belonging. This in turn translates to feeling confident enough to speak your mind and do your part, even in the face of what seem to be many reasons not to. When the Sun moves into Libra on the 22nd (the equinox) is when you will truly be summoned to courage and to action. Spend the weeks leading up to that in earnest preparation. Get your house in order. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — Your astrological sign (or rising sign) is one ideally suited for the art and craft of writing. Though I’ve never seen this in a book, it’s obvious from study of your solar chart, which emphasizes the sign Virgo right where it’s needed most, the 3rd house of communications. Virgo has been bristling for many weeks, and it’s especially strong now, with Mercury retrograde wrapping up, with the Sun present, and with Venus and Mars approaching. In recent history, computer programmers emerged as the most powerful people. In the world that’s rising, people who can write coherently, with accuracy, and with a touch of elegance will possess a skill that’s on the level of alchemy. It doesn’t matter if you don’t consider yourself a professional writer; devote yourself to learning how to express yourself in written language, and to do so well. This can only come with daily practice. This would include writing letters, emails and stories where you reread, revise and proofread three to five times. What we call writing is 90% thinking; and most of the time, that happens in the revision process. This is something entirely different from our dominant world of tweets and social posts, which are like popcorn compared to the nourishing, potent effects of crafted sentences, paragraphs and essays. The harder this is for you, the more you need to do it. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Planet Waves

“I have just listened to your Part 1 and Part 2 readings and I am amazed at how accurate it has been. Like you have a telescope watching me shed a skin and transform into a totally changed person in the last 10 years.”

— Pauline Jones

If you have a Leo Sun, rising sign or Moon, how are you feeling about your vision for your life, and in what ways are you ready to take action toward it? On Aug. 21, a total solar eclipse in Leo signaled the second stage of whatever life-shifting process you’re engaged with.

The reverberations from the recent eclipse will keep rippling out and developing through the next six to twelve months — and Eric’s 2017-18 Leo Birthday Reading will be designed to guide you through it all.

“The past few years have been very difficult on many levels and it has been the readings I get through you that keep me going. Always, absolutely right on, every one of them.”

— Rhonda

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — The world, and your world, is still reverberating with the effects of the total solar eclipse that happened in your sign on Aug. 21. Whatever may be going on for the people in your life, you’ve arrived at a threshold of your journey on Earth. You may now see that the signs of this go back about two years; many events happened in preparation for what you’re experiencing now, and what you’re about to experience. Hang loose, stretch your body, and feed yourself well. Keep dedicated people around you. You’re entering a period of achievement, which will require that you have a high level of accountability — and that you bank on all of your skills. As events progress in the outer world, you will be focusing inwardly on an incredible process of becoming. This is the full development of what used to be called personhood. Most people don’t have this quality inherently upon being born. It’s learned, earned, claimed and re-claimed many times in the course of a lifetime. Some acquire it through loss, pain and sorrow. Some learn it consciously, by taking on the challenges of growth, by consciously embracing change, and by persistently seeking understanding of themselves. There’s nothing convenient about this, though in the end, you will only gain. In the coming seasons, vast new horizons of experience will open up. Welcome them joyfully. Virgo

