This is not the time to make or break contracts — you’re under too much pressure, there are variables you don’t know about, and it’s essential that you figure out what you want before you commit to anything new. I suggest you hold to your current course as the grand cross and solar eclipse do their work, though obviously if you encounter something interesting to do, do it if you want, as long as you don’t sign away any portion of your future longer than an evening or weekend adventure. The very most significant thing you can do is to see your options. This really is one of the great challenges facing humanity, even in this time of so many alleged choices. Tune into your home and its surrounding environment. Do you feel safe there? Tune into your heart; do you feel safe within yourself? You’re in the midst of a deep rearrangement of the way you relate to people, and that will only work if you’re sure your environment is secure. People may be coming and going from your life; there is a sense of movement and shifting commitments and most of all, growth. It may be taking a lot out of you, but it’s also adding a lot as well. One thing that you’re learning is the utmost value of clear contracts. Contracts are always based on good faith; at any time, anyone can bail. But what contracts give us is a framework of expectation. Just relieving the mystery of what to expect can help us get on a lot better with people, which right now counts for a lot more than it usually does.

The presence of another person in your life may feel so strong that you’re wondering whether contact on any kind of equal terms is possible. Yet there is no contact with another without contact with yourself. The deeper you go into your own sense of presence in your world, the deeper you’ll delve into your experiences of others. Your solar chart suggests that you’ve been keeping secrets from yourself. These secrets involve your relationship history, and in particular, what your values about deep connection are and where they came from. More specifically, Venus retrograde in Scorpio suggests that you’re deeply involved in a process of understanding your sexuality and how it manifests in your relationships. This is as much a quest for understanding the past and its influences as it is about letting go of out-of-date ideas and emotional responses — which in part means letting go of your attachment to them. This is not as difficult as you may think, particularly when you assess the cost of the attachments and get a feeling for the benefits that can come when you take your life into your own hands. I would offer these queries. What is the meaning that you put on sex, and how did it get there? What is the value you ascribe to it, and has it actually demonstrated that value? What you’re wanting right now, or what you’ve suddenly discovered is true, may be scaring the shorts off of you. It is indeed a strange notion to feel an impulse to run from what you truly value. But the other side of this sensation is that the experience of truly valuing something or someone is an extremely daring prospect, because, as you have discovered so many times, you cannot always keep or possess what you value the most. Yet there is a way of looking at life, and of coexisting with life, whereby our values can be directed at building that which will last. That takes two things, really: vision and cooperation. Neither are guarantees of success. But we can be assured that without both, there won’t be much that will last till the tide comes in.
