The thing to notice is an element of the interaction being nourishing — certainly for yourself, but perhaps for all involved — and don’t underestimate the sustenance offered by fun for its own sake. In our current overall climate of ‘identity politics’ taking over for an embodied sense of individual identity, it can feel as though the stakes are high to hang on to who you are in the face of rapid and overwhelming cultural change. One question that may arise today is: how can you bring your full self into contact with the changes around you, rather than sacrificing the core of what makes you ‘you’? Another question might be: are you feeling at all obsessive about protecting the ‘purity’ of your identity in some way? (Both are suggested by Vesta and Eris in Aries square Pluto in Capricorn.)

A ‘yes’ to either question could make expressing your desires (or your anger) in confident, constructive, and energetically neutral ways challenging, thanks to a square between Mars in Cancer and Chiron in Aries. This could easily manifest as some kind of outburst — followed by an apology. Conditions increasing this possibility include: feeling like you don’t deserve to have your desires met; some degree of shame about your desires or emotions (including anger); or feeling too ‘out there’ or ‘broken’ in some way.

Remember that having desires and emotions is the birthright of every human — and that there are ways to engage with those around you on these topics that still leave room for everyone’s honest ‘yes’, ‘no’, and ‘maybe’. When the Moon enters Aquarius at 1:49 pm EDT, it should offer a more rational space from which to approach your reactions and interactions. Think ‘non-attachment’ rather than ‘chilly’, and you may find yourself open to some new ideas and feelings about them. There is plenty of space for who you are.

Mars in Cancer can be wonderfully protective; the thing is, that energy works its best when it’s used to protect loved ones in need of someone to stick up for them. When Mars gets into self-protective mode, it can be rather prone to overdoing it when those big crab claws come out. That brings us to today’s key Mars aspects: squares to Logos in Libra and Salacia in Aries (with a square to Chiron in Aries exact tomorrow). Squares manifest as internal tension, and respond well to taking action to address it.

Internal tension, given Mars’ current condition, could be a little tricky to handle. Consider also that sexual healing (a Chiron-Salacia theme) and how one conceptualizes one’s closest relationships (Logos in Libra) are pretty sensitive topics. Most people seem have something to feel defensive about in those departments. Yet, that sensation comes more from the pressures of family patterns and social expectations than from actually being ‘wrong’ in one’s desire, emotions, experience or relationships. What can you do today that’s expressive rather than defensive in any of these realms?

Do you know the difference? Think of it this way: being defensive is a way to push someone away without truly letting them know your pain, fears, worries or deepest desires. Expressing those feelings (in a non-aggressive way that can be received openly) tends to come with a feeling of vulnerability or risk — but can pay off big through increased intimacy with others and security in oneself.

On a much less cerebral level, an opposition between Venus in Taurus and Typhon in Scorpio offers an image of confronting strong emotions, either your own or those of someone you’re close to. No matter how intimidating that kind of vulnerability may feel, remember that there is tremendous strength in emotional honesty. The thing is, it’s the kind of strength that reveals itself most clearly as — or after — you step into it to express what’s been going on beneath the surface. Consider the sensation of being ‘uncorked’ — is it more like motivation, provocation (positive or negative) or frustration in this case?

Today the Scorpio Moon opposes the Taurus Sun for the Scorpio Full Moon, exact at 5:11 pm EDT (21:11:14 UTC). If a situation with someone seems a little stuck and you’re not sure how to wiggle it into freer territory, this Full Moon could describe that sensation — especially regarding topics such as values, finances, and the physical-sexual-emotional realm of intimate relationships. Possessiveness and jealousy (or their projection onto a partner) might also come up. If things get volatile, you may wish to press the pause button until after the event peaks.

Another possibility is that you may be conscious of, and need to express outwardly, something about a process of re-generating a part of you that was once cut off or somehow lost. A conjunction between the Sun and the minor planet Sedna appears to describe this. Did any form of pride, hubris or vanity play a role in that former trauma? Now ask: was that truly the case, or is a displaced sense of guilt or shame pointing you in that direction? It’s easy to think we were looking for more than we deserved — and therefore have been punished justly — if we’ve been pushed out of our own center, or if we’ve felt somehow abandoned. But maybe you were right to stand your ground after all?

Any of those thoughts or emotions could be a red flag — and could guide you to look a little deeper by the light of the Full Moon (you can read a little more about this Scorpio Full Moon here). With Venus in Taurus making a conjunction to the Great Awakener Uranus today, you have an unusual level of creativity and self-will available for use. While this might not be the day to indiscriminately push stubbornly against whatever you face, persistently seeking out a new approach, sensation or experience could move some worthwhile energy and open up your options.