Attention Virgo: Just one day after Monday’s exciting total solar eclipse, the Sun moves into your sign — bringing that energy signature front and center into your life, while it’s still fresh. Its effects will continue to reverberate and develop for months to come, interacting with a whole host of astrology central to your year ahead. Eric will be covering all the most compelling areas of your life in your upcoming 2017 Virgo Birthday Reading: relationships, career, creativity, family, healing and more. You’re invited to pre-order it now, while it’s at its lowest discounted price.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — When Mercury, your ruling planet, stations direct on Sept. 5, it does so in the exact same degree as the now-infamous total solar eclipse that happened on Aug. 21. The eclipse created an opening, and now you’re about to find out what was really going on. This will, perhaps, take the rest of the month, because you’ll need to integrate a discovery that you may find quite unbelievable. The odd bits include how what you figure out was right where you could have seen it all along; and then, how you’ll have to consciously make sense of the discovery. What’s actually happening is that your mind is opening up in a way that’s never happened before. You’re becoming more sensitive to an inner source of information, which you can depend upon implicitly. Said another way, you are changing; the structure of your psyche is changing; you are, in truth, a much larger being than you ever imagined. Practicing using these skills, and being this person, will build your confidence in ways you’ve never imagined possible. The way that a shamanic teacher might phrase things, you’re entering into a new relationship to the vast unknown, which you contain. You must stand in a conscious relationship to the mystery of your existence. Let it be what it is, without the need to ‘solve’ or even resolve anything. Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — When the Sun enters your sign on Sept. 22, it forms a conjunction to Vesta. Potentially the most interesting asteroid, Vesta says you have a job to do, to which you must devote yourself with your whole being. You might think of this as a birthday gift from the universe. That the Sun and Vesta meet up early in your sign, activating what’s called the Aries Point, describes the kind of impact that you may have. Yet you may be working behind the scenes for a while, and you’ll have to do some of what might seem like thankless work. Don’t worry about that part: all your efforts count. Between now and when this astrology starts to phase in around Sept. 18 (when Vesta enters your sign), do whatever mental work, housekeeping, karma-clearing and meditation that you need. Each day, make a little progress. Your inner life is particularly rich right now. You may be feeling the effects of many past experiences, in the form of processing them, or searching for their true meaning. If you put your exploration into writing, it will be more satisfying, more effective and give you some documentation to refer to. The form of this writing would be, “this is how I feel about [whoever or whatever] today.” Then do that day by day. After a few weeks, you’ll have a clue — and you’ll be free to move ahead. Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Recent events have thrust you into the spotlight, and also made you subject to a degree of public critique. You don’t have an especially thick skin, so this is having its challenging moments. One way to handle this is to guide yourself into living with an unusual degree of transparency. With the people who matter, state your motives, your desires and your needs. Be willing to reveal what you would not ordinarily allow anyone to know, and feel how strong you are when you have no secrets. When Mercury stations direct on the 5th, you may get an extra push in that direction, so make sure all your words and deeds are honorable and fit for public consumption. The current state of our society is that everything comes out sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, there are people looking your way, with the expectation that you understand something they do not. If this isn’t true today, it’s likely to be pretty soon. You have a proverbial finger on the pulse of public opinion. There’s a shift in direction taking place, and your mind is already ahead of the curve. This started in mid-August, but now you’re picking up increasingly clear signals about what’s developing. The purpose of this is not to predict, and certainly not to be gloomy. Rather, your knowledge gives you and the people you care about a distinct advantage. Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You’ll need to keep a high level of influence, and at times control, over all of your projects and affairs. You’re in that spot where every detail must be aligned with your grand plan. The gel has not fully set, and you still have considerable influence over just how that happens. Focus on the order in which things need to be done, and laying the groundwork for the future through careful preparation. Focus on who your closest colleagues and allies are; now is the time to firm up arrangements. Several turning points to keep in mind are Mercury changing directions on Sept. 5, which will help resolve any tension in work-related partnerships, and get some additional cash flowing; the Sun’s ingress into Libra on the 22nd, which will raise your visibility and shift your priorities onto the big picture; and your ruling planet Jupiter’s ingress into Scorpio on Oct. 10, which will refresh your creative well and allow you to draw energy from a much deeper place. There are likely to be many people and many seemingly separate projects involved.
You are the conductor of this orchestra, because it’s your life and your vision being expressed. Just keep reminding yourself over and over again: this has nothing to do with your parents, except perhaps what you learned from them. You are the next generation. You are the future.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — Are you wrestling with your conscience? Do you need to think about what is good, what is true, and what is righteous? This is preferable to doing the wrong thing, but I wonder what the questions or even struggle is about. You don’t need so much theory behind your approach to life, to love, or to work. You don’t need to plan as much as you do, especially if planning helps you feel less insecure. Nearly a decade of Pluto in your sign has taught you that everything forever changes. Yet you are the focus of change at the moment; though it’s a particularly challenging form of change since what seems to be most influenced is the structure of your psyche. What’s actually happening is that a personality husk is falling away, and you’re exposing something more elemental and much closer to your core. This is about direct experience, not any form of theory. In a short time you’re going to start making decisions, which is a basic level of leadership, and you’ll need to choose on the basis of what is objectively right more than what seems right for you personally. What is right is right, and what is true is true, and it’s time that you embrace a wider concept of yourself, something that’s all-encompassing and committed to your true mission, rather than your questions about it. Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — There seem to be more alterations to your financial affairs than in a tailor shop during prom season. Yet you’re stitching together a coherent plan, and something with potential. What you need, though, is a more compassionate embracing view of your partnerships. You could do more with certain people, if you recognized how productive the relationships really are. You seem to have a firewall set up between your shared mission with certain people, and your ability to bring that mission to fruition. It’s almost as if you’re reluctant to consummate the marriage on the first night of the honeymoon. Sometimes hesitation is appropriate, though you would feel more confident if you really understood that your interests are not even vaguely separate from the people around you. You share purpose, you share resources, you share necessities. It’s only a flimsy Chinese wall that keeps you thinking there is some division or divergence. You’ll start to see the light when Vesta and the Sun move into your fellow air sign Libra in a few weeks. At that point, you’ll have a view from a higher altitude, though once you see the lay of the land, come back to Earth. Your services and indeed your inspiration are needed here, in a world that’s struggling for any reason to believe that good things are possible, and where people are struggling to have faith in themselves. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — There are suddenly many people in your life: various shades of partners, prospects, potentials, friends, lovers and a few who are deeply devoted to you. Give them credit for showing up every time they do. Make a special effort to see them as whole beings, with whole lives, which happen to interface with yours in a few key places. You possess something that most of them do not, which you might think of as a broad perspective on time, and a rather wide definition of purpose. You see the connections that other people so often miss. You see relevance and patterns where most others see only data, or trivia. Saturn has shifted to direct motion in your house of leadership and responsibility. This is focusing your drive to take responsibility for the whole world you live in. Vesta and the Sun are headed for Libra, which is about you being a master of resources. Even if you have an abundance, use it wisely, save for a rainy day, and plan your future investments carefully. With so many variables in play, you will need to be vigilant about staying in focus and on mission. If you’re willing to do that, apply yourself modestly, and have respect for the value of time, you are headed for an unusual period of achievement. Just remember, you didn’t do it alone. Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for August 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for August 2017, #1160 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Life is creative. Most people never figure that out. Some people do, and they often become artists, musicians, dancers, jewelers, writers or some other form of aesthetic contributor — they just can’t help themselves. Yet the creative function is not really about art; it’s about existence. Plenty of cab drivers, hedge fund managers, house moms, crochet masters and printing press operators figure it out too. This month’s rare, magnificent total solar eclipse in Leo occurs on the line in your chart where your creative source meets your daily devotion to service, work and healing. The personal message of the eclipse is to make the connection between these two seemingly different aspects of life. It happens right in that sweet spot where inspiration meets action meets daily devotion. There’s something deeper here, as well. The healing source is the creative source. They are the same thing, applied in slightly different ways. To work this potent zone, whether you think of it as describing astrology or existence, takes a conscious decision. Once you do that, you will tap into a seemingly endless well of energy. Explore that for a while and you will discover, further, that you can direct ‘creative chaos’ in refined, specific and purposeful ways. This is all good practice for Saturn moving in your favor later in the year. Your level of responsibility will increase considerably, and you must bring all of your talent to bear on whatever you do. Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — There is, in your solar chart, a brittle line between your need for security and your desire for unpredictable experience. I say brittle because your idea of security is pretty bold; you tend to feel safe on the planet, and you possess a rare kind of confidence. Yet it’s easy to lose track of that, because another side of your nature is averse to taking risks. Part of this relates to your somewhat infamous tendency to overthink things, and to talk yourself out of what you want. So, in many ways, you’re like a Porsche being driven around a parking lot. You need to get yourself on the open road; and for that to happen, it will help if you lure yourself with visions of the great mountain ranges of Montana, the ancient forests of California, or sunset over the Pacific Ocean. Said another way, you don’t need to justify your desire for experience with a theory, or the need for a certain level of expertise, experience or freedom from other commitments. You don’t need an academic degree of certification. Rather, you must feel your curiosity burning like an itch that won’t go away. Feel your urgent need to change the world building tension like an earthquake that’s about to happen. Feel your desire for sex like something that would occur on a cool, moist forest floor rather than in a pristine bed. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Yours is the sign associated with verbal mastery. That’s partly a Mercury thing — the god of mind and alchemy rules your sign. It’s also because Leo covers the 3rd house of your chart, the one about communication themes. This is a bold, hot sign associated with your ability to speak and write. Yet a careful critique of Gemini will often reveal that you don’t usually go to your true intellectual depth. You are too often content with a basic analysis, or something that sounds good, and/or is true enough. The total solar eclipse later this month, which takes place in Leo, your 3rd solar house of thought and messages, is calling you to your full depth. Eclipses often accelerate processes; this one will slow down your mental metabolism and encourage you to be more reflective. You are being summoned to engage all of your mental gears and get to the bottom of things. At the same time, you must alternate that with a wide-angle approach, and see everything you know in the context of everything else you know. This applies to whatever you may be working on. There’s a special message about comprehending the impact that your family had on your intellectual development. You may still be trapped in their estimation of you, which is limited by their own intelligence and perception. It’s time to set yourself free. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You are in the process of becoming a financial ninja. See if you can set aside all the mysticism associated with money, and the emotional baggage. Set aside the fact that it’s the only thing too many people seem to care about. Pause on the notion that people think money absolves all sin, solves all problems and grants only happiness. This is about the practical matter of ensuring that your life and your creative activities are properly funded. But there is something deeper. One of the most profound struggles of the human race, particularly here in the rather wealthy Western world, is the crisis of connecting one’s personal values, innate assets, and the ability to eat food, keep a dry roof over your head, and support your family. We simply assume it’s only vaguely possible that someone will be able to live on their talents; or, said another way, actually do what they came to the Earth to do. For you, the root of this is to respect your own gifts. That does not mean being proud, boastful or even ambitious. It does mean understanding that you possess something you came here to share. Your part in this begins in that respect, which comes as part of a conscious maturity process. To that, you would add connecting daily discipline to your sense of purpose. That’s not about hope; it’s about action. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Leo Birthdays 2017:
Living a Leo Year Like No Other

