Today’s Oracle takes us to the Leo monthly for September 1, 1999.

The only thing that ever wrecks passion is guilt. The only thing that ever messes up life is guilt. The only thing that ever obscures anything is guilt. In very immediate terms, the only thing that ever causes you pain or conceals who you are from yourself is guilt. The most important things to remember about this strange emotion are that it’s insidious and masquerades as many things, including as “other people’s’ guilt.” Guilt is not “guilt about,” it’s merely a generalized sense that you are wrong. Guilt always comes from the past, it is usually the result of having been attacked in the past by guilty people, and it’s the basis of all fear, anger, greed and denial. These ideas may not make total sense to you sense now, and you may be feeling quite a bit of pride in who you are, but now is a good time to begin a program of vigilance about the only thing that can ever really hurt you, or obscure the great gifts you have to offer.

I suggest you get that issue sorted out. The relationship in your mind seems to be mired in questions. The relationship in reality has a sense of clarity, directness and potentially frightening degree of commitment. This may make you nervous because you want to keep your options open. You feel a burst of freedom coming on and quite possibly the season of your dreams approaching rapidly. Okay then — keep your options open. You don’t need to impress people with that fact; know, quietly and with authentic certainty, that you are the one who chooses. And at this particular moment in history, one choice doesn’t preclude another.

If we don’t believe in solutions and search for solutions, we don’t usually find them. In actal fact, life is not the same everywhere, things do change, and what was impossible yesterday can suddenly be eminently possible today. More often than not, these kinds of developments occur within relationships; very little in this world happens outside of relationships. So pay particular attention there, and really listen to what people say to you and want from you. More to the point, pay attention to how they perceive you. My sense is that you are looking for affirmation that you are absolutely and unquestionably valuable, and that you’re unlikely to trust anyone who doesn’t get this intuitively. You’re on the right track. In the immortal words of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, ‘Don’t dream it, be it’.
