Danielle Voirin’s Photo of the Day for 08.06.15

Sitting along the Seine at Paris Plages, the moment that the Bateaux Mouches tourist boats ride by, shining light into all the shadows as it passes.

Paris-based photographer Danielle Voirin travels the world and documents her experiences in photographs. She takes street photography and photojournalism a shade beyond even art, to the level of mysticism. Standing on the Pont Solferino, looking east over the Seine. The Louvre is straight ahead, and the belle towers of Notre Dame de Paris can be seen past the distant bridges to the right. One of the very first photos I took of Paris, at the time the dream to live here was burning inside me like a motor.

Taking a ride on a Bateau Mouche, you can listen to a very brief history of Paris in 7 languages, while waving to people sitting along the banks of the Seine.

The bell towers of the Notre Dame de Paris standing tall behind the Quai aux Fleurs. The building with the long rectangular plaque between two rounded doors is where in 1118, in a residence since destroyed, Pierre Abélard and Hélouise d'Argenteuil lived a moment of their forbidden love affaire. (P.S. This week's Daily Photo will be dedicated to the River Seine. The most polluted and beautiful river in Europe.)