“Thanks for reassuring this Leo, who is having a year ‘for the books’! You get to the core of things.”
— Barbara Peaslee, on a previous Leo reading

Dear Friend and Reader:

One day after the Sun entered your sign this past weekend, there was a special New Moon in Leo — special, because you get another one in a month. And that second Leo New Moon will be even more special: the highly anticipated Aug. 21 total solar eclipse (in between is a partial lunar eclipse in your ‘relationship sign’, Aquarius).

Planet Waves

Eclipses are unique and powerful pattern-shifting events.

Or, at least, they can be — especially if you can get clear on what you want, set your intentions, and then get the ball rolling in your desired direction.

Working with this kind of energy is one of Eric’s specialties.

And he’ll be giving you the benefit of his expertise in your 2017 Leo Birthday Readingsuitable for anyone with a Leo Sun, Leo rising or a Leo Moon.
Even better, Eric will look ahead to some of the other major astrology of the year, so you’ll be better able to develop whatever happens with this eclipse for months to come.

Whether you need clarity with your intimate relationships, career, self-esteem or identity, creativity, spiritual healing or family issues, you’ll find ideas, encouragement, new perspectives and reassurance in this reading.

“Your work has always offered me food for thought, options to consider and clarity when needed. Thank you very much for what you do and how you present it.”
— Victoria Bouet

I hope you’ll pre-order your 2017 Leo Birthday Reading soon, while it’s still available for the lowest price we’re offering: $33.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Once again, one of the outstanding astrological events of our lifetimes occurs in your sign. That would be the Great American Eclipse of Aug. 21, 2017. There’s a precedent for this: the total solar eclipse of Aug. 11, 1999. Consider what you were doing that summer, and what you were doing for the next three or so years. When you think of 1999 as a ‘before and after’ moment, what do you get? You are now standing at the threshold of another such moment. What you’ve lived through the past several years is the ‘before’; the moment you’re in is like a dimensional gate; and the future is unwritten. Take the time and the care to point your life in the direction that you want to go. This need not take longer than a few moments, though deep meditation and grounded decisions usually require more investment of thought. Remove the no-longer-valid priorities from your agenda; decide what no longer serves you. Then, search your soul and remind yourself what you simply must do. Be exceedingly honest with yourself about this, and don’t be distracted by whether you think something is or is not possible. You might know what this agenda is without even thinking about it. Use the power of your mind and point your existence in that direction. Then, steady as she goes. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You rarely reveal your true power. It’s a mystery why; I think you’re afraid of getting in trouble. Yet you would benefit greatly from questioning and challenging the structure of authority that you’ve set up in your mind, and which you seem convinced reflects actual reality. Your fear of what might go wrong, were you to assert yourself, contains a deeper anxiety about challenging authority. Yet anything of any merit that happens in the world, anything that changes something, or that has the unmistakable vibration of the life force, is not about avoiding challenge or friction. To the contrary, anything that’s actually relevant in some way must break the mold of what came before it, and that’s the story of your life right now. The Aug. 21 total solar eclipse will encourage or even push you to let yourself out of your self-imposed container. The effects of this event will come on gradually over the next few months, with a concentration at the end of the year when Saturn, entering Capricorn, moves in your favor. Then it will be obvious that commitment moves providence and that fortune favors the bold. Yet till then, nobody is shackling you to your caution, or to your fear of rattling the surrogate mothers, fathers, ministers and school deans who populate the world. You are larger, braver and more intelligent than them all. Trust that. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — There are moments when your potential feels like pretty balloons floating in the air, and there are those times it feels as if you’re in four-wheel drive. You have traction now; you have ideas about what you want to do; and you have an unusually strong sense of who you are. Yet you may also feel locked into something that you don’t see a way out of — or you may live with this feeling silently, below the level of full awareness. So let’s start with that: in what ways are you stuck in a pattern, and in what ways does that prevent you from living the way you want, or doing what you want? It’s rare that people abandon what they are doing to pursue something else. It’s more often true that, step by step, we convert aspects of our lives to a new purpose. You might cut off cable TV so you have more time to practice music, cultivate a talent or learn a skill. You might clear out a room that’s under-utilized and devote it to a new purpose. You might spend less idle time with friends, and instead choose to associate with people who share a common purpose and commitment. In sum, you must make every moment, every hour and every day count for its full value. Time is your most precious resource. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Long ago, my father explained to me that there are basically two kinds of power: formal and informal. Formal power is the manager of a baseball team. Informal power is the most popular player, adored by the fans and the press. The laws of a country represent formal power; its customs are informal power. You are working with both kinds of influence at the moment, and it’s crucial that you distinguish the two — and that you know which to use in what situation. Most of the time, informal power is what runs the world. Custom trumps law almost every time. You may be out of step with these informal kinds of influences. For one thing, you’re too self-critical, needlessly so, and this interferes with the notion that people might like you enough to play on your team. Of course people tend to like you, and they tend to respect you innately; but it’s hard to take this in if you are in a nearly constant state of self-judgment. One thing that will help is if you catch yourself whenever you think that the past is the present. It may be, until you interrupt that pattern, and get yourself into this moment, and fully inhabit this time of your life. Your opinions, fears, judgments and hang-ups are all products of the past. Forget it! You can only be alive now. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — One of the most challenging aspects of maturity, success or bold achievement is clearing the psychological baggage of others out of the way. Most of the problems we deal with in life are not our own. They belong to our parents and other ancestors, and must be treated as such, if they are to be addressed efficiently. That, in turn, frees up the bandwidth to take care of your actual karma, and to fulfill your actual agenda. With the total solar eclipse later this month, you get an opportunity to purge your consciousness of some inherited problems, most likely ones imposed on you by your dominant parent (and potentially other persons who had power over you as a child). In order to take advantage of this, you must not be afraid of ‘betraying’ any of these people. You must be willing to stand apart. This is about nothing less than claiming your birthright and, in a sense, your destiny. There’s always a delicate transaction when authority and influence are seized from one generation by the next, in each individual life; and for you that time has come. Set yourself free from the fears of your parents and your grandparents. Cut the cords, cut the apron strings, let the dead be gone and commit to living your life on your terms. If this isn’t scary, you’re not doing it right. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — From the wisdom of traditional tantra, we know that spiritual growth isn’t real unless it incorporates and accepts sexual awareness and experience. We know that sexual experience verges on meaningless if it does not invest itself in existential awareness and love, which is the actual meaning of ‘spiritual’. You often struggle to claim yourself back from the sexual situations in which you become involved. Often, money gets mingled up in them, your sense of self-worth and identity gets invested, and it’s just too complicated. Fear of these scenarios prevents you from actually getting to know people, since typically these associations seem to be all or nothing. Yet you don’t commit to having three of someone’s children by smiling at them. A dinner invitation is not a marriage proposal. And you’re a whole person, never half of a relationship. A total eclipse in the angle of your chart that describes all of these issues will feel like a birth from one reality to the next. You may experience yourself passing through a narrow passageway, which may have the feeling of giving something up. Make the trip willingly. It will take some time for the dust to settle; by the time Saturn arrives in your sign later in the year, you will know that you are safely in a new reality and a new experience of your existence. Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — It’s time to break the tension of your relationships. To this end, letting go of expectations will be helpful; it’s the source of much stress, and of difficulty getting close to others. Another source involves how you may perceive yourself as a ‘public person’ and a somewhat opposite experience of yourself as a private person. You seem much more rigid than you actually are, though it’s unclear why you don’t take a more relaxed attitude toward the world, and give yourself and everyone else space to be themselves. Then there’s the matter of commitment. Do you really think you can choose what you commit to and what you don’t? Or have you observed that there’s a larger pattern involved, and that your involvements select you just as much as you select them? The total solar eclipse of Aug. 21 is an invitation to be absolutely true to your relationships. It’s bidding you to have the utmost respect for the karma that you share with others. What you want to do is work that karma out and move on to better things, rather than get more deeply mired in it. Therefore, say what you need to say to people. Listen to what they say to you. Honor the bonds you share with them, and honor your need to be independent as well. Both are true at once and are equally valid. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — Every relationship is a collaboration. That’s helpful, since relationships need a purpose, if they are to be happy. Almost any purpose will serve, though it must be sincere. In the coming seasons, people from your past are likely to re-enter your life. Sometimes this will be for the purpose of completion. Sometimes it will be for continuation. A simple exchange of thoughts may complete the conversation; sometimes more time and thought will be required. This will precede moving forward, which will be on entirely new terms. It’s essential that you see people from your past as they are today, rather than as they were in years before. Sometimes there will be a profound difference, and other times it will be subtle. As for the collaborative nature, you set the purpose mutually, based on a full palette of possibilities: your shared mission, assisting with one another’s missions, financial gain, sexual bonding or selfless service — to name a few. What this all implies is a wholly conscious approach to relating, rather than what usually happens on our planet. This kind of focused intention is, perhaps, uncomfortable to some people, and you may need to lead the way gently. One of the most important things you can size up, with everyone you meet or encounter from the past, is what their agenda is. What do they claim their purpose is, and what do they actually do? What about you? For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for July 2017

Planet Waves Monthly Horoscope for July 2017, #1156 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — The world is in a fragile state at the moment. You are currently doing pretty well and, by all indications, are on an upswing. Yet you’re in a somewhat odd position of noticing all the cracks in consciousness, and the fear that’s seeping through them. This is especially true if you’re any kind of boss or manager; the people who work for you seem to need constant care and are struggling to adapt to the world. It will be noticeable if you’re a parent or someone who looks after children. They all need extra care now; people around you, people you feel responsibility toward, are experiencing the stress directly; you have a deeper capacity to handle it, you’re stronger and you know more. As you focus on who and what needs immediate assistance, something interesting happens this month, which is that the aperture of your mind is widening. You are beginning to see and experience yourself in a bigger world; both geographically, and the potential of your own life. You cannot let yourself be fooled into thinking that there’s no use aspiring to better things, or having more fun, or exploring your abundant creative desires. You must keep your awareness on high and refuse to cut off or be deterred by the absurd and painful struggles of the world. You must have faith in yourself. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Taurus

Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You’re in an unusual phase of making deep personal progress on your inner growth, without having too many trappings of success. You don’t have to impress anyone. What you’re doing is more important than whether you’re succeeding at it. What you’re learning is more important than any formal educational qualifications. Therefore, you can abandon all pretense, all desire to have the right image, and stick to the substance of what you’re doing and who you are becoming. Yes, there will be phases of resistance, where it may seem too difficult or pointless, and that’s part of the learning process. Just keep moving, keep exploring and push yourself to do better work. Over the next two months, a series of unusual events, in particular potent New Moon aspects in Leo, will help you settle into the person you’re becoming. But don’t get too settled. Your relationship to life is about your relationship to the society around you. Unlike a yogi sitting in a cave in the Himalayas, you are a person of the world. Your life and your growth become relevant as you extend yourself into actual circumstances: creative endeavors, your community, and the people with whom you share some political affinity. Above all else, you seem destined to discover that you are not alone, as an artist, an activist, or one in the position of caring for the world. Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Do you have some message that you need to focus? You could start with a clear statement to yourself about what you want from life. That translates to what you want from your own existence. And as it turns out, you’re the only one who can consciously and willingly shape your existence and give yourself anything. Even what you get from others, you give to yourself (which is called receiving). So, let the first message be a statement of your desire. Include what’s important to you and why. When you know your priorities and you are aware of what you want, you then have the rare opportunity to live a principled life: a life ordered by your conscious intentions. Given the state of the world — the strife and the pain that so many people are in, often below the level of full awareness — something like focusing your intentions can seem pointless. Yet there’s never been a time when focusing your mind not only had a point, but is the most relevant thing you can do with your energy. The end of the chaos of the world begins with you: your thought process, your willingness to learn, your dependency on actual reasoning to guide your life. It may seem trendy to act like a total moron, or to act against your own interests. Your life is worth more than that. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Planet Waves

Astrology can help you. In the right hands, astrology can provide you with a new perspective on your life. My readings are designed to help you consider all of your possibilities, your greatest potential, and to help you see your problems in a new light. I’m about to record the Cancer reading for you. If you order now, you’ll get the best pre-order price of $33. Shortly before publication, it’ll be $44 and then the final price will be $55. These readings condense 22 years of my counseling experience, nonstop reflection on the human condition and lots of excellent astrology. They are in plain talk, easy to follow, and paced gently. They are some of my best work; these readings are an invention. And you can have all the benefits. I plan to do this reading next week — earlier than usual, so get on board before the next two price increases. Here’s how to pre-order. If you’re seeking a private consultation, here’s that link.

Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — You can make great strides on the financial front this month, if you cast aside all vestiges of status seeking. You have a mission; you have a purpose; you are fortunate, as such. And financial success is indeed part of that. Yet it cannot be the first thing on your mind. There’s something I keep telling young people, which is that something is not worth doing if it’s not worth doing for free. This may seem outrageous, but only to someone who had never experienced getting paid handsomely for something that violates their principles, that lacks integrity, or that they simply hate doing. This is the trap of working for money, and sooner or later, everyone who works for money falls into it. Therefore, pay attention to what you know is actually relevant. Focus on the quality of your work, and most of all, on the pleasure of being active and productive. Take all of your relationships to the human level; there are no “professional relationships,” there are merely encounters where the primary seeming purpose is related to one’s mission in life. Certain developments over the next seven weeks will guide you into seeking deeper connection to what matters to you the very most. You will not be able to ignore this; there’s no point even trying. Go right into the question. When you discover the truth, hold it gently, live it boldly and keep searching. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Be mindful any time you seem to be doing something useless or futile; pause and ask yourself why you’re involved and what outcome you want. If you feel like you’re working off karma, stop and question that. Be even more mindful if you feel tempted to tout your own accomplishments in a way that is even vaguely inappropriate. Aspects this month and into August demand humility, sensitivity and awareness of your environment. You must focus on correct action, and reaching for a sense of ease and flow, and a mutually supportive approach to all people and all projects. You are approaching an unusual birthday season, with two New Moons in your sign, on July 23 and Aug. 21. The second of these is one of the most noteworthy solar eclipses of our lifetimes, and it represents a potentially beautiful turning point in your life. Yet you must not lose your way in the glare of ambition; the most suitable approach to any task is to do it for its own sake, because it’s the right thing. Rather than taking a clever approach, take a sensible one. Rather than being competitive, be cooperative. Most of these things are likely to be lurking beneath consciousness until you find yourself in a situation where they become a concern. For that reason, it will help if you proceed with full awareness and caution. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — You want to succeed. You feel like you’re going places. You know it’s time to be more visible and move up in the world. Yet this is a delicate moment, surrounded by uncertainty. And that calls for special care, and living by a clear code of ethics. Be transparent about your motives. You’re likely to experience the temptation to be a bit subversive, particularly later in the month; this will not help you or anyone. You might subject yourself to a standard: anything you can’t openly discuss is in some way unwholesome. If you state one reason for taking an action or making a decision when you’re really driven by something else, ask yourself why that is. It may be related to a matter of trust; you may be trying to deal yourself an unfair advantage; you may have some concerns or questions that you need to address. If you proceed openly, honestly and with one agenda, you’ll keep your life simpler, and be more likely to succeed at what you’re doing. However, that entirely depends upon your definition of success. You can define it by how much influence you have, how much money you make, the quality of your work, or how many people you help. It would be prudent to guide yourself in the direction of altruism. Feed your soul, and help the world through this troubled time. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — You’re increasingly being drawn into a position of leadership and, like many before you, you may be noticing that this can be a lonely place. If you discover that, you might pause and direct your leadership toward bringing people together. The world is awash with bosses, board members, directors, executive directors, chairmen, big chiefs, bigger chiefs and even bigger chiefs. Look where it’s getting us. Rare to find are those who are tuned into human needs, and responding to the absurd fear level on the planet. Commit yourself to being a reassuring presence. Devote yourself to holding space for people to be themselves, which means being different. If you’re in a position of authority, be conscious of fairness and respect; err on the side of those with disadvantages. This is the perfect remedy to any mood or feeling that you are left out, or that the world is in some way being unfair to you. That may or may not be true, though even if you’re feeling it, that’s true enough; respond with empathy, compassion and mercy. If any such scenario is happening in your household or family of origin, you will indeed need to rise above past conditioning and be called upon to forgive prior transgressions. But you have no need or duty to subject yourself to any further crisis or pain. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — You may have an idea that it’s time to move up in life, make a splash or get your message out. If you’re feeling that, do it in subtle ways, and pay attention to how you feel. What you want to avoid, with the full strength of your soul, is proceeding through life with a conquering spirit. That may become a real temptation later this month and into August, as Mars enters your 10th house of power and reputation. While the world seems to thrive on this lately, you’re in a position where ambition can easily turn to hubris. Therefore, erase all traces of self-importance from your personality. Don’t let yourself be haughty even for a moment. Recognize the existence and the contributions of others, to your life and to the community. If you must reach upward, do so through sincere aspiration, which would mostly be about aspiring to serve. Recognize that your contribution is but a small part of what will help, and modestly seek to help others make their contribution. All of this will call forth your more sensitive side, precisely when your astrology is enticing you to be less sensitive and less caring. Remember that you’re not merely going against the grain of your current transits; you’re bucking the tide of a world that’s drunk with power, and is going mad with the stuff. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — You know that you must do what’s right, even if it’s the more difficult option. This might involve a financial decision. It might involve making some kind of seeming sacrifice for a partner. It might be a spiritual matter that’s compelling you to be true to your own ethics and values, rather than those of someone else. The emotions and challenges at the outset are unlikely to last long; the first few steps will require the most effort and care, until you figure out that you’ve made the right decision. This means the right decision for you and, potentially, someone you care about dearly. Said another way, your loyalty must be to the future and not to the past. You are faced with doing what is right now, not what might have counted as right at some point long ago. One of the deepest inborn traits of Sagittarius is the ability to go against what is trendy. At the moment, it’s just wildly popular to throw one’s most deeply held values to the four winds, do what will make a person seem cool, and claim to have integrity. Thankfully for everyone, you have a much higher standard. You are now being confronted with the importance of honoring your own values. This is a genuine transition for you; it’s also an investment in your future. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — During the next seven weeks, there will be two New Moon events in the sign Leo, which is one of the most sensitive areas in your solar chart. This is called the 8th solar house: a profound zone of transformation, rebirth, merging and separating from others, and losing and finding yourself. In classical astrology, the themes of death, inheritance and dowry come up; in modern astrology, the 8th stands for profoundly transformative events. And you have Leo there, which suggests that your pride interferes with your ability to be honest. Your self-concept makes it difficult to let go of your self-concept, and you can be stuck wondering whether your hair is done up right for the big ayahuasca ceremony. One of these two New Moons is a profound total eclipse of the Sun in Leo, which takes place Aug. 21, and the other is a potent Leo New Moon conjunct Mars on July 23. This is some serious transformational mojo. If you have jealous tendencies, or are into control dramas, you can expect these things to be crushed to powder. You might just give them up in advance and save all the energy. The overarching message of these events is to remind you that no relationship is a trophy; no profession bestows status; no person is your property; you are the property of no other person. That’s cause for celebration. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — This summer will have a ‘before and after’ quality to it: your life before, and your life after. It’s time to focus on some relationship issues, which really means how you think about the people in your life. This won’t all happen at once; there’s a gradual phase-in of both the review process and the necessity to make important decisions that, you may discover, were long overdue. The thing you want to be mindful of is aggression in any form, no matter where it’s coming from: from you, from someone close to you, or from your environment generally. Violence can include pushing your agenda on others. You will be called upon to make some adjustments: in particular, to go with the flow of what others want and need. This may feel submissive, though actually, by helping others, you’re the one who is learning, and you’ll receive some deep nutrients through the experience of shared purpose. Aquarius is a social sign, and we live in distinctly anti-social times. You of all people face a profound necessity to actually participate with the world in a meaningful way, which in part means experiencing the meaning of others as something directly relevant to you. There can be no pretending here. There is no ‘using relationships’ for some other purpose. Everything must stand on its own virtue, its own necessity and its own relevance. Including you. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You’re heading into a busy couple of months; remember to get out into the sunshine every few days, because your efforts at work are going to keep you focused, productive and fully engaged in what you’re doing. You will discover that, whatever that may be, you’re part of something much larger than yourself. This sensation may increase exponentially as these weeks progress and the Aug. 21 total solar eclipse approaches. This is your chance to do your very best work, and have some unusual impact in the process. Here is the key, however: Take a laid-back approach. I don’t mean slacking. I mean using understated language, emphasis on consistency and quality, and never, ever bragging about what you do. If there was ever astrology cautioning that modesty is essential, it’s your solar charts for the next two months. Remember that you’re not working for money (I explain the pitfalls of that in the Cancer horoscope). You’re working to get the job done and, thankfully, you will have abundant energy and ability to focus. While things rarely go perfectly every day on our particular planet, you’re likely to have the feeling that you’re making progress and that your work is relevant and helpful to others. You can guide that gently into paying the bills, which in turn will reveal a good few methods for how to do so even better in the future. Short Monthly Horoscope for June 2017, #1154 | By Eric Francis
Aries

Aries (March 20-April 19) — Keep small matters small. That will mean resisting the temptation to blow things out of proportion, which is likely to happen if you’re feeling insecure in a relationship. Your insecurity is coming from you, not from anyone else. The good news there is that you’re the one who can do something about it. The first thing in that category is to tell the truth. The second is to stand back from what you know is false: simply refuse to accept it. This is a solid step toward feeling at home in your own life, and inside your own four walls. Taurus (April 19-May 20) — You’ve finally got your confidence back, after spending so much time wondering where it went. Well, ‘it’ didn’t go anywhere — by my reading, you had some questions to answer that required you find your true self and your true voice. Consider where you were back in February and compare that to where you are today. Particularly on the issue of growth, something has changed. Suddenly it’s not some difficult or arduous task. It’s easy and becoming easier, which is exactly what happens if you don’t resist change, and don’t resist the positive ways people offer you their love and support. A Reading to Help you Choose Your Future, Gemini

“Listening to an Eric Francis reading is very much like having an intimate conversation with a valued friend and mentor. It showed me a future that can be of my own choosing. This Gemini reading is a neon sign showing me the way.”
— Nora Connaughton, on a previous Gemini Birthday Reading

Dear Reader with Gemini Sun or Rising:

I know a few Geminis who have been struggling this past year with feeling ‘stuck’ — with projects and jobs that aren’t really ‘theirs’, with their dreams, with options pulling in different directions. Yet I also know some who are truly blazing brightly right now.

Planet Waves
The Cosmic Twins, by Lizanne Webb.

Whichever description fits you, consider something Eric recently wrote to Geminis: “You’re at that point where you simply must do what’s real, or do your real thing in a way that’s more daring, and reaches deeper into yourself.”

With the Sun in your sign about to make a fortuitous trine to Jupiter, you seem to have a little extra mojo at your disposal as you pursue “your real thing” — even if you’ve felt stuck in some way. But the key to working with Jupiter is to get the ball rolling sooner rather than later, taking steps to prepare the way for ‘luck’.

Pre-order your 2017 Gemini Birthday Reading, and you’ll receive at least an hour of audio astrology plus Eric’s signature tarot reading to help you keep the ball rolling as your year develops.

“It is amazing to me, that no matter what time of the birthday year I refer back to it, it has something to offer. To me it has become not only an annual upcoming preview of one’s year ahead, but a continual informative year long reference guide.”
— Ann Cortese, 87, B.S., M.P. S

You can listen to your reading as many times as you like, tapping into Eric’s uncanny ability to help you focus on what matters most. It’s like an intensive meditation that’s multi-faceted enough to keep even the most active mind engaged, and down-to-Earth enough that you’ll feel empowered to use its insights right away, no matter where you’re at.

Eric pours his heart and soul into your Birthday Reading, making it easier to hear your own heart and soul — and making it a beautiful gift for any Gemini.

Wishing you a bright and beautiful year,

Amanda Painter

Gemini

Gemini (May 20-June 21) — Every single factor that could help you financially is on your side right now. The only thing you have to worry about is falling for the belief that someone is holding something over you. Therefore, refuse to play any game where money is being used as leverage or a power tool. You know that the purpose of cash is to take care of yourself and the people that you love. Anyone who uses it for any other reason, such as to gain an advantage over you or someone else, is violating cosmic law. You don’t have to say that; just go about doing your business on your terms. Cancer

Cancer (June 21-July 22) — The month builds toward a spectacular New Moon in your birth sign, and you may be feeling a sense of anticipation. You don’t have to wait for anyone or anything. You know the direction you want to go with your life, particularly in your intimate relationships. Remember that your first relationship is to you, and everything else grows out of your inner orientation. With the Sun and other planets entering your sign later in the month, you’ll be reminded of this many times. Leo

Leo (July 22-Aug. 23) — Offer yourself fully to what you’re doing. Don’t hold back, and don’t make excuses for why you should do less, or be less present. Lead with your heart, and take the opportunity to be more like a dog, and less like a cat. That means expressing your passion about everyone and everything you’re involved with. Then you will ride the positive momentum to entirely new experiences. Your solar chart describes both passion and discipline, and these are the two main ingredients in your success. Know when to set limits, and know when to blow them away as if they don’t exist or don’t matter. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Virgo

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sep. 22) — Come out of your cocoon and make some new friends. If you’re concerned whether people like you, try setting that question aside for a while. Be yourself and see how others respond. You’re still in what I would call the ‘interesting’ phase of your relationships, where you get mixed reactions and are not sure who you can trust. You can only find out where you stand with people when you actively experiment, and give them a chance to actually respond to you and show their true colors. The most important thing to notice is how you feel. If you feel good around someone, they feel good about you. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Libra

Libra (Sep. 22-Oct. 23) — This will be a spectacular summer for you professionally, but you must prepare before you set out to accomplish everything. You will be extra visible, and you’ll draw attention to your work — so you must know what you’re talking about. Do all the reading you need to do; be conversant on the human level in your areas of specialty. Be able to argue both sides of any issue; see the flaws in your own point of view. People will trust you when you can present both the point and the counterpoint, because it shows that you have an informed and balanced opinion. Scorpio

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 22) — Where your family is concerned, you’re going to be the one who’s counted on as the voice of fairness and justice. There seem to be important matters coming to a head, and some people around you are inclined to exaggerate their emotions or use their power unfairly. You need to be the person who is grounded, who knows right from wrong, and who shows some spine when it comes to sticking up for others, particularly young people. Don’t be afraid of offending anyone. Just be real and reasonable and devoted to the truth alone. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 22) — This is a passionate moment, and people feel passionately about you. That might mean sex takes you to a new dimension; there are some exciting possibilities for investment, meaning someone who invests in you. The thing to be attentive to is nourishment. Any exchange must not only taste good and be filling, but also be wholesome. For as mystical and adventurous as Sagittarius is, one of its greatest assets is finding a home in what you might call the erotic cosmos. This is a shared space where you and those you love can take care of one another. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Capricorn

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 20) — How do you respond when people approach you with desire? Do you brush them off or neg them, or do you take the compliment? Someone else expressing desire for you places no obligation on you. Nor do you have any duty to be welcoming. These days, you’re the flavor of the month, and you might want to maintain your reputation for respect and honor even if you’re not interested in some of your potential suitors. All is not fair in war, and all is certainly not fair in love. You’re the one who must make it so. For your Eric Francis horoscope this week, please see this link.

Aquarius

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19) — Your workspace is your healing space. Your work keeps you healthy, and this is a good time to remember that. For most people, this is far from the truth; what they consider employment is for the most part a responsibility they want to get over with as soon as possible, and be on their way. You would laugh at this, but you’re too polite. Besides, you have some friendly people around you who are just as determined to do the job well, and for its own sake. The money will flow from there. Pisces

Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) — You’re in the midst of some creative and artistic explosion. The dominant feeling is the sensation of knowing how good your life can be, and loving it. You don’t need to push the river, or push anyone or anything for that matter. Focus your intentions and move with the flow of events. You’re a genuinely original person, and that originality is shining out from you at the moment. Feel good about yourself and you will attract the right people to you: those who care about you, those who appreciate you, and those with whom you can share in the artistry of life.
